The food is fantastic. The roast beef is the best I've ever had. French onion soup, fried shrimp and pork loin is also delicious. The hidden gems here are the pub menu items. The burger is huge and delicious. Roast beef bun and mozzarella sticks are perfect. Wash it all down with one of the best dirty martinis I have had. Top it off with a wonderful friendly staff. I know that this has been a restaurant in the area for many years. I've drove past it for probably 10 years and always wondered what the food was like. I visited on a rainy day because I was in the mood for steak and was just going to make my own, but then I said, let me try this restaurant. It did not disappoint. It isn't an upscale steakhouse. It was a great restaurant. I enjoyed my steak. It was well prepared. My complaints would be that the mashed potatoes seemed like they were from a box and the carrots had literally no taste. Also to come to a restaurant and get a salad like this is kind of mediocre. I would expect a little more effort in the salad maybe spinach, arugula, mixed greens, not just iceberg lettuce. Service was really good and the staff were friendly. The interior decor is very Comfy yet old school you kind of feel like you're in a grandmother's living room. so that is still a good touch. In my opinion it keeps the authenticity of the restaurant. there is ample Street parking as well as metered parking so I would say the location is good for a restaurant. read more

Wife and I went out to dinner with another couple recently at Buckley's and we had a very nice time. We just had a simple dinner of cheeseburgers, but the food was hot delicious and the service was exceptional. Parking in Brooklyn is always a challenge, but we did find a spot a block or two away, but that is not Buckley's fault or responsibility to find. Generally, a good and cozy place but out with a few friends and we got the bill and they already added the gratuity in. We usually like to leave cash for the tip so the servers don't have to wait for it. So that annoyed us. Then the restaurant determined the amount of the tip, we as a group always give 20%. They put 21%. Not a big deal but it shouldn't be up to the place to determine. It's still a good place but next time we all pay in cash only. read more

Been coming here for years now. Vincent is a staple and a great bar tender. Food is always served fresh and hot, Prices are inexpensive and you'll find all the typical bar fare, as well as some other items that are specials on the menu like the seafood chowder. Roast beef Sandwich with fries is an amazing thing, Calamari, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, fries, and an amazing house gravy round out the top bar foods to get. Wings are amazing as well. I've been a patron at Buckley's for the past 30 years. This Irish pub/restaurant has withstood the test of time - it's been around for over 50 years. Even though I no longer live in the vicinity, I don't miss an opportunity to dine there when I have the chance. The manager (I think she's the owner as well) is always pleasant and accommodating, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the food has never disappointed. The roast beef is always delicious and cooked to perfection, and their mashed turnips are always a must. The decor is cozy and reminiscent of an Irish pub - always warm and inviting. There's also an event space in the back, and I've been to numerous parties over the years. This place is a real "neighborhood" place, not touristy at all, with locals that have been frequenting it for generations. read more

Got Easter diner take out for my grandmother and myself this year with everything going on. Very happy with how it all came out. I got chicken frances and she got roast prime rib. The meals came with a veggie soup and dessert as well as green beans, carrots, mashed potatoes and mashed turnips. Everything was tasty and it really put a smile in our faces after being inside for more then a month. Can't wait to go back when this is all over! read more

We were there to celebrate 2 friends birthdays. During the course of the dinner a young girl bus person decides to start taking the dishes away. I was still eating and asked her if she would stop doing that and wait until we were finished. Apparently she thought she was being reprimanded and went crying to the hostess named Terry. An older woman. She came to our table and started telling me how I should learn how to talk to people. She continued with some more not very nice things. I said, whatever happened to the customer is always right!? She told me to never to that again! I'm a grown woman and have never been treated that way. Needless to say we paid the bill and decided to leave. I had a little more to say to her but she was sitting at the bar with a large glass of wine and the bottle next to it. I moved to this neighborhood about a year ago and I finally got a chance to stop in with my husband for a couple of drinks. The service was great. The bartender was very friendly and helpful and let you taste the beer on tap. The other staff members were also very friendly and approachable. We come here every year for Thanksgiving and it only seems to get better every year. The turkey is juicy, served au jus. They will give you light or dark meat or a combo. The sides all excellent - sweet potatoes simply roasted and not cooking candied. Veggies are crisp and nicely done lot limp. Excellent apple pie for dessert is amazing. Buckley's is a neighborhood favorite and serves up delicious comfort food. Some of our favorites are the prime rib, salmon and burgers. The overpriced Prosecco & soft drinks are insane. The refills on sodas are not offered nor communicated; 1 coke will run you $10.00. The communication is not their strongest point, I had to ask several times for the same item. The location doesn't honor birthday celebrations with a complimentary beverage. We spent $600+ and the request was a hard no, pretty inconsiderate and tacky. The owner said they get a lot of birthdays, and can't afford the loss funds lol. I won't be splurging my funds or referring this location to any of my counterparts. If common courtesy & customer appreciation is not valued, no reason to waste my energy or money. read more

