This is the second time we visited this restaurant. The decor of the place is very minimalistic and basic and the service could use improvement. We ordered the chicken lollipops which was strictly okay. The saag paneer was tasty and the chicken tandoori was also pretty good. The prices are reasonable and the quantity is great. It's worth a visit if you want to try something new. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. All dishes weee tasty, made perfectly at our desired spice level. Music was a bit too loud, very plain interior, but food was good. We got the butter chicken, goat curry, dal tadka and garlic nann. read more

Got my regular chicken 65 biryani order as per usual. Still same issue where they knew I was sitting waiting for an order and it was done, but no one said anything so I had to go up eventually and ask if my food was ready for takeout. Got home and the food just doesn't taste as good as it used to. Bit disappointing read more

I ordered the Goat Dum Biryani over the weekend and ordered it again today. There's definitely a noticeable difference between the two orders in terms of taste, spices, and the quantity of meat. The one I had over the weekend was significantly better in all aspects. I hope you can maintain the same quality and consistency in future orders. read more

Crispy corn 5/5 Dahl makhani 3/5 Butter paneer 3/5 Garlic naan 4/5 Mango lassi 5/5 Overall fast attentive service. Seated right away. The food came out fairly quickly but the place wasn't busy at all. I would say the food was average but nothing super special in regard to the Dahl and butter paneer. The crispy corn was surprisingly good (you have to ask for it special, not on the menu). They don't have tap water so they serve you bottled water from Costco. Ambiance was 2.5/5, it's a super casual place and while it was clean, it felt rather plain/sterile inside and there were large TVs playing loud music videos. read more

That was the worst food I've ever had in my life. The naan was so bad and extremely hard. When I asked the guy taking the order, he told me the naan cook was on break. He should've just told us not to order it instead of giving that kind of excuse. The goat wasn't cooked at all it was really hard, felt like frozen meat. I've never had food this bad in my life. I also ordered biryani and it was full of gravy with very little rice. The spice level wasn't normal spicy; it was way too masala spicy. Worst of the worst food. There was no hospitality at all. When I asked the guy what the house special was, he said they didn't have one. I asked him to call the chef or manager and instead he kept asking me what I wanted. I finally told him to make any curry and asked for lamb, but even the lamb was extremely hard. We were super hungry, otherwise we wouldn't even have eaten a single bite. We just had a little and left. Overall, it was the worst experience read more

Daytime robbery . I ordered Apollo fish appetizer for Togo , they charged around 17 $ , when I ask Apollo fish biriyani it's around 18$ , no of pieces are same with biriyani . I did not buy any appetizer for that money with less number of pieces . In their menu price is saying 12.99$ . I will avoid going there . read more

We tried their Bezawada veg biryani and onion pakoda--both were really good. The onion pakoda was a bit different from what I expected, but still very tasty. We visited about 30 minutes before closing, so we forgot to take pictures. read more

We wanted to try their latest offering (thali) for $12.99 veg/chicken or $14.99 lamb We also wanted to try their mouthwatering paneer 65 biryani. Ordered that one spicy and it didn't disappoint. It was served with raitha Not too sold on the thali though. While the food was good, it was not freshly made. It was served in a plastic tray with 2 curries, a pulav or plain rice, a few bhajiyas and crispies. Came with a small serving of yogurt and a spicy chutney plus hot naan. I was hoping they would have a dal and some other veg dish as an addition. Overall the quality is decent. Going forward I will stick with made to order items. They are known for their biryanis especially the 65 and the 555. Service was excellent and the place is pretty clean. read more

Was really feeling butter chicken so I got takeout from here. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! I ended up getting the chicken 65 and garlic naan. The portions were big and the naan was perfectly garlicky. I got mild but the chicken still had a kick to it which I didn't really mind. Would go again to try their other stuff read more

