The food was genuinely great. The pizza had a light crust with the perfect amount of char, and the…read morefocaccia was amazing. Based on the food alone, this easily could have been a 4-star experience. Unfortunately, the service made us feel like we were an inconvenience from the moment we walked in. We didn't have a reservation, and I completely understand that it was a Friday around 6 p.m. in a small restaurant near the Old Market. We fully expected we might have to wait. Instead, we were told, "Well, all I have is this table for two, but I need it by 7." It was about 5:45, so we said that was totally fine and we'd easily be finished by then. From that point on, though, it felt like the clock was ticking. We were seated and immediately given water, which was great, but we already felt rushed so we quickly chose a pizza and focaccia to split. Once the food arrived, the check-ins became frequent enough that it was hard not to notice. As soon as we took the last piece of focaccia, the board was whisked away. As soon as we took the last piece of pizza, that was cleared too. The check came almost immediately. We were in and out in about 30 minutes...roughly 45 minutes before they actually needed the table. Take that for what it's worth, positive or negative. I want to give a lot of grace because it was a busy Friday night, but the overall atmosphere from the service, including a hostess who seemed visibly unhappy much of the time, kept this from being a four-star experience for us. The food is absolutely worth having again, but next time we'd probably choose carryout so we can enjoy it without feeling like a nuisance for being there.

Is Omaha becoming a pizza city? It's hard to argue that it's not. Many high quality pizza joints…read morehave opened up in recent years and we now have a lot of great options. Very Important Pizza is one of them. Having lived on the east coast before moving to Omaha, I missed having an abundance of pizza by the slice options. Omaha has some, to be sure, but this is a nice addition to the scene. I stopped in recently to try a couple of slices since it's so close to where I work. I know food is a subjective thing but for me personally, the slices I had here are as good of New York style pizza as you will find here in Omaha. I had the Roni (pepperoni, in case you didn't pick up on that) and an olive/mushroom slice. These are the daily slices and it was nine bucks for both. Nice value. Perhaps I was hungry but the pepperoni was as good a slice of pizza as I've had here in Omaha. The crust was thin and perfectly crisp. Both slices were excellent. The location is on 25th, just north of Farnam. Best to enter for parking off of 25th. There is ample seating and the service was really good for my quick stop in. I look forward to trying the whole pies and other options they have.

The Omaha pizza market is very competitive. There are lots of great pizza places. The problem here…read moreis that there is nothing special about this pizza. It is average at best. The best part was the crust but it wasn't outstanding. The sauce was nothing special. The toppings were just okay. At $4.50 a slice, it is a fair value. If this place is just going to compete on location, maybe it can survive. The nearest competitor is Izzy's Pizza. I don't care for Detroit-style and the owner is highly political. I would never patronize Izzy's. Zio's has lots of toppings and sells by the slice. It also has pesto sauce. Many Omaha places now have those fancy Italian wood-burning ovens with very different toppings. Via Farina is a favorite. Dante is also good. Tasty Pizza (three locations) is low-priced but high quality with good toppings. There's also the cheese that can be added. This place is better than Domino's, but that's not saying much. In a way, Papa John's is better than VIP. Finally, it was 83 when I stopped in for lunch and it wasn't cool inside. A/C not running. Not good.

I would like to preface this by saying that I am not easily impressed by pizza. For the most part I…read morethink it's over hyped and usually pretty meh from any traditional pizza joint. The dough is either too bready, too bland, or just doesn't wow me enough to take note of. That being said, I went into this with very minimal expectations thinking it would be another mediocre pizza just to try. The prices are incredible. On DoorDash and the pizzas are $11 for a "try me" size which is already a large pizza. The choices looked interesting and combined with the low price I gave it a try and .. wow. This pizza DID wow me. I tried the Thai Chicken and an Ultimate (Combo) which is my usual go to anywhere. I was impressed by how big the $11 size pizza was and when I bit in I was further impressed by how delicious it was. You could tell it was fresh ingredients. The dough was perfect, not super doughy a nice thin but not overly crunchy, it was just right. The Thai chicken with the peanut sauce was so unique and yummy with a slight kick. I'm a wuss when it comes to spice but this was just enough I could handle in moderation and still enjoyed it. The combo was great. Fresh veggies, good bite everywhere and I could even eat the whole thing where other places I throw away crusts. One slice of these both was enough to fill me. I saw other reviewers say they got half and half which was not an option for delivery through DD but I wish it was as I would have loved to try some more of the unique topping options. That and I was missing some garlic sauce to dip it in! But other than those things I thought this place was great and I'll definitely order again to try more kinds. Yall made me a pizza believer again.

My response (for what it's worth) is that was time well spent. My husband and I ordered a Rustica and a pepperoni pizza. GUYS! The Pepperoni on the pizza is unlike any pepperoni I've ever had as well! We also ordered the Kale Caesar salad with REAL anchovy dressing. My chef husband said his impressions was centered around how good the diary products were. It's obvious they are gourmet. Another areas where I was happy was how the seasoning was on point! I can always tell a good chef is at the helm when I take my first bite and am greeted with FULL FLAVOR (which means they use salt!). Such good seasoning choices here. Needless to say I was so impressed. It's very much worth your effort and time to eat here. The service was very good, knowledgeable and kind. Chef Tim was out on the floor which was cool to see. He's got a great vibe to him. Caring (which does a long way in the services arena) and very knowledgeable. He's easy going and even tho' the place was crazy busy he was obviously in his element....relaxed. Cleaning tables. Interacting with guests. I love to see that. Makes the place feel cared for....and by proxy the guests. The wait staff were good at their jobs too. Working in the crazy with ease. A very well run place. Again, it's worth your time to go. Thankfully we don't live a long distance away from Dolomiti so we can order stuff to go. And on that note, It should be noted that the pizza was just as good (literally nothing was lost) the next morning when we ate the left overs for breakfast.

No worries though, once seated temps seem to regulate better. Service was a little slow, but we weren't in a rush. Bread and olive oil were a delight. The bread was soft with a nice crust, and it's just a little nosh until meals are served. I had the fettuccine with lobster, which had a sauce lighter than Alfredo, but thicker than broth. There was plenty of lobster sprinkled across the black pasta, with good flavor, not overcooked. With a normal appetite and not overindulging in bread, the serving size is just right. No leftovers. Overall, it seems like carb loading -- no veggies, no salad, lots of starch. Price for dinner is not too high, though cocktails are a little rich, but also very flavorful. I had an Old Fashioned that was fantastic! It's not too loud and the crowd was diverse -- families early on, first dates and couples later. Try it!
