They've moved since then, but only about 200 feet down the road. Same small shopping area. It's much more open so I do miss the stacks on top of stacks of comic books. The one lone guy in front and I chatted for quite a while. Told me the history over the last 30 years since I've just not been in. Nice sized selection, including a lot more slabs than I've seen in most comic shops. Definitely a must-stop-by if you're in the area.

Maybe it was my teenage hormones raging or the beautiful purple Catwoman suit with whip, but I had fallen hook line and sinker for her very own comics. Especially since this purple cat suit had no tail. Now believe it or not, I did not get my hands on the first copy first. It wasn't until the third copy came out that I went to go buy it. Unfortunately, the fourth edition came out by that time and the comic store did not have the other three copies. When I came home from The Gow School during my Winter Break, I went to Big Planet Comics to aquire the missing three comics. Big Planet Comics not only had the three missing books, but also plastic protective cases for them. Up until that point, I never cared or understood why people freaked out about their comics being opened and read. I got it all the moment I was interested in collecting Catwoman comics. I ordered my comics from D.C Comics, but not all the comics books came to me at school in pristine order. Enter Big Planet Comics once again. The comics that were not satisfactory were put to the side and the magazines I wanted were given plastic protective cases. I kept this up until I got 100 something Catwoman Comics. I must admit I was falling out of my comic book faze. Nevertheless, Big Planet Comics help keep everyone of my comic books safe, until they were thrown out be a storage company...yeah! Even better is the sale that was going on for the whole month of July in celebration of their anniversary! Overall, the shop was clean, bright, easy to peruse, had a really great selection of new acquisitions and older staples. I really appreciated the extensive horror section. The music playlist had great vibes, and the woman behind the counter was very personable and friendly. I left the shop with a graphic novel, manga (recommended by staff), a tote bag, sticker, and a single issue comic. We left with 15 books for just under $21. The books are well organized and maps help navigate visitors to each section, but know that the warehouse's narrow book aisles can get cramped. It adds to the appeal! There are even harder-to-find rooms with other items like posters for sale. They also sell CDs and DVDs. Staff are helpful. I lost my wallet and within an hour a staff member messaged me on Facebook letting me know they found it and it was safe at the checkout desk. It's easy to visit a bookstore and find all the feature books to be by the same people: James Patterson, Colleen Hoover, and Taylor Jenkins Reid. That's great, but what about other authors and genres?? I saw not one of the previously mentioned books (and I loved it), but instead authors and titles I'd never heard of. I ended up purchasing two titles I knew nothing about. They say never judge books by the cover? Why not? If they're beautiful, then buy them. That's what I did, and I loved both books! The selection was incredible, and certain books had blurbs written by the staff to help with your decision-making. This store has so much to offer for a variety of audiences. Give it a try next time you're in Silver Spring.
