Came here for a pedicure before leaving for vacation. I'm one of those people that likes the water EXTRA hot. I asked for hot water twice, and got cold/warm water. That was already disappointing. The maintenance of cleaning my toes, etc was average. The main reason for a terrible review is my polish chipped not even an hour later. I went back the next day to get it fixed to only have it be chipped again. Now I'm on vacation and have to go out of my way and get it fixed. I get pedicures regularly and I've never had a problem with my polish chipping within the first day. It'd be different if it was a week later, but that's not the case. Honestly so disappointed since this place is close to where I live, but looks like I'll have to go out of my way for better service. Feel like a broken record but like most people on here said, very rude owner. She will get upset with you for being late (rightfully so) then make you wait 20 minutes past your scheduled time. She also called my mother and I right when we left asking to tip more and sad we are constantly bad tippers ... I didn't know tipping over 20% was bad? We also were a couple bucks off because she had multiple people work on us making it confusing on how to tip... It was like she wanted us to give 20% of the WHOLE total to all four people. it was ridiculous. also i'm all for good tipping and tipping well but at the end of the day you can't make someone tip you or harass them to give more especially when you are rude, make the customer feel in pain during services, and make them wait way past the scheduled appointment. I live near this Salon and decided to stop in a couple months ago when heading home from the Grocery Store...BEST. DECISION. EVER. This is by far my favorite nail salon in the West Loop. I have always gotten a regular pedicure and a no-chip manicure. Pedicure-- Very clean and lots of colors to choose from. It usually lasts a few weeks without chipping but I end up taking it off myself or going back because my toenails grow out. No hot stones but overall a very good experience for what you pay for. Manicure (no-chip)-- Best I have ever had in Chicago!! My nails havent chipped a single time! I went back 3 weeks later (THREE WEEKS!!!!) and had them take off the polish..only because my nail bed had grown out too much. The manicure is great and they will spend as much (or as little) time that you need! I would highly recommend getting your nails done here. This is still my go to place b/c it's clean, decent prices and a stone's throw from my place, but I've found that who does your nails will determine how happy you end up. A few months ago when I went, I had a newer technician and she really didn't know what she was doing. She put nail polish all the way on top of my cuticles, which needless to say, looked horrible. I have been back a few times since then and have not seen that technician, so I'm thinking she may not work there anymore. I'm usually happy with the end result, but the last time I went the tech clipped my nails and then filed them not even remotely straight or even. I know I should have said something, but I was really just annoyed and didn't feel like having her redo them all. I don't typically write reviews, but I'm making an exception for the poor service I received here. I had hoped to visit Nail Spa nearby, but it was full so I ended up making reservations here with a friend of mine. We both opted for a regular pedicure service, which I've had hundreds of times at other shops. My friend was seen first, and I started five minutes later. As it should, the service consisted of two parts: first, prep/care and second, the actual coloring. My technician, Emma, rushed through the prep/care and finished the coloring before my friend's prep/care had even concluded (and remember, she started five minutes before me, too). No one else was in the shop, so there was no pressure to finish early. When I was finished, the owner asked me how it went. I shared that I thought the prep/care was rushed and explained why. The owner didn't listen and instead made excuses, dismissing my concern immediately, saying I could have paid extra if I wanted more care. She asked me condescendingly if I even knew anything about nails. She dismissed that my friend received a considerably more thorough treatment, saying it was because she was getting a different color - but the color paint you get should not of course have any bearing on the prep/care. And at the end of it all, the job on my nails was mediocre at best. I will not be returning; I'll rather wait for availability at the other salon. read more

