I told them that the massage I had last weekend was just horrible: left me w/ continued aches/sores/tension/knots and it's just getting worse (my back felt hunch over w/ all of the work travels and desk time in the past 4 months). And yes, it's been 4 months since I've seen a massage therapist. The place is humble, super low key, overseeing the marina (windows are tinted and is a one way mirrior film), so no one can look in, but you can look out which is absolutely beautiful. My wife called to cancel her appointment because of her period started the day before the appointment. She called a day in advance but they still charged her the full fee of $130. Today she had to go to Emergency (we have all medical documents as evidence of her Emergency visit) but the person at the reception (I guess his name is Dan) after conferring with the owner, Patti, said that regardless of the time they would have charged us the full price of $130 for rescheduling or cancellation. I got a Swedish full body. While I was faced down, she spent the majority of the time on my back, then a few minutes on leg and arms. Then facing up, she did a few minutes on legs and then neck and because I asked her to, a few more minutes on head and then it was all over. I was caught off guard that the massage did not have more time on arms and legs, and not at all on hands or feet. The massage was over before I knew it so I didn't have time to say anything about it. I guess I should've confirmed all the places she would work on before we started but I thought full body pretty much covered everything. I had a 1 hour massage session with Katya and had a positive experience. It's my 2nd ever massage, with the last one a few years back where I recall being in pain most of the hour, but this place is a bit less intense but still effective. This place has very good precautions to cleanliness, as they make you wash your hands first, then temperature and vitals check, and then they even spray hand sanitizer at the bottom of the shoe! But that also makes me feel more comfortable in the massage room. The massage room is actually pretty nice and dimly lit, a bit minimalistic. The windows are actually one sided windows which means you get to see the beautiful South Lake Union whereas people outside will not be able to see you. Katya was patient and professional as I gather my bearings to what a massage entails, in which you dress to your comfort level and then slide in to the bed. The massage was soothing, starting from a more intense back massage and then a smoother, warmer leg massage. It then concludes with a shoulder massage. Throughout the session, she was friendly and we had good conversation about games, places in Seattle, and travels which makes it a more personalized experience than just going through the motions of the massage. I docked off a star because at the time of reservation, they have a section what you're looking for so I put in that I'd need a bit of a massage at the right hand due to using it too much for gaming and coding, and I also gave a reminder at the beginning, but Katya didn't do the right arm/hand at all. Regardless, this is a pretty solid massage place with a good price point (not sure relative to other places in Seattle but definitely way cheaper than my first massage which was in the Bay Area). 1 hour is 1 hour even if you take your time getting prepared (hence even though they close at 8 on Friday, my massage only concluded around 8:05pm as I wasn't ready until around 7:05pm) as long as it is reasonable of course. read more

Yelp failed me on this one. The second I walked in there I regretted it and wished I left. The room was definitely gross, did not make me feel comfortable or relaxed whatsoever. The table sheets felt like airplane sheets, mind you, it was one thin sheet over you. The head rest I was grossed out to rest my head on. The window shades were covered in dust and the walls and floor boards were all scuffed and gross. Just so the opposite of luxury. My masseuse was so kind, but wow did it feel like I paid someone to just put lotion on me. Terrible massage. I would give this place a 2.5/5 stars but rounded up to be nice. Would never go back and feel bad as again, the person who gave me massage was very kind, but felt like they had no clue what they were doing or where to apply pressure and where to not. Ok, do yourself a favor and book a massage with Michele Dean. Stat. Do not hesitate or wait for that achy body to get worse. Michele has amazing hands! Warm, strong, great at zeroing in on, and soothing those achy and congested spots. She's an expert at giving you precision pressure. It's a gift. LIFE CHANGING - quite literally . I have sought out a massage therapist for lifetimes , someone who could connect and understand my pain and trauma based pain. just didn't know I had to fly over 2k miles to find her !!! Let's start here: getting a massage in the middle of a global pandemic is...nerve-wracking. That said, there's also no more important of a time than when our bodies are storing undue stressors so I booked an appointment the day after the election. LOCATION: Having been to the old location, I found Seattle Massage Oasis' new view a wonderful change. Being on the fourth floor of a building on the water gives one a certain sense of peace upon walking into the room, even though you aren't really looking out for the bulk of your massage (it's one-way glass for anyone concerned). Two minor downsides are the music system is Bluetooth which could be better and you can sort of hear muffled voices through the door if someone is checking out, but I find both typical of most massage parlours. COVID-19 PROTOCOLS: This is, I think, the most important part of this review. As a hairstylist I feel very strongly that every business I visit should feel SAFE, especially since I am used to enforcing protocols in my own business. Here's why I felt safe at SMO: - very thorough intake form - contact tracing enforced - not just temperature checks but OXYGEN LEVEL checks as well, which I felt really good about. - guests required to wash hands, wear masks at all times (disposable provided for $1 if you don't have ear loop ones), and bottom of shoes sprayed with disinfectant upon entering the space. - I later found out HEPA filters were also being replaced every 2.5 weeks - no additional charge for their extra measures, which is atypical for most places and which was much appreciated. SERVICE PROVIDER David was my service provider and I was able to book same-day. I found out through conversation he had years of experience and it showed in his massage "instincts." He had great bedside manner, coming in and out of conversation off my lead, and also catered to my hour-long service based on preferences (I have a few particularities, like requesting a rolled up towel for my neck). He even offered to take music requests but he had good taste in non-distracting music, so I didn't take him up on this. David's approach sets you at ease right away and I found myself very comfortable; more importantly my body felt decidedly better two days after the service. He wore appropriate coverings when in close proximity, followed all protocols I was expecting upon arrival, and overall was very professional. Big kudos to Seattle Massage Oasis! This place is full of phenomenal quality people who are thoroughly experienced in body work in a quiet corner of Westlake overlooking Lake Union. I had Rielle Pruitt for my masseuse who was honestly exceptional!!!Seriously I'm always nervous when I try a new massage therapist but she made me feel so comfortable and was friendly but not overbearing or too talkative. She has that perfect kind of balance of providing information and making you feel at ease. She's a licensed massage therapist who is well versed & knowledgeable in understanding the muscular system of the body. I'm kind of a nerd of science so I asked her tons of questions. My favorite part is that she took special care to an injury to a shoulder I have but also pointed out other areas that I'd had previous injuries to in the past just by feel without me even having to tell her! Rielle is patient, intelligent, and just in general incredible with her massage skills (seriously I had bad muscle spasms when I came to see her after neglecting my body for over a year and those slowly dissipated after I left!). I should also mention that this place has probably the most effective and safe measures for COVID that I've seen. After thinking back on my experience, I figured I had to write a review on my poor experience since I have no idea why this place is so highly rated. Summary below: - "Deep tissue massage" meant putting pressure in one spot with limited or no slow stroke so it just felt like someone was pressing down on me vs actually massaging - Masseuse never once asked if she was too light / too hard and if she was massaging the right places. I had to tell her to press harder - Masseuse ended the massage 7 min early- which is a lot considering that it's a 60min massage and you're paying full price - Note, this is a one-room massage place that is in a bit of an older building Two stars only because they seemed to be careful about COVID procedures (took temp / oxygen levels, wash hands, etc.) Would not go back. read more

