My receiver went out, and I called customer service. They shipped another one, but said it would arrive in 1-5 business days. It took only one. I was very happy. However, the remote that I have does not work with the new receiver. So, I have to manipulate the individual channels on the receiver itself (also, there is no on/off button on the receiver itself), which is particularly painful getting up and down, since my collar bone was broken during a bicycle accident. Movement, until I can have surgery, is problematic and painful. I explained this to the customer service rep, who wasn't particularly sympathetic. He said it would take another 1-5 business days, unless I wanted to pay an extra $20.00 for overnight. They seem to be more interested in furthering Starlink internet service and their satellite cellular phone service than in providing good customer service to their current customers. Need to check into other options. This is BS. In the interim, I'm in for a painful week until the other remote comes. read more

Dish Network is a complete waste of money! We have had it for 6 months and had to have service 3 times. No compensation when we didn't get local channels while the contract was being negotiated. You call to talk with someone and they couldn't care less , bad attitudes no concern for the customer. BEWARE and don't waste your time or money. I have spent all day waiting on a technician and when they didn't arrive during the time frame they said they would called customer service and they said they don't have to contact us. There automated phone is dumber than dumb! Their service in general is awful. If changing/upgrading service, be careful, what they promote on the phone will likely be different when you get service, then good luck trying to correct it. I've had Dish Network for years. I called to cancel last month because the bill just got really expensive for what I was getting. I had already paid for that month and customer service said they don't refund but immediately turned off service that's been paid for.I was told I needed to send back remotes and modems... they didn't want back the ugly satellite that's on my roof. I got another charge for the shipping and boxes they provided to send back equipment in. When I called and told them that they had a full months of service payments without the service and they are charging me for boxes that I sent back. I want them to come take down there satellite dish. she tells me the closest dealer is in another state and I would have to call them to get it removed. When was it deemed a requirement to release people from their contract by providing a Death Certificate? they are not the IRS or Social Security office. These people need to be put in their place. Nobody should be demanding proof of death before they release you from responsibility. My parents had Dish for 27 years and had several upgrades to their service over the years. At the time of his death they were in a contract and we asked to return the equipment. We've had Dish for so many years. We don't usually have problems except for the rising costs associated with this service. More recently we've had questions about our service which prompted a technician to come out at a tune of $50. So why am I paying $11.99 a month for Dish protect? It specifically says "Free Technician Visits" Get free in-home service visits (a $95 savings) whenever you need assistance. And on top of that, I called into Dish a half dozen times and got a different answer for the same question. Ugh!!! Why did I stick with this service. What could you improve? E V E R Y T H I N G! It appears I'm not very bright for putting up with Dish for over 15 years. At first everything (except price) was good. Then within the last year service has turned to less than crap. In the last month they have replaced all the equipment, which includes Hopper 3, wireless access point and two joeys. Total pain having them replace the hopper since transferring the things we'd recorded didn't go smoothly. Tonight I have been unable to watch anything I've recorded after finally getting the system up,and running. No live tv, no access to my recordings. When I tried to call, there is a 21 minute wait. Tonight has been the last straw. I am done. I cannot recommend Dish Network to anyone. Maybe they should rename themselves to Dish Nonwork.since that's the way it's working for me. read more

Like many others fed up with DIRECTV (20 year customer), and their price increases, I thought I`d give Dish a try. I had to call, because of one simple request, a Hopper3 with my 3 TV setup. Ordering online does not give you the option to upgrade. When I asked the agent about the upgrade, he assured me he was able to honor my request, mentioning how "ethical", and "forthcoming" the company was. Before my order was placed, I was asked to pay $203.60. Was told I had to pay a month up front, and some equipment fees. Why? Never had to pay anything up front with DirectTV, and I have a 685 credit score, surely high enough to avoid nonsense fees like this. I placed the order anyway, since the equipment fees were only $75. Approximately and hour later, I receive a confirmation email showing I was getting the Hopper2. I called, and after being transferred a few times, was told I was on their "pre pay" plan???? If I wanted to get the Hopper3 with my install (it was in their notes that I requested it upon ordering), I`d have to cough up another $181!!!! I asked for an immediate cancellation, and a refund of my $203.60. A week later, I have yet to receive my money back. Even after calling, and being assured it was processed. If you like to be lied to, and treated like dirt, then Dish is for you. I will be filing a charge back with my bank on Monday, and reporting my credit card lost in case they try to charge me for something else. I am staying with DirecTV, even with the price increase. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. My ex gave them my email for billing. I keep getting bills for an account that I have no idea what the account number is or the password is. I can not access the account without that info. DISH refuses to contact my ex or remove my email. I have given them his phone number; I could also provide his email, but they refuse to accept it. My ex refuses to contact DISH. A total Catch 22, and DISH refuses to help me at all. They keep demanding the password and account number, which I have absolutely no idea what they are. I have no idea how this will be resolved. I do not intend to pay. Perhaps eventually they will shut him off. But it's been almost year... Honestly quite scary that something like this could happen and they completely refuse to help. So if you get divorced, die, are injured, etc, and others don't have your pin and account number, I guess you will be billed in perpetuity, or your estate, or heirs, or ??? Unsure what is happening. Watching tv then suddenly it decides to say PressBack to return to program. When you do it goes back for 30 seconds to 5 minutes. Very frustrating. Crazy! Was told if we put our service on pause until our contract time was completed we could then cancel without the early termination penalty fee. I just learned that was not the case and the penalty fee is $100 not $60 as I was told. Not only was the service poor for viewing; the information we were given was inaccurate. Lovely ads on TV about the competitors "ugly bill", but they have the same legally deceptive practices. Hard sold a two year contract. After one year the rate went up 40%, now I have to move with 5 months left on the contract and they are charging a $100 early termination fee, and $30 to ship back their equipment. Dish has no customer service. I am new to dish and it has never worked consistently. I called the first time and they had me on the phone for an hour running up and down stairs, getting a ladder to look behind tvs mounted over a fireplace looking for wiring. It was ridiculous. I did everything they told me to do and it started working for an hour. I called a second time and they wanted me to do the same thing again. I said no, I need a technician. They said I didn't need one. So I went through it all again and it worked for a day. I called a third time and demanded a tech, they said I had to wait 3 days. They would not do a thing for me even though I'd been calling for days. So the tech comes and says everything is fixed and it goes out after an hour. Been a Dish customer for years. Good customer service, decent content- but the new hopper and remote are six steps backward. Get it together guys! Now I can't sort my recorded shows by episode??? Seriously? The rwd/fwd are virtually useless and everything else about the new system is counter-intuitive. The new remote is just like the remote that came with my first remote controlled TV back in '84. And you have to scroll through 6 different screens to get anywhere. Absolute disappointment. Bring back the old system or come up with something better, don't just introduce a new product for the sake of saying you have something new without testing it. Next football season I'm switching back to Direct TV if you don't get your hopper in order. $150/month and this is what I get? Pathetic!!!
