Had dinner here last Saturday night for the first time in years. I've always been a fan of the AYCE salad bar. My mom opted for the salmon and my husband chose the 6 oz. tri-tip sirloin from the "smaller plates" menu. We were all quite happy with our dinner selections! Our server, Angelina, was outstanding! The decaf coffee carafe was out, so she actually brought a cup of coffee to me when the new carafe was ready! She didn't hover but was easy to locate and offered quick, friendly service whenever we needed anything. She made it easy to place a to-go order to bring home to my aunt when we were finished our meal. The place was busy at the time, so we are very grateful to her for this! Sunday 6:30 pm. Horrible experience here. Food took 25 minutes to come outs multiple items from the salad bar missing and not refilled. I paid an additional $9.00 for the unlimited salad bar for everything to be empty. The staff is aware and refuse to refill it. This used to be my go to Sizzler. Great salad bar, great service ! Now when I walk in, there is an awful odor that seems to be coming through the air conditioning. It's a rancid smell that does not mix with enjoying a meal. I noticed it hasn't been as crowded the last two times I walked in and walked right out. We drove all the way to the Sizzler on Hawthorne and Artesia to enjoy a salad bar. I hope this can be resolved soon ! read more

We grew up going to Sizzler's on special occasions but I mistakenly thought that all the locations have since closed. It's been well over 20 years since we were at a Sizzler's so this was a very nostalgic visit. We ordered the salad bar and enjoyed the offerings as it brought us back to the past. Mom and I had a free day so we decided to come around this area to do a bit of window shopping (where browsing turned to buying.) Famished from the walk, I asked her to look around and decide where to eat (including the food court at the mall) and she mentioned we drove by a Sizzlers. It's been ages for both of us since our last visit at one of these. (It's been at least more than 5 years, possibly even a decade since!) With that realization, we decided it was time to come back. Although it's my first time here, the design and atmosphere is similar to the ones I have been. It brought back a lot of memories from when I was a kid and fam would come through one of these! I'm also glad to learn they're still popular. There was a line, but it moved through fast. Mom went for the AYCE salad bar, and I decided on the steak (medium rare) and shrimp. VERDICT: I'm still impressed! They still deliver their cheese toast (which is tastes exactly as I remember it) and my steak was cooked to the perfect pink I specifically requested. The shrimps were a good size, battered thin and seasoned well. Mom enjoyed the salad bar a lot A LOT. It really is just like how it was even back in the day: wings, spaghetti, salad, soup. They were refilled plenty as needed. They never an out of anything. FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 5. Workers were mindful about picking up used plates and utensils. They were also friendly and provided service with a smile. VALUE: 5. So worth it! PARKING: Private lot next to a car shop. OVERALL: 5. TIP: They do offer senior citizen and military discounts. Last week after my son's flag football game, we were so hungry we decided to go to Sizzler because of the variety of food that the restaurant offers. I am so glad that this location is still around. Maybe it's just me but the food here gets better over time. I don't go there often, but each time it seems the food gets more delicious than I remembered. The staff is always amazing. Great customer service. I love that the buffet is actually taken care of frequently. I see them cleaning and checking the temperature on a consistent basis. I appreciate that.. I hadn't been to a Sizzler in about 10 years, and I'll be okay if I don't return for another 10 years. I only ordered the salad bar, and the offerings are okay - nothing spectacular. There are standard salad building offerings and a premade green salad options. The premade green salad options made me really miss Souplantation because their premade salads were 10x more spectacular in comparison. They have a build your own taco option but the meat tastes interesting. The texture is a bit more mushy than home made ground beef. The two dessert options in the salad bar included a key lime cheesecake that just looked like a tray of flavored whipped cream cheese and a banana pudding that was not aesthetically appealing. I tried the cheesecake and it tasted like a caramel infused whipped cream cheese. I didn't eat more than the first taste. The chicken wings were okay, but the fried breading was too thick. Other all you can eat options are better. My kids ordered a kids cheeseburger. The person who took our order did warn me that the kids burger was plain - hamburger buns, meat, and cheese. I said that would be fine, but the meat was extremely dry and more on the burned side. Both of my kids could only have a couple of bites and ate the fries instead. They both wished they had gotten the salad bar instead. read more

