This is a pretty good place to do your laundry as it is pretty spacious with lots of seating and areas to fold clothes. They have older and newer washing machines and dryers here too. I suggest sticking with the newer washing machines because it is a pain to use the older ones as sometimes your coins get stuck and there is not anyone around to get your money back. Sometimes you have to bang the coin boxes of the older machines so my advice is stick with the newer ones. They also have a washing machine that takes like 6 loads of laundry which is great if you have allot of clothes and sheets to wash and its about 9$ on medium to wash which isn't so bad. The only negative is that you have to use quarters to use these machines and they don't have a card system like other laundry mats but there are plenty of change machines. read more

HOURS: Google says they close at 9pm, Yelp says 11pm. How it actually works is the sign on the door says "Last load at 9pm, open until 11pm". PRICES: A "3-load" washer cost $5.25. I can't remember the prices for the other sizes. And as per below, a "3-load" washer is the same size as a typical large front-load home washer. PROS: (1) Variety of machine sizes: 2, 3, 4, and 6-loaders. (Though in reality, "3 loads" = 1 load in a full-size front-load home washer. (2) Little coffeeshop onsite, with seating/study area. Small chess club on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons. Tons of newspapers and magazines to avail yourself of while you wait, along with a multigame arcade machine (PacMan, Galaga, etc.), and a quarter-pusher game. CONS: (1) Machines take only quarters. In 2025 that's just bizarre. No laundry card, no credit card, just quarters. And sometimes the quarters get jammed in the machines, because that's the nature of quarters. Yes, they do have a change machine, that takes $10 and $20 bills. (2) A large percentage of machines are out of order, including *all* the 5-loader machines when I was there. (3) On weekend days the machine size you want might not be available, from a combination of lots of out-of-order machines and lots of customers. On most evenings you should be fine. (4) No website to clarify things like Last-Load time, Doors-Close time. HOW TO MEASURE DETERGENT: The machines are labeled, 2, 3, 4, and 6 loads. That's based on the capacity of a tiny machine that you'll never see in your life. For comparison, "3 loads" at Spin Cycle = 1 load for a full-size front-load home washer. Owner/franchise holder enjoys posting nagging signs. However, the No Running No Playing one does not apply to the employees' children. They ran and rode a scooter through the laundromat. I asked the employee about the policy and was it does not apply at night when it is not busy. When I objected how I was nearly run over several times, he said it was my fault. I have used the laundromat for years. I accept a certain Austin weirdness from the time it closed early for a Halloween "Everything All at Once" party to the time a person kept tying and untying strings on a bundle and using a large knife to cut the string. I have never felt in fear of my safety until tonight at the business. read more

And the employees' wages have never been raised since the new ownership three years ago. And the signage is still in disrepair. And a whole wall of dryers is "out of order," with a dozen junked washing machines crammed into the aisle along it. So where's all this increased revenue going? It's fine. Owner has some messed up priorities, but clothes get cleaner than they do with my apartment washers (not as clean as they get with your own washer though). A bunch of the machines have been broken for more than 6 months and there's a pile of broken machines by the ATM. They're also really bad about keeping the washers closed, so they stink, and it feels gross putting your stuff in there. They've raised prices (3 load machine is $4 and 4 load machine is $5.50) but there are fewer machines available and they keep adding arcade game machines instead of fixing the broken washers and dryers. Drying is way too expensive and the machines aren't very efficient, so it takes a long time. I dry at home. read more

I have gone to this laundromat for years because it's safe and clean and the machines work fine and never ruin my clothes (an issue at another place). I made the mistake of switching a few weeks ago when traffic for the 37th Street Lights made it hard to park. My new laundromat had newer machines, but I saw the error of my ways when my laundry was stolen. That never happened to me in all my years at Spincycle! Some other things I took for granted are clean machines, friendly patrons, TVs and other entertainment, and helpful and watchful staff. The downside is old machines, but they are good at labeling the ones that are broken and getting them fixed. I also dislike the requirement for cash, and sometimes it's hard to find parking in the front. Those are minor flaws really, this is the best laundromat in the area. read more

