I love this place. From the quaint building it's located in to the fact they are open late, until 10pm when other shops have closed down for the night. The place is very soothing and warm and welcoming. I've had a few pedicures here and have always been very pleased with the service and work done. My nails chip less and my feet always look great. The best part about Spa Noir is the last Tuesday of the month when you can enjoy champagne and chocolate while getting spa treatments at discounted prices it's fabulous darling go check it out. read more

Start with the positive: I had two massages at spa noir because I received a gift certificate. Both gals were very nice and did not try to hold a conversation during my massage (which surprisingly is not a given to many massage therapists). That's about where the positive ends. The spa is right next to a bar and has paper thin walls. I could hear the bass dropping throughout my massage. But that was nothing compared to the actual music playing in the rooms. All of the rooms have the same music, so don't think you can request a change. The music was fast paced with high pitched signing- i.e. the least relaxing ambiance one could hope for when getting a massage. Apparently they pride themselves on the fact that they don't play the same style music as most massage places-- this "unique" ambiance should be revisited immediately. I could see this spa being fine for other services, like pedicures. Massages-no way. read more

Was here one other time because a friend got me a gift cert for a hot stone massage. I had a great experience. I've always wanted to go back, so when the opportunity came w/ a Gilt City deal, I got so excited and bought 2 this time. So I went yesterday and It was a 90 min hot stone massage. I realized the massage therapist ended my session 1/2 hour early and didn't even tell me. I had confront the receptionist and she said "she messed up". She suggest that I can make up the 30 mins some other time. That means I have to find time on my weekend to go there again! Also, when I was ready to redeem my coupon, she said it was already used. I said it couldn't be and she was trying to reason with me. Then she said the owner will call me to sort it through, because the receptionist doesn't know the system. Don't be working the front desk if you don't know how to use the system!!! It gives your SPA a bad name and you look VERY disorganized. Overall the customer service is VERY BAD! On a dark winter night in Seattle, there's nothing I want more than to be warm and cozy. Spa Noir is the definition of cozy. Dark but not dingy, the spa feels very welcoming and cool. I came in for a waxing service with Constance. She led me to a small, brick walled room with soft lighting. She made small talk with me, but wasn't awkward at all. I listened to great music- Thom Yorke and the Shins. She was quick, thorough and just plain good. The receptionist was cheerful and cool and was excited about the new candles they got in. I love that- when you go somewhere and the employees are genuinely into it. All in all I'd have to say this has been one of the best waxing experiences yet. Plus- it's in my hood. My massage therapist was nice and gave a pretty good massage (hands, face and scalp were highlights). But I have gotten more relaxing and therapeutic deep tissue massages at better prices. I did come late in the day which I am sure matters. My husband was also not super impressed with his massage either. He's got welts and said while there was quite a bit of pressure - he didn't experience much release either. That wouldn't necessarily keep me from coming back, however, because you can give feedback before the next one and I felt my therapist really cared about getting it right. What will keep me from coming back was the atmosphere. First, the very loud music and noise coming from the bar next door. Second, the extremely loud and pretty intense music they pipe into the rooms to cover the noise (think of Florence and the machines most intense stuff). Lastly, the British receptionist who read what my job was off the form I filled out and proceeded to delve into the differing qualification systems for British and American lawyers and how British lawyers are much more qualified until I told her I didn't want to talk about that before a relaxing massage... Also, seeing my husband's Seahawks sweater she really wanted to tell us how much she hates football. So weird and intrusive. read more

I have been going to Spa Noir for about 8 months after receiving a gift certificate. Been super happy and my experiences have all been good . Have had manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing. All have been exceptional. One day during bad traffic, the person I was seeing was going to be late and I actually received a personal text with apology. Really appreciated that. Just hung out at the Starbucks down the block. They sell really nice products and the prices are very reasonable for a downtown establishment. It's a super location if you are downtown for work or happen to live in Belltown. Their hours are great for people who work during the day. I also live their playlist choices! Ahhhhhmazing. My first time at Spa Noir, I had a massage. I was a little hesitant to try a new place but boy am I glad I did. I'm sad I can't remember my masseuses name but he was amazing. WARNING: there is no air conditioning in the massage rooms. I came for a pre-natal massage today and there were only 2 fans running in the room. The high today was 89 degrees outside and the temperature of the massage room was at least 75 degrees if not warmer given that you have blankets draped over your body. The 2 star review is primarily for the facilities, and not the massage therapist. The pre-natal massage was fine. The atmosphere was not. Besides being very warm in the room, the pre-natal body pillow was too firm, rough, and coarse. Also, you could hear people giggling, and the sounds of doors being opened and closed. The music played during the massage is also eclectic, and I still have the phrase, "I am a woman" playing in my head from one of the songs overheard. Since becoming pregnant and traveling for work, I have a massage every other week at different spas depending on where I am. The technique of the therapist was fine, but the overall experience was not enjoyable. Who wants to be sweating and listening to the lyrics "I am a woman" over and over again while trying to relax. read more

