heLLO, I'VE been a customer with optimum for 10 years, i work and i nevr home 5 days a week, i use it mostly after 6pm. all of a sudden they sent a bill for july services for $95.00. for 2 years i've had a bill for $76.00 which is also high but still bearable... i guess is time to switch the providers read more

This company is a sick, pathetic joke. The service is horrific. It will be out every couple of weeks and you will have some imbecile come and try to fix it. The service is almost as terrible as the overpriced joke of a company.. I would go with Verizon, but they are not in my area instead of optimum get an antenna with some tinfoil you will be in better shape read more

Worst customer service transfers u all over says lowering bill in retention billing knows nothing about. Put me on autopay paperless without asking! Trying to switch out read more

Optimum customer service is an absolute nightmare when it comes to closing your account ! They spend more time keeping you on the phone trying to talk you into keeping the service and offering you whatever they can come up with to keep you from leaving Optimum. I was just on the phone with them for almost 40 minutes trying to convince them that I'm done with their service and I don't want their service and I had to at one point Raise my voice at them to get their attention that I don't want to keep their service after they clearly understood that I wanted to disconnect and close my account ! They will not take no for an answer no matter how many times you tell them I want to close my account! I will never use Optimum again as long as I live ! What an absolute joke these people are ! read more

Worst, High rates.Low customer service. Bad bad company . You call and you speak to people you cant understand . They give you a good deal and take it away and you need to call and they are the worst. read more

Customer service is a joke. I asked if there was any promotions available to lower my bill. I got moved around 3 times, then put on hold for 30 minutes and then was hung up on. It's such a waste of people's time. I'm moving to another carrier. read more

Worst cable service in the entire world. I'm so tired of calling optimum to have my cable fixed. They literally are the worst. I loose connection continuously. I hate Optimum!!! read more

The slogan for this company should be "Give the shaft to your loyal customers". My Optimum bill kept getting larger and larger as the years went on and was due to go up another $35.00 a month because of "promotion ending". I had TV, Internet and Phone. This morning I spent over 30 minutes on the phone trying to cancel my service. It started with the service rep I spoke to, offering to lower my price $50.00 a month, to the cancellation rep who threw in another $20.00 reduction. Why not offer the preferred price to longtime customers instead of slowly bleeding them until they can't take anymore? I could barely understand the cancellation rep, I asked her to please speak slower and louder, she ignored my request. She then proceeded to give me a sales pitch, I replied I was not interested, please just cancel the service, I was ignored again as she went on and on. I asked her why I was required to pay for 10 days of their service that I will not receive (roughly $70.00), she replied it was policy. All this stress for a service that was so-so at best. To sum it up, Optimum doesn't give a s*** about their customers and won't until there are more cable providers available to up the competition. read more

Billion dollar company couldn't shut my internet off when I asked then received another bill after I thought canceled 2 days into the bill, called again then went to store tried to cancel AGAIN ... then they couldn't cancel me cause they couldn't find the pass code was sent back to the store AGAIN to get a pass code to call yet AGAIN (waiting on hold for at least 45 minutes each time) ... then when it was finally canceled they said I was 7 days into the new month and I had to pay the bill anyway. Just an absolute joke of a company from a loyal customer that was taken advantage of for years as my bill more than doubled in 5 years since joining and only wanted to lower it after I found a better and cheaper option. Never thought I would write one of these but this is pure theft and it sickens me. read more

Stay away from Optimum. After 10+ years as a customer, their service became completely unstable. I called three times -- nothing fixed. Went to the store -- still nothing. Finally switched to Verizon. Then the real nightmare began: months trying to cancel, store refused to take the equipment, I spent 35+ minutes on hold while standing in their store, called twice, talked to multiple reps, and still got told my account was "locked." Paid parking twice just to return a modem! They don't care about customers -- only money. Horrible experience from start to finish. read more

