I bought a 2015 VW GTI from them with 27,900 miles on the odometer, then needed a new clutch and flywheel replacement 2000 miles later, now with 30,000 miles on the odometer. BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS: Many of the reviews that are posted on this business are posted by the owner, management, and their friends. I attempted to purchase a vehicle from these guys. My credit was poor, at the time. That is why I chose these guys to buy from. I put over 50% of the car's value down in order to secure financing. Any credit can be bought with 60% down, $4K+ per month income, and 1+year job time. THEY TOWED THE CAR AWAY! First, they delivered the car to me as though the deal was done. I drove away. One week later, SPEED AUTO/Terry Hommel/Michael Aminov (owner) towed the car away from my employer's parking lot. No phone call! No just telling me that they failed to secure financing! THEY TOOK THE CAR. Of course, two days before THEY TOOK THE CAR, I replaced the clutch with an OE set. On a 2001 Corvette this is a $2,200.00 job, at any shop. $3,000.00 at the dealership. SPEED AUTO'S mechanic told AMINOV that the car didn't have a new clutch. This is the same mechanic who put out a car that had an empty clutch reservoir (leaking slave cylinder). The "mechanic" sucks, as well. Worst of all, They refunded me $3,000 of the $6,500 that I put down. Of course they're being sued. It's a no-brainer. THESE PEOPLE ARE THEIVES!!! read more

In brief, do not pay a deposit (even if said to be refundable) for anything if you do not definitely intend buying the car you are considering. I researched reports and reviews of Speed on several online sites and found that there were various complaints by others of Speed's unethical business behavior. Caveat emptor! Several months ago I noticed online a vehicle that I was interested in buying. I phoned Speed about the possibility of my visiting to see and test drive the car. Since I had to fly to Phoenix, the salesperson suggested that I place a $1,000 "refundable" deposit for them to "hold" the car till I could visit. I was told that Speed would return the deposit if I decided not to buy the car. Having no experience in buying a used car and in good faith, I naïvely paid the deposit by credit card. As arranged, I flew out, inspected, and test drove the car. I found my contact JC very pleasant, obliging, and cooperative (perhaps he should work elsewhere at a more ethical establishment). For various reasons mainly regarding its condition, I decided not to buy the car: the attitude of the staff involved noticeably changed. I was told that the deposit would be refunded to my credit card in a few days by Speed's "Accounting Department". I flew home expecting the refund as stated. In short, the expected refund did not materialize, and I ended up making numerous telephone calls over a period of several weeks. At the end of each call there was always an excuse for the delay in Speed making the refund. I reported my predicament to the credit card company which handled the situation such that, fortunately, I received my refund. Consequently, I cannot recommend Speed as a reliable dealer from which to buy a car. read more

