Their no-chips always last me 3 weeks - looking perfect except for the expected outgrowth at the cuticle. Everywhere else, my no-chips start peeling or chipping at 2 weeks. The color selection is good for both regular and no-chip polishes. The staff is cordial and let's me just relax while not trying to make chit chat with me (I hate that! I received a mani pedi. Pedi was mediocre- seems as if my pedi woman was an inexperienced individual- didn't give a good foot exfoliation and was unsure if she knew how to do a french manicure. Do not bother coming here. Their quality used to be good (I had been coming here for years - NEVER again) !! It really has taken a turn for the worst. I got a no-chip manicure and pedicure from here and it started PEELING off just 6 DAYS later. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere where they know what they're doing, they care about their work, they pay close attention to detail and where they do not use inferior products. I am a big fan of any place that does a mini massage as you're nails are drying! My nails are beautiful and I was impressed with the hand massage and the back massage she gave. At $15 I will definitely go back. It was really hot when I walked in and they were gracious enough to put on the air. The decor was nice and modern. I'm shocked to see so many low reviews for this Salon! I've experimented with so many nail salons it makes my head spin, but none of them have ever come close to the quality and precision I've experienced at Lacquer. I work in the West Loop so it's easy for me to run over and get a mani/pedi during the work week, but I would still choose to go there all the way from my place in Old Town because they're THAT GOOD. I usually get a no-chip manicure that always lasts me at least 3 weeks, and every technician is incredibly diligent about cleaning up all the lines and sides so it looks flawless-this is something that always bothers me at other salons that rush through each customer just to get to the next. They take their time (both on your nails and with the lotion and hand massage) and ensure quality over everything else. They even give you a shoulder massage while your nails/toes dry and the services they offer for their regular pedicure are unlike any I've seen at other salons. They are busy on the weekends especially so ya probably smart to get an appointment, but I've definitely been able to walk in before with no issues. I was pretty unimpressed with my no chip mani. The gal was nice, but cut my nails much shorter than I asked for. My thumbs also turned out rather funny-they color is very uneven. Disappointing. I guess every time I go to Nail Lacquer I luck out because I get the most amazing manis/pedis! I wanted to get my girlfriend a pedicure nearby her home; and YELP had this one rated as a 5; so I took the chance. On a Monday at 7:00pm, the place was empty except for my GF and I. The price was reasonable ($40 for a spa pedicure and $33 for a regular pedicure). I got my girlfriend the spa one; and she wanted company so I stayed for a regular pedicure too (my first and possibly last one ha ha). The staff seemed friendly enough; but spoke to one another only in some non-English language. My toenails were not long; but she cut them ultra short; in fact one of them has been quite sore since leaving the salon four hours ago. The salon chairs give an awesome massage. My GF's chair stopped and she was obviously having a difficult time getting it working; no one offered her help until I spoke up. After that, she loved her time in the chair. Later at her place, she commented how her feet were rough; and the bottoms were as rough as a cat's tongue. I asked her just now to go back and ask for more work, but she doesn't want too and is self conscious about it. As nice as the salon folks were, I'm not satisfied with the experience. read more

Love this place! No matter who does your mani/pedi you will leave happy. The salon is CLEAN. You will never see a dirty nail station or wonder if the tools the nail professionals are using are clean. They grab a fresh, sterilized set for each customer. They also clean the pedi tubs immediately upon finishing a service. You won't be disappointed here! read more

When I walked over and asked if they could redo the gel nails that were chipped they said they'd have to charge me a soak-off fee. I've had no-chip manicures that literally did not chip for 1.5 months until I took the polish off myself. I have a punch-card here and spend $100 every time I go, and after that - bad manicure and bad service about it - I will never go back. Way to lose a loyal customer! read more

LOVED IT! Just came back from Nail Lacquer Salon and was very pleased. They were super-friendly and very attentive. All I asked for was a polish change, but this was no ordinary polish change, this was more like an express manicure. They filed, buffed, pushed back the cuticles, cut the cuticles, and applied the polish flawlessly. Clean, bright, cheery, great polish choices and VERY reasonable. Best of all, the owner had NO IDEA that she had been previously Yelped! When she asked how I found her, I replied, OBVI...Yelp! I helped her navigate to the site. I don't know what magic top coat they use or what the heck they do right but my manicures last forever from Lacquer. I bartend on the weekends so my nails rarely make it through one shift without chipping. But I've had my nails done here four times and all four times they made it through the weekend with only minor chips! It's miraculous! To top it off the staff is extremely friendly and really take their time. My cuticles have never looked better. The ONLY complaint I have is their dryers are worthless, but that's fine, I just hang out a little longer before I leave. Highly recommended! read more

I actually went to this salon based on the 4/5 star reviews. I was expecting superior service, and actually received service that was JUST okay. I will probably go back again because it's somewhat convenient, but I'll try other salons in the neighborhood first. My pedicures generally last longer than this one did, but because I was vacationing and in water more than usual, I'll take that into consideration. My manicure lasted about three days. Here's what could have happened to make the experience better: 1. Can I get you something to drink? 2. Would you like a magazine? 3. How did you hear about us? 4. Thank you for your business, we hope to see you again. Here's the biggest faux pas, thinking that you deserved a $10 tip for a $35 mani & pani. I have been coming to Lacquer for 7 years. There have been many times I felt customer service was below par. I often went back because of convenience. But this last visit was it for me. They have lost me as a customer. First it was the sticker shock. The no chip mani and pedi got a huge increase taking the total to 75 dollars. With tip we are now at nearly 90 dollars. Which is just craziness. At that price you might as well go to a spa. I would have maybe been ok with the increase and gone back due to convenience. However, within 2 days my no chip manicure started getting black streaks all over my nails and i had a dark peachy color. When I went back they basically said it happens and that I would have to pay for a polish change. I contemplated this but after looking around all of the polishes looked very old or watered down so I just told them to take them off. Customer service is taking care of your clients and making things right. They should have offered a new no chip at no cost or at very least the regular polish change I requested. Out of principle I was not going to pay for the polish change. So I left after they took them off and went somewhere else. I will never go back. read more

I like going to this nail salon because It is really close to me. They have very long hours and are open on Mondays! Sometimes, it can get very busy in there. When I went, there were three nail staff working and they filled up pretty quickly for a Monday morning. The nail tech that did my mani-pedi was friendly and efficient. She did a good job and I did not feel rushed. My nails look so much better then before! The price is also very nice. If you are looking for a fancy salon with crazy options, this may not be for you. It would be nice if they had relaxing music playing instead of daytime TV and a crappy radio station. Next time, I'll bring my ipod. Overall, it was a good experience and I'll return. read more

Unfortunately, I've had worse. However, my last visit there confirmed that I will not be going back. I filled my punch card with 10 pedicures to get a free one, but because I did the $35 mani-pedi that day, they said the best they could give me was $5 off. Then my shoulder massage lasted less than 60 seconds and they weren't even busy. The nails look good that day and they always have new colors, but they chip-and-quick. The service is excellent and most importantly the manicure lasts a full week and sometime longer. The owner and staff are very friendly and they even give you a shoulder massage while your nails are drying. The price is right at $15 for a regular mani, they work quickly, and they have great attention to detail. I've always left satisfied. One gripe: while they have a decent selection of nail polish colors and brands to choose from, I have had trouble locating the color(s) I'm looking for. Next to the shelves of polish is a huge basket of 'loose' polish in a corner that some of the colors get tossed into, I guess because of limited shelf space.