This location does things well. They have enough seating for people to eat. Lately their service is faster than previous years. Before my food would get to my table in over half an hour. Now the food arrives in about 15 minutes. Food is great, they have probably the best grilled salmon around. Also their garlic toast is really good. Their ice cream for some reason doesn't taste like ice cream, it feels like water texture. In addition, I think they need more staff. I've seen workers rushing and looking exhausted. Some tables take a while to be cleaned up and people are standing around waiting for a table to be cleared up. read more

I went right when they opened, Thurs 11:00am. Only one server and service was slow. Restaurant got busy quickly. I sat in booth next to window near the exit door. Booth was DIRTY. The seat was shredded. (see picture) The top of the backrest of the booth was sticky and not clean. One of the serving plates near the salad bar was obviously very dirty and it sat there for a long time. Overall salad bar cleanliness was not too bad. But overall, very low standards there. This place is celebrated by other Yelper's. And I can see why. It is a place that everyone knows because it has been around for years and it is the place that is known by pauper and prince alike and also by brunettes and barbies, and also by quiet knitters and quarrelsome Kongs, for being the place with the salad bar. A sign reminded me that this well-known salad bar has over 50 items. I wanted to be impressed but this statement does not have the same impact as being reminded that other places boast 31 flavors. When I graduated from Middle School my family took me there, I had heard somewhere that this was the place to celebrate. And there was a time when I did not know better, or knew more than what my tv told me to be true. My brother at the time, was 18 or 19, and he did not feel like he could go inside. I cannot remember why, maybe he felt like he was out of place inside, so he stayed outside waiting for us to enjoy our meal. By us, I mean my parents and me. We had ordered our meal and it was taking time to get to us. A woman on her break, that was casually lounging on a booth, asked us, if we were still waiting for our steaks. When we confirmed, she got up, as if to handle business and went to check for our food. Can't remember what happened next. The big two take aways, from the above, is that my brother stayed outside cause he felt out of place inside. And I waited for my steaks, longer than I had to, because I was a kid that did not know how to speak up for himself. I went to sizzler yesterday and things had changed. The reason why we went to Sizzler yesterday was to celebrate my brother's birthday. He know felt at place there. We went there because my nrephew, his son, is a big fan of the dessert bar. He gets a cup of m&m's to enjoy at the spot, and to bring home. For me the move is the salad bar, if you can call it that anymore. It now holds spaghetti, and also nacho and taco fixings. So in a way it is also a nacho and taco bar. I made my salad high. And it was fun being able to chose different toppings and place them as you'd like. So for this alone, I would go back. I have to ignore that the bar can be messy--- like croutons on italian dressing but the variety makes you feel alive with choice and opportunity. I went hog wild on the corn nibblets, and had garbanzo which I typically don't have access too. The servers are impacted. It is a busy place, especially around dinner time. I went to go get diet pepsi from the soda fountain and this water like substance came out instead. I informed a server and she said that they were fixing it or replacing it or doing something like that with the diet pepsi dispenser and what it holds inside that converts to diet pepsi. I sat. I did not want to wait for diet pepsi right next to the soda fountain. I would be in the way. A server would not take my cup back and give me a clean one. Mine was full of the water with diet pepsi syrup residue. She said I could pour my water and then drink diet pepsi. I hate to sound like a princess with a missing sequin (single for sequence) on her sequence gown that pouts and wants a whole new dress because of the minuscule absence, but I do not want to drink fresh diet pepsi on a glass that has water and pepsi syrup remnants that to me feel like a diet pepi syrup crust. And why would she not take my cup? But, ok. So I got up poured the liquid, and went to get a new cup from the front cashier. Sizzler puts you to work. I had the salmon with a baked potato and I could not, but, admittedly I am a food snob. But really, I tried the potato and the salmon and both tasted bland, and uninspired and tragically basic. like they were made by a restaurant who concerned themselves with offering affordable meals first. I asked our server, if there was something she could do for my brother since it was his birthday, by way of my nephew--- got to make him feel important and like he matters. She said, if you want, of course my brother to be celebrated in a silly way. She then brought another server, and they made a point to sing all loud, and got the restaurant patrons to sing, or at least some did. Some were not invited in