We just moved to Austin and don't yet have a washer / dryer so we came here! It's...well...a laundromat. Coming from NYC we were surprised the machines don't take preloaded cards, still all coin operated (you can get coins on site) it's a little old, a little run down but clean enough to where you don't feel like your clothes will be dirtier when you leave. Bring your own detergent / dryer sheets. They have them here but they're expensive (75cents for 2 bounce sheets) but they come in a cute little box. Will we be back? Possibly. Drop off your washable clothes or oversized or extremely dirty items that don't work well in your home machine, and they will wash, dry and neatly fold the items for pick up after 5:00 pm. They charge by the pound, cash only. I have found the service to be prompt, carefully cleaned items, ready when they say they will be and a good value. I take large king sized bedding items which turn into a big hot mess in my home dryer. It is very much worth the $9.50 to have them do them. Love, love, love that service! read more

So, I once heard of this laundromat in Seattle that had a bar in it....or was it a bar with a laundromat in it? Anyways, since then I have thought about how you could make a serious killing if you could make that happen on or near campus here in Austin. That being said...this laundromat does not have alcohol (boo!), but it does have pinball (yay!), wifi (yay!), two change machines (yay!), a friendly attendant who will give you change and clean up (yay!) and there is ice cream and snacks and clean bathrooms! There aren't like a ton of housewives with their seventeen kids using the laundry carts to try out for the luge. There isn't a weird smell throughout. You can actually use the restrooms. The other patrons seem normal. The machines work. HOLY CRAP...the machines work! This is the pinnacle of laundromats!!! (except they need booze) read more

I have been doing laundry here for about a year (it's the closest to my house) and had an awful experience with an employee named Johnny on 1/28/22. By complete accident, I was folding laundry on the table that was reserved for employees, I did not see the very small signage black on blue that said "reserved" on the table. All of a sudden Johnny started screaming at me to GET OUT and to pay attention to the signage. Literally yelling nonstop and coming so close to me that I was scared. I was trying to get off the table but keeping things organizing and he just started shouting louder to hurry up as I was shaking. There were other empty tables he could have used. Didn't bother to ask nicely to use another table, just screamed until I was able to get my things together and making me feel like an idiot for overlooking the sign. I am pretty sure he was messed up on drugs, by the way he was acting. It was a nightmare. I hate writing bad reviews because I don't like hurting local companies. I called several times to talk to the owner about this man's abusive behavior and could not get through. This place is more expensive than any other laundromat, you have to go out of your way to have cash bc only quarters are accepted. If you have to go here, beware of the bald tatted up guy wearing filthy clothes! I will never go back! read more

After being a regular customer for about 10 years, I'm disappointed to say I'm going to have to find a different laundromat. This place has really gone downhill in the last couple of years. Lots of machines are out of order (an entire row of top-loading washers has been out for quite a while; Numerous others and some dryers are peppered throughout the place.) Some have standing, leftover fabric softener from other customers. I've noticed a price increase on the largest washing machines on at least two occasions within the last year (currently set at $5.) Also, the dryers used to operate on a single quarter, but now require 4 to start. Even if you just need a few more minutes of drying, you have no choice but to pay a full dollar. I also noticed that the time allotment is less per quarter now on the dryers compared to previously. All in all, it's a shame that this business is giving customers less for more. I hope they'll listen to feedback and make improvements. The place is spacious and in a great location, but the overall experience and value is not worth it. read more

