Me and my husband were in town for the Cincinnati Music Festival and we found this restaurant on TikTok and decided to stop by. The staff were very friendly when we entered, they explained how to place your order and gave us a rundown of the menu for the day. My husband and I both placed our orders for fish, I with a side of Mac n cheese and greens. My husband ordered the sides of Mac n cheese and sweet potatoes. I enjoyed the sweet potatoes over the other sides but all sides were good! We were given a number to take with us to our table and could sit either inside or outside. We chose to sit inside, as it was pretty warm outside. The restaurant was pretty spacious, very clean and had soft music playing in the background. I've been wanting to try this place and once I walked in I knew it was a smart choice. All the tables were full and there was a line to order. I chose the fried chicken with mac n cheese and collard greens. I splurged and got a banana pudding as well. The flavor on every item was fantastic! Nice place, clean great customer service. It's got a sewer smell but I'm sure that's not the their fault, so I got it to go. The cashier gave me water while I waited. The food was really good, but I cook better. But for take out, it's a definite try. I got the Friday special so I could try a few things wings and fish, substituted for mashed potatoes instead of fries, one dollar more, then the chicken and green and Mac and cheese, third side four dollars more, corn bread fifty cents more addition twenty five cents more, total 40.75, so a bit pricey, but worth it. I've been following this Instagram for a while. I finally made it in on Friday. After I tasted the food, I texted like 4 people asking if you had this food. Two said yes. I'm like, how did they not mention it! I had the daily special, smothered turkey wing and rice plus a whiting dinner. The fish was fried to perfection, in my opinion. The turkey wing was the drum portion of the wing. I prefer the flat. I tried to hate when I saw a green pepper. I'm not a huge fan, but let me tell you, it was delicious. I would have liked more rice for the gravy, but no worries, I can make extra rice myself. Everything was prepared well and, most importantly, seasoned well. The sides I chose were greens, green beans, yams and macaroni, and cheese. A lot of people say they can't find good soul food in Cincinnati. Well, Southern Grace is the place. The spot is clean and easy to access, and the service was friendly. There was a tiny bit of a lull when my name was called for my food, but there was no one there to hand it to me. We are regulars. I write this after my family has dined here probably 20+ times. It is near our home and offers home cooking that appeals to everyone in our home. I cook most days, but Southern Grace is our go to when mama needs a night off. Their creamy baked chicken inspired me to put that recipe in the rotation at home. Their baked turkey is heavenly. All the side are delicious, our favorites are candied yams and green beans. The cabbage and greens are also perfectly prepared. I love the fried catfish and the baked salmon. Southern Grace has mastered every item on their menu, my picky family is always pleased when we order out or dine in. The staff is friendly and attentive. I have loved Nickey Stevenson's food and vision for years. This was my first visit to the new spot and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the Turkey tips while my friend got the blackened salmon. We were both blown away- you could tell because the whole meal we were both going "you have to taste this!" The flavor was true to the soul food I know but with a number of unexpected twists. For example, the green beans had a lovely acid (lemon?) that really made them pop. The cabbage boasted a nice chili oil flavor. It was light on the salt, perhaps by design for those who are more sensitive to it, but when I added my own, I appreciated the depth of flavor that was there. I could happily buy a tub of the gravy that graced the mashed potatoes and Turkey tips- I'd put it on everything. In short, Southern Grace serves outstanding food. Stop in for takeout on Wednesday and was pleasantly surprised that even close to closing. They still had all food items in stock. Definitely enjoyed the fried shrimp, the batter they are cooked and was delicious. Everything else was really good, also tried the mac & cheese and collard greens. Homemade lemonade was a nice touch. Love the ambiance. The young girl I ordered with was very nice. Ended up trying it out for the first time on a busy friday during lunch, but the wait wasn't long at all. Ordered the catfish & mac & greens with cornbread and a watermelon lemonade. The drink was the star of the show. Greens were okay, but mac & cheese some of the worst I've had in a while cause why is it so watery and soupy? I had to waste that. The catfish was also too hard for my liking and lacking flavor. Today I had lunch with friends at Southern Grace Eats. It was delicious. It was also the second time I've been there. The atmosphere was very cool. The decor was sleek and the staff was welcoming and friendly. Two of My friends had Turkey with mashed potatoes and green beans. One had baked chicken. The cornbread is amazing. The serving sizes are very generous. I try to eat vegetarian and was disappointed that there was nothing on the menu I could eat. Never fear! I mentioned that to the cashier and she suggested the Black Bean burger - which is not on the menu. It was delicious. The Mac n cheese was amazing. The owner came to our table to check on us. She is delightful! When I mentioned the lack of vegetarian items, I was informed that the menu is getting an overhaul to include vegan options! This place is new- please give it a try! Went in on a weekend with out of town friends. This place does get really busy, so be prepared for a crowd and you also pay and have a seat. It is a nice abuanve tonthe place. Nice gospel music playing, but it is drowned out by the people. You must visit with patience because there are a million kids working there. I got wings, dessert and a few sides. The food is very good! The lemonade & ice tea are superb! My only negative with this establishment is that they don't have kid meals. Paying for an adult meal for a 6 yr old is wasteful and expensive. I suggest that they include 2 or 3 children meal selections in the future. read more
