While in transition from temporary room in someone's apartment to my own place, I was left with no washer/dryer. This was a problem since I went through clothes quickly (one outfit for work, another to do dinner/go for a walk in) and my laundry basket seemed to always be full. This lead me to a Yelp search of 24/7 laundromats in my area. Spincycle was located down Oltorf and behind HEB, score. I loaded up my car full of clothes and pulled into Spincycle at 10p.m. on a Tuesday night. I was surprised to see many people there doing laundry but even with a few families and cool young people, there were plenty of machines open for use. The place isn't cheap by any means but they have a 24/7 attendant constantly walking around picking up dust balls and dryer sheets and wiping down all the machines. Most of the time, I used the 2-3 load washers to get my clothes done (faster than waiting for every load to finish), which is probably why . Those machines only took 45 minutes to complete a wash cycle then I threw everything in the dryer for about an hour. Although pricey, this location was clean and made washing/drying my clothes every other week quick and easy. Now my closet smells of lavender and flowers blossoms, mmmmmm. read more

The pros and cons: Pros: - open 24 hrs - change machine that accepts $1,5,10 and 20 dollar bills - sell materials you forget/run out of (albeit expensive) - next to HEB so you can get your grocery shopping done simultaneously - always have open washers and dyers Cons: - staff is either engaged and helpful OR slow as molasses and inconvenienced - inconsistent wash and fold service (details below) - cash only - does not state on website (pay cash up front for wash and fold) - sketchy characters hanging out in the grassy area in front of store Washers: $2.50-5 per load Dryers: $0.50/7 minutes - various sizes and temperatures, usually don't take more than 30 minutes depending on how big the load is (I line dry/lay clothes flat 25% of my items Wash and fold: $1.09/ pound next day, $1.30/same day service I have a lot of athletic clothes with elastic that I don't like to dry, sweaters and other delicate items. BE CAREFUL with what items you send to this service. I have asked them not to put items in the dryer - they ended up sitting in my lingerie bags until I came to pick them up. Since I was out of town for a few days, they had a slightly moldy smell and were still wet. Days later. The next time I asked them to line dry my items and my clothes were all placed on wire hangars and bundled together on wire hangars in plastic wrap. Good thing I like my sweaters with the "off the shoulder" stretched out look and I had extra underwear because since the items were unable to air dry when bundled together and placed under a plastic cover, nothing was actually dry when I was packing for a trip out of town. Overall, I will return but wash certain delicates and anything needed to it "lay flat to dry" myself. read more

My review may be a little askew as I only go into this place after midnight but it is also why I like this place so much. Pros: 24 hours Clean Pinball FREE Wifi TVs I don't really have any Cons for this place, I have seen people complain about the prices but they seem to be on par with other places who are NOT 24/7. Although having automatic doors would be nice I also understand that they probably do not own the building so remodeling is probably not an option. This is also the cleanest laundromat that I have been inside in Austin but then again this could be attributed to the time that I am there. Now onto the side things that make the time more tolerable. Free Wifi is the best feature because I can stream things on my laptop or iPhone so it doesn't feel like I am just wasting away in a fabric softener hell. Pinball, man how I love Pinball.... They have had 3 machines in the year + that I have been here. And while the tables are not always in the best shape they do work and when they do not they get replaced quickly. If you are not wanting to waste your laundry quarters on pinball or you are technologically behind the times they have numerous TVs showing different shows, usually a 50/50 split Spanish and English. No one likes going to the laundromat but at least Spincycle provides options to take some of the sting out of it. read more

Fair. Effective. OK staff. +1 for being clean and I haven't seen any "out of order" signs scotch taped to any machines. I need to realize that this IS a Laundromat. Loud annoying TV's that cannot be drowned out, even with headphones. Children on a potential sugar high, but worse...children's parents feeding said children the store brand sodas to distract them from the redundant chore of washing said children's clothes, which are likely stained with store brand soda. I am a recent Austin transplant from Los Ángeles and I must say that although the staff were very attentive and helpful I found the prices quite expensive compared to businesses offering the same services in Los Ángeles and San Diego, California. What really shocked me was the dryers at $1.25 per 35 minutes. Maybe that is just the way it is out here in Austin. But over all three stars, nice staff, open 24 hours, bright with plenty of seating and machines, however a little over priced, could be a bit cleaner in the bathroom, and they might need an ATM if you ask me. First of all, I HATE laundromats. I haven't lived somewhere without a washer and dryer for many years, so the thought of actually stepping foot into one of these places pushed me into a state of denial about the fact that my laundry was getting out of control. When one of my cats disappeared into my laundry bag today and I literally couldn't find him because I had so much laundry to do, I decided I needed to get over my fear and just do it. Spincycle is down the street from my pad, and was the first laundromat I saw, so I decided to check it out. The first thing that annoyed me was that they have TVs on which were showing one of those daytime judge shows. Good lord. Secondly there are a lot of children in here as the other reviews say. They weren't horribly annoying, but there were just so many of them. On the positive side, there are a lot of machines and it wasn't too crowded, the place is open 24 hours, and for a laundromat it's relatively clean. Oh, and they have wi-fi which helped me tune out Judge Joe Brown. I now have clean clothes again. I don't have to step foot in a laundromat for at least another week. Although, I'm seriously thinking about going clothes shopping right now so I can stretch my time between visits out a little more. For the convenience factor alone I will probably visit Spincycle again. Just don't expect me to be too excited about it. read more