The people who run this place are very friendly and I loved how economical it was. They have older machines that still work very well, and some do not but they are well-labeled. There is dryer machine where the start button does not work, but then there is another button added instead and that one isn't labeled well. They will explain it if you ask them! I went there on a Thursday evening. The last wash is at 9:30 and they close at 11:00 PM. The doors lock at 9:30 but they will let you back in if your laundry is in the machines. But if you start your wash after 9:30 you might have to come back for it the next morning. Most favorite thing about the place: It has an arcade with a vintage Elvis pinball machine in working order. I loved that. Please be gentle with it if you play it. It's precious. Somehow it gave me a free ball 3 different times when I whiffed. This makes up for inconvenience. They have some machines that take $6 in quarters for a large wash, and it washes very well and doesn't take too long (25 minutes). There are change machines where you can get quarters for a $5 or $10 or $20 bill. One of them says to put the bill in face up, and the other one says to put it in face down. Don't let the cheap dryer price fool you: I had to run several items 3 times before I gave up and just took them home. Didn't make sense at all, because I didn't overload the dryer, and some thicker items were totally dry while some thinner items were still soaked. Totally random, except the towels were all soaked, which makes sense I guess. Fix your dryers and I'll edit my review. read more

I remember back in the day we would do laundry at a crappy laundromat every weekend. I couldn't think of a better way to waste time then sitting somewhere like that, surrounded by creepers and wierdos. We were poor and the place we went to wasn't in the best area. I totally thought all laundromats were the same. This one blew me away. It's so clean. All the machines are well maintained and the employees were super nice. they even have a service where you can leave your clothes and they will wash and fold everything for you. Just pick up your clean laundry the following day. I still hate sitting around and waiting. I feel like my life is being sucked out of me every minute I'm stuck inside doing nothing. Such a bummer. I have been washing my clothes here on and off for at least 15 years. Never had an issue until last week, I was in a rush and had zero time to do my laundry before a trip out of town. Brought everything in and dropped it off with the attendant who was super nice. Total cost $27. Cool. See you tomorrow when it's ready. Go to pick up the next day, go home, pack my bag to leave town and I go. Upon returning home and finally putting my laundry away, I discover that there are at least 5 nice shirts, a couple pair of jeans and at least 5 pair of underwear missing. What the hell? Go back the following day to report the missing items and was told by the same attendant, "that's the second time this week". I'm really bummed out about this, no offer of a refund, no apology, nothing. Don't make the same mistake I did, don't trust these guys with your clothes. Spin cycle is a perfectly respectable and likeable laundromat: clean, bright, non-sketchy, and packed with a glorious abundance of industrial-strength washers and dryers. They even have a pinball machine and an ice cream cone machine. Cool. Sometimes the televisions are a bit too loud for anything more than light reading, but, hey, what's the alternative? That said, I must warn you that while Spin Cycle is ostensibly open until 2 am, they have a policy of locking the doors about an hour or more before the official close time. My first year in Austin, I lived in a house with a washer but no dryer (wtf?). So I'd trek over to Spin Cycle every two weeks with a pile of wet clothes. One night I showed up at 12:50 with pile in tow, only to find the doors locked. "Oh darn!" I exclaimed. No loads after 1:00?? But it's only 12:50... And I only need to dry! I shouted my predicament though the door to the old Mexican lady who was mopping the floor and doing her best to ignore my sorry ass. She shouted back Spanish phrases that I could not understand, though, for all I know, the conversation went like this: "I only have to dry! I only have to dry!" [Spanish translation of]"I'm tired, I'm hungry, and I have the Gilmore Girls TiVoed at home. Fuck Off." So, yes, I had to drive home with a soaking pile of clothes and lay them out over my entire bedroom. I relate this terrible tale (1) so that you may learn from my errors and (2) to let Spin Cycle know that it served me well and that I hold no grudges! Still, this was truly the day that I learned the meaning of the word "shame." Not because of anything having to do with being locked out of Spin Cycle but rather because it was also the day that I bought my first dictionary. read more

