    Worst. Service. Ever!!!! I had been Using chat to discuss a number of issues that I was having with my Internet and streaming TV snd landline. The online chat was very helpful. They noticed that my modem and router were outdated and offered to ship me a new one I accepted. So then I went outside for a walk, and decided to just go to the store, which isn't very far from my apartment and pick up a new one, I asked the chat person to change my status from ship to pick up so I didn't have to wait for shipped ones to arrive. Chat people change the status from ship to pick up in local store. Since I hadn't planned on going to the store when I went outside, I didn't have my old ones with me and I figured since they would ship me a new modem and router without me returning my current ones that I would be able to pick up a new modem in route Without the old ones. Boy was wrong They said I needed to bring in the old ones before they could do anything. So while I was there I wanted to cancel my gold package because we basically stream everything these days and I don't really need Cable any longer. They said they couldn't do anything for 24 hours because they were morons. Sothen I told them that I wanted to cancel the landline that I actually didn't want in the first place, but was part of the package that I accepted the last time I was in the store. Even then I said I don't want this landline but she said I have to have it if you want this package deal so I accepted it. Morons in the store at the counter couldn't do anything to my account for 24 hours. So walked away from the counter and went and sat on a stool and called the telephone support line for Spectrum. I got a very helpful support person named Rubin (Reuben maybe) and he was able to make some changes to my account in his computer computer so that they could give me the modem and router since I was there . They wouldn't do it. They refused to do it because they were rude and awful didn't care about customers since they have a monopoly and we don't have any choice. So then I noticed that their name tags just had two letters and not their names. I'm sure this was because they didn't want to be reported by name. I asked for a manager to override some of the settings on my account. Of course, there was nobody there. I never do that. I never ask for the employees manager, but this guy was just being an ass. I now see why they're rating is so low. While I was standing there and the online customer support guy, Rubin was talking to the moron behind the counter I saw the laminated suggested pitch sales stuff. They seem to make it obtuse and complicated so that you don't know how and what you're getting. then the package deals expire and the rate goes way up even though you haven't done anything different. They're just awful. If there was a zero or negative rating, I would give it to them 30 minutes after I wrote the review I received this email saying I should come in to the store to pick up my equipment. No mention of returning the existing equipment.

    If there was a 'zero' rating, these con artists would get it. While renovating our house, we wanted a good phone service - Verizon wasn't servicing the copper land lines any more, and that copper land line was the ONLY thing that worked during Hurricane Sandy. So we called up Spectrum, and asked; "Do you service Copper Land Lines? we want to keep our land line." "YES! OF COURSE WE DO" long boring story short, they came, installed everything (confusing the contractors greatly, because they didn't touch the copper land line) and then a few months later, guess what? We discovered they didn't set up the copper land line at all, and gave us a home phone that is all internet. They lied. So now during a rain storm or outage, guess what goes down? Our "land line". Which, when it goes down, turns on our house alarm. I thought I was alone in this, but just visited a friend in Connecticut who had the EXACT SAME STORY. They will lie to you. Don't use them. At some point, some government agency will catch wind of this and investigate. I hope they go down in flames, the lying shysters!

    There are 30 names on this wait list and only TWO (yes, 2) employees working the counter. This is definitely one of the main reasons I stopped being a Spectrum customer and switched over to Fios-- their absolutely terrible customer service. How is it possible that in a store where there are 30 people waiting for service there are only 2 employees working the counter? I want to point out, there are 6 stations to take on customers.. I wonder where the other 4 employees were in such a busy time. I was here to only RETURN a router, since I was told I could not return it over mail (another terrible customer service tactic), and waited for more than an hour. DO NOT USE SEPCTRUM AS YOUR CABLE PROVIDER, there are definitely better options. If I could leave less than 1 star, I would.

    Horrible service recently. Outages all the time. Takes hours to get wifi back. Definitely switching companies

As usual at the end of the year there is a discussion about rates or changing carriers due to increases. It gets settled but seems to be needless aggravation every year. This time is different, After agreeing to a price for 2026 at the end of 2025, the company basically reneges and raises the rate in March. When I called, i was informed one of the line items had changed. If I wanted to have the lower rate, all I needed to do was downgrade my service. The suggestion to me was insulting.

