We have had Optimum for several years. There have been issues with the service but they are eventually worked out. It is the billing side that you need to be careful about. As usual at the end of the year there is a discussion about rates or changing carriers due to increases. It gets settled but seems to be needless aggravation every year. This time is different, After agreeing to a price for 2026 at the end of 2025, the company basically reneges and raises the rate in March. When I called, i was informed one of the line items had changed. If I wanted to have the lower rate, all I needed to do was downgrade my service. The suggestion to me was insulting. read more

What a horrible experience with optimum. Called to get transfer pins to switch our service. I was on the phone for more than tso hours trying to get the pins. After the first guy ran through all his deals and I rejected them he transfers me to whoever gets you the pins we suddenly lose cell service. those pos's cancelled our service before i even got the pins, Vindictive $hit! Then I call back on a landline (because they shut off our service) the one i spoke to assured me that our service was still active (yeah right, so why did our phones magically start saying not register on a network and emergency calls only). Then won't transfer me to get the pins until I give her a reason that we are transferring our service. By this time I'm getting super angry, I ask for a supervisor after two minutes she comes back and says two more minutes. After two more minute gets back on and tells me there is none available, I hang up, she calls back says one will get back to me with 24 hours. i hang up again she calls back and asks if I still want to escalate it. I said no, I just want my pin. She then tells me that I have to give her a reason or she can't transfer me. So we went round and round about that, Finally I said because your customer service sucks. She wants to know why. WHY!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Then she won't transfer me without telling her the deal I'm getting. I told her that's really none of your business. Still won't transfer me. So I lied to her because as I said, none of your business. So I finally get to the magic man with the sought after pin numbers. He said the same, I have to give him a reason. I said, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Don't you people share information I've told no less than four people already. So he goes into salesman mode tries throwing all these deals at me. I told him after what I've been through with you people today you could make it free for life and I still wouldn't take it. Tries again, I said did you think I was kidding?. Says I have one last deals, you can say no and then I'll get you the pin. Told him I'll save us some time and say no now. And everyone I spoke with had an accent you could cut with a knife. Returned a cable box and never received credit for it. When. We realized some time latrt that we're paying for an extra cable box, we got the run around. Finally received a 28 dollar credit! Are you kidding me??? Check your bill each month for accuracy then be prepared to wait on hold for 2 hours to speak to a representative. Optimum customer service is absolutely unacceptable. My grandmother passed away at the end of January, and we properly disconnected her service in early February. We returned all equipment and even provided a death certificate, yet this company continues to bill her account. They have charged for services that were not used--and could not have been used--and are still billing as of March. It is incredibly frustrating and disrespectful to deal with this while grieving the loss of a loved one. We followed all the required steps, but Optimum has failed to properly close the account or stop the charges. No family should have to go through this during such a difficult time. Horrible customer service, tv, internet and phone service with constant outages. They will not let you cancel optimum services without harassing a customer. The optimum store in West Hempstead, NY refused to take back optimum equipment without talking to customer service first, on a private phone line. The stores and optimum online chat will tell customers that you must talk to Customer service on a phone to disconnect from optimum. Customer service phone representatives will use delay tactics, asking repetitive questions even promising to upgrade to better services for less money to try to keep you as a customer. In the past year I called to complain about cost increases, losing channels and service outages several times. There was no offer or concern shown by Optimum until I attempted to cancel services. They will keep you on the phone for hours on hold. Requesting a supervisor will only delay the phone call further. Optimum will not allow an "online chat" on the optimum website to disconnect service but you can add services in a chat! In the past year my bill went up $60.00 while many tv channels were eliminated. I spoke with Lisa, Supervisor Tom and chatted with Dianzo for hours. They were dismissive and constantly asked personal questions. They refused to accept my request to cancel services and just delayed the process. My area doesn't have fiber so there were outages at least 2-3 times a month. ATT has fiber so I went to Optimum website to cancel. No, you have to call to cancel. Worst experience ever. They kept me on the phone 34 minutes!!!! They have a script they need to go through. She kept saying "I understand" and then continues on her script. Everything she said showed she didn't understand that I simply wanted to cancel. After 31 minutes she said she has to transfer me to an account manger who offered lower price. When I interrupted to ask, " Did the last person cancel my account? She said, "Don't rush me". Unbelievable. Finally after 34 minutes I got off with assurance that they would