I don't have cable service, but my friends at 2514, 2516 and 2518 X Street in Bakersfield do. It failed and all three made service appointments for today, September 1st. At 10 am, a truck came out to 2514; the technician said that the old cable couldn't handle the heat and needed to be repaired or replaced. At 3pm a second truck with a second technician arrived at 2516 and made the same diagnosis. At 5pm a third truck with a third technician checked 2518 and gave them the same news. With this kind of gross inefficiency, no wonder the lines are in disrepair. read more

I called Spectrum (661) 323-4892 several times today to set up internet service and right when the automated voice transferred me to a live person the call disconnected. I thought there must have been some type of random disconnection but it happened on 5 attempts. I finally got through to a live person who said she needed to transfer me to another department. 20 minutes later a recording comes on letting me know they are no longer accepting calls and once again the call was disconnected. I'm seriously reconsidering internet providers. If I'm having issues with customer service to start service then I will most likely have issues as an existing customer should an issue arise. I just don't have the time or energy to deal with a company that executes such poor customer service. read more

They wanted money for services the DID NOT PROVIDE!!!!! I had Spectrum installed in my home in mid March. I called 2 days in to complain about the picture quality, numerous calls/complaints, 3 different boxes, and 5 technicians later and it is still not resolved! I spoke to 8 different people in 2.5 hours last night and now they have turned off all of my services! I paid for the phone & internet service but refused to pay for cable I have not had. They explained I have a 'large' credit of $55 but refuse to use it towards my current balance. Stressful and disappointing :( read more

They made a hole on my window and it's been over a year now and they said they will send someone to fix it and they never fixed it .. my husband called again and they said they didn't do the whole when obviously they did when they installed our internet. They are the absolute worst! I don't have enough room to express how unsatisfied I am with Spectrum! Two years of complete torture! I would change to Direct TV but we have 9 TVs and they tell me it's not possible. I am stuck with Spectrum! They need to go satellite but are way too cheap although they have doubled our bill since Brighthouse sold out to them! Constant interruptions on the channels and the phone! Worse customer service ever! Got here 28 minutes to turn in cable box and there were 17 people in front of me. There's 7 in front and 13 behind me and only 2 customer services reps working!! I turned in my cable boxes after notifying that I no longer wanted the cable service. Spectrum has continued to bill me. I am finally removed from billing, but they want payment even for time after I returned equipment. They have no record because of "my area". No thumbprint. So, I need to dig through my home for a receipt from 6 weeks ago and find transportation, or pay $208. I tried to call "my area". so have been a Customer for years... Brighthouse was OK - Customer Service was Pretty Decent and lines at the office weren't bad typically. Now with Spectrum... Not so good. Only thing i can say.. Don't use their Modem, Don't use their Router use your own Modem and Routers Eero/Google Wifi/Ampli/Other for larger houses with wifi needs Extenders are not worth the expense - Yes you will be out ~$500 in parts but will save some of that. They are now not charger for their modems, but still are charging for them in the service anyway - so its there just different - get your own gear it will last longer and have better quality and range. would also recommend homerun DVR from Silicon Dust or Slingbox / Tivo DVR unit - CableCard supported ~$5 a month vs 10-15 their Digital Receivers and Remotes will always die after 2-3 years just a fact. Depending on your neighborhood you'll possibly have issues with your Cable line before it hits your house... Make sure the technician tells you quality of connection from the street vs at the house exterior / main point. This helps to determine if they are having quality issues before it even hits your house. If you have an old house - good luck - the quality of the CATV lines will be your issue as well as the service. Also Manage an Enterprise Acct wit them.. Since it changed from BH to Spectrum(Charter) - i'm ready to also drop that service as well... good time to be an ATT Rep for Enterprise / Business Accounts again apparently - many are leaving for TW / ATT. ATT is the SAME AWFUL but at least you know what you're getting. Can't recommend Spectrum any longer - Really sucks because there are some great technicians and Reps there that I feel are going to have their jobs in jeopardy because they don't fit the Customer Service Script and get things done quickly, but the new company is not designed for speed or customer service unfortunately. its designed to frustrate and delay.... read more

LITERALLY the worst. As a diehard Dodgers fan I am strong-armed into ordering this awful service every baseball season just to watch the games. $67 a month for one channel, and already my service has gone down 3 times this season, during the games. Now I'm on hold for over 30 minutes to speak with someone who can hopefully help me out and explain to me why my service has gone down again. NEVER had this trouble with DirecTV or Uverse. read more

Today the TV has cut in and out every 12-20 minutes, the contact phone number they have has had a busy signal all day, so you can't even call. The router is from Bright house and the technician came the day before to change it but the problem continue. The technician suggested to change all the cables that has been working properly since 2008. I really do not recommend to go and change your service with this poor quality service read more

I switched service from one house to a new house. I was on the phone for over an hour and they still got it wrong and lied to me about costs and services. When their contractor came to install he informed me that I cannot have additional TVs hooked up with out cable boxes--so I had to order those and pay a monthly fee for them. I was told on the phone that their phone service comes with back up batteries, it doesn't--this is extra. In the midst of the change they deleted my email address that I have had for years and years, said they would get it back for me. I went into the local office and worked with the front desk manager, who was helpful, but my issue with the email hasn't been resolved and now she doesn't return my calls. If I were able to get LA stations on ATT, Dish or Direct TV I would switch in a heartbeat. They are just a mess to deal with--even used the excuse with me saying they had bad training for the conversion from Bright House to Spectrum. read more

