Of all the variety of food we ordered the pickle that came with our philly cheese sandwich was the only item that was tasty. We live a block away but will never go there again and can not recommend it to anyone. I've heard that people go there to drink and then eat. Now I now why! I love the new Spanky's! Definitely a huge upgrade and the food now matches the decor! Great pizza joint! Very heavy on the cheese and super greasy, but they are serving up pizza and beer in a brand new building with flat screens everywhere! The reason I'm giving 1 star is for the service. They have a lot of older women who have been there for decades. It's really mind-boggling how they can get away with such careless and lackluster service. My waitress, Rachel, brought out the wrong appetizer. After pointing this out she insisted it was what I asked for. We then proceeded throughout the meal with close to no drink refills. We also had to wait for 10 minutes after asking for a box and the check, mind you it was the SECOND time we had done so. The table next to us was seated after us, and left before us! I've heard about Spanky's for a while. Tried to go a few weeks ago and it was super crowded. That's a good sign, right? We went back this weekend. It smells great and the staff is friendly. That is the best I can say about it. We ordered Mexi-skins as an appetizer. My bad. I read the ingredients as having chilis (as in peppers) but it was chili... as in wolf brand. WTH?... potato skins with a heap of greasy chili, and cheese on top with bell pepper . Dude. No. They didn't get eaten. The waitress also never took the vile things off the table or offered to take them off the check. I ordered the Tuscano pizza. Spinach, kalamata and green olives, artichoke hearts, onions, feta cheese and fresh tomatoes, with a pesto olive oil for sauce. Nice and garlicky. Why is there so much sugar in the crust? Why does this need to be sweet? Boyfriend ordered the Super Duper-pepperoni, green pepper, mushrooms, ham, Italian sausage, beef, onion & black olives. Pretty sure he is trying to make up for my lack of meat eating by eating all the meat ever. He liked it, but again, the dough was sweet. yick. When refilling ice tea, the waitstaff might want to remember the ice part of it. I don't need to go back. Lots of other pizza places around with a better pie. read more

I regularly visit Spanky's. The food is awesome, but the waitstaff could use some lessons on bettering their customer service. One of the times I went, the waitress I had spoke to her coworker about how she hated working the daytime shift because customers don't necessarily tip well. This was said within earshot. My friend and I along with a lady who was sitting at a table next to us just looked at each other and were in disbelief about what we had heard. I mean, it's fine if you hate certain aspects of a job, but do not say it in front of guests. I felt rather uncomfortable with that comment. She seemed rather rude and just wanted to get rid of us. I know people have their good and bad days, but cmon! I went today for their Wednesday special. At the end of the meal, the waitress failed to mention that the pizza that I ordered was not a part of the special. I was fine with that. However, three other people I went with wanted to split an item cost. The waitress said that was not possible. We were annoyed because we knew it could be done. Another waitress took over the situation, once again, rude like and made us go to the computer to assist her in inputting the information. The fact that the original waitress shoved us to the side was disappointing. Having been a waitress myself, I understand the struggle and appreciate effort. Customer service was poor, so I tipped accordingly. All of that aside, the food was wonderful, but maybe I'll be more selective as to who I get as my server. read more