The most dishonest people I have ever had the displeasure of working with. Please take the time to read this, it will save you time and frustration in the long run. SpeedAuto will lie to you literally about EVERYTHING. I actually feel bad for the salesman that they have also conditioned to lie. I feel like he is their "scapegoat" to do their dirty work and then they act like they know nothing. Do yourself a favor, and don't even look at a car here. There are plenty of other dealerships out there that won't lie to your face and try to hide mechanical issues. They tried to convince me that the warning light that was on was the low tire prssure light, and that it just needed air in the tires and would go off. WRONG! Within HOURS of me purchasing a $50,000 car, the suspension fault warning light came on. I was specifically told it had been fixed. I literally asked before we came in to purchase the car it if that had been taken care of. Mind you, this was 3 weeks ago from my initial visit, so it should have been fixed by then. A little trick they would do was start the car for us, clear the warning light, then let us get in the car. Every time you start the car, that light would come on and they had to manually clear it, so they knew damn well there was still an issue. I had a bad feeling about them since day one and should have trusted my instincts, luckily I had enough sense to purchase the warranty, which cost me about $4000. Turns out it needed a new rear suspension which would have ended up costing me close to $4000 to have it fixed at the dealership if I didnt have this warranty. SpeedAuto was mad and said they would have taken care of it, but at this point I was already lied to over and over again and was fed up. I knew at least the dealership would fix it and also give me a loaner vehicle. So within the first month, my car was in the shop for 3 weeks, no joke. I went back in to tell them, their response was that I should have let them fix it, and that I was "lucky" the warranty covered it since it was with 48 hours after I purchased the car from them. I am lucky?! Wow! Why would I use your mechanic to fix the problem that you "said" was supposedly fixed? Either you have a horrible mechanic or you lied(again). My guess is both. Then there was the issue with my car that I traded in. The payoff ended up being less than what SpeedAuto said it was. When I told them I wanted the difference which was several hundred dollars, they said that I would get that money from the lender, which I already knew was a lie because I spoke to them prior. They gave me the run around and after several visits from me and my husband to get what was rightfully ours, eventually I got that money back. Bottom line, purchasing a car should not be this stressful. The trips back and forth to have the car fixed and the frustration of dealing with these people is not worth it. If you find you have to buy one of their vehicles, at least make sure you get the warranty, and expect to have issues. Also, turn the car off, then back on again to see if there are any warning lights. They cannot be trusted and I am surprised they are still in business. read more

Be aware when purchasing a vehicle from Speed Auto!! I went to speed auto after searching the Internet for a Mercedes. I seen that speed auto had a few nice Mercedes that caught my eye and decided to go in to Speed Auto to see if they could get me in to the Mercedes I wanted. After speaking with one of their salesman it was determined that I would need a co signer, so I then left and came back a few days later with my cosigner and a down payment. After runing mine and cosigners credit the financing man approached us and said that everything looked good but I would need to leave a deposit and he would run our applications in the morning through more banks. After this i got a shady vibe so I decided not to leave a deposit and he said he would contact us the following day to let us know what banks got approvals and which didn't. Good thing I didn't leave the deposit because they never followed up with us like they said they would. read more

We recently bought a Mazda CX9 from Jesse. He was extremely helpful. We are from Tucson so he made sure to have everything done on the phone, so when we came in it would be quick and easy. The finance officer really worked hard to get us a good interest rate. There was a car fax report. The experience was very good. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 simply because they are packed to the brim, there is no customer parking and because they are so packed, the parking lot is not very handicapped accessible. During the purchase process, they had me sign something that said I was buying the car with the equipment it had on it, but when I picked it up, it had four mismatched, crappy tires. I found a very nice, slightly used, BMW 335is here for a price fairly below Kelly Blue Book's suggested retail value, and immediately called the Speed Auto Sales to set up a time to check it out. Andy was very accomodating in making the vehicle available for my inspection, so I was able to look it over only lunch break. The car looked brand new, aside from the typical wheel scuffs you'd find on a used car, and a nickel-sized dent in the driver's rear quarter panel. These were hardly deal breakers for me. Andy let me look the car over inside and out, and I fell in love with it! The car looked brand new (it was a 2011). Somebody detailed the hell out of that car before I found it, and it looked like all of their other vehicles had been given the same treatment. Very nice, and VERY clean, inside and out! It took a little bit of convincing to get permission to test drive the car, but it's understandable since this dealership handles mostly higher end and high performance vehicles (they had a V10 M5 for sale!!!). The car handled like a dream! The only thing I could find wrong with it was a portion of the air intake system about 6" long was missing when I popped the hood. Again, not a deal breaker as it was a use car, and I could get the part used on eBay for a decent price. Then we hit a speed bump when their mechanic test drove my trade-in vehicle that almost curbed the deal. Their mechanic said my 2006 BMW M5 had a transmission problem that was causing it to hesitate in 1st gear and then shift into second when in automatic mode. I explained to Andy that it was a perfectly normal function of BMW's SMG transmission. The D1 setting on the transmission is for parking and valet operation, not regular driving. He assured me that their mechanic was very familiar with the SMG transmission, told me that he'd have to take his mechanic's word over mine, and that we couldn't make a deal until the transmission issue was resolved. 5 days and a $90 diagnostic fee out of my pocket later, Andy was given the all clear from an independent BMW specialty shop in the area (my transmission was functioning perfectly fine), and we made a deal. No hard feelings at all because I understand that they have to do their due diligence. It's a business after all. My financing was already pre-approved with my credit union, so the guys at Speed Auto didn't have to do any legwork to find me financing. They were patient with me while I requested a few different purchase orders to see how much negative equity from my trade I could roll into the new vehicle, and they were more than willing to communicate directly with the credit union rep when I was unavailable because of my job. They worked with my credit union to perfect the lien on the purchase, so I was able to show up on my lunch break, sign a few papers quickly, and I've done nothing but smile since we traded keys. When I picked up the car, they'd ordered the missing piece on the intake and installed it for me at no extra cost! It's not a huge deal, but I wasn't expecting that kind of attention detail from a smaller, independent dealer, and I was pleasantly surprised! It was another nice detail that made me beyond happy with Andy, Tim, and Co. at Speed Auto Sales as I'd casually mentioned the missing part in passing and wasn't expecting anything to come of it. If the car you want is on their lot, don't hesitate to make a deal with them!!! I'll definitely be referring people to this location when they're in the market for something a bit higher end, nicer than normal, reliable, and reasonably priced. read more

