My brother gave me a full day spa package. Fantastic staff and service. Best lower body massage ever. Already rescheduled a second spa day. read more

WOW! Loved this place when I first saw it on Spa Finder. The atmosphere was serene and clean upon arrival. I visited Spa Space for my first Brazilian waxing. Gina, my esthetician, made it a bearable experience. I will definitely visit again for waxing and other services. read more

First time here, trying to find a nail place I could go to at lunch every couple of weeks. The staff are very nice and attentive. The manicure, unfortunately, was not. I got a no chip manicure and 5 days in several of the nails are already peeling. My nails usually last at least two weeks, so its disappointing how bad they already look. This would be a problem at any spa, but its a huge problem at a spa that charges $45 not including tip. read more

This is THE place to get a massage if you are in Chicago! I have never had any of their other services, but I am sure that they are wonderful too. Yes, the prices are a bit steep, but check out the website for seasonal specials because you can save some serious cash! Also, try out the juice bar to add a little extra spice to your day! When you are all done, shower off in the best shower ever! You will love every second of it! read more

Loved this place! I had Swedish massage with Ruth, she's fantastic! Did everything I asked for, great master of her work! And service was great! I had a warm welcome, very nice green tea, comfy robe and after my massage I enjoyed quiet in very comfy room. This is like an oasis of relaxation in a big city. Everything you need to rest. Thanks a lot! Would come back someday if I'm back to Chicago.. :) read more

Oh boy. I can't say that my pedicure experience was all that great. The space is nice enough, even if when I arrived back in the mani/pedi section I was asked by 3 different people who I was. My esthetician was nice, but I brought a book with me which I thought would be an obvious sign that I was here for a few minutes of peace in addition to the pampering. This woman wanted to talk and kept interrupting with questions about myself. Also, she inexplicably disappeared twice during the pedi for about 5-6 minutes each, thus extending the time to an hour! The pedi itself was above average, thus the 3 star rating, but I didn't get the peace and pampering I was hoping for. read more

I just started getting pedi and manis but i loved this place. The atmosphere is really nice and the people are friendly. The place itself is kinda cramped, but it is well worth it. read more

Went here for my bday again. Sam does awesome eyebrows. Got a pacific paradise body treatment. Scrub was great. Massage was ok. I brought my own play list for the treatment so that was a plus. Took a nap had some cucumber water. People complain about the dressing area but i like my body and have no problem with the locker room format. I always suggest touring any spa before choosing to cough up a couple hundred bucks. They just need soundproof rooms and I'll give them 5 stars. read more

I went here in December of 09 for the art of touch class. A guy I was dating was coming into town, I wanted to do something fun but not pay three hundred bucks for a couples massage (since this one was on me). The spa itself was really pretty. Other yelpers are right, the relaxation room is really small, but come on, what are you going to do? Spend all day in there? It didn't bother me. Really comfy robes, lots of amenities, steam shower, etc. The massage rooms were upstairs, it was dark and quiet, the room smelled SO good. I have had a lot of massages and I really liked the atmosphere of this place. I just felt cozy and warm. So the "class" began. Basically one person gets on the table, the therapist and the other person massage you. Sometimes she would do a technique first and then you copy her, and sometimes you massage at the same time. Then you switch. The therapist we had was Nikki (?), it was in December so I can't remember, but I really wish that I did because I would go back to her for a massage for sure. She was really good at the massage part and she made myself and the guy that I was with really comfortable. She was super friendly. All in all we really enjoyed the experience, but when he and I talked about it we decided that it really was just a tease. I kind of wish that I had told him what I was planning first to see if he would throw in the other half of the cash to get a regular couples massage. We decided that it was awesome when she was doing the rubbing, but not when we were trying to copy to pro. Plus, I did the class because he sucks at massage, and when he came to visit me a couple of weeks ago I got nothin'. Some people just aren't into giving, only receiving (wink* wink*). read more