Stopped here for dinner. Never been to this place before; the choice was purely based on the Yelp reviews since I wanted to try a new place. It's a small restaurant with around 10 tables. Pick up the menu, choose any tables, order at the counter and they will serve the food to your table. That's how it's work there. Menu isn't exuberant. They do have a few number of curries, biriyanis, starters, dosas, tandoor items and desserts. Not fancy, but all decent options. Biriyanis comes in both regular and family pack quantity. We picked the Gobi Manchurian for starter, Kadai Vegetable, Chicken tikka masala, Naan and Chicken 65 biriyani for takeout. They served the food in around 15 mins. The Gobi Manchurian came first. That was decent - not spicy, but lacked some flavor. Really enjoyed the Kadai Vegetable with Naan. That was full of flavor and tasted great with the Naan. "Surprisingly" the chicken tikka masala has the "chicken tikka". We could really feel the flavor of the tikka, which lacks at most of the restaurants. The quality of the Chicken 65 biriyani was sufficient for couple of people. It was spicy but enjoyed the flavor. It was some special festival day and they served the sweets along with the food as well. I have nothing but great about the food and the service. Perfect location, adequate parking, amazing food and service. It was a very cold evening when we went there for dinner. Unfortunately the place was ice cold. They said their heater was not working. Initially they didn't really bother heating up the place. But as soon as a few more customers walked in, they brought out a portable gas heater. It wasn't enough to heat up that space, but something is better than nothing. I could only spot this as a negative about the place. They could have been a little more proactive rather waiting for a bunch of other customers to walk to react to the situation. Having said that, loved the food. I hope they have their heater fixed by now! read more

I loved their chicken 65 family size spicy biryani. Their family size biryani is the GOAT of value. Incredibly delicious and incredible quantity. Ate as much as I could with my family and had alot of leftovers for tommorow. Best chicken 65 I have tasted. Their samosas were also really good. I tried the Malai Koftha and that was great too. Can't wait to try all the dishes here one by one! read more

Delicious and very fast service! Our order was ready within 10 minutes after placing it online for pickup. Great portion sizes we will definitely be back. read more

Tried three kinds of Chicken Biryani's here, all of them were good - both spice and taste balance maintained. Ambiance improved from the last time I was there two years ago, I suspect it is under new management now. Now I understand why the rating keeps going down for them. I had ordered Gongura Chicken Biryani couple of times in the past and on special instruction it is able to have sufficient quantity of chicken for Family pack size. This time, it's just plain rice and hardly any small pieces of chicken and low quantity of onions. DISAPPOINTING especially if you are paying $35 for it read more

DO NO CATER FROM THIS. Owner is the most rude person I have seen in a while. I ordered catering for my daughter's 3rd birthday assuring that food will be mild spice, but the restaurant sent super spicy food. This ruined the party! When I called immediately he agreed to compensate but when I came to his restaurant he said that was "false assurance". He said I could have ordered pizza from some other place than ordering Indian food from his restaurant. He did not even apologize once. DO NO CATER FROM THIS. read more

Been getting food from here and always been high quality and extremely flavorful. Our favorite go to options are 555 biryani and pepper chicken. read more

We used to regularly take veg 555 biryani from the East lake Sammamish location. The spice level and vegetables in the biryani used to be perfect and mild spice level was actually mild. But the Redmond/Bellevue location is very disappointing. They make the biryani too spicy even when reminded firmly about spice level. We tried 3-4 times thinking that it may be inconsistent but every time the spice level is way too high for mild, and still inconsistent. We miss the old location but can't go back to this location again. read more

Picked up a to-go order this morning that was ready exactly on time, and super fast to get in and out with our lunch. We had the Chicken 65 and the Paneer 65 biryanis and they were amazing. Medium spice had a perfect amount of kick to it, and the flavors were amazing. Have tried a few area biryani places and this was easily the best I've had since my last visit to Hyderabad. Portions are large which means I'm already looking forward to heating up leftovers later. Will definitely be visiting again soon! read more

Really good value for money. Great food and well priced. Mild is still pretty spicy (which works well for us!) Egg Plant Curry is a favorite in our household, as is Paneer 65, the Spicy Chicken Wings (Chef Special) and vegetable samosa. We prefer picking up than dining in. read more

I ordered boneless chicken 65 biryani and garlic naan. I ordered online for takeout and service was pretty quick. The order can easily feed 2-3 people or have lots of leftovers for yourself. The chicken biryani was flavorful and very saucy. I asked for extra onions assuming it would come on the side and be red onion but it was white onion mixed with the chicken already. Garlic naan was not the best. It was very thin, flakey and crisp. Some soft pieces but not enough for me to order again. Overall good if you're in the area and craving this cuisine. read more

