30 MIN DRIVE TO THE WORST FOOD BY FAR, GREAT SERVICE. Family luncheon last weekend consisting of 10. I ordered the Chicken & Waffles expecting actual chicken; not a processed, pre breaded chicken pattie. I sent my dish back & opted for the house salad which had brown lettuce under fresh (word to the chef: lettuce turns brown quickly when knife cut, not so if shredded by hand). My sister ordered the Cod Fish & Chips w/ coleslaw. She received 4 slightly large, overcooked fish sticks (we laughed) w/ fries. She chose not to eat the fish. We were prewarned the coleslaw was awful, so she opted for a salad w/ no tomatoes (which she dislikes). He salad arrived w/ tomatoes which she picked out. Our great aunt (arrived from another city) ordered the meatloaf dinner w/ greens beans & mashed potatoes. She said the green beans had a metallic taste (possibly canned) & the potatoes were bland (possibly boxed made w/ water). Others in our party enjoyed the ribs, fajitas & quesadillas. My husband and I went to Christine's for dinner tonight as we have on many other occasions. We usually have a good dining experience but not tonight. The food was good but the service was very poor. Our server Marie was very rude and inconsiderate. We asked her if we could get a margarita at happy hour prices and she said no that it was too late. I told her that it was 5:57 and she held up her watch and said it was 6:00. I checked both of our phones and they also said it was 5:57. We told her that her watch was fast. She still would not let us have a margarita at happy hour prices. We said forget it. When our food came I had to ask for the cornbread I thought we had ordered. She only brought back only one cornbread. I said where is the other one she said "He didn't order one" and my husband said "you're right I forgot to order one". She walked away without offering to ask if he wanted her to bring him one. Again we went without because of her rudeness, Needless to say she only got half the tip she we normally would have left. We ordered takeout and it was amazing. The cheese quesadilla was very flavorful, not sure what cheese they used, but it was delicious. Their queso and chips were literally still nice and hot when we got home. It was nice to have nice and smooth queso and crispy still hot and fresh chips. The service was friendly and fast. Went to Christine's on the west side with our Y group Tuesday. Four of us had previously gone on Christmas and liked it so much we invited the rest of our group to try it. It was clearly a big hit. The menu is very diverse (Filipino, Mexican, American, and even breakfast). I enjoyed every aspect of my Filipino dinner. Every one raved about their food. I've been twice, and both times, I could not have asked for better service. Top notch! The food came out quickly both times, including when we had a party of 12. If you haven't been, please do? I hosted 15 people at Christine's Casual Dining last Friday, and it was amazing, as per usual! We had our own private enclave, the waitress was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly, and the food was spot on -- hearty American comfort food, like their epic meat loaf and mashed potatoes, authentic Filipino offerings, like pancit, eggrolls, and the luxurious halo-halo, Mexican and Italian offerings, like spaghetti and nachos, decadent desserts, and the creative combination meals (anyone up for a plateful of shrimp skewer, crab cakes, onion rings, and pancit?) All plentiful portions, made-from scratch, with an expertise that allows the great taste of each dish to shine. And served in a fun, upscale diner setting, with some playful decorations (I loved the welcoming alligator, and sign in the women's restroom, for example). We typically have had good meals but the last visit the fish sandwiches were overcooked and bread was soggy. Sides were pedestrian. My daughter is on a mission to try small businesses. We live in KY but made the trek up to Christine's one evening during the week. It wasn't a bad drive, about 30 minutes. Friendly little restaurant much bigger than I thought it was going to be. Older but clean. Our waitress Paula was attentive. Kept our drinks filled. Food was brought out fast. The one thing you can say about this place is that you will NOT go away hungry. You can even probably split an appetizer and still be satisfied, you get THAT MUCH food. Interesting mix of choices - Phillappine, Mexican and American. A wide variety to satisfy a variety of tastes. We started with Philippine eggrolls. HUGE and a large plate of them, I think 8. Very tasty and