While this sounds like an empty storefront for lease (spa, retail or office space....4,000 square feet?) it is, in fact, a spa. Booked three $25 mini pedis this morning. We got caught in ridiculous traffic, as Wacker was closed due to Transformers 3 filming. So we were about 15 minutes late for a 25 minute appointment. They took it really well, and were super nice. They explained they could only do a "polish change," as they were fully booked after us. They did an unbelievable job, more than a polish change and it was still worth $25. When our time was ending, the manager came by and whispered to the staff that we only had 5 mins left in our appointments, and the pedicurists gave us about 15 minutes more. Clean, cute, space with friendly staff that knows how to handle hiccups. And my toes look great. read more

It's not uber swanky, but the facials are great. The place is very clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Angie is fantastic - a good dose of professional and personable. It's also very convenient to the Loop or River North, so great for a pre-work, lunch or after-work treat. read more

I went there and took my mom as a late mothers day gift, which was a late mothers day gift. I absolutely loved The Melt with James. My mom also absolutely loved her massage by Denise. All together, it was pretty expensive, but it's made my back feel so much better! read more

Absolutely the best massage by Jennifer. She works Thursday - Sunday and I recommend her for ending a rough week or beginning a marvelous weekend. Did a 90 minute Signature Massage and Jennifer catered to my specific needs. The $135 for 90 minutes is a steal. The VERY BEST MASSAGE! read more

Surprisingly, this is a very small spa with a not-so-clean common area for women consisting of only two steam showers! They do not offer a sauna or pool or whirlpool or quiet rooms. Be prepared to wait in line to shower and feel cramped in the dressing rooms. I truly don't understand the "great" reviews for this place.. totally overrated. read more

I decided to check out Spa Space since this week is Spa Week. I went on two seperate days...one for the brazillian and the other day for there happy feet pedicure. The ladies at the front desk barely make eye contact with you. They seem to put on an air that you are intruding on their turf and it's such a chore that they have to look you up in the computer. The second day we went my friend had mistakenly thought one of the girls at the front was the one that had helped her out the previous day. My friend told her she was sorry for making the mistake and complimented her by saying she remember her therapist had really nice white and straight teeth like her...the girl at the front desk didn't even acknowledge the compliment or the apology. Also they have a way of pressuring you to tip big (even for so-so service). My friend asked for two 5's and the girl gave her a ten, then gave her a dirty look when my friend asked again for two 5's. And after I paid with my credit card, I was taking my time putting my receipt and stuff in my purse, the girl was like..."Do you need any change?" (FYI: The services where $50. So-so service we gave 10%, Good service 20%). Well it was my first time getting waxed, so I was a little nervous. Sam did a pretty good job. I didn't feel akward or embarrassed. She kept me distracted by talking to me and explaining what she was doing along the way. She recommended a product that alot of her clients use to prevent ingrowns and chafing. But there was no pressure to buy any of the products that are sold there. The second day I went in for the 75min Happy Feet Pedicure. When we got inside the mani/pedi area there was already a client getting her feet worked on. My friend got seated a minute before me. So as I was sitting there I was thinking..."Oh we'll be finished at the same time". WRONG! I was last to be seated and the first one to be done! Even the lady who probably was there for 15 minutes already was still getting worked on while I waiting for my nails to dry. All the stuff they rub on your feet felt pretty good. And they are suppose to rub your calves and feet with hot stones. Felicia basically made a passing of the stones over my lower extremities in 2 minutes. The whole time she looked bored and was trying to get out of there as fast as she can. She helped me out of the chair and then disappeared! My 75 min pedi was more like a 50 min! I ended up sitting there for like 30min waiting for my friend to get finished and allow time for her toes to dry. My friends tech, Margie (who seemed pretty cool and really worked on my friends feet), was the one that checked my toes and helped me with my shoes. Felicia obviously had gone for the night and didn't bother following up! I don't think I'll go back. It's over priced and the service is hit and miss. read more

