Ordered pork chop, ravioli , and unfortunately, two orders of wings. The pork chop was ok, somewhat dry, but it had good flavor. Ravioli was very good, no complaints. The Blarney Castle re-opened about a month ago under new owners and a new chef. So ignore all previous reviews from that time. The place has been re-done but the "historic" fish remains. Sound suppressors have been installed and they help temper the noise. The limited wine list is well priced but unfortunately they were out of one of the two chardonnays (Bonanza) on the list. I ordered the other Chardonnay which was double the cost of the Bonanza (but still fairly priced for the quality) and it did not come out for 15 minutes. I alerted the waitress who stated that she was getting ice for it. The wine finally came with two chilled wine glasses (wrong) and it was warm. Strike two on the wine. Someone is not checking inventory. We got there as it opened at five. No excuse for not having a listed wine and then serving a warm $65 dollar bottle. Each plate of food was delivered in a staggered delivery about five to ten minutes apart. Food should come out at the same time to all customers. That's probably on the chef with the mercurial temperament. That being said; the food was very good. The chef can really cook but get there soon because he might not be there long. Four televisions the dining room is unnecessary and very distracting. Turn them off during service. I plan on going back for the good food but will bring my own wine. I got three different answers when I asked about a corkage fee; so I don't know what the corkage fee is. The owners are new and need time to adjust to the place. With the renovation, the place looks better BUT it is EXTREMELY LOUD. They added some sound absorbing pads but they don't help. I dined with my family and could not even hear the person across the table from me. One needs to yell in order to be heard. Owners need to do something about it. I don't understand why a restaurant puts TVs in the dining room. It is totally unnecessary. It's a distraction. Turn TVs off when serving food. Smallest portion I've ever seen! I could count the penne pasta in my order! 4 skinny slices of sausage. Called them and was told to simply not patronize anymore. All of course after they took $40 for two small orders 2 half empty side salads and a chunk of stale bread. Shameful! Ambience is old school bar/restaurant but don't be fooled. The food is always good and the service friendly. I always recommend the fish dishes and the beer is cold and fresh. Relatively inexpensive too. Not a first date spot, but more of a "we are comfortable with each other" dinner spot, when you are past the "trying to impress" stage. read more

I have been to the Blarney hundreds of times. It never fails to disappoint. My personal favorite is getting a nice and hot Chicken parm with a Coors Light to wash it down, for dessert I end off with a Green tea shot and a Mint chip shot. Listen, when I think of home, I think of the Blarney. There's nothing better than driving straight up to the Blarney, grabbing a few rounds with the fellas, and then driving home. The chicken parm is the greatest I've ever had (compliments to the chef!). Personally, having the chicken parm and a few mint chip shots is enough to turn my day from complete and utter misery, like usual, to a day full of happiness. Walking in and seeing the warm, welcoming, face of Uncle Tommy lets me leave my depression at the door until it comes back when I leave. I will never forget the countless days and nights I have spent kicking Coors Lights back at the Blarney. It is a dive bar located in Breezy Point, NY. It was a fully stocked bar and great cold a/c on those hot summer days. Used by locals and summer visitors to this beach coop community, it also host a restaurant (Which I have never tried) and has all sports games on for your entertainment. Can get busy on weekend nights. Check it out if you are in the area...but if not...you are not missing anything special. read more

The Blarney Castle is a Breezy Point institution and historical landmark that I surmise makes more money per square foot than any "Tapas Bar" or other pathetic hipster trap that Julie G. and Theresa Grillo L. regularly patronize. In fact, I would be willing to bet my unborn child's life on it. Now to the good stuff. Do not come to the Blarney expecting Wolfgang Puck's finest work. It's a good old fashioned tavern where some dude who looks like your great uncle Milton churns out 175 dinners a night from a 4' x 8' kitchen. I have never come home from a meal at the Blarney clamoring to call Zagat, but the basic menu items are pretty solid. Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, and a vegetable - it is your average household spread. No luck if you are looking for pinapple-acai seared southwestern Turkish flounder, as I am sure this joke of a human being Theresa was. On top of all that, the price is right. A few beers and that particular night's meat-and-potatoes special will probably run you and a pal $30 each, with tip. The Blarney is also endeared for its dance floor, which becomes available on Friday and Saturday nights in the summer months. An eclectic mix is spun by local disc jockey Brian Leafy as droves of 20-somethings clamor in to boogie on assorted restaurant furniture. Dive Central. I've been here twice and I can say with great certainty that this place is totally run down and could use a major makeover (as in renovations/updates). The silverware and napkins they use look like they haven't been updated since 1980 and they probably haven't. I can't even go into detail about the decor because there really isn't even a point.
