Todd and the whole crew from Acqua Pools are just terrific. Always available, truly service with a…read moresmile. We've had a pool for 20 years and we couldn't be happier with them. And their deep expertise allows them to fix problems that pop up in the most cost-effective manner possible. These guys are top flight. Steve H in Franklin Lakes.

I hired this company to do my pool opening and closing last summer, and had bad experiences with…read moreboth. First, during the opening, my filter wasn't working properly, and they assured me that I needed to buy a brand new filter from them for $3,500. I was skeptical that I needed a new one, and so I ended up opening up my filter and just washing it off myself with a hose. The result? Worked totally fine all summer long. If I had listened to their "expertise," I'd have wasted $3,500. Glad I didn't. But I decided to give them the "benefit of the doubt" and asked them to do my pool closing at the end of the season, in early September. They failed to actually attach the pool cover correctly, failed to use the actual anchors that I had left out for them in a very visible plastic bowl right near the side of the pool, and left the job with huge gaping holes for debris to fall into the pool all winter long. When I emailed them to tell them that the closing had not been completed, they acknowledged it and told me they would come back to finish. They never did. BUT, they emailed me telling me they had. Well, I have cameras in my backyard, and they definitely never came back. Besides, the pool cover remained open and the anchors were still untouched. I then received a voicemail from them actually threatening legal action (!!) against me if I didn't pay for the closing. Finally, after several more weeks, when all of the debris from the trees had an opportunity to fall into the pool already, they acknowledged that they had LIED about having come back to fix it, and asked for the chance to come back and actually finish the job. I said forget about it. It was too late by then. The debris had already fallen into the pool due to the cover not being properly put back on. So, the job wasn't done right, I was lied to, and I was threatened. But it didn't end there. Finally, after threatening legal action against me if I didn't authorize them to charge my card, and asking me in multiple emails for my authorization (which I did not give), on one random day, five months later, in late February, I noticed that they had gone forward and charged my card anyway. I had to dispute the charge through my bank. Acqua provided my bank with cherry picked out-of-context emails to try to make it look like they did everything right. Luckily, I saved all of the emails and was able to provide the bank with the full picture of what had happened. I am still shocked that they had the gall to try to charge my card five months after they had asked, and not received, authorization to do so. There are a lot of pool servicing companies out there. I would strongly suggest using a different one. Buyer beware.

Erik is a true professional at his craft. We have an annual white glove contract with Erik and we…read morehave been exceptionally pleased with the work he has done for us. He takes care of our hot tub as well as recently opened up our pool for the season. He is responsive, easy to get a hold of, takes pictures of all his work, and thoroughly explains what he is going to do before he actually does it which is very helpful to homeowners. Communications is the key to all relationships and Erik definitely meets our high expectations. Erik has come up with several creative ideas for solutions we have been looking for and we truly trust that he has our best interests at heart. We would recommend Erik and his team to anyone who is looking for a professional spa and pool manager that will take care of all of your maintenance needs. You will not be disappointed working with Erik.

I've been working with Eric for about a year and a half now, and I even have his first review to…read moreshow how our relationship started. Eric is experienced and generally knows what he's doing. His pricing is also more competitive than most. However, actually getting consistent service from him has been a challenge. Our communication has been rocky from the start, largely because Eric is extremely unorganized. He's often messy with scheduling, and there have been multiple times when we agreed on a visit to a property, and he simply didn't show up--without any notice, and with no response to calls or texts. Another major issue is his temperament. He has a short fuse, and when he believes he's right, he resorts to aggressive language and constant cursing. Even when I prove him wrong and he briefly apologizes, the same behavior returns the next day. I've continued giving Eric business out of patience and understanding for his situation. I've kept him busy and even referred multiple clients to him, which brought him more work. But the last incident was the final straw. He failed to show up at my personal home for four consecutive weeks, despite our agreement for weekly visits every Thursday. As a result, I and my guests couldn't use the pool and hot tub multiple times. He promised to come the following day (Friday), apologized, and then still didn't show up. The final time I followed up, he replied with, "No, we are clearly not coming in the rain. Seriously?" -- without even a proper notice or attempt to reschedule. This level of unreliability and disrespect is unacceptable, especially after all the work and referrals I've given him. I've been patient long enough, but I can no longer tolerate this kind of behavior.