The salad wasn't really a traditional salad it was just lettuce on a plate with one slice of tomato. The steaks were average. The portions were a large. I recently came to Buckleys for dinner, on a Monday night, with my girlfriend and her mom. My girlfriends mother lives a block away, so we all decided to go out and have a nice dinner together. This was my first time here, but they both have been here plenty of times in the past, and highly recommended I try it. Once we were seated, we started out with an order of fried calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was great. The special for Monday was Pot Roast, so my girlfriend's mom ordered that as her meal, while my girlfriend ordered the roast beef, and I ordered the boneless NY strip steak cooked medium. We all tried each others meals, and I must admit everything was excellent. My favorite of the 3 was the roast beef. It was just prepared perfectly, came with nice hot gravey on it, and the mashed potato side made it even better. The steak was pretty awesome as well. Nice and charred and cooked with a perfectly pink center. Overall, I loved this place and will be coming back another time to try some more of their dinner items offered. read more

The onion soup was the best I've tasted in a very long time. Smoky, cheesy perfection. Thursday special, corned beef and cabbage was suburb. My husband and I go to Buckleys quite often for dinner and an occasional lunch but today we were treated to something extra special. They ran a buffet brunch for Mothers Day and it was fantastic. There were so many choices including salmon, chicken, breakfast items, eggplants, bow tie macaroni, salad in tortilla shells, etc and that is not including the dessert table and drinks. The staff was great and the event ran perfectly. It was priced reasonably.My only regret is that I wish they would run it more often. My family loves a good buffet and there aren't many around. Nothing special here. Never asked if a soda refill was wanted. They also charge for refills. Fish served without tarter sauce. Then it takes 10 minutes to get it while food gets cold. All these restaurants have taken advantage of covid. Plus a 4% charge for credit card.. read more

Celebrated my sons' B'nai Mitzvah this past Saturday. I couldn't have asked for anything better. Jennifer and Kathy were so accommodating in every way. The servers were phenomenal. Everything from the cocktail hour right to the dessert and candy tables was AMAZING. Friends and family had nothing but great things to say and are still telling me how great the party was. I love this place (for lunch). The negatives: dinner menu is very different than lunch menu, and about 2x-3x more expensive. Its also alot busier, and staff gets worn a little thin. This does not seem to stop the regulars from going there for dinner and enjoying themselves, though. The positives: pretty much everything else. Lunch menu is traditional sandwiches, wraps, and burgers, as well as a "Specials" board which carries over to dinner. This place is lost in a time warp somewhere around the early 1970s. The decor, which has been carefully maintained, is now so dated as to be super cool. Lots of wood paneling, cozy booths, friendly staff, good selection of beers on tap, and more bottles and full bar. Good for watching sports in the bar, and if you hate sports, then you can't see or hear the TV in the restaurant area. Anyway, this place is almost too good to be true, and its amazing that its still here and family run (by the same family), and has not become a Duane Reade or a Starbucks. This place really falls into the "I don't want to Yelp it and blow up the spot", but my wish for them to stay open and prosper trumps that, so here it is. Anyway, its rarely very busy at lunch (unlike dinner, at which other reviewers report long waits), and the fries, sandwiches, burgers, and salads, soups, and drinks are all really good and reasonably priced. Came for a coworker's farewell party. Their food was okay but their entree came super late (at around 10PM). Also, their salad was just meh, I think they had too much dressing? Their pasta was good though. I don't have much to say about this since I was trying to take many pictures of my coworkers with their dim lighting and flitting around and waiting to grab bites of food in between. Here's areal authentic Irish American bar/restaurant. It is a classic institution here related to Kennedy's in Breezy Point in Rockaway. People who come eat here are devoted true believers. The waitresses are welcoming and very friendly. We get seated right away in the taproom area our favorite. We're asked what we would like to drink and order the house cab. It is smooth and absolutely delicious! Um! Special tonight is fried calamari and we devour it when it's brought to the table. Made to perfection. Fresh and crunchy. Not mushy or overdone. Some of the best I've ever had...Perfection! Tonight the specials are London Broil and roast beef, recommended by our waitress. She assures us we will not be disappointed. Well she was exactly right and the roast beast really hits the spot. My son's London Broil is absolutely delicious. Tender and made just right with gravy and mushrooms. The side dish of turnips reminds me of what my mother made for Thanksgiving. Not at all bitter creamy and buttery. I get the waitress to bring another dish of it. Can't get enough! Really nice atmosphere. Very solid food and great service. We ate in the restaurant area which was very comfortable but we also noticed they have a good bar area with a decent selection of tap beer. For Marine Park this is definitely your best spot for a steak or wings. They have the casual pub food on the bar menu and the fancier steaks and stuff on the restaurant menu. This restaurant & bar situated in the Marine Park neighborhood of Brooklyn offers up delicious American fare and drinks from their beautiful bar. One room which has a fireplace has been the gathering place for many family celebrations over the years. The prime rib is not to be missed and the chicken picotta is fabulous. I have it on excellent authority that the shrimp scampi is excellent and the fish is very good. They also have a quiet, small room with booths and a room that can be used for parties. I confess that I haven't been there for lunch but fail to see that it would be anything but delicious. All in all, a wonderful ding experience close to home. read more
