Catfish entree and beef short rib entree (with sides)
Connie T.

The food did not disappoint, however the service was unsatisfactory. We got the fried catfish with fried okra and Mac and cheese-- added on wings and mashed potatoes on the side. First time having the fried okra here and it was good. I really liked the batter and the touch of ranch seasoning. Ambiance was okay. As far as service, it was not good whatsoever. Our server greeted us and gave us water then proceeded to not check on us for 15+ minutes. A big group came in during that time and he proceeded to take their order, to which I got up and asked the manager for help. She quickly handled that for us and got us another server. I really enjoy the food here but the service does not match up. With an automatic 18% gratuity added, I do expect a higher level of service.

Mac&cheese were amazing, yams were even better. However the fried chicken was too dry. I actually had a difficult time chewing it. The crispiness outside the chicken was fine, but it was the meat itself which was too rubbery. It mightve been just that one cut we tried or they fried it for too long or something. For the service, I think it depends on who you get, because Ive had a good and a bad one. Ambiance of the restaurant was pretty nice and I thought it would be a nice place to come for a southern food date night.

I was in town for a work trip and staff decided we wanted soul food! We decided to give Southern Fire Kitchen a try. We attem to make reservations in advance, but there weren't any available. We did a walk in and didn't have any issues being seated. When we arrived there was a bouncer outside that led us in to the person who sat us down. The vibe was just what I needed. Nice decor, TVs to watch the games, and the music was old school and new rnb. The food was so good! I ordered the wings with two sides and added an additional side and cornbread to share with my coworker. The greens had a slight sweetness to it, which I didn't care for, but the hot sauce helped to tame it down. The cornbread was decent. I tried my coworkers catfish and it was cooked to perfection. Im ready to return to GA, just to I can make another stop to Southern Fire Kitchen!

Whiting, candied yams, collard greens & macaroni & cheese

I dined here recently with some friends and really enjoyed it. It's located in a large shopping plaza on Buford Highway and plenty of free parking is available. The restaurant is small, so I highly suggest that you make reservations. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed an armed security guard outside and it threw me off. I get it though, it is Atlanta after all. Our server introduced herself promptly and asked if we wanted bottled water. We all ordered one, but noticed that other people had glasses of ice water. She never gave an alternative option, so we just assumed that they only had bottled water. To start, I ordered a watermelon margarita. It was good. To eat, I ordered the fried whiting with candied yams, collard greens and macaroni and cheese. The fish was fried to perfection and the yams were delicious! I really enjoyed the collard greens as when. The mac & cheese was just ok to me. The played a great selection of music and the service was fine. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. I'd definitely return.

We went for a friends birthday party and had to reserve several tables to accommodate the large group. The service was excellent but the restaurant was extremely hot and never cooled off. The lobster bites and lamb chops were excellent but the Mac and cheese was mediocre at best. The collard greens were fine but the portions were extremely smaller than the price and I was still hungry 30 minutes later

Wings and Cornbread

My sister and I visited Southern Fire Kitchen before we headed back to the airport. We did make a reservation before arrival and were seated immediately. This food was TOP TIER. Service was fast and quick and we had a great time. We got the wings and cornbread to share. She ordered the salmon while I ordered the catfish. Both were delicious and hot upon arrival and we got 4 different sides, green beans, yams, Mac n cheese, and collard greens (which were all FANTASTIC). We practically share the sides since we got different ones. 10/10 recommend this place. The vibe was also super cute with the R& B music. We visited back in February and are still talking about this food! I will definitely be back when visiting Atlanta again!

I've been here twice now and I do overall enjoy this restaurant but the reviews are correct. The restaurant itself is really nice I came in twice with no reservation and was seated relatively quick. Upon seating our server did take a little to come over (both times) and when they come over they take your order typically at that time (great for me as I was hungry). Only downside is once you get your drinks you probably won't see your server stopping by again until it's time for the food. We were seated next to the kitchen area I believe and there was an awful smell coming from somewhere. I started to get nauseous from it until we moved from sitting there. I'm not sure if it's something in the wall or what but it smelled awful. The food here is always superior I've never had anything I didn't like. The only downside none of the drinks get free refills. The food doesn't typically take long but oftentimes you don't get all that you ask for once it is brought and you have to remind them. We ordered cornbread but didn't get it until after we had our food. I assume it was forgotten. The menu states the included gratuity so be aware when paying. It does show you on the pad though but don't overtip by not paying attention. Our server was attentive when it came time to pay otherwise we had to stop her constantly just for simple things. The two servers that I had both times never came over just to check in. Overall, If you can get past the low grade service this is the place you should go.

The food was amazing! The service was just okay, did a walk in, I was asked if I had reservations, waited about 45 minutes to be seated only to walk in and see several tables available, once seated the waiter informed us that there is no free refills, never heard of that before, thank goodness the food made up for the mishaps, everything was seasoned good.

I really wanted to like this place, but I just couldn't get over the pricey Over cooked dried out salmon and twice fried catfish. We arrived pretty late on a Saturday night and I am assuming they were getting ready to close so they were doing their final orders and it looked like we received the last of what was there. The place look lovely, but the food was completely off.

Fried catfish with Mac and cheese, greens and cornbread

This place was busy but the staff were good. The restaurant is more of a local spot with a cozy decor. The food came out faster than our drinks. I had the fried catfish a little salty, Mac and cheese- good and seasoned, greens -mild favor and It had a crunch to them. Cornbread was good but dry. Overall it was a good experience and the food was good.