The machine selection here is great, and they take card which is one of the main reasons I go out of my way to go here. It's usually as clean as you could ask a laundromat to be. The restroom on the other hand is like a truck stop (at least the mens) despite the password protection. There's TVs everywhere and outlets for charging phone while you wait so you can stay entertained. My biggest complaint is the horrible vending machine. The "touchscreen" requires you to press so hard you need a running start. Then it rejects any coins you try to put in (I'm at the laundromat, my pockets are full of quarters) forcing you to feed it bills, then gives the wrong change IN DIMES! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THESE? So yeah. Good for washing clothes, but bring your own snacks and remember to pee before you leave the house! read more

I spend about $40 a week here doing my laundry. Yes, I have OCD, a 3 year old and I have to do my own laundry for work- I work at a spa. My apartment complex has one of those green, euro laundry machines in it that only allows me to wash 3 socks and a pillow case in 4 hours. How is THAT green? I had my ass chapped here recently. After finishing my 12 loads of laundry I only had enough change for one of their dryers. I went over to the convenient "Bill Breaker" machine to break one of my 20's. The sign said it was out of order. So I asked one of the usually nice women who work there if she could break my $20 into two tens and was told, "Sorry, we don't have change." Hmmmm, an ALL CASH BUSINESS can't break $20 into smaller bills? I asked around and almost everyone I asked said, "Oh, I had to ask the lady to break my bills because the machine is broken." So I guess this is personal. From now on I will take my business to the laundry mat on Bluebonnet. read more

Look, I don't know many people who would hang out at laundromats in their spare time. You're not going to do that at Spincycle, but when you are here, you'll have a painless experience. It's very clean and large enough to fit a lot of people. I was here on a Saturday and it never got overcrowded, even with almost all the machines in-use. They have a good selection of washers depending on your load size, although the large ones run $4.25 for a load. The dryers do 7 minutes per quarter, so you usually have to put in at least $1.25 to get things dry. If you've got to clean your stuff, bring it here :) read more

Went there to have them launder two heavy bedspreads and some other things. Items were ready on time and beautifully folded. It was $42 for 24 pounds which is high but ok for a onetime trip. The bad: they do not take cards for services like this. Very inconvenient since I don't carry much cash. All the machines have swipe devices as well as soap dispensers. Why not services? Because of this I give four stars instead of five. read more

Right next to the HEB in a bit of a sketchy neighborhood, you do see some shady-seeming people out and about, but if you keep an eye on your clothes, you're fine. The machines are a little on the pricey side, however, they do offer machines that wash and dry up to 8 loads at a time. They have TVs that are either too loud, or you can never hear, so that's neither a pro nor a con. Free wifi that works fairly well, open 24/7, and they have coin converters. The bathrooms require a code to open, but the staff doesn't really appear to like people asking them for the code. There are some kids running around the area, but I find they are fairly easily ignored with headphones. There are a couple different areas for you to be seated around, and ample folding space. Conclusion: It's not too bad, but there are better places. read more

My only beef with this place is (and beware) they have a counter, with a cash register, for 'fluff n load' customers, but they WILL NOT give you change. which means i ended up with $20 in quarters. guess i'm set for awhile! however, the gal at the register was basically sweet and pretty apologetic about the store policy. It's a bit 'laundromat-for-dummies' styled in here, which I like, since I am pretty much a dummy when it comes to laundering. they break down each section of washers by how many loads it can it, with helpful, color coded signs over each. i managed to wash and dry 3 bedrooms worth of bedding for $6.50. pretty good deal if you ask me. the place is pretty clean, they have a few flat screens around, as well as shiny new soda and snack machines, and arcades for the kiddies. even a little lounge area in the front. lots of parking and it looks as though they're expanding. it felt safe enough for me to leave during both washing and drying cycles to run quick errands nearby (HEB is next door). all in all, it wins. I dropped off my sheets on Monday to be laundered and when I picked them up I realized I was missing a pillow case. It's dark grey so I can't just go out and replace it easily. I'd have to buy a whole new sheet set. So I call every day trying to get in contact with Jeffe the manager there. And after four days of people telling me they will have him call me he still has not Called me. I went in person today after being told he would be there this morning and he wasn't there. Im getting extremely frustrated and just want to get this resolved. People should be able to drop off a small load of laundry and get it back in total. read more

