Friendly but it's a crappy manicure. Pictures are taken 18 hours after the manicure. The top coat doesn't cover the color so there are visible lines. The color is applied unevenly. The tech was a guy. I'd avoid him, though I won't go back. I went once a few years ago and had a terrible experience with the manager. Swung by this place to get mani pedi. We had a prior appointment that we had to reschedule. Upon entering, one of the attendants came to speak to us. Upon mentioning that we have an appointment, she declined that we had an appointment. I kept her informed that I had spoken the day prior to reschedule and even had to show my phone records as proof. She refused to accept that the mistake was on their end and that they forgot to put our appointment on the calendar. She even started complaining about the type of appointment we had and said that she can't squeeze us in for a pedi as they were closing in 1 hour. She was very unfriendly and lacked any customer service behavior whatsoever. Please steer clear of this place. The lack of professionalism is astonishing. read more

My friend and I had a terrible experience at Red Nail Salon. We had an appointment booked however the technician (Linda) said she cannot find the appointment and just refused to understand the situation or accept that it may have been an error from their side. My friend had earlier booked an appointment for Saturday afternoon for 2 however we gave them a call ahead of time and asked to reschedule our appointment to Sunday due to conflicts. On the call, the attendant ensured us that the appointment is booked for Sunday, however clearly there was a miss from their side. Linda said they can still accept walk-ins for gel nails or manicure however it's too late for pedicure and they won't accept as it is a walk-in. That definitely threw us off as clearly it wasn't a walk-in. My friend and I traveled all the way to South Loop because we had booked an appointment prior. I came in today to remove the no chip polish from my toes and get a plain manicure on my nails with no nail polish. While removing the no chip polish from my toes, the lady kept losing control of the electric nail drill and hitting my skin. She even accidentally chipped my big toe nail with the electric drill and later had to file it down to make it look even. Because of this, she had to cut and file all my toes to be super short to match the toe she chipped. I wasn't planning on cutting or filing them but it had to be done to fix the chip. I just wanted to remove the old polish. For my manicure, all I wanted was for her to neatly cut my cuticles and file my nails in an oval shape, no nail polish. She ended up shaping my nails in a wide square shape and some of my cuticles look worse than before I came in. She filed the nails so close to the nail bed and when she was cutting my thumb nail I was scared she was going to cut my skin. She didn't seem confident in her work and I'm really unhappy with the final result. I still tipped her for her time and effort but regret it. Paid $40 total. read more

Went in with a friend for a pedicure and I literally left with nothing. A woman called while the owner was in the middle of my fiends pedicure. As I'm STILL sitting in cold water the woman walks in and gets her pedicure done. So basically screw me I'm not important enough. I dried my feet off and left. No apology given. Preface this by saying the women are lovely, take their time and the nails rarely chip. The man is awful, defensive, rough and has gotten into multiple arguments with customers who've complained. He's done my toes and all but 2 of them are bloody around the nails. I literally have bandaids on all of my toes to prevent infections. When I complained, he said "your skin is very thick".... The biggest issue is my nail health. After this last visit where I got my gel polish removed, my nails hurt to TOUCH. I took a shower and the water drops were PAINFUL on my toenails due to how thin they were. I got a gel pedicure and manicure for background (I told the male manager my nails were thin and he advised gel every now and then would be fine). My nails have NEVER been this bad before and I've had to schedule a doctor's appointment for next week because I'm truly concerned and in pain everyday. Every time my nail brushes against anything, it's instant pain. I had to stop myself from crying when they were filing my nails. I truly believe something is wrong with their gel polish or process because my nails have never been this sensitive. Toenails are usually strong after gel pedicure but one has turned yellow after removing the gel. I just wanted to warn everyone because I'm truly scared for their customers. read more