The Internet the Wi-Fi connection is horrible for a year a little over since 2024 changing modem changing cable boxes now they place these streaming devices into your home and charging $14.99 a box this company needs to be dismantle when you call the BBB it's not the BBB it's a special unit within optimum pretending to be BBB and this has to be a crime or fraud they raise prices service is not good and no senior citizens discount besides that the technician are uneducated don't know how to hook up equipment and they make your cable service worse read more

I have had optimum for over 12 years. about 2 years ago I even got optimum mobile and no complaints so far. so I been dealing with an billing issue for over a year- they have been charging me $20 for apply 4K.. Don't let the deals fool you. The Extra money you save isnt worth the stress. I signed up for the highest internet because it was supposed to be the most reliable. That wasn't the case. When It rains, service is sketchy.. when it rains a lot , we lose service for hours . But the real nail in the coffin was when optimum disconnected my service without notice. They said to turn it back on they have to reach out to a team and they will reach back in 5-7 business days. After further investigation, I learned that someone in my area was installing optimum and they put the wrong address... which automatically cancelled my service lol. i Spoke To a supervisor who was just as useless as the people under him. read more

My wife and I had optimum for over 10 years we enjoyed it for our internet sometimes it would have some difficulty but overall it was ok . Recently I switched from Verizon to tmoble and tmoble has a plan for internet a lot cheaper than optimum! The optimum plan was in my wife s name. Now we have tmobles internet since Aug. My wife paid a full bill in August and dropped off the internet boxes back to optimum. Now optimum has sent a September bill and to top it has refused to closed the account? The representative stated my wife will have to call in October? To try again to close a already closed account? The representative tried to send the boxes back to us ? And say you won't have to pay for them? Something is not right! read more

Optimum customer service is absolutely unacceptable. My grandmother passed away at the end of January, and we properly disconnected her service in early February. We returned all equipment and even provided a death certificate, yet this company continues to bill her account. They have charged for services that were not used--and could not have been used--and are still billing as of March. It is incredibly frustrating and disrespectful to deal with this while grieving the loss of a loved one. We followed all the required steps, but Optimum has failed to properly close the account or stop the charges. No family should have to go through this during such a difficult time. I strongly do NOT recommend this company based on their lack of accountability, poor customer service, and billing practices. read more

Pulled the plug 6/30, Verizon Fios installed, called several times to cancel, when we refused we were disconnected, called before returning boxes 7/3 to see if we needed a confirmation no. We were told no. Walked into Parlin store they refused to take boxes staring we needed to speak to retention employee over the phone first , we refused and were forced to call upon being disconnected until an hour later store personnel finally took our boxes and gave a 0 balance receipt. Now we are being billed for services we DID NOT receive for July 1-15. They are still fighting for us to pay this bill. After being a customer of this company for over 35 years, this is how they treat their customers? Worst company ever, never again. Steer clear of CABLEVISION IN NJ! We are still in the process of fighting this bill, anyone else have this problem? read more

We have had Optimum for several years. There have been issues with the service but they are eventually worked out. It is the billing side that you need to be careful about. As usual at the end of the year there is a discussion about rates or changing carriers due to increases. It gets settled but seems to be needless aggravation every year. This time is different, After agreeing to a price for 2026 at the end of 2025, the company basically reneges and raises the rate in March. When I called, i was informed one of the line items had changed. If I wanted to have the lower rate, all I needed to do was downgrade my service. The suggestion to me was insulting. read more