My friends and I decided to eat here for dinner on a Monday evening on a whim. One of my friends had done her research and was intrigued that this place specializes in Andhra cuisine. And I am always down for Indian regional food. The restaurant sits in a nondescript strip mall, typical of Eastside dining establishments. And this is exactly the type of no frills restaurant I love. Absolutely no investment in the restaurant's interior decor, (which tells me that it's all about the food)! Rows and rows of generic tables in a brightly lit, big-windowed room, with a tiny counter and tiny fridge at one end. No silverware, just plastic. No porcelain, just takeout containers and paper plates. So, if you are looking for ambiance and low lights, then you 'll have to go elsewhere. But trust me, the food is most definitely the main attraction. The man behind the counter smiled at us and half jokingly asks, "Butter chicken? Chicken tikka masala?" Clearly, he is used to us non-Desi types coming in and ordering the Indian equivalent of General Tso's chicken and Mongolian beef. So we went straight for the dishes that we had never had before: Mylavaram Chicken Biryani and Gongura Goat Biryani along with an old reliable: Chicken 65 Biryani. Upon ordering, the very sweet individual widened his eyes and asked, "Can you handle spicy food????" To which I responded with a 'Hell yeah!" And my friends responded with a, "Maaaaybe." So we got one of the dishes with high spice and the other two with medium. One of my friends grabbed a soft drink, and I thankfully had my Nalgene. (By the way, the water bottle refilling station in the restaurant does not work. Don't even try it.) After a few more rounds of joking about spice levels, we grabbed a table, as a stream of food delivery folks rushed in and rushed out to grab giant plastic bags of food. Our meals and plastic silverware came out promptly. The Gongura Goat Biryani was clearly the crowd favorite. Spicy bone-in goat chunks that start with mellow heat and end with a lingering sour tartness that is the hallmark of the gongura herb. The rice itself added extra layers of flavor, which made this dish so exciting to all of us. The Mylavaram Chicken Biryani didn't have the signature tartness of the Gongura dish, but was spicier and had loads of flavor, especially if you happen to bite into a chili peper. The Chicken 65 Biryani was interestingly the spiciest of the three, and loaded with cream and dairy. This was probably my second favorite given the heat. Also, notably, the chicken chunks in both dishes were amazingly tender and juicy. The garlic naan my friends also ended up ordering was reportedly unremarkable and oddly not very garlicky. Stick with the biryani rice! That and the reliance on plastic silverware and paper plates is why I give Southern Spice a 4 out of 5 stars. Overall, if you are tired of the usual Tandoori chicken and Curry vindaloo and are interested in unique Indian food flavors, try this spot out and be prepared for some wonderful and not too overwhelming (in my opinion) spice! read more

Ordered few times from this new Southern Spice and I have mixed reviews really. I ended up getting a stomach bug coincidentally at the same time I ordered from here the second time. Ordered another time to find the chicken was slightly uncooked. Taste is phenomenal and I want to give them credit to probably bringing the chef from the Redmond SS to the Bellevue one. I am giving them 4 stars on the premise that they will see this and make sure that the food is properly cooked. I ordered Mylavaram chicken curry and the Chicken 555 biryani and the chicken could have been cooked slightly more. I have faith in them since I have been a big fan of the Redmond location - I used to be a regular customer there. I think next time, I would probably order the Mylavaram biryani instead since the chicken 555 biryani was more buttery than I would have expected. Their Fish Pulusu is out of this world - however you need to call them to place this as an option since it is not available on their website. Also the Chef special- Loose prawns is lip smacking delicious- tad bit on the spicy side but I love it ! They took a bit of time to get my order ready even when I went after my pickup time mentioned on my order. I am not sure if they do already, but I hope they get the thali that is available for dine in during lunch at their Redmond location. Both veg and non-veg thali are amazing ! read more

Had my lunch today here. One of my worst restaurant experience. Food was very bad. Customer service was poor. Most of the buffet items were empty and it was very slow to be refilled. They serve the naan at table. It took awhile to bring naan, that was only 4 pieces for a 5 member table. When asked for more naan, they were very hesitating to serve more.