After the first guy ran through all his deals and I rejected them he transfers me to whoever gets you the pins we suddenly lose cell service. those pos's cancelled our service before i even got the pins, Vindictive $hit! Then I call back on a landline (because they shut off our service) the one i spoke to assured me that our service was still active (yeah right, so why did our phones magically start saying not register on a network and emergency calls only). Then won't transfer me to get the pins until I give her a reason that we are transferring our service. By this time I'm getting super angry, I ask for a supervisor after two minutes she comes back and says two more minutes. After two more minute gets back on and tells me there is none available, I hang up, she calls back says one will get back to me with 24 hours. i hang up again she calls back and asks if I still want to escalate it. I said no, I just want my pin. She then tells me that I have to give her a reason or she can't transfer me. So we went round and round about that, Finally I said because your customer service sucks. She wants to know why. WHY!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Then she won't transfer me without telling her the deal I'm getting. I told her that's really none of your business. Still won't transfer me. So I lied to her because as I said, none of your business. So I finally get to the magic man with the sought after pin numbers. He said the same, I have to give him a reason. I said, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Don't you people share information I've told no less than four people already. So he goes into salesman mode tries throwing all these deals at me. I told him after what I've been through with you people today you could make it free for life and I still wouldn't take it. Tries again, I said did you think I was kidding?. Says I have one last deals, you can say no and then I'll get you the pin. Told him I'll save us some time and say no now. And everyone I spoke with had an accent you could cut with a knife. Not being racist either, my wife is from the Philippines and has a heavy accent, tells me they out source their call centers.

The low level customer service and the way the company bilks customers is astounding. They claim to be giving you a five (5) year price lock. In my case, two months later they change the name of your promotion to Promotion for Life. They say that this means that only the taxes can go up if they do, but not the price for the service in my case, $40.00 with $5.66 in taxes for a total of $45.66. Do not be fooled. All their promotions, regardless of names, can be renamed and repriced at any time. They actively promote Autobilling, which means they take the money directly out of your bank account each month. It is not worth getting a $5 reduction to have these crooks get access to your bank account. Once you provide them with your bank account number, they can help themselves to any amount. Prices with Astound change at the drop of a hat. They do this by claiming that your plan's name was changed. What this means is that they hiked the price. Am actively going to see if I can find a better deal elsewhere. These people are nasty and only interested in bilking customers. These are seasoned scam artists.

I went in store and the employee there told me that I couldn't receive internet service without signing up for a phone plan. So for about a year and a half I've been forced into paying for a phone plan that's literally never been used. Despite calling and asking multiple times. Throughout my service, I've dealt with random outages and loss of service. Coupled with constantly having to call them to pay and being unable to create an account through their website for whatever reason. I'm finally able to switch internet providers and when I called to cancel my service, I was on the phone for an hour. During that hour, I was transferred to at least 4 separate employees who all made me verify my identity with my address, email, phone number, credit card number and a code texted to me. The last one insisted that I was not the account holder because he couldn't tell my gender via my voice and that an employee I spoke to prior made a note that I was a man. Despite this horrible customer service and the fact that I had been on the phone for an hour to cancel my service, he kept trying to convince me to keep my service for 5 months free as a "backup." In what world would I need a backup phone plan? Especially when I've had the phone line through Optimum for over a year and never once used it. Then he informed me I'm going to have to pay until I drop off my equipment in store. He could've offered a lifetime of free service and I still would've cancelled because under no circumstances would I pay a service that demands I tell them what is in my pants when I've verified my identity to 4 separate employees. I'd much rather pay 10 times the amount monthly in order to never deal with this company again. It's to the point where from now on, part of my prerequisites for moving is that the new place must be serviced by any other company than optimum. I'd honestly consider living without internet in my home before I ever come back to them for service. This is the only review I've ever left on yelp and that should only emphasize how horrific this company is.