Wow! Just wow! I am so happy I found this place. I've been in the south loop for 5 years. And I could not find a salon that did nail extensions. I had to go further south or deeper downtown. Not anymore. Linda is an artist! She explained everything she was doing, at every step. She was quick but detailed. I was a walk in and I was in and out in an hour. I got a full set. Natural ombré, First time NO ACRYLIC. All gel. I got my big toes re polished for an event. This full set is the best they've ever looked. From the shape and structure, to the color. Even my big toe was super square like I like it, even though they were chipped and had to be cut down. I've found my new nail home and my new nail tech. I have been getting pedicures for ever. So I have high standards and a strong option of what I want. I want someone who is going to going to get ride of the dead skin and hangnails not just change the nail polish. I love this salon. They always make me feel special. Even through the pandemic they stayed open and always fit me in. Jay is the absolute best. He always remembers me and makes sure I am taken care of. He isn't afraid to get all the dead skin off my feet either. This was my second visit, and while they do good work, the staff is rude and unprofessional. I made an appointment the day before, but when I arrived, they kept questioning if I actually had one--even showing me an old appointment on their iPad instead of listening. My feet were already soaking, so I told her if they didn't have time for me I'd go elsewhere, keep in mind this was 10am and they only had one other client at the time. Eventually, someone did my pedicure and manicure, but she was rude and dismissive the entire time. I wasn't even offered a bottle of water--yet I watched the women next to me get asked if she'd like a drink after only coming in for a manicure. When I mentioned that I hadn't been offered anything, she ignored me completely. After my nails were done I was left sitting for 20 minutes with no update. I finally had to get up to ask to check out--only to find the nail tech giving another client an eyebrow wax. Altogether, over two hours of my time was wasted here. I spent over 100 and was treated like an inconvenience. In a city like Chicago where there's a nail salon on every corner, do yourself a favor and skip this one!!! read more

It's a pretty good salon but I mostly use it because it's so convenient. I've gotten two no-chip manicures, a deluxe pedicure, and a regular pedicure. The no-chip manis are ok, they last about 3 weeks. The pedicures are fine, but I didn't see a huge difference with their deluxe option aside from a different lotion they used. I booked an appointment for June 15th at 6:30 for a spa pedicure and a soak off. I arrive for my appointment on time, get into the chair to begin my spa pedicure service and the nail tech, Moni, informs me that she can't do the spa pedicure because they close at 7. She continues on saying that she's going to give me a regular pedicure with no-chip polish, and it would be better if I came back tomorrow to get the soak off service. Why let me make an appointment if you all knew that you close at 7 o'clock and could not accommodate my services request?! This is the second time in a row that I've had a negative experience at the Red Nail Spa. There won't be a third because I refuse to return to this salon. To add insult to injury, as I stated in the paragraph above, this is my second time in a row receiving terrible service here. Back on May 17th I went to the salon to get the gel-x service and a spa pedicure. Unbeknownst to me her first customer of the day was late, and therefore Moni was late with my appointment. I didn't give her a hard time because I understand things happen, customers run late sometimes. However, I was her very next customer and she rushed my services. The spa pedicure was fine, but the gel service was absolutely terrible. Moni rushed the entire process and severely cut the cuticles on both of my pinky fingers during my service. It was so bad that my hands were sore for a week. It took an entire week for my fingers to heal. I came to the salon yesterday because I figured the situation in May was a one-off occurrence, as I had never had any negative experiences with Moni before. However, during my regular pedicure service (that was supposed to be a spa pedicure) Moni looked at my hands and proceeded to crack a joke about how terrible of a job she did on my nails back in May. Why is this funny?! So you knew during the time of my nail service that you were doing a terrible job, but you didn't care you were rushing and expected me to just deal with it. I came back to Red Nail Spa after a two year hiatus where I left due to a bad experience. I have been a loyal customer of Moni's for about six or seven months now, but that will no longer be the case, as I will never step foot in Red Nail Spa ever again. I debated for a long time if I should even leave a negative review for this business, but I am sick and tired of these nail techs and salon owners thinking that they can give customers a less than ideal experience, often times downright terrible experience, and expect us customers to keep returning and patronizing their business. It is extremely frustrating to have these experiences, especially back to back, when I'm typically spending $175 for my services plus tip. read more