This place is usually busy and has its fair share of screaming kids running around but then again thats expected for a laundry mat. What's not expected is there unprofessional wash and fold laundry service. First off they demand payment up front which is unusual. But it makes sense if they decide NOT to return all of your clothing items. A pair of lululemon shorts and a blue under armor hat were conveniently missing out of my laundry items upon pick-up. They offered no amends and could have cared less...which I felt was the worst part of their business ethics. Mary seemed nice enough over the phone to keep me informed but only when I called in to speak to her. She never bothered to call me back even when she told me she would. I've bitterly given up on my shorts and cap becasue I'm sure they are gone. This is why I will never give them a penny more of my business. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from there. And overall...on the items I did get back, their were plenty of black long hairs on my folded sheets and shirts which is disgusting. read more

I have used the wash/fold service at the SpinCycle on Congress for a year now. I started using them when my mother had a crippling accident and bearing the load of double washing became too much. Not only is my laundry promptly cleaned & expertly folded/wrapped, but the pleasant and courteous attitude of the people that work there make it worth my while to give this store my business versus others that are closer. I refuse to spend my money at places where customer service isn't held to a high standard (even if the product is great.). I bought a $25 credit through Yelp. I'm here now and the current attendant is telling me she doesn't honor Yelp credits. I suspect she genuinely doesn't know how, but I'm kind of taken aback by how rude she is about it. She made a point to tell me she can't make the machines run on credit, but as I'm typing this she is turning on 3 machines for free for someone else. Not before yelling at this customer in front of everyone though. Amazing first impression. Beware if you are thinking of buying the credit. I do my laundry here for a few reasons: 1) They have multiple load washers, 2) Their dryers are huge, and 3) Their dryers are far better than the ones in my apartment complex. Oh, and there's the last little detail - my roommate always has the laundry room key. I haven't seen it in three months now. Thanks, roommate! /sarcasm Here are some tips and tricks on how to make your experience efficient: * Forgot to get some quarters? They have change machines here. If you don't want to go that route, the building is located right next to H-E-B; you can either use their change machine (it accepts $1s and $5s only), or go to the customer service counter and get a roll of quarters. * Forgot to bring your laundry detergent? They sell some here, too. Don't want to buy it from here? Go to the H-E-B next door and pick some up. * There are several machines here in all sizes. Have a ton of clothes to wash? Use the 4 or 5 load washers. Not that many clothes? Use the 2 load washers. * The dryers are huge and efficient. * It will cost you $2.25 to use a two load washer and the cycle lasts a little less than 30 minutes. * I can put in $1.00 and get 45 minutes of dryer time, which is enough to dry all of my clothes. That's right - it will dry my 2-3 loads of clothes with no problems in less than an hour. Awesome. * I don't know why people are saying this is expensive - these are the same prices you'll pay all over Austin. This is actually cheaper than my apartment and the last laundromat I used AND these machines are better. * There are multiple televisions and they're set to all kinds of channels - watch these if you get bored. Or bring a book or something. Or do what I do and run errands while your clothes are being washed and dried. None of my stuff has ever been stolen in all the times I've left clothes there. Here are some tip(s) on how not to be a jerk while doing your laundry: * If you are using every single two load washer, you are doing it wrong. That's why they have 5 load washers. You'd probably save some money, too, if you used one big washer instead of multiple smaller ones and that just makes dollars AND cents. (And sense, you know, for punniness.) Seriously - there's no need for 2-3 washers full of darks and 2-3 washers full of whites to not just be in 2 big washers. (I'm sure there's some reason for it, though, so whatever. Just do what you want. I'm just a person, not a cop.) Other useful information: they have wifi here, the parking lot is a decent size, and they are open 24 hours. Every time I've gone, there have been plenty of free machines. People generally keep to themselves, but they can also be friendly and they'll chat with you if you're super bored. Everything is clean and I'm not ever worried my clothes are going to get messed up. Oh, look at that - this is probably one of the longest reviews I've ever written and it's about my laundromat. I wanted to give a huge HUGE thank you to Jose for being an amazing informant to me on my first ever visit to SpinZone! Because I didn't know how anything worked he went over the whole process with me and YES he absolutely went above and beyond -outstanding guest service! The laundromat itself is extremely spacious. I've actually never been in one so big and open before, so it's not the usual cramped space I'm accustomed to which was a plus for me! The restrooms (which have a punch code for access )were clean and the mat as well. Also free WiFi is available here! The passcode can be found either with one of the employees or at the front desk. Hotel guests looking for a way to wash their sweat-soaked clothes should come here. A 5 minute rideshare will get you here for about $8 (free if you are a first-time user of Ride Austin). I paid $2.25 for one load in a washer with a two-load capacity. They also have ones with three and five load capacity. They sell soap and have change machines that will change $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills. The dryers cost $0.25 for about 8 minutes. I put in $1.00 and my load was dry. Agree with others-- felt safe leaving load and walking to the grocery store next door for some supplies. Bathroom impeccably clean as well. Nicest laundromat I have ever been in. read more