Coming into it, around early dinner time hour, it was fair to say a slow evening for a Saturday. This provided us a fair chance to be able to not feel rushed during this experience. Server and food runners were on point. Server knew the menu and what to suggest as popular meals and what his favorites were. He also informed us that food was made from scratch and the ribs were already sold out! Bummer as that would've been a go to choice! The restaurant it self seemed cleaned and a sleek look to it. We chose 2 fried chicken meals and steak and frite. These dishes were to brag about 100%, wish I could've met the head chef and supervisor on shift to let them how wonderful the food was and that the staff have great personality and professional! This chicken meals were beyond what could've fool me as a homemade chicken made by someone's grandma! The steak was cooked to perfection that could've melted in your mouth. Due to my son's birthday, the server offered a complimentary dessert for him to have! I recommend this place or their other locations 10/10!

I thought that was an immediate turn off. I feel like they could have maybe made that sound a lot more classy. One thing about me I'm going to try something in everyone's plate, especially if we all ordered differently. That was such a turn off. However, I did not order the all you can eat, in fact i ordered the same exact meal but as my dinner dish for 1 because realistically who is eating more then one once of ribeye along with a boat load of fries? I'm not. The bbq shrimp deviled eggs were good, if the shrimp was warm i feel like it would have tasted better. The oysters were really good, definitely enjoyed those. Ehh, the Ribeye i wouldn't go back to get in such a rush, the fries were crispy & well made. Now the lobster pasta!!! 10/10 nothing else needs to be stated for this dish! They also have a drink special that advertises $9 for the mini, makes absolutely no sense as it's about 3 sips & done, might as well order a regular martini to enjoy it with your meal.

At first there was a mix up with who was serving us do we got explained the drink menu twice. After our appetizer, we waited about 30-40 minutes for the rest of our items which took longer than we thought. They did give us some house made popcorn to keep us busy. Jahjoy pork belly: Tasty & tendor. I loved the papaya salad which left a refreshing contrast. A bit too saucy for me. Flavors were strong. Squid ink bucatini: our favorite! Must get dish - bucatini is perfectly al dente & the spicy sauce was very flavorful. Jumbo shrimp was delicious, and the anchovy on top left a nice strong flavor. Red snapper: This has some Vietnamese influences with the sauce. It was a lighter dish which was just OK for me, I would have liked the fish to have a crispier skin. Not much flavor besides the sauce which is inspired by canh chua. Wagyu flank steak: cooked to perfection and flavored well, loved the celery puree which was much tastier than we expected celery to be. Dessert was mint chocolate cake which was very tasty. I wish the cake was softer and meltier in the center but it was still good. Malt gelato was delicious. Could def taste the mintiness. Creme pat along the edges was a nice add to the cake with cacao nibs and popcorn for a textural contrast. I enjoyed it!! Overall we had a great meal and could tell the ingredients were very fresh. The presentation for all the dishes was beautiful!! We can tell the chef puts care in his food :) Appreciated the personal touch - they gave a handwritten card to my husband for his birthday!

Sorry, future Terra Terroir patrons, that table is ours now. We'll let you use it when we're not there. ;-) Our server was very pleasant. Sorry didn't catch her name. Our dinner included the Oysters and Okra appetizer. Proof you can fry anything and make it good. But the mustard dip/sauce that came with it was excellent (I say this as a non-mustard person). My husband's entree was the scallops. He enjoyed them. I had the KC strip steak with smashed yukon potatoes and forest mushrooms with a sauce and broccolini. I was not a fan of the broccolini (a bit bitter), but the flavors /seasoning of the rest of the meal made up for it. I had a citrus and a hibiscus mocktail. Not bad, but probably would just get a Coke next time. I cannot say enough about the fresh bread and butter. Heavenly. But why only 3 slices for two people? It's located in a shopping center next to Planet Fitness, so it was definitely not what I expected. Once you get to the back, though, there is a really nice patio/atrium and garden area that serves as the main dining room. It's a very pretty setting, although there was a patio heater right in the middle of the dining area that seemed to be more in the way of the waitstaff than anything else. When the "feels like" temperature has been over 100 degrees for weeks, I'm pretty sure those heaters could have been put away! We started with the charcuterie board, which was very good, although the cheese portions were VERY small for three people. I ordered the wedge salad with salmon. The salad itself was good, but it's pretty hard to mess up a wedge salad. Unfortunately, the salmon was definitely undercooked for medium, which was disappointing. I mentioned it to our waiter, but he pretty much ignored the feedback. My husband ordered a scallop dish and said it was excellent. His colleague ordered the salmon dish, which looked really interesting, although I'm not a fan of mint. He said it was very good. Portions are on the smaller side so don't expect leftovers. Pricing seemed adequate - relative to ATL overall. I made a 5:30 Saturday reservation, but we really didn't need one. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived and seemed to have plenty of staff. Unfortunately, the service was just okay. Our waiter was a little slow, particularly with refilling water, and considering how quiet the restaurant was, I expected better service. The setting is definitely the highlight, and there were some good dishes, but overall, the experience was just okay for me.

"A Wonderful Dining Experience at Danbi Seasonal Kitchen"…read more I visited Danbi Seasonal Kitchen today, and the food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, with each ingredient seasoned and balanced beautifully. The kale salad was a standout. Every ingredient had its own distinct flavor, and the tomatoes were especially delicious -- tangy, bright, and citrusy. Such a refreshing and flavorful salad! But my favorite was the Coconut Curry Scallop. The pan-seared Hokkaido scallops were absolutely top-notch -- perfectly seared on the outside while remaining tender and delicate inside. The combination with the creamy coconut curry was incredible. It honestly tasted like something you would expect at an upscale restaurant. If you want to experience elevated, restaurant-quality food with creative flavors, I highly recommend coming here. You can enjoy a variety of beautifully prepared dishes without needing to go to a formal fine-dining restaurant. I finished my meal with a hot, fresh mint tea, which was the perfect refreshing ending to a wonderful meal. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor.
