For what I feel are not many options for a mani/pedi in the south loop, this place is probably the best out of the selection. The environment is nice, clean, and pretty new. The staff is nice, I like how they don't seem to talk about you while youre sitting there, but make sure you call ahead and set an appointment otherwise you'll probably get turned down. They also have a pretty good rewards program and a good selection of polish colors. read more

I went here on my birthday on Oct 19, 2017 for a pedicure. I strayed from my usual nail salon because this was a straight shot and I've passed by here for years and always saw it busy. Horrible. Terrible service. Most of all, my pedicurist left my feet dry and ashy after the paint job and acted as if she didn't know what lotion or moisturizer was. Will not be going back. Out of all the salons I called in this area, they were the only ones that do the dip nails. I always get a dip manicure and pedicure and the girl on the phone said only 2 people can do the dip and to make an appointment. She insisted to be there in 15 mins. I told her I take public transportation, but I'll do my best. When I got there they said to pick a dip color. There were only 10 color choices and 80% were a shade of red. I told the girl I had the dip powder on, but no one wrapped my nails during my pedi to start getting it to come off. The tech doing the pedi was asking someone to help her out by wrapping my nails but they all ignored her. The result: a 10 min pedi and over 2 hour process of getting the old dip powder removed and new dip powder put on. They don't use any electric tools. The poor girl had to use nail files to remove the powder. If you like a basic mani or pedi this is the place for you. My search continues for a good south loop or near by nail salon. read more

The prices at this salon are pretty standard ($15 manicure), but their customer service is phenomenal! Hot towels and little neck rubs. :) All customers are automatically signed up for their "Loyalty Points" program, but they don't really publicize it. It is the one stop shop for all the pampering I need. All the staff are very friendly, a bit small but clean and organized. I never could grow my nails, it would always break and chip. SpaO definitely made my nails healthier and stronger, the tecks told me that they use a real Nail Hardener as their base coat, instead of just a regular one. And their top coat is as quick as any nail polish could dry. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to get great mani and pedi's. read more

Old fashioned techniques and lack of skills. However, prices are high like they actually know what they're doing! Customer service is subpar. Very disappointed in my service. I wanted a dip manicure which should take an hour but since they are stuck in the stone age with minimal skill level it took 2 hours of sitting there watching my nail tech struggle to do something that is fairly easy. On top of that they DO NOT use nail drills in the salon so my dip mani is bumpy and the part next to my cuticle is horrific. Save your $50 and go somewhere else. Just moved in the neighborhood so I would have been a regular customer but I wouldn't dare step foot in that place again. read more

If I could I would give them a 1.5 star. Although I live close by, this is not my regular nail spa. However, I had to go somewhere within walking distance and decided to try out Spa O. I had a no chip manicure and just wanted a regular manicure so I figured it couldn't be that bad. Pros: The service is good. My technician was very polite and helpful. I came in close to the end of the day after their last appointment and they took me anyways which I appreciated. Cons: It's way too expensive. I had a no chip manicure that I did not receive there and they charged me $10!!! I've never seen that before. They also did not wait long enough to take my no chip polish off and started taking my actual nail off with my polish in the middle of my thumb. Now my nail is broken and I have to wait until it grows long enough to cut it off and start all over again. Fortunately I stopped them before they completely ripped my nail off, but the fact that they didn't even apologize and still charged me $25 for a broken nail and a basic manicure was pretty ridiculous to me. Just okay. I don't care for nail salons that charge you to remove your no chip manicure, when you are going to be getting a regular manicure. The catch is that if you had the no chip done at their salon then there's no charge. If I wasn't going to get any service done then I would understand, but otherwise I think that's poor business practice. I normally am not the type of person to ever leave a negative review. I received a pedicure and no chip manicure. I don't mind paying a pretty penny for great service and quality work in a nail salon as my mom is a nail tech so I know what to expect. You pay for what you get. But my pedicure felt rushed (less than 15 minutes) with no foot scrub and no massage whatsoever. Still have cracks and callouses visible. On top of that the polish on my big toes are streaky. For my no chip manicure I picked a light pastel blue which clearly requires three coats of polish. Nail technician tried to put the top coat on after two when there were clear and obvious streaks through the polish. I had to request the third coat of polish. Also a 10 dollar soak off charge. This place is completely over priced for sub par work. read more

I give this place a solid four stars. First, they are very clean- they put a plastic liner into the pedicure basins and open a new pack of file/buffer before each client. Polish selection is great with OPI, Essie, CND, etc. Prices are comparable to other south loop nail places with better result. I think with any nail salon, there may be variability based on who does your nails, but I have had mostly very good experiences here. read more

When it comes to mani/pedi and no chip mani Spa O is da bomb...and my to-go spot. And no only because I live 2 blocks away. The place is spacious and bright and very very clean. The service is amazing - I love Daria she does the best job at no chip manis! The price for no chip is decent not the best ($45). I think it's worth it. I really enjoy going there. I've also seen several bachelorette/bridal shower get togethers there and it's super cute - it's the right space for that kind of thing. I'd definitely highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good mani/pedi spot (not cheap/conveyor type of establishment) :) read more