Buckle up because you're in for a ride. Usually, I go to Top Coat nails (amazing place), but my friend and I tried finding a place in the west loop so we didn't need to go as far. When we walked in, the lady said "you're late", rolled her eyes and said to go wash our hands. We arrived 2 minutes late. Our bad. I had dip polish on my nails and she needed to get them off. She used the drill, which is totally normal. However, she kept hurting me and saying I was too sensitive. I told her that I've never had this problem before. So she has them soak and later turns the drill back on to do more and hurts me again and breaks a couple nails in the process. Literally never had a problem with a drill before. NOW HERE IS THE KICKER!!! She tells me, and I quote, "I'm going to finish taking these off and then you should go back to the other salon. Obviously your nails are too sensitive." So she does a horrible job taking them off and broke 2 nails in the process. Then asked me to pay $10 for the removal. I asked if she was the owner and she said no. ONLY TO FIND OUT SHE IS INDEED THE OWNER AND HER OWN STAFF IS SCARED OF HER! (I know this because a staff member doing my friend's nails said "she is mean" and then quieted down as the lady was looking at us). EVEN THE STAFF DOESN'T LIKE IT HERE! I had the most bizarre experience here with who I was told is the owner? I get no-chips every 2 weeks for over 10 years...I don't expect 5-star service from these places but if you're going to charge more than anyone else at least play nice. I came in on a weekday afternoon to meet a friend who is a regular (re-evaluating my friendship haha) and we were the only 2 in there. The owner was insanely rude out of the gate and for no reason. Between pissy responses to friendly chatter ("oh my polish looks kind of like what you have on!" "It's NOT the same color." Or (*sees several nail art examples in the color tiles* "oh you do nail art?! "No." "......."), combative attitude to politely stated simple requests (all nails be the same length??) I could not have been more uncomfortable. She was bending my fingers to get the sides of the nail and she was twisting my knuckles so I rolled my hand to the side so it wouldn't hurt and she scolded me and then scolded me for not speaking up that it was hurting me. I wanted to pay for the polish removal and leave without having to finish the manicure. She's $10 more than anywhere else ($45 for a no chip before tip) with a crazy rude personality. This place is a total rip off. I went and strayed from my normal salon due to the convenient location but I will never be back. As others have mentioned below the woman answering the phone and who did my nails is very rude. I went in for a dip manicure and a pedicure. The pedicure was rushed, barely any massage. As for the dip manicure it was a disaster. First of all the brush she was using had remnants of red dip powder on it, I had chosen a color that was a light white grey. As you can see this would be a problem, making the color a weird streaky pink color. I had mentioned during my appointment that the nails looked red/pink and the nail tech replied acknowledging that her brush had red powder on it but really didn't do anything to repair the issue as I believe the nails were already too far along in the process and would need to be completely redone. I walked out of the salon paying $140 tip included. This is because I did also get my eyebrows and lip waxed. None the less, not a inexpensive bill. I leave the salon and when I get outside I am even more disappointed in the color in the different lighting and the dip manicure job itself. I was willing to let it go but that very night I noticed every single one of my nails were cracking, like shattered glass. I called the next morning explaining the issue and just asked if I could come back in and get a gel mani instead and the lady who answered the phone was extremely rude, saying it was my fault and I must have done something to make them that way. She said this never happens with dip so it must be my fault. She also said that if she did a gel mani the best she could do is give me a discount. I go in and have her take off the dip , which was done poorly to begin with and I reminded her of that. And they still were not willing to at least redo my nails for free. I ended up having the terrible dip job soaked off and then did take her up on the discounted gel mani because I needed my nails done for an event. All in all I have given $165 to this place and I will never be back. To blame your customer for your mistakes and to not at least fix the issue free of charge is unbelievable to me. I will never be back. Save your money and go to Belle Spa nails in Gold Coast. Customer service is everything. read more