What a horrible experience with optimum. Called to get transfer pins to switch our service. I was on the phone for more than tso hours trying to get the pins. After the first guy ran through all his deals and I rejected them he transfers me to whoever gets you the pins we suddenly lose cell service. those pos's cancelled our service before i even got the pins, Vindictive $hit! Then I call back on a landline (because they shut off our service) the one i spoke to assured me that our service was still active (yeah right, so why did our phones magically start saying not register on a network and emergency calls only). Then won't transfer me to get the pins until I give her a reason that we are transferring our service. By this time I'm getting super angry, I ask for a supervisor after two minutes she comes back and says two more minutes. After two more minute gets back on and tells me there is none available, I hang up, she calls back says one will get back to me with 24 hours. i hang up again she calls back and asks if I still want to escalate it. I said no, I just want my pin. She then tells me that I have to give her a reason or she can't transfer me. So we went round and round about that, Finally I said because your customer service sucks. She wants to know why. WHY!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Then she won't transfer me without telling her the deal I'm getting. I told her that's really none of your business. Still won't transfer me. So I lied to her because as I said, none of your business. So I finally get to the magic man with the sought after pin numbers. He said the same, I have to give him a reason. I said, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Don't you people share information I've told no less than four people already. So he goes into salesman mode tries throwing all these deals at me. I told him after what I've been through with you people today you could make it free for life and I still wouldn't take it. Tries again, I said did you think I was kidding?. Says I have one last deals, you can say no and then I'll get you the pin. Told him I'll save us some time and say no now. And everyone I spoke with had an accent you could cut with a knife. Not being racist either, my wife is from the Philippines and has a heavy accent, tells me they out source their call centers. read more

Would give negative stars if possible. Worst internet provider in the area. Go to "https://mapmybroadband.dps.ny.gov/" to find an alternative if you can. Optimum has frequent outages, overcharges for basic services, and canceling is a nightmare. There's no way to cancel online. Instead, they force you to call customer service to cancel, and then they will drag the call out for 30+ minutes in the hope that the call disconnects or you give up and stay a subscriber. This is borderline fraud, but since the current federal government has gutted the Better Business Bureau, there is very little chance of Optimum facing any consequences. read more

My mother, now an 80yr women has been an optimum customer since the 1980s. Optimum use to offer packages to keep the bill manageable but no more. Her bill has gone up by about $80.00 in 3 years with no increase or improvement in service. After it went up another $10.00 this month I called and spoke to a representative named Darryl to see what can be done. They said their best offer is a $15.00 a month discount; since the bill just went up by $10 is really only a $5.00 reduction. She doesn't work from home, she doesn't stream or game; she just watches TV making her usage far less than the average customer. She is 80yrs old on fixed income and wants to watch cooking shows, crime stories and during baseball season; the Yankees. Sadly, again because of her age I cannot switch providers, it just too. difficult for her to learn at this age. I will refrain from using the language that would accurately describe how disgusting it is that Optimum refuses to offer assistance who has been a customer for over 40yrs and now just needs little help at her advanced age. Shame on all of you. read more

As of 08-09-2026 Optimum has twice denied to Port my Home Phone Number from Optimum "Triple Play" (Triple Play is Phone/Cable TV/Internet) to my Magic Jack VOIP Account stating that the address doesn't match exactly because of the 4 digit postal code (5241) after my five digit 11210 Zip Code. The 4-Digit postal code was added to the Magic Jack VOIP Porting request and again sent to Optimum - which they again rejected. I've already spoken to another Optimum Representative last week and was told that my address matches exactly and there is nothing to correct. Optimum is charging me $312.44 per month and I am trying to discontinue Optimum Cable/Phone/Internet service but need to keep my home phone number and cannot cancel Optimum Service until my home phone number is ported to my Magic Jack Device. Optimum keeps sending rejection notices stating that the exact address doesn't match because of the extra 4-digit postal code after the 5-digit zip code to keep me chained to their ridiculously expensive Cable/Phone/Internet Service when a Magic Jack is $119.95 for 36 months of continuous phone service with zero monthly fees. read more

I have had spotty service for 3 years now. I was asked to increase my internet speed & swap out my modem & extender (each causing an increase in monthly payments, but no change to my service). The customer service agents are not helpful. They do the same things to try to reset & analyze the issue & they have told me that they set an appointment with a technician, only to wait for the technician & find out there was no appointment in the system. Both the internet service & the customer service is horrible. If not for the limited competition in the area, this company would not exist. read more