My new favorite pre-natal massage place! And for some reason I can't recall my massage therapists name darn. Anyways, she was awesome, her draping and pillow technique made me feel very comfortable, I wanted something more relaxing and to relieve the stress and aches of pregnancy and I left feeling awesome! I also got a pedicure -- it was fine -- nothing extraordinary though. The massage therapist also new a lot about pregnancy and gave me some great advice. Loved it and I already booked my next one. *No tips on your credit card...in cash only. read more

For a downtown loop location, the spa was perfect. I walked in feeling relaxed. I had a sport pedicure done by Blanca and she worked very hard on my neglected feet. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I'm on the short side and the chairs aren't adjustable, but she did give me several pillows to prop me up. Wonderful service. read more

Getting married in 8 weeks and wanted to start the process of "getting my face" ready for the big day. Tara was wonderful. She explained everything so I understood what was going to be going on, she let me relax and didn't talk the whole time either, which to me was a nice gift to just enjoy the service. She gave me great suggestions of products to use to help rejuvenate my skin. Will definitely be back to see her!! read more

I've heard great things about this place from a few people in my peer group. I've been there twice now and I must say that although I left feeling okay from my first experience (although a couples massage just means there's a wide door open between both rooms but you're technically still in separate rooms despite paying the additional fee), the second one left me feeling that it was definitely not worth the money to come back. I was in my third trimester of pregnancy when I went in the second time, however, I did pay for a prenatal massage so I would think the masseuse was ready to handle a pregnant girl. The masseuse didn't really know what she was doing and she made it known by actually telling me and at one point it was a bit annoying. She said she wasn't good at arranging the sheets and seemed unsure of how to massage (almost as if she was afraid to touch me or maybe her first day?). I made it clear I've had an easy pregnancy and that she wasn't going to break anything (I was almost 8 months, but still very mobile/agile). It was a 90-minute massage and although I didn't feel it was worth the service, I gave her a full tip. It might just be a hit or miss. The one thing I do like is the steam/rain shower and waiting area. read more

Excellent proxies for Chicago Loop. Services are high quality. Ambiance is pretty good and the employees are attentive. Highly recommend spa space for massages and facials. read more

I'll keep it simple. I had an awesome deep tissue massage, although the masseuse totally cheated me out of 3 minutes. I only complain because it was so good and I wanted all I could get and the massages are expensive so every minute matters. I wasn't too thrilled with the eyebrow waxer I used a different time. Their changing area is nice, with all of the toiletries you need to get back to work. The only thing I dislike is their front desk staff. They always seem to busy to help when I've been in there. It's a good option in the loop but at those prices I think you can find better elsewhere. read more

I went here for my cousin's bachlorette party. We all had the Space, No Time package. This was my first time getting a massage, facial, pedicure, and manicure. When we entered we were laughing and chatting about something. The two chicks at the front desk gave us mean stares and then continued to be rude and unwelcoming while we checked in. Also when we were leaving we had problems forking over cash for tip because as mostly college students all we had was plastic. (Tip: bring cash, you are not allowed to add tip on your credit card). The staff (besides the front desk) was courteous and willing to have a conversation. After each part ended they always offered their good tasting cucumber water. The locker room was a little cramped, but very clean. Overall we had a good time. I plan on trying other spas to compare to this one... read more

I'm torn on how to review this place- I had the couples massage and it was ah-mazing (and I'm no stranger to massages). We also did the couples pedicure in the pedicure suite and that's what bummed me out. It was the worst, yet most expensive ($60!!!!) pedicure I've ever had... no massage, poor painting, and I think i definitely lost a chunk of one my toes to the clippers. Also, we paid extra to have the private suite thing which looked totally different than it did on the website (basically, instead of being next to each other, my husband and I were on opposite sides of the room and had to yell to one another just to talk... super romantic). I'll go back for massages but I'll take my neighborhood $35 mani/pedi place over them any time! read more

