I have had Charter internet service for years but unfortunately both the quality of the internet connection and the quality of the customer service have steadily declined. Despite advertising and promising "up to" 100 Mbps speed, that only happens when nobody else in the neighborhood is on line. In the late afternoon and evening when people start watching streaming programming the speed decreases significantly, causing connections to slow dramatically as well as to drop out. Repeated calls to technical support, often end up with so called technical experts who barely speak English and can only read "troubleshooting" and "repair" solutions from a computerized list of things that I have to do to attempt to fix their equipment. It always starts with instructions to unplug the equipment which I always do before I call. That doesn't satisfy them, I have to unplug the equipment while they are on the phone. When the phone support fails to correct the problem then they send out a service tech who replaces the modem or the router but is quick to point out that they only provide "up to" service quality and at times, like almost every afternoon and evening drops significantly. At least they don't try to blow smoke up my - never mind. When I finally gave up and started looking for better service I discovered that AT&T offers their connection for less than half of the price of Charter and that price is guaranteed for a year. I noticed that Charter also offers a substantially lower rate for new customers, but that rate isn't available for a years long customer that has never made a late payment, despite having suffered with speed and outage problems during that time. I hope these people are keeping an eye out for a new job because with service like they are giving now it won't be long before Charter loses so many customers they start layoffs. read more

Charter is by far, the worst company I have ever run into with regard to customer service. I have been trying for almost 2 months to get my account straightened out. Every time I talk to them, the situation gets worse. We have outages for phone, tv and Internet. Their response was to turn off my tv box. That didn't fix the outage problem and it sure didn't fix things when the outage was over. I've made so many calls I've lost count. When I was concerned about the hockey package I bought, I was told I never had a hockey package. Oddly enough I'd been watching hockey on the package for months. I paid my normal monthly service amount as always online when I got my social security, August 21st. A week or so later I got a bill that was $15 more a month. I took my modem in on Sept 6th and cancelled service. I called this month to see about the refund for 12 days that I had prepaid but didn't use as I changed companies (Great Basin is better service for $25 less/month). I was told Charter no longer does refunds. WOW. Then, insult to injury, I got a bill today for $14.99 - apparently the balance of the new rate. Seriously! Charter owes me money!! So, they no long refund - well, I no longer overpay - Charter is still coming out ahead! How do they get away with this robbery on top of robbery?!? I just called and got Sabrina who was like a robot repeating "Charter charges monthly rates and there is nothing I or anyone here can do". She refused to put on a manager as I would have appreciated taking to a person who presumably would have been more reasonable and would possess common sense... I will not pay this outrageous bill for service I DID NOT HAVE. I'm not continuing service and refusing to pay the increase - I CANCELLED SERVICE mid way thru the month! As I came on to start posting reviews I saw that Charter has very poor reviews (less than 2 stars) so I get having to grab every penny they can but maybe they should make customer service a priority - maybe being fair and reasonable would be appreciated by customers and better ratings would result. I finally gave in and decided to get internet and cable in my home. I called spectrum based off a google search for my area and signed up. It hasn't even been 3 weeks and I get a cancellation notice saying I requested it. Come to find out Spectrum got in a pissing match with my apartment complex the village at wild-creek and cancelled my service. Best part, When they signed me up they knew they were not going to service my area but to rip me off they signed me up anyways under false pretenses. They are not holding up their end of the contract but if I was to be in breach of mine you know they would most certainly hold me to it. Things happen I get that but to sign someone up for service that you know you CAN NOT do and then try to bill them for service that you have cancelled and also not pay for the return of equipment when the changes were made on the companies part is an absolute load of crap and bad business practice. read more

The service they provide is fine, but I cannot get them to stop calling and offering upgrades and additional services no matter how many times I tell them I am not interested and to please take me off of their list. After 2.25 months of fighting with them my internet has been fixed. The issue was a programming error on their part. I have been credited for these issues I've had and now have a direct number to dispatch in case of any further issues. I still speedtest my internet daily to every other day to ensure I am not having issues. read more

Not exaggerating there is a problem with spectrum cable every single week. Sometimes just won't work at all. Sometimes certain channels won't work like ESPN. Other times you can't access anything you recorded. It offers a number to call and if you call it they say the wait will be 15 to 20 minutes. This is by far the worst cable provider I've ever experienced. Even dish is better. I will never have spectrum again even if that means I just live without cable. read more