There was an outage and I had a tech out the next day. Her told me the outage was fixed and it was my router. I called Optimum and they told me there was an outage. Over the next 9 days, I had three additional techs out only to have the last tech tell me it was my router. I called to cancel and they told me I will be billed for the next full month and they wouldn't credit me for the outage time. After 1 1/2 hours on the phone with them, they cancelled today and prorated the charges for the outage. I was a 12 year customer and I am appalled by the way they handled this and would never recommend their service. read more

We have had Cablevision for 25 years. Our service was updated and has not worked properly since then. At this point it will disconnect coverage temporarily (at least). Cablevision reps have been contacted. And every employee lies. Five times we were told by their "outside the US" employees that the technician was on his way, that they didn't have the equipment or we weren't home. All lies. After putting you on hold they hang up and don't call back. They have a monopoly so they can mistreat you with impunity. We want compensation for this shoddy service. read more

After I got a much better deal from Verizon, at least for now, I called to cancel optimum as per instructions on the website They wouldn't do it. Really. They kept giving me a run around for 25 minutes offering deals I didn't want , insisted on knowing what was the matter after I told them many times, in general every run around those filth could think of, at the end of which they still did not agree to cancel my account . I filed a complaint with the FCC on their online form, which doesn't really cover the problem in the menus, and I am complaining to my senator. read more

I have been their customer for more than 32 yrs, much more if you add the previous yrs I spent with the company that they bought and which provide service to Bronx Riverdale residents. The relationship with Cablevision/Optimum has been an abusive one in which they do not respect loyalty, offer frangible promotional rewards to existing customers, and when they do take them away in future billing cycles and reverting you oftentimes to the original monthly payment with increases and taking away or downsizing some of the channels from your premium package. Their customer reps obviously read from a script and many times do not understand the reasons as to why you are calling, which you are calling which is to reduce the ballooning cost of maintaining cable service with their company. What they understand, is that there are no promotional offers available at this moment, and you are responsible for the current increase that continue after the promotion offer ends. My bill went from $298+ monthly to $324.25 until their usual annual contractual increase while most time taking away some of your favored channels without providing additional service which for the most time shoddy and expensive. My loyalty to this company has kept me mired to them and in turn loyalty to me has not been returned with lower affordable cost better service. It's about time I reevaluate my relationship with this company and minimize my exasperation and frustration. read more

You could start by not blaming the customer and taking responsibility for your poor service. The repair man came to my house in 30 minutes after he left the Internet went down for the whole day. They said they were coming back in an hour. They finally got back five hours later and yelled at me and berated me for complaining. The first repairman never came back so I had to call numerous times to have a supervisor come back and repair the poor job that the first person did. read more

This is unacceptable. Optimum needs to get some consultants in there for some customer service training and broaden their priorities from financial only to CUSTOMER SERVICE . If you want customers to stay or ever come back, this is not how you do it. i've had optimum wifi for 5 years. I moved and needed to cancel. My first call, I spent 30 minutes on the phone just trying to cancel, getting upsold repeatedly and asked the same questions over and over. I worked in patient hospitality for years, so I stayed polite but firm, saying no and just asking to cancel only to be told I couldn't until a month later because of my billing period, fine. I asked to cancel in advance and was told no, in the not most polite way. A week later I called again and was on the phone for an hour, asked the same questions, given the same upsell, when I finally got the guy to cancel, he transfers me for "verification of cancellation." Total lie. The next rep I was transferred did the exact same thing, same questions, same upsell for another 30 minutes.. FINALLY after more than an hour of calls, I returned the equipment.. SHOUTOUT to the Wappingers Falls onsite staff, who were great!!! @Josh Despite canceling, I've continued to receive multiple calls from customer service about my service and final payment, as well as asking the same questions and upsell. I even said I don't care about the charge, I'll pay it I just need the calls to stop. Instead, I got a rude rep who acted like I was the problem. After the third call, Optimum called me and then put me on hold immediately. Like what? read more