I brought myself and my mom here last weekend for Mom's birthday, feeling confident that we'd have good experiences based on all these great reviews. Mom had a massage with Deja (that's a guess at the spelling). She was apparently awesome. My mom is a medical transcriptionist with the sort of occupational musculoskeletal problems one would expect, so I know she really needed and appreciated the great work she received. I, on the other hand, teach 10-15 fitness classes every week, so I hoped for some real help with my beaten-up body. I also came in stressed and needing to dissolve into the table. My therapist, Kelleen or something like that, fell short on both counts. I tried really hard during my treatment to just enjoy being there, but her touch had a fundamental lack of continuity, the pressure was insufficient, and overall it felt pointless. I have an adhesion in my hip that I massage often, which is usually actually hot to the touch, and she didn't detect it. I truly do not mind gentle massage, if it's done with the right flow and focus. The art was lacking. Also, the music was often distracting and vocal. I'm not demanding whale songs for my massage, but the music that played did worsen my experience. I had a brow wax after the massage, and the esthetician said she loves this therapist's massage, so I hope that maybe Kelleen was just suffering from low blood sugar. It can mess with the best of us. The brow wax was OK. She cleaned me up, but when I got out of there, I felt and saw strays galore, moreso than after any brow wax I've had before. Bummer for me, but I'm glad my mom got a great massage. read more

I love this place. I have gotten manicures, pedicures and facials here on multiple occaisions. I love the staff and the owner, Jessica, who often did my mani/pedis. The atmosphere is lovely and not like a typical sterile spa environment - the big comfy pedicure chair rocks. The carry wonderful products, including and awesome pumpkin exfoliant and the prices are reasonable. I have been looking for a nicer and quaint spa in downtown belltown area. Found this one! I like the front desk service very friendly. Waiting area was a little dissappointed in the back they basically sat me down on a pedicure station?! a cluttered ackward space obviously not set up as a lounge...very relaxing... why isn't there a nice space for waiting at a nice spa? Also I was surprised to see that there are NO toilet liners???? how is that possible at a nice spa for hygiene reasons? I don't get this.... Good thing is massage itself was nice I will be going back but I think tey have potential to have a better facility set up. read more

Had a really good experience here with the express pedi! Will definitely go again. We talked of opera and stage makeup while my feet were placed on pillows and pampered. Was a little 'eh' about the pedi chair (old Lazy boy covered in lush fabrics) and washbasin (oldschool bedpan?) for my feet. But it won't deter me from returning. One of the most disappointing massages I've gotten. I came in complaining of sciatica and requested lots of low back and glute work. Unfortunately she didn't focus more on the side that had sciatica anymore than the opposite side. She also did zero glute work. So, I just came from the aforementioned "last tuesday of the month", where spa services are somewhat discounted and chocolate and champagne are served. Let me first say that the ladies at Spa Noir are absolutely fahbulous, dahlink. They were lovely to talk to and genuinely nice people. However, the express manicure/pedicure that I paid $45 bucks for ($37 before tip. I never know how much to tip, anyone know?) was crummy. Actually, just the pedicure was crummy, cause I never have much done to my (finger)nails. The lighting was very dim, and at the spa, my toes looked cute as a button. When I got home, however, in the garish apartment elevator lights, I noticed drips, gunks, and puddles. Seriously, I could do better myself. For $37 dollars, I can go to a walk in place in the mall, soak my toes for 5-10 minutes and get my legs/feet massaged for a good five minutes each. Tonight, my toes got dunked for maybe 2 minutes, and I'm still picking off rolls of lotion that didn't get "rubbed" in to my legs. Perhaps I sound cranky, and okay, so maybe an "express" pedicure doesn't include the soaking/massage, but the polish should at least be NEAT. Nice people, though. read more

*THIS IS JUST FOR THE SHELLAC (Massage and eye brow wax great)* I have had Shellac done before and loved how long it lasted and how good it looked. Since I really enjoyed my massage earlier week, I decided to try their Shellac. I was disappointed. I got my nails done at 4:40 on Saturday, now 4 days later, 5 of my nails have started to chip and come off. My thumb nail started to flake after just 1 day. I ended up peeling it right off, and it came without resistance. The bonus is, it didn't ruin my nails, but this is unacceptable for Shellac. The place I had it done before lasted for a good 2 weeks without any chips at all. It might be due to lack of education? When I had it done before, you put your fingers under the uv light for varying times based on what step you are on in process. That didn't happen this time. I really wanted to love this, but typically even a basic manicure lasts longer. I wouldn't recommend any nail services here, but a massage with Deja is heaven! read more

