I have been working on getting my passport renewed and I tried taking the photo myself but the US Government photo has to be exactly right or they'll never accept it. My husband goes to AAA to get our license plate tabs, they have a machine inside their office which is very convenient! He notice they do passport photos, he said you need to go over there so that's exactly what I did! Are you a member, no I'm not that will be $ 20 wow, really? OK, I need to get this done. The gal took my photo, then sent me to the front desk to get a print out and the instructions to download your photo, it wasn't working for me so I ask the women, if she could help me. I did pay $20 for service. She gave me the picture and I went to my car to start the renewal process on line. The photo would not save to my phone. I went back in and the girl who took the photo helped me put it in my photo gallery and also emailed the photo to me. Now back at the car, the photo is not accepted by government standards, back in to AAA I go! The gal said I'll take another picture, your hair needs to be behind your ears - ok. She helps me get my photo again, then I waited in the office to upload my photo again and it's not accepted. Now, the gal has disappeared and I talk to Steve this is the third person I have dealt with on my photo journey! He says, you have to download the photo, I said both of your staff members did that for me. Well you have a picture with words on it, I said this is what your staff gave me! So he takers my phone and somehow downloads the photo without words. I said how did you do that? He said "we provide you the access, you need to do it yourself", I said I paid you $20 I expected service to go with my picture! It's the worst set up ever! I would highly recommend rethinking your process especially if your own staff can't download the picture correctly! Glad I didn't buy the membership! read more

I popped in to renew my registration today. I noticed a podium with a young man that checked everyone in and directed everyone who entered their front door like traffic control. He helped me get set up and I was on my way. I used to renew when I smogged my car, but these days I can't justify the extra fees and still waiting a week to receive my tags in the mail. Today I paid a $4 processing fee which is still less than the fees I've paid paying with my smog. That was worth me leaving with my tags today. I was pleasantly surprised with all the other services offered here at this AAA branch. I love knowing/ having a venue to take care of my dmv needs without having to take the day off just to wait around all day at the dmv. Plenty of parking. Open M to F from 9am to 6pm, closed weekends. Service - Excellent customer service. They seemed understaffed...? The door greeter did EVERYTHING, she was amazing. I have been a AAA member for several years. I started going to this location a few years ago and have always been impressed. They acknowledge you as soon as you walk in the door. If they are busy, they put you in the que so you know when you will be called. Everyone at this office is very nice and professional. It is very clean, and the lines seem to go fairly quick. We have come here many times to use the DMV kiosk. It's so convenient for transactions that you cannot do on the DMV's website. This location also has a full service DMV component from the hours of 9 am to 4:30 pm on weekdays, and we recently had a five star experience re-registering a classic rod as a standard vehicle and getting new plates. Gerald the gatekeeper did an excellent job explaining to us when we arrived at 5 pm that the full service component ended at 4:30 pm, and that we should arrive 60-90 minutes before 4:30 pm to make sure we got in the queue. He was reassuring and respectful. The seating area for when you're waiting for the DMV x AAA employee to be ready for you is comfortable and stylish. They provide complementary water, too. Our agent was so helpful in getting us our new plates. It was our own fault that we waited until the last minute to do the yearly registration, and this AAA location and their staff helped us tremendously. DO NOT TRUST AAA! I am a 30+ year AAA member for roadside service as well as I have an active life insurance policy and have had numerous other insurance policies over the years. It's 01:15 in the morning, I'm driving a new car that I'm not familiar with and ran out of gas. Nearest gas station = 4 mile walk so 8 miles round trip about a 6 hour walk minimum for me, if I could even make it that far, especially carrying a couple gallons of gas. So I call (NOT) good old AAA road service for help. In nut shell, they tell me NOPE, there is nothing we can do for you because my membership has recently lapsed (very recent, like a few weeks). However if you PAY NOW maybe we can get someone to assist you. I ask for a supervisor, 10 minutes later I get the worst excuse of a manager on the phone, a horribly smug man so I proceed to explain my situation and go into a bit more detail for his understanding. I am a recent victim of an identity fraud case so my entire financial portfolio is locked down. For me to access any funds whatsoever I have to go into my bank, where they know me and still prove that it's me. Well Mr. smug nasty holds his tuff guy position and says too bad for you sir. My point in this is what an awful person they have working in a supervisory role, no compassion, understanding or consideration for the situation at all. Not to mention, I am a former employee of the auto club, there were many occasions and it was even standard practice to make exceptions for AAA members in extenuating circumstances. Not this guy. I will certainly be reevaluating my current and any future business relationships with AAA, because frankly they just don't care about their members anymore. Sad, very sad. read more