I'm pretty simple when it comes to getting my nails done. I cane into this salon with a couple girlfriends. I did a classic pedicure which was $35. Only a couple nail technicians in the salon. I had the woman who was really nice, took her time on my toes, and was so detailed to ensure my pedicure looked great - and it did! I did an impromptu eyebrow wax done by the same lady. She did such a great job! Eyebrow waxing was $12. Payment was done through Venmo which I was a little confused about, but I guess that's what all the young kids are doing these days! I also loved that this place was BYOB so grab your favorite drink and a couple girlfriends! Would recommend this place if you're in the south loop. Had a visit today at Red Nail Salon for a gel pedicure and manicure for my man. Love the outcome of my pedicure but the nail tech was scraping the bottom of my skin until it was raw. He was very aggressive - tossing my foot back and forth with cold water. I asked him to stop because it started to hurt and sting. Hours later, my feet started to burn and I took off my sock to find scratches on the bottom sole of my right foot. In addition, we were not greeted when we entered. Granted we did call prior but we were not warmly welcomed. In addition, they continued to work on another woman - manicure & pedicure and offered her "free" wine and didn't offer us anything. I thought it was only me until my partner stated that the nail tech was harsh with his nails and failed to remove all dead skin. Both techs were rushing for this one woman in there. I normally go to VIP Nails but they didn't have availability at the time I wanted to go, and this salon is right around the corner from me. I'm so glad I came here today instead! Jay noticed how thick my dip manicure was done before and asked if that's how I like it. I definitely prefer it thin and told him that. I also prefer my almond shape nails to be pretty pointed, and my last manicurist failed to do this as well, so he assured me my dip would be thinner and pointed. He absolutely delivered as you can see from the pictures. Ahmi gave me the best pedicure of my life! I really mean it her massage was extremely thorough. Usually they focus on massaging your calves but she really got into the balls of my feet and heels. For someone who's been running outside every day because we haven't had access to gyms, this felt like heaven! The polish itself was also extremely clean. Please save your money! I went here earlier today off of a recommendation from a co-worker. I really wish I didn't. I asked for a no chip mani and from the moment I sat down I knew it wasn't going to be good. I had to ask the nail tech twice not to use the electric file to remove my previous no chip. I literally sat there in shock as she filed through layers of my nail causing damage (and then telling me that was the polish that cracked off and not an actually layer of my nail... when it was obviously my nail). She then went on to damage another one of my nails. Even after she switched to an acetone removal per my request she continued to take out the file to remove the rest of the old no chip after soaking). The whole mani was rushed. I left there with a sloppy manicure, messed up cuticles, and a lot of paint on my fingers. If you want a rushed and sloppy manicure that you could've done yourself by someone who could care less about the health of your nails...this is your place. If you're looking for a quality mani or pedi don't waste your time or money. I would not recommend this place to anyone!! read more

Here's why: as a first time customer I called in advance and I made an appointment for 10am the next day - mani/pedi + eyebrow wax 1) they didn't show up to open the shop til after 10 2) I sat with my feet in water in the pedicure chair for 20 min before anyone started on me 3) I was told "wax girl is not coming today" 4) I was not given any colors to choose from prior to sitting down, so when time came to paint it took extra long to get the color to match the dip manicure color I chose 5) when time came for my manicure the manager tried to convince me to get gel when I specifically asked for dip (I didn't leave there til after 12pm) 6) although he offered me a 2 week no chip guarantee, I had a nail chip 2 days later 7) I went back to get 1 nail fixed and that took 45 min - I was also asked to leave a positive review and he ASKED TO SEE MY PHONE The manager is quite emotional and lets customers or outside circumstances upset him easily. During my manicure he was arguing with his landlord on the phone the whole time. When I came back for the nail repair he was super upset because the lady before me had left a poor review. They greeted me with so much warmth, and even offered to upgrade my service to their special rate of the day. I went in for a classic manicure and spa pedicure and received their deluxe spa pedicure which includes a paraffin treatment, sea salt mask, sugar salt scrub, hot stone massage, and nail treatments. The deluxe plus my manicure was only $65! My chair was extremely comfortable and came equipped with a variety of deep tissue and relaxation massage settings. Oh and did I mention wine is also available upon request. My phenomenal manicurist Jessica was super sweet, conversational, gentle, and did such a great job with my treatments. She would regularly check in with me to ensure that the water wasn't too hot and that I was overall comfortable. When realizing I was approaching my deadline to leave for another appointment, she informed J, who didn't hesitate to work on my manicure while she finished my pedicure.