Ok, so this is a nice place. My facialist seemed very nice and skilled, and I really liked her. Also, they gave me free samples, so bonus. All around, nothing was bad about my experience. That being said, I had gone there because my skin was in really bad shape and I thought a facial would make my skin look better, and it did not. My skin looked better for 24 hours, then went back to it's usual state. Maybe my expectations were too high, and maybe there were some general or long term benefits from a thorough face cleaning. Still, as nice and reasonably priced as this place was, I won't go back; it's just not worth spending money on something that doesn't have more obvious benefits for my skin. read more

This is for SHELLAC ONLY! I was very disappointed. I dont think its the fault of the Shellac but of the manicurist. Ive had my manicure for 4 days now and already the color has chipped on a few of the nails. The dark color I picked is extremely patchy and nonuniform. I know dark colors are hard but have never had problems with other professionals in the past. I almost asked to have if removed and done again in a nude color. She also didnt paint all the way to my cuticle so I left looking like I had 5 days worth of grow out and from what Ive seen on other people that's not the usual way to do it. The owner was very sweet and her staff was as well but I think she needs more training or practice. If I do decide to get Shellac again Ill try at Frenchies, which has come highly recommended to me by my boss. read more

My husband bought me a gift certificate to Spa Noir for my birthday. I ended up using the value of the gift certificate to buy a massage for myself and one for my husband, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating when I called to schedule our appointments. I had a prenatal massage with Jaime that was absolutely wonderful. When I made my appointment, I found out that Jaime is also a midwife, which made me feel like I was in absolutely the best hands for a prenatal massage. Jaime was very attentive to my aches and pains and hit all the right spots with all the right pressure. I tend to like lots of pressure in my massages, and Jaime was able to get it just right. I left feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated. I really liked the atmosphere at Spa Noir. The music they played was soothing, the room was a comfortable temperature, they use unscented massage oil (big plus for me!), and overall the vibe was very relaxed and happy. After moving to Seattle and having my skin freak out, I went to see a facialist - Constance - at Spa Noir. My skin had not had breakouts like this since I was a teen, and I was getting fed up. Not only did Constance give me an amazing, relaxing facial, she talked me through every step and kept me informed on what was going on. I spoke with her about the products I was using (all of which she knew) and what my routine was. She advised me on which ones to get rid of, which to keep, how often to use them, and which tool to use on my face. The facial itself was heavenly and ended with an acupressure massage (!) to my surprise! But the best part about the facial was the knowledge I received. 2 weeks later, my acne has disappeared. She helped me figure out how to take care of my skin, and the proper way to wash my skin. I felt taken care of there. This review is for Melissa's massages. They are seriously amazing. I am a huge fan of massages, and have therefore had many in my time - probably more than I should admit. I'd say most are fine to good. I have now had two massages with Melissa in the last five weeks, and I can honestly say they have been among the best I've ever had (rivaling those with the reigning champ, Jo, at Inman Oasis in Cambridge, MA, in case you're wondering). I like really firm pressure, and Melissa delivers - she uses her forearms in sweeping motions, and then digs deep with her hands. If you like a lighter touch, I imagine she can give you that too - she really listens to what you have to say, and what your body tells her as she works. Seriously, it's amazing. There is NO SERVICE I DON'T LOVE at this salon and it really baffles me how anyone could write a negative review, even though there are only a few. Honestly, I don't mean to get defensive but if you have something go wrong, which is rare, people make mistakes so before you start typing away at your keyboard, pick up a phone and call them. Anything that has gone wrong, I know Jess is happy to fix. This is someone's business, their job, their livelihood - don't hide behind your computer with negative comments. The only person to blame is yourself for not speaking up! On the other hand I'm so happy to see so many people love this place as much as I do. I had my eyebrows almost ripped off by some place in Ballard and Jess saved them. When I moved from San Diego my skin was having a bad reaction to the change in weather - now, thanks to my monthly facials per Jess, my skin glows and I love it! I seriously show up 20 minutes before appointments just to chat and stay at least 20 minutes after my appointment because I can't stop chatting. Everyone is so personable and knowledgeable, you won't regret coming here. One of the best decisions I've ever made is picking up the phone two years ago and making an appointment at Spa Noir!