Went for late afternoon mani-pedis with a gal pal. We showed up without appointments and were fit in immediately. Standard pedi. I'm not really happy with the shape of my tootsie nails, but the polish job is fine. The no chip mani turned out dull and crackly, so I am not really happy with the final product. They are also overpriced, but the service is really good, so star redeemed. I don't think I would go back, though. read more

now my preferred nail salon. as a south looper, there are a few options. but, this is within walking distance and it has a great $40 mani/pedi special Monday-Wednesday before 2. had a GREAT massage at the pedi bowl. really like the lemon nail soak during the mani. all of the technicians are friendly. nice color selection. most importantly, manicures last at least a week. only cons are that it's a little tight in there and you can't include your gratuity with your credit card payment, so bring cash. read more

I liked this salon because it's so close to my place. I went in on a Friday at 4pm and sat right away. Both the pedicure and manicure were good, but nothing outstanding. The polish stayed for 2 weeks on my nails and well over a month on my toes. Since it was cold, they wrapped my feet in plastic so I could walk home. I don't know if this is customary in Chicago since this was my first pedicure since moving here, but I really liked that attention to detail. Prices were spot on with the other salons. I am looking for a regular place, and Spa O earned a spot on the short list. read more

Spa O was a great experience for me! I've gone three times so far and have done a no chip manicure, regular manicure, and have done a pedicure. I love the massage chairs they use when you're getting your pedicure. I literally passed out because it was so relaxing. The no chip really did last over 2 weeks for me and only started peeling off when my nails had grown out. The lady at the front desk is so nice and tries to make you feel welcome. So I have tried this place 3 times now - can't say I did not give them the benefit of the doubt. The first time was a few years ago but they were just awful and rushed through it all so I didn't go back. Then based on strong recommendations from a friend I decided to try them again in March 2018. The person I had was not friendly but its not surprising in these salons. But I expected good service on my mani/ pedi combo. It was ok till it came time for the free back massage that comes with all manicures. I looked around and all the others were giving their clients a good 5 minute massage. This woman gave me a 20 second one. When I complained to the front desk I got another 30 second one. She did not even try to care. I saw this lady Bee really take care of her clients and was so friendly with them so I asked for her the next time to give it one final try (maybe I just needed a regular person like her). So a half hour before the appointment a month later I am asked if I can start 30 mins late as another client extended her service. I don't know why that was an option considering if someone wanted sudden services they need to wait. I was not in a hurry so I said I was fine with it. I get there and Bee has the most sulky expression and did not engage or talk at all; she rushed through the whole pedicure in no time and when I asked her why my calluses were not properly scrapped with a pumice stone, she said she did a lot and that I just need to come more often and did not bother to do anything. Suffice to say she did not get a good tip. I don't know if they are being racist because I am brown but this is just appalling service. How do people keep going there? Apparently they are expanding into a new building in a year or two. That is such a joke. I know I never will go back. read more

Went to this place to get an set of acrylic nails and paid $60!! Nails started falling off the next day and when I called the Salon I never got a call back or even email. The woman who did my nails spent more time on her phone and would take calls while I waited for her to come back. Please avoid this pace and save your money from being stolen. read more

Perfection!! They are a little pricey but totally worth the money! My nails are awesome, they sure know how to do the work. I had recently had a very disappointment experience with a non chip manicure at a cheaper place downtown and swore never going for cheap bad places again. Plus I called the manager because I was several minutes late for my appointment and they were able to accommodate me with no problem and they were busy! I didn't want to travel too far for a much needed/long overdue mani & pedi. Mind you, my tootsies haven't been pampered in about 2 mths. I walked in, no appt. (Sat) so I waited about 15-20 mins which was fine w/o having an appt. I was done with both in literally less than an hour WTF. My usual gal in the Gold Coast costs $30 more and my mani/pedi combo takes 1hr (pedi) 45mins (mani) and YES!!! you can definitely feel, see, totally notice the difference. While in the pedi chair I noticed my tech turn and look at the other male there (mgr?) and the "mgr shook his head "NO". Were they referring to the cuticles on my feet? bcuz the tech barely snipped a thing. After 2 mths of no pedis, trust me my feet needed more than just a scrub and massage. I was pissed! Then off to get my manicure which was also much to be desired. After the polish dried you could see where spots were missed (which were many) and every nail showed the mishaps. I cannot stand when my top coat is not applied evenly. It is inexcusable and tells me that the tech doesn't really care or pay attention. No one should ever be done with a mani/pedi combo in less than an hour and my services were not anywhere near worth the $45 I spent. It pained me to even tip but I didn't want to be "that girl" The fact that I will never return nor recommend them is unfortunate enough. I will continue to shlepp to the Gold Coast to get the level of service that I pay for!!! read more

I just got back from Spa O and had a fantastic experience. First off I changed my appointment from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm and the lady I spoke to on the phone was very nice and accommodating. I did get there early 15 minutes early as I always do with appointments and they were able to take me right away. The salon was small but clean and very organized. The girl who did my mani & pedi was very attentive and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. She also did a great job on my nails. The service was fantastic, quick and very reasonable. Live close to this place. Always drive by and think "I should go there one time." Glad I finely made my way inside. The look and feel of the nail salon is high class - clean, tasteful, modern and yet, serene. Had a pedicure by Luna. She is an incredible technician. Very meticulous - didn't rush through the service like most technicians do at other salons.
