I just moved to the West Loop & this salon had some good reviews. I went here on Sunday and by Monday my nails looked dull and by Tuesday they were already chipping. I even used my own Essie nail polish which I know can last a good two weeks if a decent top coat is done - Not so much! I won't be back. I've gone to Nail Lacquer about 5 times, and I like this place - its clean, the people are nice, and they are all about business. They get your nails done efficiently, but they don't take shortcuts. They give you a mini shoulder massage after your service, and best of all, a mani/pedi is only $35. They also have a frequent customer card. Tonite, I came in 30 minutes before closing, and they still let me in for a mani/pedi. I had VIP service with one lady painting my fingernails while the other lady did my toenails. Definitely one of the best nails salons in the West Loop. Manicures typically last a week and it is cleaner than others I've been to. Only bad thing is there is always a wait during prime hours. If they tell you the wait is 10 minutes it is going to be more like 20. read more

Ow!!!!!! I'm bleeding!!!! Those are not words you want to hear when you are in a nail salon, but they were exactly the words I uttered as a got my pedicure tonight!! It was the worst pedicure I've ever had!! My toe was cut pretty badly by the cuticle cutter. After getting someone else to finish the pedicure, I then got a really bad manicure. Finally I just gave up, and ended up getting my nails redone at another nearby salon. I was not offered anything for getting cut, like a discount on the price or a free manicure. I used to come here all of the time, but with this horrendous customer service and thousands of other nail shops in the city, this is one place I won't be visiting again. read more

I just tried this place out and am really glad I did! I, like many of the reviewers who post on this salon page, am a mani/pedi addict so I know when I get good service. First, my nail tech was quite sensitive to any request I had. Secondly, her massage skills were great for both my legs and arms, not to mention the 15 minute shoulder/back/scalp/neck massage while my nails dry. My mani/pedi were $35 and my eyebrows were $12 - which by the way, i think they did a clean job on that too. Like others who rave about the chairs, I really enjoyed the massage on their AUTO mode. Horrible customer service!!! Stay away!! The technicians at the salon do a fairly good job. Too bad the owner lets her 18 year old daughter with zero personality and a chip on her shoulder run the place. My last visit is a good example: A mani-pedi that turned out pretty well, until I asked for buffing on my nails. I paid the $35 as requested and as I was about to leave I was told they needed $3 more dollars for the buff. I could care less about the money, the point is that I wasn't told there was an extra charge, and I already paid the bill. When I brought that up, I was told "Too bad, there are other salons in the neighborhood," by Jojo the teenager running the the place for the day. Now I've been to salons from California to New York, and I have to say, I've never been charged additional for the 50 cent buffing block that's used. Jojo: you're right, there are and with customer service like this, after you close all your clients will go to the others. Grow up, you're not doing you're family any favors. I did have occasion to talk to her sister, the manager of the salon and relate this story. She of course apologized (too late) and said she didn't know what was wrong with her. This salon is one of the best in the West Loop, trust me, I've tried most if not all of them! They are very friendly from the moment you walk in and attentive to boot. The pedicure chairs are some of the nicest I've seen and they all face the large flat-screen TV for your viewing pleasure. The foot and leg massage are longer than most I've had which is a major plus! I've never had to wait longer than 5-10 minutes as a walk-in, although I've only been twice on weekends. I've been here twice--once for a french mani, and another time for the regular mani. Each time the staff has been excellent--very nice, comfortable facilities, etc. No complaints there. My two stars is because each time I've gotten a manicure, the paint has either chipped or cracked within 3 days. I'm not rough on my hands, either. These cracks are tiny and not visible immediately, but sort of spider out under the surface if you look closely enough. And my french mani turned grey when it started the 'spider cracks.' I'm not sure if this is normal since I've only had a handful of manis (french mainly, and they cracked as well eventually, though never turned grey). I give 4 stars for service, but 2 for the actual product. Perhaps I'll try some other places and see if the problem is just me. read more