My husband randomly decided he was going to buy me a car a couple weeks ago. He knows I've always wanted a convertible VW Beetle. My initial impression wasn't very good about the dealership because neither car sales agent seemed to know much about the vehicles that I was interested in and I felt a bit rushed about buying a vehicle since I had planned to sell my previous vehicle myself and hadn't done so. So on my first visit, I left without buying a vehicle. I returned a week or so later to buy the 2008 Acura MDX and I'm very glad I did, as I'm still enjoying the vehicle. Timing is everything!! When the manager came over, he informed us that we couldn't see the car because they "do business differently" and said since we weren't buying the car today that they weren't willing to get it out of their warehouse. Please ignore my initial positive review which I wrote the day after I purchased a vehicle from Speed Auto. I am now in a legal suit against Speed Auto for breach of contract under the implied warranty of unmerchantibility. The vehicle never worked and had to be towed 5 times in 6 weeks. The first break down occurred within the limited warranty period of 7 days or 500 miles. I contacted Speed Auto through the BBB, then the Attorney Generals office, then hired an attorney to write a demand letter, then filed a civil suit which they finally responded to. The state of AZ provides this statute to protect the consumer from being sold a product that does not work. The business is required to do rescision (money back or replace) or repair. Speed Auto did neither one and the law is on my side. Not all states provide this implied warranty for their citizens. Be aware of your rights and pursue them to stop used car dealers from screwing their customers. A business of integrity would offer some compensation when the vehicle they sold to you never worked. I just purchased a pre owned Porsche 911 from Speed Auto, sight unseen, basically over the phone and internet. I communicated with Jesse and Bret...the transaction was smooth...until the car arrived to my home via transport in California the next day.. The hood had been damaged and was touched up, never mentioned, and not visible as the car is black, from the pictures. Some of the mechanics were broken, dash warning lights on etc....and the owners manuals were NOT present as described by them when we were discussing the deal. I called and e-mailed immediately....I was put on hold until today, Monday and was told it would get worked out. So far I am getting the run around...Approx $1500 in estimates to fix the problems...and I hear nothing back from anyone at this dealership....I like the car, would like the issues resolved, and we move on...but I'm getting the typical used car dealer runaround...totally unprofessional, and a very very dishonest. I would love to take this down if the issues were fixed and my situation resolved....but I can't even get a call back, and when I did I was told by Jesse, "You signed the papers"!