Spin Cycle- We've been together awhile and things were great. Until now. I think it is best we go our separate ways. I have been washing and drying at Spin Cycle since 2001 or 2002 (roundabouts dawn of the millennium). Things were great: An attendant who keeps it clean (seriously, if an item of clothing falls onto the floor, it is not covered in dysentery-laced mud). Extra shout-out to the attendant: feels safer in there, especially for us ladies who wash alone. I actually saw a rage and Jameson-fueled ass get into it with the old Hispanic lady that used to work evenings. Dudes stepped in and police were called because it is illegal to threaten old ladies. So, yeah, even crazy people wash their clothes. Washers that actually wash. Pay the extra 25 cents for the the pre-wash. It is great. And there are certain washers, I won't say which, that are messed up and the pre-wash is about 20 minutes. Great for that blanket your brother borrowed and stank up with his male-funk sweat. TVs at each station (that used to work...) And TVs above. Nice distraction. Pinball and vending machine. If all those quarters are burning a hole in your pocket. Eh wi-fi. Sometimes it' down. And the attendant can't help it if it is. But really, people, a few hours offline will not kill you. Note I said a few HOURS. And onto the bad: The dryers. Oh, the dryers. They don't work. It now takes me almost three hours and many, many quarters to dry my weekly loads. I do laundry after work and I cannot stand being there until almost midnight because the dryers are so cool-natured. Never had the staining issue others have had, but wet clothes abound. And, there has been hispter-infestation as of late. I actually had the opportunity to listen to a pre-mating ritual where two hipsters discussed their "ironic" love of Phil Collins. And one, who carried a doll (?), put her doll on top of my stacked clothes on the folding table while she moved her stuff from washer to dryer. Um, no. I'm not stowing your accessories of irony. But, we has a good run, Spin Cycle. Over a decade. But I must move on. I'm just not happy anymore. read more

My girlfriend and I have been to Spincycle 5-6 times because it is close, and it is generally a fine place to do laundry. However the last time we went (and will ever go), our brand new, bright white sheets got rust stains all over them. We took the sheets to the counter and asked to be reimbursed. The manager, his name is Phong Tran, said it was our fault, and that we needed to make sure there wasn't any candy in the machines before we did our wash. He actually said that. Because Rolos and Snickers stain a nice rustic orange color. So, now we need new sheets, new pillow shams, and will never be going to Spincycle again. Thanks Phong! read more

Whoever decided to offer free wireless internet service in a laundromat is a genius! I hate having to take my clothes somewhere to wash, but whenever I do, I'll go out of my way to take them here. There's lots of small tv's for individualized watching by the folding tables. They also have wash machines that can handle 5, 4, 2, and single loads of laundry. Usually when I resort to taking them here, I;ll throw them all in one huge machine. The prices aren't too bad, either. And, of course, they have free wireless internet...perfect for college students and Yelp addicts, such as myself. Why only four stars? My friend Danielle accidentally left some clothes in a dryer and they were stolen within a couple of hours. Apparently some guy had been hitting this place up and taking it to Buffalo Exchange to sell the clothes. My advice, just keep an eye on your clothes!!! read more