this spin cycle location isn't bad. definitely better than the one on stassney. the free wifi worked decently (not many power outlets near the seating section, though). as a nice change from my other experiences at laundromats, they actually had air conditioning! of course, there were lots of kids running around and mexican soap operas playing kind of loudly on all the overhead TVs. also an older lady sat waaaay too close for comfort to me (actually kind of rubbing up against me) while eating her really pungent cheese and mystery meat meal. but overall, it wasn't a scarring experience, which is what i strive for on laundry day. read more

We just moved here from a house with a decent sized laundry room and front loading washer and dryer to a little condo with a ridiculously small washer/dryer stacked apartment sized combo. I hated doing laundry in a house... now I despise it. So one day I wanted my husband to think I actually did stuff around the house when he was hard at work all day so I looked for wash and fold services near my house. After reading many reviews I headed to this place with allllll of my laundry that had piled up over the two weeks we had been here. Anyways... I got there and dropped off my stuff and they weighed it and then I had to pay. They only accept cash, so be prepared. And you have to pay upfront. I had to run across the street to get money from BOA. So, the next day I headed here to pick up my laundry and they had everything ready for me tied up in plastic bags. So when I got home I unwrapped everything..... THE SMELL! IT WAS AMAZING! I don't know what they do to make it smell so damn good but ooooohhhhwwwweeeeee!!! I made everyone smell my laundry. And they fold your socks and panties! (which I NEVER do) I really liked this place... although I am not sure anyone speaks english. The one thing I would fix is maybe they could have a drive up service where you don't actually have to get out of your car. I know, the ultimate laziness. But if you are already being lazy you might as well be lazy as f*ck. Also, they are doing renovations so I am sure it will only get better! read more

This place has a lot of washers and dryers and is reasonably clean and well kept. They also have a folding service I noticed but did not use. I have not been to a laundromat in the US in quite some time, so was quite surprised at the prices for doing a couple loads of laundry! They do have different sizes of washers ranging from (I believe) 2.50 to 4.50 per load. I have not tried another laundromat in town so cannot really compare. Pros - fairly clean (not spotless by any means), tvs mounted to watch while you do your laundry (also they have vending machines and arcade games), lots of units Cons - pricey in my opinion read more

They had (trashy) "news" on the TV, old school pinball and video games (Galaga BABY!!!), and free wifi. Wi Fi in a laundromat. Next thing you know they are gonna be giving away free candy, and I won't ever leave (and they are open 24/7, so I won't have to). read more

They have the most difficult bill changing machines I have ever tried to use! You can have a nearly perfect bill and the machines will either not take it at all or you have to try five or six times. Every change machine they have is the same. Then apparently they have the washers set so they leave your clothes really wet. I'm sure they do this on purpose so they can charge more for the dryer time to get the clothes dry. Every machine I have used there does it. They are very nice, new looking washers but none spin like they should. My front loading washer which is out of order now, spins the clothes to where some are almost dry. Regardless of their machines looking new, they are obviously set this way intentionally. read more

My dryer died and having been here before with no problems, I brought couple baskets of wash. Positive: this time unfortunately can't say much other than they have new card system (so no need for quarters...load your card up and have fun washing & drying. Negative: -wifi was completely useless (tried on both iPhone and iPad with no luck) -seems new machines gave them the right to make machines more expensive. Completely wasted time money and effort washing clothes because none of the stains I had on clothes came out (and yes I used soap and the correct settings. Folding clothes and after noticing stains still there I sensed that my clothes didn't smell the same as when I used the same dryer sheets at home. In fact, not even close. I don't know how to describe the smell, other than it wasn't my scent or the dryer scent. Now after loading a card up and wasting about 2 hours, I can say that I won't be coming back here. Even with the updates, the fact of weird smelling not clean clothes after going in with better smelling dirty clothes, I will simply skip another trip here. read more

The facility is clean with a lot of working machines. Can pay with cash or credit card; however, there is minimal seating and facility runs hot. When I say minimal seating, I mean minimal. Majority of the people have to stand and wait. Also, strangely you have to inquire about a code for the bathroom and only 1 toilet for the females throughout the big facility. Unfortunately, even with the multitude of TV's and the cleanliness, I was so uncomfortable having to stand the entire time. Will not go again. Not a good setup for me. read more