To address some of the criticisms that other reviewers have noted: The door is locked because they and their customers were robbed at gunpoint a couple of years ago. It'll not 'creepy', it's for everyone's protection. Many places in NYC have the same thing. It's unfortunately part of being in a city. Yes, the quality of the work does depend on the tech you get. If you find someone you like, ask for her. There's some turnover in staff, but not as much as some places. If you don't like what the tech is doing, speak up. The owner is far from disagreeable. She runs an efficient business and staffs accordingly. That's why appointments are appreciated. Staffing a business based on walk-in traffic is not economical, especially in a high rent district like the West Loop. I find the quality of the work exceptional. The techs will accommodate most any request (and you should tip accordingly). As others have noted, this is not a place with a bachelorette party vibe. It's peaceful and neighborly. I used to go here all the time before COVID, and just recently went again for the first time in a while. I called to book an appointment and spoke to someone right away. When I arrived they were running behind and apologized and gave me a free upgrade. I felt very safe and they kept the place very clean. Just came to update that I've now come countless more times and have been able to try their gel services. Still completely faultless and perfect. Also a lady came in with a new born baby and it slept like an angel the whole way through her services and when it stirred a tiny bit, one of the technicians rocked the stroller back and forth for it to settle back to sleep. I'm not sure what the low ratings are about or why Yelp displays all of these ratings so that the low ones appear first, out of chronological order. Kind of shady, Yelp. As for the salon, I have been going here for four or more years and love it. They are consistent, professional, affordable, and super clean. What I love is how thoroughly they work, but that I am still in and out of the salon in just over an hour for a pedicure and no chip manicure. My only suggestion? Make an appointment. I never walk in because they are busy and the West Loop is only getting more crowded, making it worse. Call ahead and they will tell you if it's a good or bad time to come. read more

Excellent Nail Salon in the heart of the west loop! This chic salon has been around since the boom of the west loop yet still delivers top notch service in a clean boutique space! They offer all nail services from no chip, spa pedicures, nail polish change, and special designs. Estheticians services also include eyebrow and other body waxing. I luv the space, it's so inviting and modern and clean. They use both Essie and OPI polish. There are about 6 spa chairs and 6 manicure stations. This place jas a steady clientele so making an appointment is recommended. The staff is friendly and accommodate special requests! Prices are very competitive for the west loop. I enjoy that they use a scrub for your legs when you choose a pedicure and also do a quick shoulder massage when you get a manicure and dry your nails. This truly is one of the better nail salons in the west loop. There is free parking on Monroe but your competing with WL residents. 2 thumbs up and highly recommend this spot! read more

I'm sitting in the shop now allowing my toes to dry as I write this. Initially, I came in here for a pedicure + no-chip mani, however, I'm leaving after my toes dry. I waled in had a seat, and the woman at the first booth asked me if I had an appointment. I said that I did not. She seemed to have an attitude about this, so if you go here you might want to be sure to set one. She said she'd be with me in a moment. After sitting there a few minutes she got up, came over and said something to me. I had my headphones in so I didn't hear her the first time, but he second time I clearly heard the impatience in her voice. She was barking, I mean asking for my phone number. I stood up to give it to her as well as my name. I was turned off here, and intuition is key. I should have just left then. I stayed. Got a pedicure that was mediocre at best. The nail tech gave all of the smiles in the world but her touch was rough although she did seem to calm down towards the end. Not much buffing of the feet. She wiped on a moisturizing exfoliant and didn't scrub it at all, feet went straight in the water after. I asked her if this is what they usually did (add the exfoliant) and she let me know that it was included and wasn't extra, whoch Inwas happy about because she didn't do anything with it anyway. Cuticle removal was so-so. I still have dry skin around my big toes and my left one has a hang nail that wasn't completely buffed smooth. Paint job is decent, not great. She did ask me a few times if things were ok because I was straight grilling her. She filed thee shit outta my toes, and not evenly. I have some wax on my heels. I'm not sure if they will take this off or if I will? I'm drying my toes at the dryer now. The nail tech did offer me a neck massage. No thank you. Not because I didn't want one, because I need one, but because I'm not about to play this game like I'm having a great experience. When I got up here the sassy lady who warmly welcomed me in cane to the front and said "What's your name again?" So I told her. And she confirmed that I did not want a no-chip. Confirmed! This could be a beautiful salon. I'm not sure if things are going on between employees in here or if there is bad management or what, but it feels like a gloomy cloud is hanging up in here.
