The food was great and (in my opinion) better than other diners. Went to Spires in Carson and when my wife took a bite of her sandwich, she bites into plastic. It's the plastic that they portion the meat for each sandwich. Made us all lose our appetite. Manager was really nice and apologized and told us it was from the meat and gave us a full refund. One line review: good portions of average diner food. My wife had a very positive experience here in the weeks before I arrived and couldn't wait to go back. The time she had gone, the food and chips special on Wednesday night was huge. On the night we went together, she ordered it again, and I got the chicken fried steak, a comfort food for me. At a mere $10/plate, it's hard to complain. Portions were decent; seasoning was... mild (bland?), which in our family is not a desirable thing. The navy bean soup and salad were plenty big, just so-so in terms of flavor. My wife's fish was disappointingly small. My chicken fried steak was more generous, just... mild. The server was friendly enough. Parking was free in their lot. Bottom line: Decent diner fare but nothing special. I wanted to like it more than I did. The daily specials are pretty good, soup, salad, main meal and desert, usually all for under 11.00, a real steal. Parking is decent although this is somewhat of a truckers corridor. My husband and I went to have breakfast and our server, Patty, gave us amazing customer service. She said she wanted our experience to feel as though we were eating at home and being treated well. We came in here the other evening. This place never disappoints, they are the go to spot especially when you're not sure what you want to eat. Breakfast at 8pm why not? Worst service experience of my life. I felt like an idiot just standing here waiting to be noticed . Then I ended up sitting down on my own and waited like ten minutes for this bih to come give me a menu so I just walked back up and was standing there waiting for this other guy placing his order before me (he took a long time because he couldn't spell provolone) Then after an eternity, lady asked me what I wanted (I come here every now and then, get seated and handed a menu) I told the lady well could I see a menu. She points to one.