I was looking for a better than your basic quick manicure and saw reviews on here and gave it a shot. My weak peeling nails needed a good manicure. One of the items on the menu was the Road to Recovery manicure. Sounded like just what I needed. My expectation was that exceptional products were to be used and maybe certain procedures that would really get them in shape....NO. while the extra massage and moisture mask was nice, the manicure was just a manicure. Nails chipped in 2 days. NOT worth $50 + $10 tip= $60. A bottle of strenthener was part of the price but, didn't wow me at all. read more

After this review, Jean, the manager reached out to me to try to resolve the issues I had. Let me say, my second experience completely changed everything. The masseuse sat down with me before we started and asked me all sorts of questions on what I was looking for. I would say the massage was ok. The facial technician, Idira, was INCREDIBLE. She was soooo knowledgeable and explained everything she did and why it was helpful for my skin type. I even got a foot and hand massage while the masks had to sit on my face. My skin looked better leaving than when I went in which is rare for a good facial. Definitely an incredible facial, I would recommend it to everyone. I also did a sports pedicure for my very tired feet and noticed a huge difference, my feet (especially my heels) felt way softer. One weird thing was that the tech used an actual nail file as a pumice stone which I've never experienced before. Bianca was very very sociable and friendly, a nail tech that immediately makes you feel comfortable. So far my mani and pedi are both lasting so I'm a happy camper. I scheduled a last minute gel manicure and was impressed with how soon they were able to get me in. However, I was really disappointed with the quality of the manicure and the attitude of the manicurist. I paid $60 for a manicure with resul I'd expect to get from a cheap nail salon, not a high quality spa. The manicurist did not speak one word to me unless it was to give me short orders about the manicure itself. There was no hot towel or massage. Just the most bare minimum you'd expect from a manicure. It's been 4 days and the polish is already starting to peel and the color is even getting stained! Something I have never experienced from a gel manicure. Honestly, the manicure was probably one of the worsts I got. The only positive is that the tools were brand new and clean. Despite the bad experience with my nails I decided to schedule a massage and facial for the next day. These were a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the very serene locker room and waiting area. They had high quality robes and secure lockers. The massage room was very quiet and peaceful. My masseuse did a good job, nothing exceptional but I definitely left feeling significantly more relaxed than I came in. One thing about the massage is that I mentioned that I had stress fractures in both shins, so that area is especially tender on me. Despite this the masseuse still used strong pressure on my shins causing me to be in pain and pull my legs away during the massage. The microdermabrasion full facial was decent. The technician was very friendly but not overly talkative which is appreciated during a spa day. She was super responsive to my needs and skin issues. I was a little disappointed by the number of products that were used. One cleaner. One mask. One moisturizer. And that's it. I was hoping to learn a bit more about my skin type but I was just told to exfoliate more. Two days later and I don't really see any difference in my skin. Overall, I just don't think the quality of services is worth the price. Definitely not worth it for the nail services!!! read more

Spa Space is conveniently located downtown, west of the river and across from Ogilvie Transportation Center (Metra) - very easy for commuters to access. Although I no longer work in the area, the distance from my job was a short 5-minute walk. Booking the appointment was quite simple and I was able to schedule a date the following day. When I arrived, I was greeted with a warm reception by the lady at the front desk. The spa ihas a beautiful interior, very soft colors and quite serene, something you'd expect from a spa. I arrived a bit early and was asked to wait at the bar area which offers cucumber water and a variety of complimentary teas...I chose chamomile. I was escorted to a adjacent lounge where there was an open changing area where you can change into a spa robe and secure your belongings in a locker. There were also comfortable chairs, a sofa and magazines in the waiting area for customers to wait until their service provider arrived. My service provider escorted me to the 2nd level where there were several service rooms. Again, the space was very Zen-like, which really set the tone for my experience. The massage was pretty good, although I felt my masseuse was a bit light-handed...perhaps a bit inexperienced? Not sure. Nevertheless, any massage which causes me to fall asleep can't be all bad. Plus, she was very accommodating working all areas of the body, from the base of my head to my toes. It was just what I needed for a lunch time pick-me-up. The spa also offers spa retail products for at-home use. All in all, it was a good experience and I will return the next time I'm taking the train to the city. read more