I love the food here! I use to go to the one on Spencer, but this location is way better! My waitress was Diana, and she made my family and I feel so welcomed. The atmosphere here is really kick back and friendly. I notice the manager Adam walked around and checked on everyone. He introduced himself to us and made sure everything was great. A lot of people seem to like this place but for me it was nothing special. I love pizza and I am always down to try any pizza. I don't usually make it to the side of town but If I hear rumors about great pizza, it is always worth to give it a try. As we were entering it smelled so good, I was anticipating eating a great pizza. The place is spacious and it was pretty full, always a good indication. We ended up ordering a pepperoni hand tossed pizza and a caesar salad. The salad was good, better than most restaurants. But I didn't come here for the salad. The pizza itself looked like a great pizza. By the time the pizza arrived at the table I was already annoyed that they don't offer coke, only pepsi and that they didn't even offer one of those pizza spatulas to get the pizza slices onto your plate. The pizza itself was cheesy and gooey. To me, it tasted like early 90's pizza hut. The crust was simply too thick and fluffy. I like crust that is crispy and regular pizza thickness. I must say that I am partial to authentic italian pizza and Spanky's is just not. I think the regular diner will definitely like this pizza. My service was horrible for the last few visit I been here I have been profiled with my sisters. The waiter act like she did not want to service us so we asked the manager to come take our order and once again we got passed up. The rest of the staff was standing at the back staring at us. When we asked for corporate number that's when everybody became so concerned and what the issues like I said this is not the first time I had any issues with this establishment. The managers and not really concerned about the customers or concerns. I do not recommend this place to anybody only because I see how the establishment and also how the staff treat there customers. Response to feedback: #1We have never left without paying a tab. In that case, I'm sure we wouldn't have been allowed back. We stayed there and talked to 2 managers about the mistake on the tab before ANY OF US left your facility because we frequent so much. #2 we've never threw water at each other. Water was wasted and we asked multiple people to clean it or give us napkins to do so. #3 We've never wasted drinks near your entry way because we've always finished our drinks and NEVER ATTEMPTED to take drinks out of your establishment. Not to mention, HPD sits by the door and you can't take alcoholic beverages out of your restaurant. So to say your "Management Team" had so many issues with us, WITH HOUSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT ALWAYS PRESENT IN YOUR ESTABLISHMENT while we were there, why allow us to come back EVERY WEDNESDAY? Why weren't we reprimanded by the police? My guest and I stayed to verify our receipts and everything was accounted for BY YOUR MANAGEMENT TEAM. As far as your guests, we've been approached by your guests with free drinks because they enjoyed us so much. The wasted water incident was over 2 months ago and we've been each Wednesday since. And no one from management approached us about customer complaints. So we're we really the issue? Regardless to the excuses, the waitstaff was below satisfactory. Considering one of your waitresses was the only waiter working for at least 45 minutes of our visit. You talked to one person on the waitstaff who didn't care for us from the first day we walked in. And due to her heresay, you come back with this outlandish response. Btw you gave us 24 wings and half of them are raw. The staff brought us a separate ticket after everyone in my party paid, brought change, credit cards and receipts. But you all waited til we were walking out the door with our receipts to come back with a fresh ticket. Went there with family yesterday. I ordered the spinach/garlic pizza (medium on whole wheat). I was disappointed by how little spinach there was on the pizza. You could see the scattering of spinach leaves. I certainly thought there would be way more on there, especially considering I was paying just $1-2 dollars less than pizzas that other patrons ordered that were LOADED with toppings. They changed their recipie/pizza making process to make the pies cheaper to make for the company and the quality has suffered. GREATLY. They want you to pay 21 bucks for a pizza that is worse than the 7.99 deal at pizza hut. Half the ingredients they used to use and the prices went up. If you're ever craving that super cheesy, just the right amount of greasy pizza and pasta this is the place! I got baked spaghetti and it was so good! Sometimes I come across certain types of spaghetti where the meat tastes like cardboard or something foreign. The meat they use in their meat sauce and for meatballs tastes like a legit burger that was chopped/crumbled up into ball shape! The spaghetti also came with 2 garlic breadsticks that weren't hard and were soft and super tasty. My friends got a meat lover's pizza, which was great! Just the right amount of crispy, soft, and chewy. We also got an order of friend onions and jalapenos as our appetizer that were excellent, too. Nothing was mushy and EVERYthing was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend and I have tried going to this place twice and there's always a wait so we decided to go on a weekday. We ordered a salad and a pepperoni pizza, and neither were that great. Food is great. We had a large pepperoni pizza and a large order of wings. That was enough to feed 3 very hungry people. The food was delicious and was made very fast despite how crowded it was. My only complaint is that the waiter was horrible. The whole time, he was in the bar talking to the other waitstaff. We had to raise our hand to get his attention in order to get refills. Found this place when looking for somewhere to have dinner on our visit to Houston from San Antonio. It had 4 stars on yelp so I figured we'd try it out as it was less than 5 miles from our hotel. The food was honestly really good!! We got pizza, stromboli, and chicken alfredo. The alfredo was probably the best ive ever had. We were happy with all of the food. The portions are nice and the prices are decent. They had drink specials as well for the day which was $3 frozen margaritas. The server Edwin was not the greatest. He rarely checked on us. Very far and in between did we see him. We were done eating, plates on the table and needed the check and containers and we didn't see him for at least 20 minutes as he was at the other end of the restaurant talking and we were just sitting there. The manager came by as we were getting ready to leave and asked how everything was and he was very understanding that the service wasn't great and thanked me for telling him. The only reason for 3 stars is because the service was not great and the neighborhood is a little run down but if we were ever in Houston again I would go back for the food. read more

We asked about it and the hostess said they had two lists, one for small parties and for large. Then she proceeded to sit 2 parties larger than ours. After 45minutes of waiting we spoke to the manager that never apologized just kept on defending policies that didn't apply to the situation. Located in the Old Gabbys BBQ building. The atmosphere is nice, the place clean and the help friendly. However, beware of the food. I started with a hot wings appitizer. They came back heavily breaded and bathing in some sort of nasty hot/ sour bbq sauce tasting liquid. Nothing like hot wings I expected. I litterally ate only one bite. Then i ordered an original thin crust pizza. The toppings were good. Really quite good, but the crust ruined the experience for me. Nothing better than bread dough. My boyfriend and I tried this location for the first time. Our waitress was Letty and she was awesome! She was very good at recommending menu items and made us feel very welcomed. We tried the wings as an appetizer and they were delicious! The sauce was just right and the wings were big! We also ordered the Chicken Alfredo pizza which was also delicious. It was so full of flavor and had a bunch of toppings. I ate half of the pizza by myself! My boyfriend ordered some pasta (can't remember the name) but the sauce was perfect and the serving was huge! Been going to this establishment since the 80s My mom and I personally knew Moffett unfortunately I came today tried to order the carry-out special the gentleman who took my order was rude and tried to charge me upwards of 7extra dollars just to add one more topping on the pizza saying the computer won't allow him to charge the 10.99 price....Moffett would just charge for the extra topping which was like 2$ The guys they have in here now are ridiculous and rude sorry to say but I guess I won't be coming back another Houston gem gone too bad customer service and inflation read more