I was trying to leave AT&T after 35 years because their products and service keep getting worse, and the prices continue to rise....so I got with spectrum and the guy signed me up for the triple play gold package, he said after they came and hooked me up my first bill would be 204.67 and after that my monthly bill would be 254.67. He assured me they would come to my home on Sunday June 2nd between 10 am and noon. Well the next day I received e-mail confirmation and it was for a service call on Wednesday June 5 between 1 and 2 pm and the prices were higher than was told. So I called and they refused to honor any of it because I could not tell them who I talked to...I should have said forget it but thought I would still give them a chance since the prices were still half of what I was paying AT&T for my phone, internet and television. So I took time off of work on Wednesday the 2nd, and no one came....I called and talked to about 12 people who all gave me a different story about why it could not be done. one story was because AT&T was holding my telephone number and would not release it, so I even spent time with AT&T on the phone. Needless to say they said it was all taken care of but they would not be able to come until Tuesday June 11th between 4 and 5 pm. Well today is June 11th and I finally called them at 5 pm and they assured me the tech was just running behind. Well Angel got here at about 5:30 PM. He started to convert my service then he said he had to run all new wires and tack them to the outside of my house and drill holes in my walls because it was wet under my house. I told him no we want all the wires where they are. So he said he could not do it and he would hook up my tv, internet and phone and go. Well he knew he cut the wires to my television and hightailed it out of here before we could check. So when my television was not working I called spectrum and asked if they could send him or another tech to fix it....they put a ticket in and said dispatch would be calling. When the guy called he was rude and said we don't fix direct tv equipment. I said it is not the equipment it is the wires he cut and unplugged. Well the rude guy said no. So I now am the proud owner of a tool, a whole spool of coaxial cable and some sunglasses that Angel left behind. and I have no television. Do not use Spectrum/Charter for any services. I am posting this review everywhere I can. They are rude, and do not want new customers. They do not even deserve the one star I gave them but I cant figure out how to give them a quarter of a star. read more

I recently decided to upgrade to cable in addition to my Wi-Fi through spectrum. what a mistake I was told I could do it all myself, I was told that everybody in the household will be able to get it through Wi-Fi that was a lie. I was told we will be able to run our personal equipment , tablets , cell phones , computers remotely and be able to get this that was a lie. I called today because when I got the equipment through the mail it was obvious that I had to hook it up to an outside line. that was not what I wanted. when I called the man who finally after almost 12 minutes answered the phone was a little on the rude side and acted like I was really stupid the only stupid person here was the one who sold me this equipment and told me lies , so tomorrow I will be returning this equipment and I'm seriously thinking about getting rid of my Wi-Fi through them because to be quite honest it's not working as well as when I first got it so if you do decide to get cableOr Wi-Fi through them take it with a grain of salt whatever they tell you it may be a lie read more

I wish I could rate with a minus number. When the service person came to install he was at my home in Sparks for four hours without succeeding in doing the installation. As he left, I asked him to just put back my AT&T so I could watch TV that night. It didn't work and when I called AT&T, their service man came out on a Sunday and discovered the Spectrum guy had cut 4 wires in the Nevada Bell box - wires that Spectrum had no business touching. Luckily AT&T Nick was able to pull the wire further out from the stucco side of house and repair it. In the process he discovered Spectrum had cut four wires total. Spectrum's response: said 1) they don't instruct their third party contractors to do that and 2) they denied my claim for damages because a "third party" makes that decision. Don't even call Spectrum for a consultation- you'll be at risk! read more

