For extra context, I was in the store 2 days prior and none of these house rules were mentioned when they told me about the event. Instead they posted these rules in their discord and never even told me about this server. TL:DR The employees themselves seem fine and nice, but whoever sets the prices and organizes events needs to do better.

They do not appear to have a routine fixed business location and have rotated around the suburbs of Washington DC for several years. Previously, NCMSS events had been held at Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale. During this show, the admission price was $10 per adult guest attending at the door. The venue was spread across several showrooms inside the Hilton Hotel chain location, in Springfield. There was a showroom for finished model kit displays, a tutorial class for hobbyists, and a vendor room for sellers hawking their wares / model kits. Been to this show previously, to try to inspire younger folks to take up the hobby; to no avail. At this show, most attendees and vendors looked to be post-retirement (over 65) in age. Not sure what the intent is, however, there appears to be a generational gap to relate to others and did not see any knowledge or skills being transferred here in any workshops or presentations. Overall: Wow - expensive admission, for something which should be FREE, if this is a civic-type organization show. Dealing with only a handful of repeat vendors, who exhibit cranky, geriatric whining about medical problems, politics, and long drive to "set up" at this show...only to overprice the merchandise...did not seem worthwhile. Definitely will skip this event in the future. Rating: (**) Meh. I've experienced better. Unfortunately, this group appears to be on the decline, winding away into "the-good-'ol-days-long-gone-bye-bye". RIP.

Thanksgiving items were listed at clearance at 40% off despite there were still three weeks until Thanksgiving. A lot of items didn't have prices on them or listed by them yet the staff was there to scan for prices. I was able to scan my 40% off coupon to use on a regular item. Lots of savings and sales on new Christmas items like stickers and cards. You can access coupons on the Michael's website to scan at checkout register. My favorite find was an all black journal book & pages as well as Christmas holographic silver frames on blank cards to decorate & personalize. They were 40% off on sale or with a coupon. I plan to stamp hieroglyphics in the cards. It was the first time I used a self service register at Michael's - very easy to use. I plan to visit again when prices are lowered more for clearance.

The Society was founded in March 1932 and is the oldest exclusively model railroad club in the United States. They maintain 2,500 square feet of model railroad displays of steam and diesel freight and passenger trains and trolleys, plus so much more. It was fun to see all the parts of the display - it really gives you a glimpse into the history of railroading. It is not easy to find, as the doorway is tucked into the left front center of the building and the society is located on the third floor with no elevator. The display is normally open on the second Sunday of each month, except May.

If I had no self control, I would have picked every single one of their pens, a Cinnamaroll claw clip, BTS pillow, and ALL the stickers.