the moment. Their singing, my dad's over the top singing, was awful but in the best way possible,. So for this this place deserves a gold star. This place is a solid place for a decent and creative meal when you do not have much money, But if you have money, and care to spend it to enjoy your meals with indulgence than this place sizzles-out. Poor customer service. Ordered my usual Italian herb chicken and a side skewer of fried shrimp. "Jumbo" shrimp. Not even. Bigger than popcorn shrimp, but definitely not jumbo. The plate comes with a salad or soup. I asked if I could get that to go. Was told no. Ok. Waiting for my order, one server comes to take my order receipt & bring cheese toast. A different server brings my order. No one returned to see if I needed anything. I wanted more condiments, but by this time I had given up. I'm not going to hunt you down to do your job. Neither server returned until I had stacked my dishes & silverware on the table. And even then, her comment was "let me get this out of your way." Mind you that you can add the tip to your bill up front when you pay. The cashier gives you the amount in cash to leave the server. So I had the cash. However, with not knowing who's my server & the fact that no one checked back with me...WHY would I leave a tip?? To who?? Don't complain about customers not tipping. Do better. Oh. I had a very disappointing experience at the Carson Sizzler. The salad bar food was not fresh, and I even noticed new salad being placed directly on top of the old. Some of the dressings were mixed--there was Catalina in the ranch--and the soup seemed as if different ones had been combined, even though it was hot. The bathrooms were also not clean, with toilet paper on the floor and dirty toilets. As we were leaving, our waitress offered me a box, but I declined because of the way the food was being handled. For $50, ( this included my husbands mean wich looked amazing He said a few bites were chewy but he enjoyed it. I expected much higher standards of cleanliness and freshness. I grew up eating Sizzler. This is where the family would go out to eat from time to time. Chef Roy Choi's family would visit Sizzler too growing up in LA and I could not believe that he took Anthony Bourdain to a Sizzler on his TV show. I was getting some new tires next door so I decided to come for their $13.99 salad brunch for some childhood nostalgia. After filing for bankruptcy several times, they seem to be doing some rebranding with some of their signage and trying play off childhood nostalgia to resurrect the business. If vinyl and cassettes have made a comeback, why can't Sizzler? After doing some light reading online about the company, I didn't realize that they were founded Culver City in 1958 originally opeing as a steakhouse. Steak at Sizzler is not the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Sizzler. I think of the cheese bread and the salad bar. It is interesting that after you order at the register, they ask you tip in dollar amounts with a minimum of $5 instead of percentages at the register before you're served. They give you the cash you select to tip your server. I found a seat facing the salad bar for prime people watching. I love watching people getting excited and happy as they serve themselves at the buffet. The food in the salad bar isn't anything remarkable. If you're there for a plate of green salad, you will feel satisfied. There are different leaf varieties such as spring mix, spinach, and iceberg lettuce and around 5-6 salad dressing options and other toppings like eggs, carrots, broccoli, etc. to choose from. You'll also see things like macaroni salad and potato salad. On one end you've got the soup selection served warm almost at room temperature. I tasted all of them -- chicken noodle, clam chowder, and not sure if it was Italian wedding soup, but it had meatballs. My favorite was the warm almost room temperature chicken noodle soup. Their most popular seemed to be the clam chowder. It was cleaned out of anything chunky and what I was left with was cream soup. There is the crispy taco bar, nachos, guacamole. Also, a spaghetti and meatballs section. My favorite was chips and guac and the meatballs. I had one chicken wing and it was the most horrible chicken wing of my life. The fruit section highlight was the cut pineapples. The most popular seemed to be the banana pudding with Nila wafers which was never refilled while I was there. You'll find odd looking cantaloupe slices most likely frozen, canned peaches, and cottage cheese. The server will bring you unlimited cheese bread if you ask. I only ordered one slice to taste. The server never came back to refill my drink as she seemed way too busy working half the room. She did stop by once to clear out my soup bowl and asked if I wanted more bread. Would I return again? Probably not. It was nice to come back for some fun childhood nostalgia and people watch in front of the salad bar. The crowd at lunch were predominantly black folks, a table of Latinos, and a few tables of senior citizen white and Filipino folks. Go for the people watching, salad bar, and unlimited cheese bread. I enjoyed the frozen yogurt topped on brownie chunks as well. Maybe order a margarita to celebrate that you're at a Sizzler. read more