For generations, AAA was the gold standard for auto clubs. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. I have read reviews from Yelp and Google where customer service leave much to be desired. I have also experienced this as well. Last year, I had a car that had an oil leak. The repair advised that the car should be towed to the shop. I called AAA and they told me that a truck would arrive within an hour. I got a call an hour later and I was told that a truck would arrive in the morning. Unacceptable. This is what I am paying $120 for? Strike One. I told them to cancel the request and that I would dump a quart of oil into the crank case and I'll take the car to the shop myself. Last week, I stopped at the Sparks, NV location to use the DMV service and I was turned away because they were no taking in any more customers. The greeter was rude to boot. You never turn customers away. You accommodate them. No matter what. This was the final straw. No Strike Two and no Strike Three. This was the final straw. This failure is totally unacceptable. The customer is never wrong. I am not wasting $120 of my hard-earned money to keep a stupid piece of plastic in my wallet. I am not renewing my membership. Please don't waste your time or mine to ask if my concerns can be resolved . You failed miserably. Your customer service leaves much to be desired. I've been an AAA for years now. Everything is automated, you can't get your insurance card (auto) via the app and the automated phone calls disconnect. Unbelievable. I just renewed, but I'm getting new quotes for my autos, home, life, etc. They are too worried about selling more insurance and make it hard for members to do anything. read more

I needed to find out about getting an International Driving Permit and after researching online, decided to stop in and find out more. Location is convenient at the Legends Outlets. I was impressed with the layout walking in. You can get DMV services, passport pictures taken, help with travel planning and so much more. There was a podium when entering but no one was there. After waiting a few minutes, I went to the workers sitting in cubicles to ask for help. It looked like most were in the phone but the one that wasn't, politely asked if she could help me. She quickly went to the back to have someone come out. The worker was able to answer all my questions and was very helpful. There was an option for self-service which a few people were waiting to use. My guess is that it is for DMV services. For privacy reasons, I don't have any pictures with people in them. Overall, great to have AAA at this location. There is another location in south Reno. read more

AAA offers nationwide roadside assistance but they refuse to honor that commitment if it isn't in a big town or on a day and time that is convenient. My wife called to change a flat tire at first she was told that someone would be there shortly. Two hours later when she called back she was told that because she was in Fernley, Nevada (thirty miles from Sparks) that nobody wanted to come change the tire! Hmmm maybe try back Monday if she couldn't get it changed! And the dispatcher hoped they could stay safe! Oh by the way her 92 year old aunt was in the car with her. It was thirty degrees outside! My wife called several times to get clarification as to why this happened, but so far has only gotten the run around! Needless to say be aware of AAA Roadside Assistance. read more

I went here today, Friday, May 3, 2019. They had just opened this office this past Monday, April 29 after closing their Sparks Galleria office. I needed some paper maps for two area, since I had bad cell phone reception at both and couldn't start GPS or access 4G/3G serviced (even though I have Verizon and a modern iPhone): Palo Alto/Stanford near the Stanford Shopping Center and Sparks near The Outlets at Legends Marina. Given my bad treatment at their old office, I came in this time ready for war. I was not going to let them bully and harass me like last time. I looked around for that evil employee from their old location, but did not see her. Things were really different at this new location. I was greeted immediately by the employee stationed at the front, similar to what Spectrum, Comcast, Verizon, Apple, etc. do. He asked for my name and phone number and said I would receive a check-in text, which I did. He then directed to have a seat in the plush waiting area, where there was a large TV and coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Free wifi was also available. I sat down and also entered their drawing for a free trip to Hawaii. This location was much more spacious, with more natural lighting than their old office at the Galleria. There was also a DMV station with three employees and a DMV self-service kiosk. An employee soon came out to greet me. She said this location no longer has the map vending machines like their old location, but she would get them for me. I had a seat at her desk in the back. At the end, she asked for my card. This was the only thing that upset me slightly, as I had had my card out to give to the greeter, but he didn't want that, even when I wanted to show it to him. I would have just preferred to give it to him as I checked in and get that part out of the way, rather than dig through my wallet again. The employee sensed I was upset, but then she became too unctuous in trying to sooth me, giving me false compliments about my hair and offering to drop my card in the raffle box. Whatever. The other thing that irritated me is she asked a whole host of closing question, which I suppose she was trained to do, like if I needed to add anyone to my account (that would make more money for them). Kind of like an upsell. Oh, and I didn't like how an employee by the inside corner stared at me as I was walking up to the building, or how another one stared at me as I was sitting at another employee's desk to get maps. There are so many destinations and cruise lines, you could spend days, weeks and months sorting through all the specifics. Deb and I are both disabled, so airline reservations, hotel reservations, and cruise ship reservation's are a bit more difficult and tedious. That is where Jeff from AAA travel comes in. His experience navigating the different web sites, looking for the best prices and making sure we have handicap accessible rooms and help on and off the plane. He does all this with a huge smile. Usually I don't write reviews, but dealing with the Nevada AAA branch has been a nightmare. I am a 3 year AAA member. I spoke to several different representatives on the phone because I constantly got accidentally hung up on when they were transferring me, had to re-explain my issue 5+ times to different people, and no one gave me a consistent answer. In fact, my credit card was charged TWICE and they said they cannot give me a timeline of when I will receive a refund even though the accidental charge was on THEM. Usually I am a huge fan of AAA but they need to have better customer service. Still waiting to see when my refund from their mistake will process. Disappointed. read more

