The best cable network there is in Bakersfield is Direct TV and they weren't able to install any device on our property due to our apartment policy. This saved me time and headaches, lol! If I could give them a 0 stars I would. I have been having issues with Spectrum's On Demand feature, and after several attempts at rebooting my service box and continues conversations with Spectrum I'm still having difficulties with on demand. I spoke with a supervisor "Robert" over in Florida, whom informed me based on the information I provided he would need to do research with dispatch in my area (California) 2 hours later and I have not heard a word back from him and I highly doubt he will be calling me back. This company is the worst cable company ever and all the employees I have experience contact with have been horrible the worst customer service ever. They have lost me as a customer and I will be sharing my experience with my friends and family. DO NOT USE THEM!!!! read more

Spectrum lies and deceives their customers on a daily basis I'm sure. When they switched me from bright house to their service my bill went from $54 a month for 200 Mbps internet to $150+. I degraded my service to 60 Mbps to keep my bill around $50 a month and they were only giv by me 30 Mbps. When I called to complain and get an adjustment on my bill, they told me it was my fault for not noticing and I should have called sooner. WTF Spectrum? What about all the people who don't know how to check their speed? You're ripping them off and they are not even aware of it. read more

We moved back to Bakersfield in 2013, bought a home and knew we did not want AT&T, so we went with Brighthouse (Internet only). The WiFi was acceptable, we could stream our shows on Netfilx, etc. When paying my bill, I have always used their website and submitted my payment with an EFT (using my checking account rather than my debit card). Never once had a problem until last month. Their site rejected my payment, I called customer service and was told to go to my bank and see why it was rejected. The next day I went to my bank and they said it was never presented. I called customer service again, but this time the rep was rude and talked over me. She spoke to the bank branch manager and argued with him about who rejected the payment. In addition to this, Spectrum added a late fee of $25 and said I couldn't use my checking account for 6 months to pay my bill! She finally asked me what I wanted (after an hour!!!). I told her to reverse the late fee and unlock my account so I could pay my bill. She said she would, but she didn't exactly do that. She gave my a $20 credit and unlocked my account 3 days later. Now I owe for 2 months (I always pay on time!!). So on 10/05/19 I paid my bill in full $146.98, on their site using my checking account. Well guess what, it was rejected again. I went to the store on California Avenue, explained what happened and was told to pay at the kiosk (the agent was very understanding, but they couldn't really do anything). Well the kiosk rejected the check and that's the only way you can pay there. I'm done Spectrum can take their lousy internet and pound sand. Brighthouse was a much better company to deal with, Spectrum sucks. By the way, I'm mailing a check to them and I'll fight like hell when they want to bill me a late fee.... They get one star for having decent internet although it decides to take a dump sometimes. But the television is H O R R I B L E ! ! ! It ticks me off when I pay for a service and I don't get the channels I want at certain times. And the automatic shutting off of the box in the middle of a show. Completely disturbing and concerning. Our billing was set up under our landlord's name?! Called to have them fix it and now they want us and the landlord to go in to the Spectrum office with ID's to fix their mistake! first of all this is concerning to me, as they are using social security numbers to set up an account but they get the name wrong?! second of all we need to take time off everyone's unknown busy schedules to go in to fix this?! It's my personal opinion that since Spectrum took over Brighthouse we have had better service. I certainly hope it stays that way.

I would give them 5 stars if they didn't send contract installers out that didn't know anything and had poor English. We recently moved and had to have an actual Brighthouse tech come out and fix the shoddy install the contractor did initially. That said, I always get the advertised 40mbit down/4mbit up speeds, day or night. No throttling, no caps. The max speed I could get out of AT&T U-Verse at my house is 25mbit (over fiber optic??!?!). For me, speed and connection reliability are the two most important things and Brighthouse has not failed me on either (other than the setup hiccup previously mentioned). read more

Absolutely by far the worst internet provider I have ever had experienced ! Calling customer service is pretty much a useless waste of your time. they will reset your connection (I'm not sure they even do anything) and that's about all your gonna get ! I can barely stream my amazon without the picture freezing and the picture quality sucks also ! Thank god I don't have to rely on them television since I have direct tv. I long for Brighthouse who would send a tech over and separate your signal with a machine from all the other signals in the neighborhood ! Great customer service, but the price is outrageous. I recently spoke to a customer rep to see what we could do to lower my bill. My current bill is 189 a month. I offered to give up 2 cable boxes and cut out HBO, Stars... my big savings would be 6 dollars a month. I've had Dish before and was not happy with them at all, Uverse was ok, but their customer service was garbage, and directv being owned by AT&T is completely out of the question. Looks like Spectrum is my only option at almost 200 dollars a month... crazy compared to the 40 dollars I was paying 10 years ago. read more

Whatever you do, do not believe anything they say to you on the phone. We tried to change our due date by 2 days after we were told we could and then after waiting for 20 minutes and 12 seconds we were told they cannot change our payment and there is ABSOLUTELY nothing they can or will do. Spectrum changes installation fees for their internet service. $49.99 for their 100mbps and $199.99 for their 300mbps. The installation labor is exactly the same for both speeds. Spectrum simply charges more for the faster speed because they can. If you agree to bundle your internet with their grossly over priced cable tv service and their unnecessary home phone service (unnecessary if you have a cell phone) they will wave the fees. In some cases, they insist on charging for your first month and last month's charges on top of their installation fee. Ridiculous. I never thought I would say this but I miss Bright House Networks. They never charged for installation and offered faster speeds at similar pricing. Spectrum is such a disappointment. read more