My coworkers introduced me to Sizzlers for their under $15 unlimited salad bar lunch option. I was pleasantly surprised to find that their options, quality, and flavor exceeded my expectations. The salad bar has consistently been well-stocked, featured fresh ingredients, and provided variety that's unmatched. Although not as robustly stocked as Souplantation that I miss constantly, Sizzlers is an adequate fill to that void. The clam chowder and chicken noodle soup are great here. Cheese toast and cornbread are divine. There's even fried chicken, boneless wings, spaghetti, meatballs, and ground beef tacos that can be had from the salad bar. To top off meals: a soft-serve machine with great topping options. You really can't find this type of deal elsewhere nowadays, especially at chain establishments. read more

We enjoyed our dinner here at the Carson location. The cashier Jazne was so nice and helpful upon ordering. We ordered 1 cheeseburger which came with fries and 2 salad bars. The selections on the salad bar was plentiful and the fried chicken stayed loaded and it was hot and crispy perfect. We enjoyed the window seating and our waitress was very attentive. We usually go to the bellflower location but we will return to this location since it's close to the hotel we stay at. Drink stay filled so that was a plus side too. Being pescatarian/vegetarian it's extremely hard to find good fresh tasting food without paying a super high price... and even then 90% of the time it's not worth it. I was hungry, was driving past, and saw Sizzler. I hadn't been to one in about 20 years and wasn't sure if id be able to find something to eat, but figured why not take a look! I'm so glad I did. They offer the unlimited salad bar as a main course! I was so happy and was not disappointed. The service was great. Manuel was kind and made sure I had everything I needed without even asking. The place was very clean and attended to. The salad bar was full and fresh. The temperature on their buffet was amazing!! The vegetables were cool, crisp, and crunchy. A few Sundays ago we had a flash from the past, we haven't been to a Sizzler in like 30 years!!!! Omg it's nicer looking than I recall it being, I know it's been upgraded. My boyfriend loved his steak and lobster dish, he said it was full of flavor and he can't wait to come back. The cheese bread they brought to the table was amazing! I had the salad bar and barramundi fish dish it was ok, nothing to write home about. I was looking fwd to a lil sundae treat but their Sundae Station was a bit messy... the caramel bottle was upside down in a container and didn't look like it had much more... This is the first Sizzler I've seen in a long time!! It is located down the street from Dignity Health stadium off Avalon Blvd! The restaurant is clean and busy, Sunday! We were lucky to get a table in the corner. We had the salad bar and to our amazement they had menudo! It was very tasty and full of flavor, just like mom made! I ordered to go on Monday 08/28, ordered the steak, and shrimp combo with one side which I had gotten a loaded potato. The steak was suppose to be medium rare, and when I had gotten home it was raw. Almost like they seared the outside for a few seconds, and then taken it off to serve. The middle was completely cold, and absolutely disgusting as you can see in the video, and pictures. I immediately call back, and let them know I'd like a refund on the steak, but since the shrimp and potato were fine I'd be okay with paying that. Originally I had spoken with an employee who needed to grab a manager to see what they could do for me. A male manager, who didn't tell me his name, was extremely condescending over the phone. I let him know that I would prefer to have my money reimbursed for the steak alone, and that I was fine paying for the shrimp, and potato. I did call the shrimp coconut shrimp because I wasn't paying attention, and he told me over the line that it couldn't be them because they do not sell coconut shrimp anymore. He then asked me for the order number which is completely fine of course, but his tone of voice was extremely rude over the line. He let me know they'd have to speak with a GM, and that they'd give me a call tomorrow. I didn't receive any apology, just blatant rudeness. The next day I didn't hear anything, so I call on my break, and spoke with a female general manager who was absolutely sweet. She wasn't able to help with the refund due to third party ordering via grub hub, but she was extremely professional, and helpful with helping me navigate towards receiving my refund. This was my first time ordering from this place ever... maybe sitting down in person would be a completely different experience, but I don't recommend ordering to go by any means. The Manager, Mike, he is over charging the Seniors for the All you can eat Salad Bar. The Posted Menu Price before 4pm is $14.29. Some seniors asked for a senior discount. Mike said, that is the senior discount price. Another senior said, How much will it be without the drink that comes with it. Mike said, it's the same price. This is totally unfair.