I will always bring my business back to AAA in Sparks. We have now been back to Dan Eggers every time due to his high level of professionalism and the ease of getting things done. Our home insurance, (3) previous renters insurance policies, and multiple vehicles have now been insured through Dan at AAA. Every time I've been in there, the prices are reasonable and the customer service levels are through the roof. I have stopped shopping for quotes completely and just assume AAA will take care of me as they have always done. I really hate dealing with most sales people who constantly try to push you to the next level, but Dan takes the time to make sure you have exactly what you need without trying to pressure you into spending your life's savings. My last visit was to insure a newly purchased truck. While I was there, Dan had mentioned to me that our loan company had not renewed our insurance or sent in payment. I had been on the phone with the loan company two weeks prior trying to get them to send a check (our loan had been bought out by a new company and something fell through the cracks). Dan said they would look into it and help us out. Even though they payment was going to be past due, he assured us that our insurance would not lapse if they sent the payment within 30 days. He took our information and said they would try to figure it out, and now our payment has been made. I'm not sure what magic they work over at that branch, but I spent hours trying to get this all figured out and was unsuccessful . I am amazed to see some of the poor reviews about this branch and Dan in particular. I have been dealing with only him for the past 6 years and have recommended him to family and friends. Not one of us have ever had the slightest issue, and most of the time I get compliments on the speed and level of service provided. Hopefully these (obviously false) reviews do not negatively effect the success of this awesome branch. read more

Dan E. is one of the WORST AAA reps there is. Very poor follow through. Did not make an auto insurance correction and had to be asked 3 times(necessitating 3 visits) before it happened. Always has an excuse as to why he doesn't process paperwork/changes in a timely manner. It got very frustrating getting the run around from him. AAA insurance is wonderful and is highly recommended, but Dan isn't. Use someone else or go to a different location. read more

I would like to know why this office was moved from the previous location. It was so easy to get in and out of and the parking was right in front of the building. Now you have to deal with the heavy traffic on Sparks Blvd not to mention the mall traffic, roundabouts that no one uses properly and horrible parking. I hope I never have to into this office during the holiday season it will be even worse. Guess the rate increase they passed on to us was to make the move to a less convenient location. Just had battery recharge. Service agent great and helpful and pleasant, but, NOT WEARING A MASK!! REALLY? Watch TV at all? Aware of covid-19, at all? I was wearing a mask. I was protecting the agent. She was not able to protect me, though, because "it is not company policy". ARE YOU SERIOUS??!! I'm a semi retired physician....a good quality mask or cloth mask, in addition to distancing, DOES WORK. Why did your service ask me all the covid-19 questions, in the initial phone contact, if you were not serious about it. Why no masks?? $$ ? I would suggest if an agent shows up for a service call and has no mask, decline it, if you can and call someone else; local garage, whatever. Apparently, AAA, in general, has no policy for masking. If it were not for a certain individual working in this agency, I would not have rated them so negatively. The agent that I had, unfortunately, did not seem to care for me as a valued customer and had extremely poor customer service skills as she lacked any knowledge of her position. I canceled my policy with them and moved onto a more friendlier company. They're only nice to you when you first walk-in. They answer all the questions that you have and as soon as you get your policy with them they act like they don't care. read more