I have gone here twice now with bad experiences both times. The first time I went in for a polish change and was undercharged. Instead of just letting it go, I was told I was mischarged and asked to add the $4 difference into my tip! REALLY?????? And then I was rushed out of there because it was almost closing time. The employees acted like they had somewhere much better to be. I gave it another try several months later because its so close to my place and was disappointed again. My manicurist chose not to speak to me, only pointed and assumed I knew what he wanted me to do. And then did a terrible paint job. The color is uneven and already chipping... 3 hours later. Poor customer service, quality is not up to par. I have been coming to Nail Lacquer for the past couple years. Too long in my opinion. I always make an appointment and they are consistently running late. When I complain about this, the manager just tells me to pick my color and that it will be another minute (without actually checking to see where the other nail technicians are in the process). I got fed up with waiting and walked out on my most recent appointment and was incredibly disappointed in their lack of customer service - they made no effort to acknowledge they were running late, say sorry, or attempt to fix this. In my opinion, if I can't sit down for my services at the time that I've made the appointment, you should not have accepted my appointment for that time! If you are unlucky enough to get the manager as your nail tech, she answers the phone while doing your nails. They recently raised their prices without much explanation except that other salons charge about the same. Lastly, the quality of their work is fair at best. They put on the top coat so quickly that it never covers the entire nail, which looks really bad. When I give them feedback and ask that they pay closer attention to detail, they look at me like I'm crazy. Maybe I'm crazy for going here over and over and expecting different results. They are very busy on the weekends so if you don't have an appointment you will have to wait for quite a while - but if you call in advance I have never had a problem making a reservation for the time I want. Love love love this place!!! Talk about great service, and the mani and pedi are top notch. I have natural nails and have tried countless nail salons, and the manicures that I get at this place are great. For a basic manicure, my nails have lasted up to two week with minimal chipping (and I don't get no-chip manicures). I don't like to be rush, or have the feeling of being rushed when I'm being service, and I've been to plenty nail salons where it's quantity over quality...but not this place. It's truly a relaxing atmosphere, and they even give a light paraffin for your heels at the end of your pedicure...oh and a quick shoulder massage. I'm happy with the way my nails look, but the pedicure all together wasn't really good. To start, the girls at the front desk seemed annoyed I even walked through their door on a slow Sunday. Then seemed even more annoyed when I didn't have an appointment. It was my first day off in weeks and I just wanted a pedicure, but nothing about it was relaxing. I found myself rather tense throughout the whole process as the young lady taking care of me was ripping off my cuticles until my toe was bleeding between my nail and skin and gave me a massage I could really only describe as rough and painful. Then came the polishing, then the digging of the nail between nail and skin to clean up the polish. Over and over again. My feet hurt more coming out than they did going in. I wouldn't go back and I definitely believe my money could have been spent better. read more

Went here during a slow time in the hopes of getting a nice relaxing pedicure. I was the only one in the place and yet they chose the one (or perhaps one of many) chairs that is broken. The massage did not work and when I asked the lady whether I was doing something wrong in operating it she simply shrugged her shoulders and did not care. Then, the basin that hold the water leaked heavily all over my nice leather purse, covering it in water. I calmly waited for the horrible pedicure to be over and was charged full price as I left. When I asked for a discount, they said $5 is all they can do and it was my fault for putting my purse on the floor. With all of the nail salons in the west loop, I will definitely be choosing one that appreciates customer service. read more