Read every other crappy review about this piss poor company and that will pretty much sum up my thoughts on Brighthouse. But then again when you are the only game in town you don't have to be good, now do you? Update. Every time this company gets bought out it gets worse and worse. Our internet slowed to almost a crawl. Which was 20 mbps hardwired and wifi. (We are paying for 200 mbps on both hardwired and wifi.) So when Spectrum came out to fix they replaced the modem and router. Unfortunately they no longer provide wireless routers, the router has to be hardwired to it. So the farther you go away from it in the house. The worse the signal is. (We used to have the modem in a room, and the router in the living room.) They took the wifi router we used to have in the living room due to lack of wireless router support. So we were getting around 70 mbps wifi with the new setup, when I got around 200 mbps on wifi with the old setup. Spectrums answer to this was for ME to go buy a wireless signal booster that plugs in to the wall. So $70 dollars later I now get 100 mbps on the wifi, when I got 200 before. Yet I am paying the same amount of money, basically for a lower wifi speed. This is b.s. It might be time to change providers after all the horrible service I have had over the years. read more

Brighthouse isn't competent enough so they contract out to Roadrunner high speed internet. But you only get actual high speed if you pay extra. It's pretty slow for cable access. And the tech staff aren't very knowledgeable. However they are very condescending as if they think they're smarter than you. read more

Have had problems with all aspects of this company from installation to support to billing. I even had a tech come to my home recently who could not speak english and brought his 12 year old son to translate. I continually have problems with my connection and continually have problems with slow speeds and can get no resolution from Brighthouse. Having such limited choices in this town finding an alternative is difficult but as soon as I do I will be cancelling all services with Brighthouse and moving on. So we finally eat dinner and he decides to show up a half hour after the window has ended without so much as a phone call? Doesn't anyone believe in courtesy anymore? Cable has been out 5 days have spoken to about 6-7 people and I get we will get it fixed right away, tech just cancels our appt because he wanted to, had a Supervisor come out on a Sunday night to see if it was Really Off??? Then said well there are some good wires and some bad wires not sure what to do???? So basically tough shit ! Now this has been going for on for over a year supposedly this time there is work that is being done ... it must be in outer space because no one has said where this work is being done?? Zero stars for this company. I placed a request to have Internet installed in my apartment. Nobody called to confirm the appointment and of course nobody showed up. I called customer service who gave me an appointment on a way later date. The day before the new appointment date, a confirmation call came in with the time I specified earlier that nobody will be in the unit. So I called again customer service who wishes to reschedule me again to a later date. Talked to a supervisor who gives me the time slot which works for me. Fine. I'll give props to that guy. Then of course on the actual appointment again, nobody showed up to install my internet. It seems this company does not want my business. So I won't bother with them anymore. We had just recently upgraded with Brighthouse (not that it was much of one to begin with) now we pay nearly twice as much yet have now lost almost every channell we upgraded to AS OF TODAY, and then some, and we still have to pay the upgrade price? 7 years of dealing with WiFi going out. They replaced my router and modem 5 times, added repeaters, moved the box 3 times, fixed a bad wire outside twice at pole, was told bad update on their end, bad boxes 3 times, handed over to escalated depth still having issues. 15 service calls told everything from bad update, bad box, not in right spot, bad surge suppressor, to not use one, all the way to its your house. Fed up I tried 2 of my own routers and modems still same issue. Fed up bought top of the line router and modem. Still sane issue but now they say it's because I'm not using their crap equipment. Seriously I pay for fast speed and it constantly drops in and out. Last straw was they said no gaurantee on WiFi yet it still drops out on direct connection. Checked my setting on router and it shows it drops out yet all they do is reset it. Sadly no choice to use them as they are the fastest. read more

Sooooo, I switched from AT&T because Spectrum came to my door telling me how great their service was and how much cheaper it was and that If I left AT&T they would pay my last bill to get out of AT&T. I have had Spectrum for a month now and the cable sucks! The internet sucks! And now they are saying that they won't pay my last bill. Only the Early termination fee which I don't have because I was with AT&T for so long! If they would have told me his from the beginning I would have not switched. Now I have to pay $300 to AT&T because of the bill and late fees because I waited so Spectrum would pay it and now I'm stuck with spectrum and at&t bill! plus the contract buyout is such a hassle and annoying. I have Internet and TV through Bright House... the Internet portion is great. My TV though is ALWAYS cutting out/not working. I will get pixel-ation and freezing while trying to watch TV, and then I'll get a message saying that the channel is unavailable. It is at random times, and annoying when I am trying to watch shows in peace. Bright House is also overpriced. I am paying $92/month for just Internet and TV - just a basic cable package, no special channels. read more

Intermittent internet functionality. Those three words best describe my experience with Brighthouse cable internet. When it's working it's great and I have no complaints. That's what I'm paying for, right? It should always work. When it's not working and I actually have the time to call customer service, they like to tell me things like "have your modem tested" and "that's not our modem so we can only help you with a connection test". They've said for ME to do other things which makes me angry. They've even sent out a tech (recently) and he even admitted it could be their cable lines but phone tech support won't address that possible problem. Inevitably, the service disruption ends & the Internet connection is fine. There is nothing wrong with my modem! There is nothing wrong with my router! When the Internet is down, it's often for an entire day!!! Brighthouse's solution for me is to lease THEIR modem and only then will they be able to help me. I can't wait for more options. Again, there is nothing wrong with my modem! In fact, it is the exact same model that they would lease to me if I wanted to pay an extra 4 to 5 bucks a month for their service. I really don't! I only want to find an ISP that simply works. read more

I have been Bright House-free for nearly 5 years now and I have NEVER regretted switching over to Dish Networks. My service has not gone out one time, the picture is never scrambled and the rates remain constant. Compare that to CONSTANT cable outtages, a frequently scrambled image and very, very poor customer service. Oh, I seem to recall my bill going up several times yearly with Bright House as well. If you are a Bright House user, please consider switching over to Dish Networks, a far better deal with superior product and timely customer support. read more