Me and my boyfriend made an appointment here because we were looking to have our pedicures done in an intimate setting. They offer a dual pedicure so we were able to have our services done in a private room with just two pedicure chairs and we were able to byob, so we were sold! Our pedicures were amazing!!! I had the 50 minute signature pedicure and my boyfriend had the 75 minute Ped RX, which is performed by a podologist. My boyfriend loved his pedicure! His feet were unbelievably different afterwards! She removed excessive dry skin, corns etc. We were both amazed! I also really enjoyed my pedicure. I really loved their professionalism and attention to detail. Spa Space offers a pedicure experience, not just a pedicure. Although the prices are high it is well worth the experience and good work. I recommend their pedicures when you have a special occasion or would really like a thorough relaxing pedicure. read more

I've only ever had brazilians here, but if you need it - Indira is your woman. Utterly painless and quick.

I've had a few massages and a manicure, and they were all good. The best part about it, to me, is the locker room with the shower connected to the relaxation room with chilled water and hot herbal tea. The place has gotten bigger in the last few years, and it is somewhat pricey, but it's the first place I consider when I'm thinking of any spa treatment. I'm not sure if that will change with the more spas I visit, but for now, it's a thumbs up. read more

I went to Spa Space after receiving a gift certificate for them. The staff was really friendly and the place seemed very clean and well managed. My manicure and foot massage was great as well as my almond had massage and manicure. It was a great overall experience, the only reason this review is a four is that I was a little disappointed that for what the price of what the treatments where the spa was not as nice as what I thought it should be. I would still definitely go back to this spa though. read more

I was given a gift certificate for a massage at Spa Space and was very excited to use it. Unfortunately they didn't have the best staff. My actual massage was decent and the therapist focused on the areas I suggested. However their locker room was not very nice, and their steam shower was broken. On top of it, the cashier who checked me out was very grumpy and rude. And parking in the area was ridiculously difficult. The whole experience was not very relaxing, I won't be going back, and I won't be recommending this place to my friends. RC read more

In my opinion - best massages in the city! Also, DO add the indian head massage to your massage. 30 minutes of scalp massage and neck and face massage - so decadent. But be warned that you hair may be tangly afterwards. I do not have a regular massage therapist but everyone I have had is great. For waxes, go to Maxine. She is fantastic! And super sweet - I accidentally forgot about an appointment because of a crazy work day. She totally understood and did not charge for the no-show. For nails, everyone I have been to has been great but I really loved the manicure that Olga gave me last time I was in (one of those manicures with a black matte base and black shiny tip - so chic). Some things to know beforehand, there is valet available but I have actually not had much problems with finding street parking (especially just north of Lake). There is a 24 hour cancellation policy (very standard among spas and salons) but as noted above, there have been exceptions to this. And cash tips only (which is becoming the standard among spas and salons). read more

Two years ago I began working right by Spa Space, and from my first experience there, I will never go anywhere else! Spa Space is very flexible - if you call last minute wanting a manicure or pedicure, they can usually squeeze you in. Speaking of nails, I highly recommend my favorite technician, Bianca. She is wonderful - very attentive to detail, takes her time, and truly wants to make your your experience there relaxing. Pleasing her clients is her main goal. The massages I've had at Spa Space have been great, too. I highly recommend that your next spa day be at Spa Space! read more

Terrific manicure and pedicure by Deborah. Front desk staff was nice and welcoming. Waiting area was peaceful and quiet. Pedicure chairs are very comfortable with relaxing massage features. Easy to book, easy to check out. Wonderful experience; I will be back! read more

