We stumbled upon this spot after searching for board game cafes in DC. I was originally bummed that it seemed like there were none to be found, however, this spot is like an unofficial free board game cafe! If they don't have any other event going on, you're able to play any of their demo board games for free. They have a lot of seating and tables in the back. My fiancé and I loved this board game store. They had a great selection of board games as well as a section for kids and puzzles. It was huge. There were plenty of people there able to answer any questions you may have about games. We got off at the Eastern Market metro. It was a quick walk from there. We had an incredible Sunday at this spot. They have a gender neutral single bathroom here. Games are reasonably priced. We played Carcassonne, a game we've been trying to play for year. I highly recommend visiting this amazing store.

The employees are clearly doing what they love, and this cool store has a huge selection of interesting gifts. You can try most of the games and toys out too! They offer after care for kids in the summer, and put in good effort to help everyone enjoy the time.

First time visitor. Online shows product and available. After entering the store the "Pokemon" showcase was empty. After asking if they had anymore available I was treated with unnecessary sarcasm. Being out of stock is fine especially considering how popular Pokemon is right now. The sarcasm was not needed and very unwelcoming. & asking the coworker to grab more from the back to stock singles definitely did not help.

    Friendly greeting.

Labrinth sponsored a wonderful game room at the Awsome Con's 10th Anniversary. So many games to choose from. Deadpool settled on Seven Dragons. He said he diffinately wanted to add it to his collection.

We were looking to add to our game collection and, on a whim, stopped in at Labyrinth Games & Puzzles. Wow. The collection of games and puzzles in their store was quite impressive! The staff is super friendly and helpful. We talked to a staff member who was highly knowledgeable and recommended a few games based on what we were looking for. We ended up buying both of his recommendations and have no regrets about our purchase.

    So many dice!

The selection was not too big, and primarily consisted of economics, government, or political science books. On top of this they seemed to be a bit on the dated side. The layout also made it a tad difficult to browse without feeling you're getting into somebodies personal business as the tables are right in the middle of the U of shelves, so if somebody is sitting at the tables you'll have to navigate quite close to them to see anything. They also have a passport photo section as they're right next to the passport office, which is convenient I guess. Prices seemed fair though and it was organized well. If I'm walking past I might swing on by, but given the plethora of fantastic used bookshops in dc i would rather go to, I don't see myself really going back very often

The cafw also has a few pastries and snacks They have tables and chairs outside on the brick sidewalk, which made for a relatively stress free experience. The folks who helped me with the photo was cordial, and there was literally no stress involved getting this part of the required photo done.

Could not ask for a better parking situation. Ordering was almost seamless. We got there at 1 o'clock, middle of the day on 4/18, plenty of empty tables. We went up to the bartender to take our order, and then gave them our table number and they delivered it. The QR code on the table only shows you the menu. It is not used for ordering, which was odd these days. Chill and super awesome bartender with the mother of all hickeys. Good pours. No Skrewball :-( I had the special, two hot dogs with tater tots. When it said double, I wasn't sure if that meant double the tater tots, but that meant actually two hot dogs. Really good. I also had the other special, the two pancakes. I meant to get the sausage, but they gave me the bacon instead. It was great. Well worth it. I thought that was the better value of the meals. They got a lot of board and card games. Very laid-back atmosphere, 90s and early 2000s pop on the music, comfortable seating, and good food. The prices were reasonable. This is one area that I think we are just going to have to deal with for quite some time. The give-and-take of prices,. Smothered tater tots, pancakes, two hotdogs with some tater tots, and three drinks came out to ~$55. NOT. BAD. Was it worth it? If this had been just a normal restaurant, I would've said no. It would've been more worth it if it had been about $40. But... nobody made us pay to use the board games, or the card games, and we sat there for three hours and had a really good time. So based on that, the fact they provide a venue for playing these games and hanging out for a few hours makes it all worth it. Really strange thing was that there was this balding guy with a beard that randomly showed up as a waiter. We had been dealing with a bartender, so this guy, kind of rude came on to us and we weren't sure what to do with him. He kind of blocked me from paying the bartender. Rude. Not a hangout spot every day, but certainly once a week, maybe once a month or more, definitely a place to meet up if you got a group. I was really surprised by the diversity of the people that were there. A lot of chess players, a whole table of middle-aged women, lots of different people playing games. I would give them five stars, but not quite perfect. The rude guy at the end was so odd. Otherwise, great location, great parking, the food was good, good value, and fun.

And I do appreciate that they have a fairly nice kids section. But their selection of books runs sparse and they have barely any other products. Despite a huge sign proclaiming they sell Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokemon, they did not have anything substantial to offer and from the look of their old product, they don't carry much at all. In terms of comics, it's not much at all. They have far more graphic novels. I'm not sure if this place wants to be a book store more than a comic book store. SERVICE: Okay. Nothing spectacular. I had lunch nearby and have been hearing about this place for a few months. I kept telling myself I wanted to drop by, and this was my opportunity! They've been around for just a few years. I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in. And I just started browsing the colorful shelves of board and card games. Near the register, big plushies (Kirby too) were on display. My cousin would've liked one, but maybe next time. I appreciated that the games were all in alphabetical order. A card game called Aquarius immediately caught my eye, and some random holiday mini puzzles that are perfect stocking stuffers. Never too early to shop! Past the shelves, I noticed a bunch of tables designed for playing board games, and I saw some shelves nearby loaded with games anyone who comes in can freely play (when the tables are open, of course). They were offering a LOT... more than I've seen anywhere else I think. I ended up chatting with Boyd about how cool the store is, and while I ended up asking what board games might be fit for the more casual game nights -- i.e. shorter ones that aren't too complex. He had tons of recommendations. Including the one I preordered and picked up a few days later, I added 4 new board games to my library, like Wavelength, Kites, and We're Doomed! So far I've only played Aquarius (which I LOVE), but I am super excited about opening the rest when the time comes.