process cancellation. I had a very frustrating experience with Optimum. They ported my number, and it has been almost 15 hours, but it is still not activated. I spent around 7 hours on calls with their customer support, and all they keep saying is that they cannot help in this situation. On top of that, I ordered an iPhone 17 Pro through my Optimum account, but after two days, they are now saying they cannot even see the order in their system. This is extremely concerning and unprofessional. Overall, this has been a very stressful experience. I would not recommend Optimum to anyone. I have had spotty service for 3 years now. I was asked to increase my internet speed & swap out my modem & extender (each causing an increase in monthly payments, but no change to my service). The customer service agents are not helpful. They do the same things to try to reset & analyze the issue & they have told me that they set an appointment with a technician, only to wait for the technician & find out there was no appointment in the system. Bad experience. No payback for service downtime. Always service interruptions and they charge you as if you had continued service. Get Starlink for internet. It beats them all. A week later I called again and was on the phone for an hour, asked the same questions, given the same upsell, when I finally got the guy to cancel, he transfers me for "verification of cancellation." Total lie. The next rep I was transferred did the exact same thing, same questions, same upsell for another 30 minutes.. FINALLY after more than an hour of calls, I returned the equipment.. Optimum has frequent outages, overcharges for basic services, and canceling is a nightmare. There's no way to cancel online. Instead, they force you to call customer service to cancel, and then they will drag the call out for 30+ minutes in the hope that the call disconnects or you give up and stay a subscriber. This is borderline fraud, but since the current federal government has gutted the Better Business Bureau, there is very little chance of Optimum facing any consequences. read more

My mother, now an 80yr women has been an optimum customer since the 1980s. Optimum use to offer packages to keep the bill manageable but no more. Her bill has gone up by about $80.00 in 3 years with no increase or improvement in service. After it went up another $10.00 this month I called and spoke to a representative named Darryl to see what can be done. They said their best offer is a $15.00 a month discount; since the bill just went up by $10 is really only a $5.00 reduction. She doesn't work from home, she doesn't stream or game; she just watches TV making her usage far less than the average customer. She is 80yrs old on fixed income and wants to watch cooking shows, crime stories and during baseball season; the Yankees. Sadly, again because of her age I cannot switch providers, it just too. difficult for her to learn at this age. I will refrain from using the language that would accurately describe how disgusting it is that Optimum refuses to offer assistance who has been a customer for over 40yrs and now just needs little help at her advanced age. We have had Cablevision for 25 years. Our service was updated and has not worked properly since then. At this point it will disconnect coverage temporarily (at least). Cablevision reps have been contacted. And every employee lies. Five times we were told by their "outside the US" employees that the technician was on his way, that they didn't have the equipment or we weren't home. All lies. This is the 1st time I ever complain about a company in 55 years. I really need to pull the plug Hands down the WORST customer service. Customer for 20 years. Went to Lindenhursr store No Samsung box's. Drove to Hauppauge and they have 70 + Samsung box's but NO CORDS. I asked if the had any returned equipment and to take it off one of them. What an idea made his head spin. Got home and ERR on display, as he never put Ser# in system. Called service, 35 mins just to get someone. After 45 mins of bullshit she tells me she can't activate because bill was 1 day late. My mistake but paid online as instructed. Because it was late at night I was then told after paying it still can't be turned on because she wouldn't see it on her screen till next day. Asking me to cancel the payment and now pay over phone. My biggest issue wasn't the TV not getting turned on it was having to call the next day to sit on hold for 30 mins. There solution to that was they will call me. No time just between 9am and 9 pm. So the option was I guess hold for 30 mins or wait by the phone for 12 hours and take off of work. If they spent 1/2 the time doing customer service as they do trying to sell you more shit they could figure this out. They can't get TV right but they want me to switch over my cell service. I've tried to cancel Optimum so many times. I originally was paying 85$ each month for WiFi. They raised that to 100$ and now raised it again to 110$. I've called about 5 times to try and cancel because I cannot afford this up charge. Each time I try and cancel they coerce me into taking deals and offers. I've called on many different days of the month to cancel and each time they still end up charging me! It's so hard to cancel WiFi without getting charged. Worst customer service ever! We are not able to cancel after 9 lengthy phone calls and being transferred to everyone. They left us on hold over and over again and they are still trying to trap us into staying. They will not complete my request to cancel even after asking multiple Times for a supervisor. They have also been deceptive in the incentives they gave us not to cancel and we have been over charged and they will not issue a refund. A supervisor was supposed to call us back but never did. They showed us that we weren't getting the 1 gig service we were paying for because our router could only handle 500gh.