We had been with the same cable provider for nearly 15 yrs. We even transferred it with us when we moved from California back to Nevada. Almost everyone we know has Charter/Spectrum, advisind us you have many choices/packages to choose from with great rates. We well thought about it for a month and decided to switch. We picked a package the worked for all of us. We ordered 4 DVR's . Or service date was March 24th. 3 days after we switched ( We thought Wonderful). Daniel showed up with one DVR box and 3 HD boxes,we told him that was incorrect. He said well that's whats in the notes. I told my sister to call them immediately. He told us we can't call him while he was there or customer service will cancel the order. ( I thought that was crazy) He was here 1 1/2 hours. Most of channels were broken up pixels. He told us to give it a few days. Ok mind you we were with one cable company 15yrs, so we weren't sure of how companies now handled cable issues. So on Monday 3/27 we were irradiated called Spectrum again and complained about wrong boxes and crappy service. They sent put 3 (THREE) people out the same day. Gave us the correct boxes. Checked all the cable lines and left. Soooo here we are Cable is worse than before and now phone isn't working. Mind you every person that came out told us we need a bucket truck to come out to check all wires high up on poles. So of course when my sister had to repeatedly call she told everyone she spoke to, she was told by all cable installers to request bucket truck service, which she did. Ok so now we are on March 29th . Giy showed up with a very crappy attitude disrespectfully spoke to my 73 yr old mother. He proceeded to check all outlets inside and outside only to say well why haven't you ordered a bucket truck. Then my sister said this is the 4 time requesting one. You were supposed to be the Bucket truck. Another call to spectrum. This time requesting a supervisor. So a supervisor showed up along with first cable guy. And said Yes problem is at the pole and bucket truck is on it's way. Yesssss finally. They found the problem, putting on a temporary fix. And coming back today to repair correctly. So it is 12:30 pm on March 30th and noone has called to let us know anything and no one is here to fix the problem. To to top it all off. We got the bill in the mail yesterday for over $200.00 for service starting March 24th. Something needs to be credited to our account for everything we have been without and them bringing out wrong cable boxes. In all total 7 (YES SEVEN) service guys have been here in less then a week of service. My advice to anyone changing companies. Make sure they DO NOT send sub contractors, they get paid flat rates and do less than parr work read more

There needs to be a new rating system with negative stars. Charter-Spectrum Internet, phone and TV would get the negative 5 stars. They take your money and promise you fast Internet. That is as close as you ever get to receiving what you paid for. The service goes out every day several times and is spotty at best the rest of the time. When you call to request repair, you get a machine recording for the masses (Your call is very important to us, but no way will we give you Internet service.) Or they send someone to your house when the whole neighborhood is experiencing the outage and they charge you. I apologize for causing the whole neighborhood to lose Internet, but I don't know how I did it. Is it possible that Charter is bandwidth that they already sold to me? I don't know what I am talking about technically, but there is something horribly wrong with this company. Avoid it like the plague. read more

When it come to the delivery of TV services you have to make a choice. Do you want reliable and usable services that are twice the cost of "Spectrum TV" or the cheap unreliable and LIMITED services from Spectrum. Do not buy their BS that "Spectrum's fiber optic teck is far superior to Dish/Direct TV Satellite dishes. I have never had any issues with snow rain or wind and I live in NW Reno where 18 to 24 inches of snow a day happens annually. The problem is their "cable box" The box has never left the 70's and is not much more sophisticated than 2 tin cans connected by twine. I have been with Spectrum for less than 2 years and I have had them replace their cheap boxes and power packs more than 12 times AND they have never solved the problem. I have been connected with "tech support and dealt with so many very nice service persons that I know all of the :shortcuts necessary to keep my system going. They claim that they have a new box but we will not see it for over a year. My current box shorts out OVER 5 times a day but I have given up further calls because they replace it with another inferrier product. Here is another surprise. Their "sophisticated" DVR can only tape one program at a time if you want to view live programming. Also, for a majority of time you are denied access to your limited dvr and even your channel guide. This piss poor product IF FREE would be OK. To pay 50 to 85 dollars for this abuse is outrageous! Take Spectrum's fiber optic propaganda with a grain of salt. If you want reliable and consistent service you are going to have to pay for it AND go elsewhere! read more

I have had internet in my home with both At&t and Charter. I spend $49.99 right now with Charter when I could get At&t for $10.00 a month. I am disabled and on a fixed income and trying to start a business in Dayton. I signed up for a bundle in Dayton for internet, tv, and a phone line that was supposed to cost $118.43 per month for two years! One year has passed and I received a bill for $153.00. They said no, you are mistaken, you were good for only one year but at $153.00 you are still getting a great deal. I had to lose the phone and television in Dayton and now my bill out there is $69.99 for internet only. They did bump my speed from 60Mbps to 100Mbps in both locations which are great but why restrict the speed in the first place? Now it's time to figure out what speed At&t can give me at home for $10.00 a month because I qualify for their 4-year program (think it ends in 2018) to help seniors and the disabled be connected. read more
