They've moved since then, but only about 200 feet down the road. Same small shopping area. It's much more open so I do miss the stacks on top of stacks of comic books. The one lone guy in front and I chatted for quite a while. Told me the history over the last 30 years since I've just not been in. Nice sized selection, including a lot more slabs than I've seen in most comic shops. Definitely a must-stop-by if you're in the area.

There's a bit more space on the main floor, though maybe it's my own imagination. There's nothing downstairs, it used to be for all the 50% off goods but it sounds like they're going to rent that out for players to run tabletop games and such. (There is a space in front facing the street displaying 50% off books, of course just those with the sticker.) The guy running the place seems nice, it's still bright and vibey, and it's worth going to. Oh, don't remember if it was there before but there's definitely an old-school arcade game in the corner to play. (X-Men? Wolverine? Avengers? I forget.) Wish I had more time to look around but I was on the clock, but I managed to get some things. This is more for newer comics and action figures, etc., which is fine. They have plenty of comic compilation softcovers as well. Admittedly I'm more a casual comic book person but I enjoyed going there and it's really close to Safeway, restaurants, and the like.

The music playlist had great vibes, and the woman behind the counter was very personable and friendly. I left the shop with a graphic novel, manga (recommended by staff), a tote bag, sticker, and a single issue comic. In many ways, it is not unlike a pleasantly surprising low-budget action movie discovered on blu ray. In 2021, for my wife and me, that title belonged to The Protege, starring Samuel L. Jackson as rescuer/father figure/mentor, Maggie Q as the daughter figure/apprentice, and Michael Keaton as the enigmatic but charming antagonist, all of whom are knee deep in the assassination business. Much like the undeniable chemistry between Jackson's Moody and Maggie Q's Anna, the relationships between the staff of Third Eye Comics, the customers (subscribers or not), and the cozy location show promise for the future.

I can see why the staff put up flyers stating to be mindful with how many books the customers get as they're priced pretty low, allowing you to collect a decent amount. Want three aisles of kids books like Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys? Go here. Need every book C.S. Lewis wrote? Stop by Second Story Books. After visiting nearby ZavaZone with our seven-year-old daughter, we stopped into Second Story for a few minutes, which easily turned into an hour. Every book is 50% off. We left with 15 books for just under $21. The books are well organized and maps help navigate visitors to each section, but know that the warehouse's narrow book aisles can get cramped. It adds to the appeal! There are even harder-to-find rooms with other items like posters for sale. They also sell CDs and DVDs. Staff are helpful. I lost my wallet and within an hour a staff member messaged me on Facebook letting me know they found it and it was safe at the checkout desk. If you have used books, Second Story Books buys them from people.

But go elsewhere if you want card games…read more Over the past 6 months, Victory is no longer selling at standard prices but are inflating their card prices by 20-25% despite getting their card supply directly from the manufacturer. For example, earlier today, I went in and was told a box of Avatar MTG cards was over $210 ($174 on Amazon) so I went to Pair o' Dice and bought it at $180. Victory is super convenient for me but I won't be back. I support my local gaming store but I won't support my local gaming scalper. For shame.

The shop was well organized and had so much more than just comics -- from building models to artwork by local artists. I traded about half my stack of cards and took back the other half to trade somewhere else upon trading somewhere else I was told the cards were in great shape and was offered around $200. Four different occasions I've gone in paid over market price walk away unhappy but because they have such a big selection it's one of the only places you can go...
