The store is so wonderful, located right across the way from Eastern Market on Capitol Hill. All of the staff is not just incredibly friendly, but quick to offer advice on games and puzzles to take home. There is a room where you can attempt puzzles and games. We spent several hours here just enjoying all of the entertainment. It's a great rainy or snowy day activity. The bookstore just next door is a perfect pairing.

However, I still love the characters and thought I'd pop in to see what's new since I stopped reading. I caught the owner at a moment when he had to care for a personal issue, as he was explaining to a customer that he had to step a way for a bit soon. I told him to feel free to kick me out and close the shop, I'm just there out of curiosity than a need to actually buy anything. I told him I'm a former collector. He insisted I stay and browse the comics and even take my time to read. I could mind the shop for him and just let anyone who comes in while he's away know that he will be back soon. I happily agreed and was a bit taken aback by his trust and kindness. He literally did leave me alone in his shop for a good 20 minutes. His is the sort of shop I preferred when I collected comics. The kind where the books are on the rack and you can flip through them a bit before you buy. This is in contrast to the stores that keep their comics bagged and you need to commit to buying before you know whether you will enjoy the storyline or the art. I don't live in the area, but if I did, I'd be a regular here. A small business definitely worth supporting.

We stopped by once to check it out and buy some Warhammer 40k supplies (books and paints) and were greeted by friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. If I had any feedback, I'd ask that they have more snacks to buy, especially coffee or energy drinks for game nights, and maybe adjusting the interior lighting. The bright white glare that they have in there currently does strain the eyes after a while, and there are some sections which are darkly lit, namely their 40k section. Their supplies were a little scant at the time (out of some primers and was hoping for more 40k minis) but I write this off to them having just opened and simply having a successful launch and a loyal customer base. Don't get me wrong - they have plenty of minis, but more singles would be great. I would also like to see them include nights for other MTG formats on the weekend, like Modern. Other than that, can't recommend them enough. I can definitely see myself becoming a regular here and I will 100% be back.

A card game called Aquarius immediately caught my eye, and some random holiday mini puzzles that are perfect stocking stuffers. Never too early to shop! Past the shelves, I noticed a bunch of tables designed for playing board games, and I saw some shelves nearby loaded with games anyone who comes in can freely play (when the tables are open, of course). They were offering a LOT... more than I've seen anywhere else I think. I ended up chatting with Boyd about how cool the store is, and while I ended up asking what board games might be fit for the more casual game nights -- i.e. shorter ones that aren't too complex. He had tons of recommendations. Including the one I preordered and picked up a few days later, I added 4 new board games to my library, like Wavelength, Kites, and We're Doomed! So far I've only played Aquarius (which I LOVE), but I am super excited about opening the rest when the time comes. They have trading card game (TCG) and board game nights... they'll give you a calendar to stay up to date! I have already recommended this place to a bunch of friends I know enjoy stuff like this. We had been dealing with a bartender, so this guy, kind of rude came on to us and we weren't sure what to do with him. He kind of blocked me from paying the bartender. Rude. Not a hangout spot every day, but certainly once a week, maybe once a month or more, definitely a place to meet up if you got a group. I was really surprised by the diversity of the people that were there. A lot of chess players, a whole table of middle-aged women, lots of different people playing games.