Very disappointed! Have gone here twice to get my nails done, and both times was less that pleased. The first time, the woman was very rude to me, and was discussing other clients very negatively in front of me. Very unprofessional. As for the actual manicure, I got a no chip french tip polish for an upcoming formal event. On multiple occasions she repeated that french tips were no longer in style and she was surprised that I would ask for one. Not sure why she felt the need to insult my choice to my face, once let alone multiple times. The manicure itself was alright, her lines were not as straight as I would have liked and chipped sooner than other places I go to. Definitely not what I expected considering the price. The second time, the woman I got was actually quite friendly. I enjoyed my time with her. However, the no chip manicure again chipped much quicker than normal. Was already chipping after 1 week. Typically I can go 3 weeks without chips. I really wanted this place to work, as it is the closet salon to my building, but unfortunately I will not be going back. read more

This is my second time visiting Spa Space and today I had a wonderful experience for the second time. The first time my best friend surprised me with a birthday massage and facial that was sooo great. The customer service was very good because I called and had to reschedule. I originally wanted a couples massage but I had to change the date and they didn't have the couple massage available on the day I wanted. So when I rescheduled again , I was so happy that Spa Space still reserved a couples massage in the same room for the day of. I had so many tension in my neck and the therapist got them all out. I was so relaxed after my massage. I will definitely be back again read more

Had a discount spa package bought through a third party for here. I will say that my masseuse had a great technique so I enjoyed that. However, I will list my complaints below: - The place is under construction, so it's a MESS. You would think they might keep their work more contained or do it after hours. I heard a vacuum/ShopVac right outside my massage room multiple times which was annoying - I think there was music playing through a wireless bluetooth speaker in my room. Sounds like it was running out of batteries because it made this really annoying loud chime multiple times - My masseuse's phone had an alarm that kept going off every 20-30mins (to keep him on time?). He apologized about it but never turned it off - Shower was rusty which made it all seem dirty - I was told to change and wait in the waiting area inside the locker room for my service by the SAME WOMAN who came in 30mins after my appt time to ask who I was, what I was waiting for, and then told me they had all been looking for me in the main lobby for 30 mins and couldn't find out where I was. WHAT?! I was in the exact place she told me to be. - The "exfoliating body scrub" was painful and left me with small scratches all over my back. The brush they use feels like something you would use on a horse. - Parking is a pain. Don't drive yourself. read more

Eh. Should have looked it up before we booked. Only giving two stars for the masseuse who did a good job. (Thank you DD) She was strong and very nice. This place keeps "tidy" and looks like it may be a decent place from the outside, but once you get back to the locker rooms you realize it's kinda sketchy. They need to do some SERIOUS deep cleaning. Both shower/steam rooms smelled like straight up mold. TIME TO PULL OUT THE BLEACH. There was hair and dust everywhere I turned. No music playing and in the sitting quiet room is the entrance for the employees who fly in and out with the sound of the water heater and washer and dryers going. No soothing music, NO ESSENTIAL OILS. Nothing to make me feel relaxed. The seats were uncomfortable and it just felt dirty and stunk. Once I got into the room for my massage I was even more creeped out. I felt like I was going into someone's basement. It looked like there was a camera above me but I'm not too sure if it was or not: either way it made me feel like it was so might want to work on that. They used a hair net of some sort to cover the head piece i put my face into. Doesn't seem sanitary to me. Not to mention it smelled so bad. The whole place had a bad smell to it. That one candle in the locker room isn't covering the dirty smells. Time to clean! The entire massage people were walking by talking very loud with background noise of the same washers and equipment I mentioned. She did have soothing music on, but for the price we paid which was almost $300 for my husband and I we expected a WAYYYYYY cleaner place with at least some essential oils and a comfortable relaxing room. I would never come back or even recommend this spa to anyone. Get your spot cleaned up so people can actually RELAX here. That's the point. read more

Love Spa Space! Its my "go-to" in Chicago for massages. I always have a great experience. The staff is kind and friendly. I've seen other peoples reviews of "standoffish" staff at the front desk, and while I have experienced this on occasion, its never been so offputting that I wouldnt return or would rate it crazy low as a result. The space is great, the massages are always wonderful, and the pricing is very comparable to other Chicago locations, except this place is of much higher quality than some other spas I've seen here. Definitely recommend! read more