Laundry at Spincycle is more like entertainment on the cheap, and you happen to have clean underwear and socks when you leave. I was going there for a while until the new apartment I moved in to came with a washer and dryer, but I looked forward to/loathed the idea of doing my laundry at Spincycle for the same reason most people do; there's generally always an eclectic crowd out washin their britches at all hours of the day. -I love people watching, so that's a plus for this place, though I've had some really unpleasant experiences with some folks in there. -I like a clean laundromat, so that's another plus. -I don't like loud tv's with episodes of Real TV and World's Most Dangerous Police Chases playing constantly, and there seemed to be a lot of that. -I don't like that I was told I couldn't get change for a $20 a couple of times and would simply have to put the whole bill in the change machine. I wouldn't ever choose to do my laundry over doing something else, but if it was between doing my laundry there and doing it elsewhere, I'd pick spincycle in heartbeat. So, about this favorite shirt: it's a blue one from Common Grounds up in Waco. It's the coffee cup design that they don't make anymore. The big "Keep Waco Wacko" on the back always gave people down here a chuckle. It went with my happy blue FiveFingers, and hell yes, I am a proud footsie-shoe wearing geek. And oh, it was soft--one of those rare American Apparel shirts that didn't automatically bleach or fade out in the laundry. This, of course, was the shirt that went missing from my laundry. Granted, there's probably quite some butthurt over the fact that it was *that* shirt and not one of the others that I'd miss less, but when I drop off laundry, I typically expect all of it to be there when I pick it up. Maybe I was spoiled by Waco Wonder Wash, but when a customer's item goes missing, you shouldn't blow it off for a couple weeks, then finally hand over the name of a manager who's so uninvolved with the daily goings-on of the actual business that he's zero help at all--that is, if he's ever in the building. The man seems to keep somewhat sporadic and quite limited hours. FYI: a simple pop-in and pop-out every now and then without getting a full update on the day's transactions isn't the best way to manage a business. Moreover, I definitely don't appreciate being told "oh, maybe we can work out a credit or something" when that never actually materializes into anything. Either you have the authority to make even the hint of such a promise or you don't. Don't make 'em if your manager won't even have a clue that anything's gone missing in the first place. I expected more regret and less passing the buck when something went amiss. I know there are the standard CYA policies in place about damage to bulk laundry, but when other places go the extra mile anyway to make up for anything fubar that happens on their watch, it's not worth going to the ones that blow you off. The Spincycle Coin Laundry is a fine place to do laundry. It's not the hip, comfortable place I expected from other reviews I'd read but I should have realized that at the end of the day, it is still just a Laundromat. There is wi-fi which is a great feature. It makes spending the waiting game much more tolerable. There are also TVs built into the folding tables which is a nice feature but can also be a little annoying. It seems like they do a good job of maintaining the machines despite the complaints I heard from fellow laundry washers. You can choose from 1, 2, 4 or 5 load machines for wash which cost $1.50, $2.25, $3.50 and $4.25 respectively. Definitely a better deal with the bigger machines. The dryers are slightly confusing as all you see is the price is 25 cents at a time. You don't know until you put the quarter in that the dryer runs for 8 minutes for each quarter. Overall, the Spincycle Coin Laundry is clean and there are plenty of activities to keep you from dying of boredom. I didn't try the arcade games but that's an option there too. No one likes doing laundry but the Spincycle Coin Laundry at least tries to make it an enjoyable experience. read more

Ahhh, the delights of going back to school & renting an older duplex. No W/D, no dishwasher, no garbage disposal, no closet space, etc. etc. etc. Spin-Cycle is the only laundromat I've ever been to, and up until the last few times, I've been as satisfied as one can be by a laundromat. The free wifi is nice, the interior is clean, there's a LOT of machines, and generally not too many bare-footed smelly children running around. However, on our last 2 laundry days, the attendant has been extremely rude. Let me elaborate. The folding tables have small TVs in front of them; in order to turn on the TV you have to ask the attendant for the remote. On separate occasions, my husband & I have asked very nicely for the remote ("Excuse me, but could I get the remote for the TV?") and in response the attendant looked at us tapping her foot and said "PLEASE?!?!" How dare she!!!! Our question was perfectly polite, whether or not we said please. This is not our grandmother we were talking to, and in this particular situation, I think our question was fine as phrased. Regardless, her insistence on "please" definitely cost her a "thank you." I'm absolutely appalled by the rudeness of the attendant and will be doing my laundry duty elsewhere from now on. read more

I like this place! My all-time favorite laundromat is the place next to Quack's in Hyde Park, just because the people watching is fairly epic and I can do some quick grocery shopping during my drying cycle, but this place is pretty alright. It's clean, it's got free wifi, and the machines seem to be pretty well-maintained. Since I wear and use mostly dark fabrics, I can typically load a week's worth of laundry into one 5-load machine and come out clean for just $4.25. Today, I had to wash two kitchen throw-rugs in a 2-load machine, so that bumped it up by $2.25. By the time all is said and dried, I should be out of here for under $9.00. The driers are $.25 for 8 minutes, and I usually split my "five loads" into two driers, and run them each for 24-32 minutes. Bonus fact: They have a pinball machine, a videogame, two conventional vending machines, and an ice cream vending machine! Also, a massage chair. read more