filled with ingredients. My husband had the fish sandwich. He said it was good, fish was a tad bit overcooked. The tarter sauce was tasty. My daughter had the fish tacos and said they were very good. I had the shrimp fajitas and I am not kidding when I say it could feed 3 people. The plate came out smoking hot, literally smoking. A large plate of toppings and 3 tortillas. With so much fillings given to you, 3 tortillas are not enough, but I was going to take most of it home, so it didn't bother me. Everything tasted great. Food: Some what good. Service: good. Ambiance: Great So the food was kind of good. My reasons are my Grandmas chicken was over cooked. She didn't like the sticky rice. Also the chicken had lime on it. That's at least what she tasted which that was not on the menu. My food was good the chicken was a little less cooked then I wanted it but it was fine. My grandpa got nachos he said their was to many onions on it. The drinks where good except they had no mango smoothie? Why? Anyway the waiter was great but when I asked for the wifi password I think she gave me the wrong one because both times it didn't work. The restaurant looked amazing it was pretty. This is a pretty casual place to eat. The place was busy which is a good indicator. There were a lot of older folks in there dining, it reminded me of MCL in that way but I am an older folk now so it is all good. My friend and I sat down at a table and the waitress came over to the table right away to take our drink order. I ordered a rum punch and it was delicious. My friend had an old fashioned. The menu has a lot of Filipino dishes. I ordered a lunch combo that came with pork skewers, Filipino soup, and I subbed beans for the rice. My friend had the fajitas. Lunch was good and flavorful and was at a decent price. The drinks were good as well as the service. Would I come back? Probably not but not because of the service or the food but I usually prefer a place that is a little more upscale. Great margaritas! We tried Mango, coconut and Lime...delicious! Don't forget Happy Hour is till 6! We order shrimp tacos, fish tacos and enjoyed this with deconstructed toppings so you made your own. The guacamole was three slices of avocado, picante and sour cream in separate bowls and also came with shredded lettuce on the side. Salsa had to be ordered as another side. The fish and Frieda's were very very good and also smelled heavenly!. The piece de resistance, the Halo Halo dessert. Ube ice cream is the best! Decided to give Christine's a try again tonight and was pleasantly surprised with the results. Everyone in my party (order was doordashed) enjoyed their meal. The to go packaging was much better and the coconut soup was bagged separately this time to prevent spillage. Love to see local restaurants take reviews/criticisms to heart and improve. I wish I took photos but we were starving and unfortunately/fortunately ate every last bite. Stopped by on our way to Hilton Head Island. It was a random stop after driving through I65 and all the construction headaches that come with that commute. It did not disappoint. We ordered halo-halo and it was delicious! Our server, Jinky, was polite and explained the history behind the restaurant. We were curious as to how a Filipino restaurant ended up in Cincinnati. The inside of the restaurant was decorated with Filipino items and it felt warm and welcoming. It's a gem in West Cincinnati. Been wanting to go and check it out. Christine the owner was so nice to meet us. She was 45 minutes away when I told her that we are stopping by. Called her staffs that we are coming and threw appetizers on the house. We enjoyed all our orders. Definitely a must stop whenever we are in town. Hands down some of the best food I've ever put in my mouth. We did order delivery this go around and food came quickly, hot and fresh. The egg rolls are so crunchy and flavorful with a delicious sweet and sour sauce and the fries are loaded to the heavens with toppings and flavor. Order was packaged neatly and came with napkins and utensils. I have ate in restaurant before and everyone was so kind, food came quickly to the table. Enjoyable ambience and once again the food was fresh and delicious. Could not recommend this place anymore. Christine's was on my list of restaurants to try ever since eating their halo halo dessert at the Asian Food Fest. My partner and I ordered the pork adobo and the "schmoe" sandwich for takeout. The pork adobo left something to be desired. It was bland and could use more soy sauce and vinegar. No complaints on the sandwich.
