So glad to have found these guys on Yelp! They do live up to the great reviews they've gotten. Customer service is superb. They are honest and professional. My laptop overheated and bloated my battery. After going to a well known competitor, the competitor was making referrals out to other repair shops, even before examining what the problem could possibly be. I replaced the battery myself, but found that the laptop was still overheating. Brought the "old girl" over to Top Speed and found out the next day that the motherboard was fried. Boo Hoo, have to have a wake and bury the old girl. But before doing so, I will take her back someday when I get a replacement and have my hard drive copied over to a newer model. Where do I start?... Last night my desktop started to freeze, and this morning it was still stuck... So with my minimal knowledge, I start to google why my Lenovo tower was displaying the blinking light.. Many forums going on and mostly for laptops.. I actually started researching through my neighbors app, then cross referenced with Yelp.. So happy that I decided to call and felt comfortable enough to take it in. Received a call just after 12:30.. and the problem was the Windows update (which was a big one)...of course it didn't help when I turned it off to reboot when it was stuck... nor my other half telling me todo that too!! I spilled water all over my elderly laptop and it died. After a few days, I took it in to Top Speed to see whether they could revive it. I also brought in a new keyboard I had purchased but not yet installed, so in case they got the laptop to work they could go ahead and do that for me. The next day they called to let me know my laptop was working and ready to be picked up. When I arrived, they told me that the laptop had run just fine as soon as they plugged it in, so they didn't charge me for any repair work. I love that they were honest about it! They installed the new keyboard perfectly and my laptop (formerly full of crumbs and dust) looked as clean as new. Computer repair is one of those services you never want, and when you need it, you need it NOW! My wife's laptop suddenly would not start except for a terse message that said "Operating system cannot be found." I put out a request for estimates on Yelp, and within an hour got back a detailed explanation of what was probably wrong (including things to check before I brought it in), best and worst-case scenarios, and estimated costs. I took the laptop over shortly after they opened on Friday, reaffirmed the various cases, and got a call around noon that it was ready with a new hard drive and Windows installed. I got back the old hard drive packaged for shipment with two recommendations of places that would try to recover the data on it. Top Speed lived up to its name! I had been checking around trying to find a computer repair shop to help me rebuild/upgrade my 4 kids computers. I settled on Top Speed after some research/calling around and could not be happier. Their pricing is some of the most fair I have seen. They did not charge me for diagnostic work, and even stretched the term diagnostic (in my opinion) to save me more money. As in I said "I authorize this work" (with full expectation to pay) and they came back with an issue I was aware was a possibility of and didnt charge me for it/the work done to get to that point. As someone that had to budget for a while for these upgrades I was beyond happy for this. Turnaround time is incredible. Every time I go in I make sure I mention I wont even bother them for a week (unless i need to make a change/ask something unrelated to when the work will be completed). They always are done ahead of time. To the point I feel bad having my stuff sit there. But what really does it for me is that they are very friendly and personable. They never make me feel bad for asking even the dumbest questions. I cant recommend these guys enough. I have never been more confident in work done on my computers than I am when I leave their shop. read more

I will definitely be using Top Speed Computer Services again in the future. Now for my story... I wanted to upgrade my computer to 256 GB of memory which was twice what my CPU was rated for and twice what my motherboard was rated for. (I have an MSI X299 Tomahawk motherboard and i9-7940X CPU.) I had called MSI and they said this would definitely not work but MSI's support is just awful and they have misled me before. A key thing stopping me was that the CPU cooler was barely over some of the DIMMs so I would have to pull the CPU cooler to replace all of the DIMMs. I did speak to Corsair (who have excellent support), the makers of the memory, and they gave me information that showed the memory would likely work so I rolled the dice and bought the memory and installed one stick to see if I could get past 128 GB which was the hard limit I was worried about. This worked and I now had 144 GB of memory installed. Initially, Top Speed Computer Services called after working on my computer and said they got a BIOS error saying that the motherboard didn't support so much memory. But since I knew 144 GB worked, I said, well try one less DIMM, etc. to see what will work. They called me back an hour later and said they had gotten all the memory to work by adding one DIMM at a time. So I now have 256 GB of memory or a quarter of a terabyte of memory! (I also told Corsair about this 1 stick at a time trick.) The reason I am giving Top Speed Computer Services five stars is that: 1) They found that the computer shop that had assembled my machine had screwed up and had not installed the CPU cooler correctly. (And this computer shop had a very good reputation when I used them.) They found a way to make the CPU cooler clear the DIMMs with plenty of space so I can replace the DIMMs in the future without removing the CPU cooler. It turns out the CPU cooler had an option so it could make extra space for DIMMs that have LEDs on them as mine have. In addition, by making this fix, they were able to reposition the cooler so I got access to another PCIe slot in my machine which is helpful as I have now added a sound card to my machine which would give me zero slots available if they hadn't provided me with one more slot. (I have a lot of stuff installed in my machine including a graphics card that takes up 3 slots.) In fact, despite the fact that my CPU cooler is huge at 7.5 inches x 5.9 inches x 6.3 inches, I now have access to all my PCIe slots. 2) They only charged me for one hour of work even though my tricky situation required two hours of work. They are the second shop to charge less hours than were worked because shops often learn from the advanced things that I try, but I definitely appreciate this! Top Speed Computer Services also replaced my thermal paste which lowered the temperature of my CPU by about 10 C which was quite helpful. Thanks to the new thermal paste, I was able to overclock my machine a bit more so my machine now has more memory and is running faster! (In addition, the new memory was 3200 MHz compared to the old memory which was 3000 MHz.) For those who care, I got a bit more out of my CPU by setting CPU Core/Ring Voltage Mode to offset mode and then increasing the CPU Core Voltage Offset to 0.15 volts so my system would be stable at high speeds. read more

Recent power (and Wi-Fi) fluctuations caused my laptop to not boot up. Tried various remedies that were on hand but to no avail. Found this gem of a business and decided to take the computer in to see if it was a major or minor issue. Was greeted at the counter by Sean - the owner. I wish I could give Top Speed a 10 star review. Here is the story: I was working on my 13 month old Lenovo one day when it just - poof! - stopped working. I spent about 3 hours in call tree hell with Lenovo, who wouldn't cover the work under the 1 year warranty, and said it'd take about 20 days (including shipping both ways) to get my computer fixed. Lenovo did many different diagnostic tests with me on the phone and they had no clue what the problem was and how much it would cost to fix. I went to the Genius Bar, and those people were perplexed as well, telling me to mail my computer to Lenovo. As someone who runs her business through my computer, this news was devastating. I found Top Speed through Yelp, and emailed them out of pure desperation. They immediately wrote back and asked me to bring it in. At first, they recommended helping me get all the data off my computer before I mailed it to Lenovo, where the machine would likely get wiped clean. But the next day, I got a call from Top Speed saying they thought they could actually fix the computer with a new part, which they ordered with expedited delivery. I received daily phone calls with updates from Top Speed on the status of the part, and when it came in, they immediately got my computer back up and running. For a whopping cost of only $100. The fix itself took them less than an hour, and I only had to wait a few days for the shipping of the part they needed. That is so much better than 20+ days without my computer! I swear I wanted to kiss them I was so happy. I've learned my lesson. Next time I have a computer problem, I'm going straight to Top Speed, and skipping the call tree hell of either Lenovo or Microsoft! read more