Same problem as a year ago, multiple service calls including one where they didn't show up, and no resolution. Promised credits, but now they can't issue credits until problem is resolved! Isn't THAT special?!?!?!? Problem is the tap is on the other side of the street and the line under the street is filled with water. Tech actually told the next door neighbor that their engineering department was just sitting on the problem. If it was possible to a negative star count I would. The customer service was horrible! First off, they signed us up and gave us an appointment for Thursday instalation between 10 and 2. No one showed up. So we called, and some how, they had us in their records not scheduled untill the following week. Fine, typo, whatever. They ended up saying they would be giving us a plan that was SUPPOSED to include, phone cable, and 300mg Internet for 147, for being "new clients". The guy came by Saturday and set up the cable. Later we realise, we only had 60mg Internet, and no phone! So we called. We got transfered to more than 5 people to fix the phone and Internet before they told us it was going to be a charge of 187 a month! That was never what was agreed on! We said we weren't paying that much and said to just put us back on our old plan.... the best part! They refused to let us go back to our old plan of 100mg! Because miraculously it now is no longer availavle....this all happened I less than 24 hours! We had just been on that plan the day before....now it no longer exists! The people on the phone were of no help, super rude....including their "shift supervisor" that just didn't want to listen or coperate...never in my whole life have I gotten such poor assistance! Never will I recommend this company! They don't give you what they claim, they don't honor their priceing, and service sucks! I can't express how mad I am about the whole company! read more

I was watching Truck Tech this morning and Spectrum has a commercial putting down DirecTV and Dish because they are not reliable and they go down in the rain. She asked me why and I explained to her that we would be moving in with someone who already had internet service. She asked me four more times why we didn't want to move our service. Was going to have Spectra TV hooked up so I could watch the Dodgers but the kid they sent was less than enthusiastic to do the job. I agree with other posts that Bakersfield definitely needs another location. Arriving at this Spectrum when it opens at 10am on Saturday is like walking up to the DMV at 9am without a reservation. Yet, I got on the waiting list and I was seen very soon and efficiently. Some of the prior reviews hark back to the days when your only TV option was your franchised cable operator. We have so many TV options and most folks are going to streaming services that do not have long term contracts or equipment. Yet, be wary my friends. As soon as the cable and satellite TV industries die off in this decade, and the streaming market stabilizes, the streaming services will be just as difficult as cable and satellite TV providers, especially when they learn how many people share their logins with friends and extended family--not just immediate family. For now, go to streaming if you don't like Spectrum TV. The big issue I have right now is Spectrum Internet is my only option for ultra-high-speed internet. I can't wait until 5G rolls out or Google brings gigabite internet to the Bake. Final comment: I found it peculiar that my CSR's attitude toward me changed dramatically when she could not get me to switch mobile phone carriers from AT&T to Spectrum Mobile. Over the last several months spectrum internet speed has been very slow or completely non functional at my home and business . I have had to connect to my verizon mifi several times in order to do my work. When I have called spectrum they blame it on the Wifi (which they provide). I just had a problem a few minutes ago trying to load a page and was beginning to think it might be my computer. I decided to run the internet speed test. Turned out 10.5 upload and 2.9 down load. Each bill you pay is for the next month service. So on May 25th I paid my bill for June 8th to July 8th. Well I cancelled my bill June 12th in the middle of a month I paid. I wish I could give them a zero-star rating. They cancelled my service today, without notice. We are on auto-pay and didn't expect to be cancelled. Had they warned us, even sent an email, we would have fixed the issue immediately. Instead they just stopped our service unexpectedly, on the 2nd week of school, with 3 students relying on internet for their homework! My SO and I have been on the phone with them multiple times today, separately. We are both getting completely different info from the representatives and each of us has been hung up on while we were on hold. That should not be a common occurrence. When we call back, we have to start all over with a new representative. The one message both of us are getting is that we have to restart our plan and we can't go back to our old Bright House plan. We have to sign up with a new Spectrum plan. Even though we fixed the issue immediately. Makes me think they didn't warn us about our service because they want everyone to switch to the two new Spectrum plans they offer. Yes, they only offer two options now. Both are more expensive than our previous plan. After asking around a bit, many of my friends feel the same about Spectrum and have made the switch. Internet goes down sporadically a few times month and every time we dread having to call them on the normal day we will get transferred to 7-10 different people before eventually getting cut off! There installers have about as much experience or know how as my little pinky toe! I have never been treated more horrible as a paying customer then with this company! They now charge a 5.00 fee if you have to call them to make a payment on the account! WTH? Just sickening! and it disgusts me that they are my only option if i want internet! I moved here to Bakersfield and started with Bright house, that was Good, but now just for internet Spectrum want's $70 a month. When they took over and my Bright house deal was up, I should have been a new customer, But no!. People who have a job and are not on Disability can afford to bundle and get the same service for $21.99 mo., It doesn't cost Spectrum any difference if they charge it individually or bundle it? It all gets to your house the same way same line. It's Freaking Greed at it's best and totally UN-American. They have a Monopoly here and they Suck as a company because of it. I us my computer as my phone and don't have a carry around phone. I can't work because of health issues. I gave a 2 because the internet has been good but not worth the Cost.
