I have been coming to this place for about 10 years, and have tried pretty much everything on their menu. This is hands down my favorite Thai restaurant in the SGV, possibly all of LA. If you are in the area, do not miss an opportunity to get something here, you will not be disappointed!
I'll highlight some of the my favorite parts of the menu:
1. Every Day Specials - These are the cheapest at around 6 bucks per dish, and include mostly fried rice dishes. This is a real working class option to fill you up quickly and cheaply. I prefer the Spicy Ground Chicken with Mint Leaf, its spicy and filling and will definitely make your ass pay later if your body doesn't handle spice well.
2. All Day Specials - These are a little bit more expensive at around 8 bucks per dish, but you get more variety. These specials are served with two scoops of rice and one big foil boat filled with the protein and veggies. I usually get the Cashew Chicken, it's swimming in this tasty sauce that you can pour over the rice and eat with a spoon. I also get the BBQ Pork, it is served with this salty chili oil sauce on the side, and the interaction of the sweet BBQ Pork and salty spicy sauce is heavenly.
3. Fried Rice - Its pretty hard to mess up fried rice, and they definitely don't mess it up here. Honestly, all of the fried rice options are good, so go with your gut on this one.
4. Noodles - Let's see, Pad Thai and Pad See Ew are pretty much what anyone cares about, right? Well, both are really really good, and really really "traditional." I put traditional in quotes because I don't know exactly how native these dishes are to Thailand, but they definitely hit all the marks of their respective archetypes. They don't try to modernize or change anything, they just serve you a pile of amazing noodles and let you do the rest. The Pad Thai is served with crushed peanuts, bean sprouts and a lime wedge, and the Pad See Ew is served as God intended. All of the noodles dishes are really well dressed too, so you won't run the risk of ever finding or biting into a plain noodle.
5. Main Entrees - I'm a huge curry fan, and this place has a good variety of different curries. I will say that the Panang Curry is a bit odd though. They literally put like an entire can of green peas in the curry. I'm allergic to peas so I stay clear these days, but I really have no idea why they do that. I usually get the Yellow Curry with Beef, but the Red and Green curries are just as on point as well. Don't forget to order a side of rice, and I would suggest asking for some extra sambal oelek to dip the potato and protein in!
6. Miscellaneous - My three other go-to's are the Chicken Eggrolls, Chicken Satay, and Thai Iced Tea. All spectacular, and classic, and made with love.
Honestly, the charm of this place is how true they remain to their craft. They don't try to reimagine anything or create fusion dishes here, they just serve classic Thai food. I've never had a bad experience here, and you can tell they run this restaurant with a lot of pride and love.
It's a small little to-go only place run by a family. I see them unload their groceries in the morning and pack everything up at night to head home. They are the sweetest, most humble people ever and they truly appreciate your patronage. Make a point to get here and support your local families and communities! read more