This place is totally hit or miss. Had a great regular manicure about 3 weeks ago. Went here during my lunch hour today and it was super slow and the service was really bad. I was one of 2 people in the place. The one nail tech in sight yelled for another to come from the back to take my no chip mani off. This woman hadn't the first clue how to do it and it took over 30 min to take the polish off. 30 MINUTES?! I didn't want her even touching my nails and made a face to the other technician. Finally the nail tech who did know what she was doing took me and did my nails only to do a totally rushed and half a** job. I have bubbles in my no chip. Bubbles. She even noticed and didn't offer a discount or anything and I was charged full price. I was also in there when Lauren S. (who just reviewed today) had her pedi and how they treated her was TERRIBLE. They clearly ruined her purse and offered no apology or discount. The fact that she even had to ask and all three (a third nail tech appeared) to argue about it and proceed to complain about it after she left - albeit in another language and quite loud but it was pretty easy to tell what they were complaining about. It was a HORRIBLE experience. I would go back if I'm desperate and have a few hours to kill as it's the only nail place by my office but I really think I'll go elsewhere. Severely disappointed. As a follow up a week later, my no chip looks like crap and is chipping. I've never had a no chip not last at least 2 weeks but my nails look like garbage already. Their customer service sucks and so does their managers attitude. I got my nails done on Saturday, brought the coupon from Mariano's and they told me that they will no longer take the coupon on weekends. So then another girl and I were talking, in the shop, and I asked her if she knew about the sudden policy change. Later, while my nails were drying, the manager asked me about my mani and pedi. I told her I liked it and that I used a coupon. From then on it got very nasty...she flipped like a light switch. This crazy B told me that she heard my convo with the other customer and if I didn't like the prices, I didn't have to come back. Now I know I wasn't in the privacy of my own home, but I'll be damned if I can't have a convo with someone and she tell me that's inappropriate. As grown as I am, I should've kicked her ass...but that would've gotten me arrested. She then talked shit under her breath and repeatedly told me that I didn't have to return to the salon. I've never in my life, besides the last time I visited this salon, been so disrespected AFTER I spent good money! Also their nail polish is old as dirt! My polish started chipping two days later! This salon was one of my favorites in the west loop. I was so disheartened when I had a bad experience here. I was running late picking up my son's from school so I asked their dad to get them and bring them to nail lacquer. When they arrived at the door the nail tech did not buzz them in so I unwittingly thought that I could just open it from the inside. After fumbling with the door for nearly a minute I turned to the Nailtech for assistance. She finally buzzed them in. I've thought about this for the last 2 days and I am certain that she did not buzz the door initially because they were racially profiled. An African American man and two African American Male children were not given the benefit of the doubt. I was a frequent customer here for 3 years. The women sitting at the first chair started working there about two years after I began patronizing them. She has always been unwelcoming but this situation is too much. I tried this salon in February and the technician I had was careless, not paying attention to what she was doing and cut my cuticle too deeply it bled. She apologized and placed some strange ointment to stop the bleeding. It took about 3 weeks to heal. I decided to try again today, 5 months later with a pedicure only. I didn't get cut, but the attention to detail was lousy and the the technician went too quickly in order to take additional waiting clients so they wouldn't leave. She was also very rude and you could tell she hated her job. The pedicure was 30$ where a mani/pedi was 35$. I paid my 30 and a small tip. She complained about her tip, which I regret even giving her one. I will never go back and do not recommend it to anyone. read more

I needed to get a pedicure and wanted to try a place closer to my home. Well, I should have read yelp first about this place! I went it and the pedicure was fair, the technician was pretty rough with the cuticles, the chair didn't work and it was warm inside. I left and noticed that my heels were still cracked and dry and that the nail polish was applied uneven. So I decided to go back, I am not the kind of person to ask someone to redo something but I went back anyway. The lady at the front desk said I should have told them that I wanted my heels done better, and I said that I had informed the technician before she started working. They she proceed to go in the back and talk to the technician. She came back pretty cold and started to work with used tools. Then she was told to put lotion on by another technician. She proceed to put on the toe spacers and then the pedicure sandals. I asked her if she could put on my other sandals instead and she did (I have done this may times before) She started removing my old nail polish and my toe started feeling sticky. I looked down and noticed that my Tori Burch sandals were ruined, she had nail polish remover all over the place. I asked her to stop she didn't want too, so I got up and walked to the front desk. The girl refused to refund my money and offered a gift certificate. Why would I want to come back if I am walking out with toes unpolished?!?!?! You think businesses would want to take pride in their work with so many options for customers, but not Nail Lacquer Salon. STAY AWAY!!!!!! read more