After 3 trials at SMO, I'm so glad I stuck it out one more time and found Katya, who was a delicate balance between communication, intuition and professionalism! She put me at ease by her encouraging but calming attitude, allowing me time and silence to relax and sink into the work. In the past I've had trouble relaxing when there were conversations through out the session, or no check-in at all, so this was a pleasant surprise. Although TMJ wasn't listed under Katya's expertise on the website, she intuitively relieved my jaw pain and tension headache from TMJ, even with mask on! I booked a last minute massage appointment with Destynee and even showed up to my appointment early (note: if your appointment is on the weekend, the door to the unit is locked - my suggestion is to call when you are outside or hope someone sees you struggling to open the door). Even though I was early, Destynee was more than happy to have me start right away. I have never gotten a complete full body massage before but after doing a Spartan race a day earlier in Snohomish, I definitely needed one. Destynee was very attentive and asked me if there were any problem areas that she should focus on. I told her about some soreness and lingering aches and she definitely helped relieve all my elbow and lower back pain. The massage table is lightly heated and the music sets a very relaxing mood. I did not want a deep tissue massage after being in pain after my race so Destynee's gentler pressure was perfect. If I was in the city any longer, I would have scheduled more follow up appointment but for now, I hope Destynee is available the next time I am in town! read more

I sprained my left hip and it was very sore, tender and I didn't have much range of motion without experiencing sharp pain. As a professional dancer, this is an enormous bummer that prevents me from doing what I love/my livelihood. I went in to get a one hour massage from Katya and she did an excellent job listening to my needs and focusing on my back/hip (per my request). Not only did I feel much better immediately after the massage but the next day, my hip felt COMPLETELY better! I'm honestly shocked. For those needing the detailed receipt for insurance/ FSA purposes, you will have to deal with Patti who is an ineffective communicator (via email & phone). It took emails/ phone calls everyday. Patti set an expectation to deliver the receipt on Wed afternoon, but miss her own deadline.. She sent the receipt on Friday, citing that she went above and beyond normal effort. My husband actually surprised me by booking this massage for me on my birthday, so I wasn't sure what to expect as I usually do a fair bit of research before booking a massage. As you can probably tell, I take my massages very seriously: they're not cheap, you're locked in for a good hour, and in a rather vulnerable position, might I add. It turned out to be one of the best massages I've ever had. Deep tissue massages are often a tricky balance between pain and anticipated relief, but I felt like Patti used a lot of pressure to get all those nasty knots out without getting into painful territory (not too much, anyway, ;), which is not an easy feat. The massage was excellent and the therapist not only listened to what was going on with my body but also made some suggestions after we discussed the focus. If you've been looking for a masseuse, I can't recommend Seattle Massage Oasis enough. Scheduling is easy and you can book appointments online. I had to reschedule an appointment after catching the plague. I got to the office early, it's located right on Westlake over by China Harbor which makes it super easy to find with tons of parking. Entering the Oasis you are instantly calmed by dim lights and an overall relaxed atmosphere. Patti went over my intake form and asked which areas I'd like to focus on. Having run a marathon about a month ago, it was time for some lower-body attention. Patti has been doing this for 16 years, she knows her stuff. She honed in on the areas that needed attention and while some of the pressure applied made me squinch up my face, I know in the end it's worth it. Tons of knots all over aren't going to go away with light pressure. This was the first massage I've had in a very long time. Patti was responsive to my questions and put me at ease right away. My wife and I went here for our anniversary in November. The massage therapists were friendly, they have good covid protocol and the location has a great view of Lake Union. However, the massage room was all windows and offered no privacy, was very bright and cold. It was cold enough in the room that we were uncomfortable most of the time and it was hard to relax. During the massage my wife's therapist sprayed cold hand sanitizer on her arms with out any warning. This made the experience even colder for her! We both asked for a second sheet to wear but that didn't help much. The massages themselves were sub-par and they really didn't ask for feedback on how they were doing or to increase/decrease pressure. If you want a nice relaxing massage in a warm space don't go here, especially in the Seattle winter. We left feeling dissatisfied and wished that we had taken our money elsewhere. read more
