Chicken tacos on corn tortillas - delish!
Kathryn T.

Great spot in downtown Boone! We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and sat outside on the covered patio. They have a great beer list and a variety of food (with allergen-friendly options). I ordered the chicken tacos on corn tortillas with mango salsa, and they were delicious. The spicy mayo had a kick, but it was perfect. The rest of our table got the pulled pork flatbread, smash burger, and wings. Everyone was happy with their food. The fries were amazing. The service was a bit slow, but would definitely go back for a laid back spot to grab food or a drink.

Well Boone lucked out and got the solid Southend with the amazing vibe. We visit the one in GSO all the time, but this one is just a notch up! Happy to see some of the same entrees but also loved some different ones too. Service was outstanding! Loved the sit down section and the outdoor covered seating. Such a great time!

A group of us was walking around Boone checking out the different stores. We stopped by South End Brewing for a drink. The manager and bartender, Scott, was very friendly and constantly working. That definitely set the tone for a hard working staff. My friend and I ordered the Citrus Ranger and Blackberry Vodka Lemonade. Scott does 2 oz pours for the mixed drinks. We enjoyed the kick. If you use the same glass, there is a 25% discount on the next drink. We also spoke with the other bartender Kaylynn. She was also super friendly. We enjoyed our time there. 5 stars for the win!

It was a Saturday mid afternoon when visited. The place was busy but was seated pretty quickly. We had to wait 10 minutes before someone came for a drink order which arrived about 5 minutes later. We placed our food order and waited at least 1/2 hour to receive kitchen order. Our waitress did not check in with us. Another server noticed we were done and brought our check. The food was ok but nothing to rave about. Not sure we would return with all the choices in Town.

Excellent Service/Great Bartenders. I usually visit on weekdays when I am walking downtown.

I really loved the vibe of this brewery! We ended up sitting outside and I love the container where you could order beer instead of going inside. They had live music and plenty of seating. The light beer was really good and refreshing!

We just finished a fabulous lunch at South End Brewing! Highly recommend supporting this delicious and friendly establishment. Every single item that we ordered: wings, flatbread, pretzels, French fries, pulled pork sandwich, and hot honey chicken sandwich was really tasty. We were a party of 7 including 4 children, 2 of which were pretty cranky. Our server, Alex, handled everything with an understanding, cheerful and efficient attitude. We will definitely be back!

It might have just been the holiday rush, but I always figure "busy means good," so my expectations were high--and The Local didn't disappoint. We started with the nachos; they were delicious, though I do wish they came with a bit more meat. For mains, the burger was outstanding--probably one of the best we've had in the entire area. We also ordered the Brazilian steak, which was cooked perfectly and came with great plantains. The quinoa with tofu was good, too, though it was a little dry and would have been perfect with a sauce. The service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and refilled my water at least four times without me asking. Great ambiance and an all-around good experience. Definitely worth the wait!

Will 100% return and this is definitely a spot not to be missed. Also fantastic beer selection!!!

I wish I could give more stars…read more We were in town for our son's track meet which happened to fall on my husband's birthday. We wanted a nice place to eat that was casual because we were in track clothes. Everyone was super friendly, from the call about my reservation to the hostesses who greeted us and especially, Ethan, our server. I'm the kind of person who looks at the menu online before I go anywhere and already have in mind what I want. Shrimp burger. Need I say more? I had mine without the tomato and onion. Think crab cake but with shrimp. I assumed (and we know what that gets you) the shrimp would be minced and unrecognizable. Nope! There were like whole shrimp in this "burger"! The flavor was amazing. I think the lemon aioli added such a richness. I tried not to eat all of the amazing fries but the fries won. A complimentary shot of bourbon with peach schnapps was a kind gesture for the Birthday Boy. Can't wait to go back!

My wife and I was were welcomed in by the hostess and seated quickly. It's not a huge space, but they've got a good bit of seating, and a little more upstairs, which allows you to look down into the brewery. Our server, Alex was very friendly and offered some beer recommendations based on our preference. They had a good variety to pick from and even some canned to go. Their food menu also offered a good selection. My wife and I decided to share an order of loaded fries to start, and then the "white buffalo" pizza. I enjoy white pizza, and enjoy buffalo chicken pizza...but this was the first time I've ever seen them together. The food was great, everything, tasted really good, and had good flavors. The Game Day IPA and Lost Province IPA's were both also very tasty Being a Friday night, they had a live musician, playing great music, which we really enjoyed while we ate and took in the atmosphere. I'd pass this recommendation on as well, and would return to try some of their other varried menu next time I visit Boone

But I wiggled my vehicle into a tight spot and went in for a burger and a beer. I believe there were about 10 to 12 options available on tap, and I went with what was listed as an Irish stout from somewhere in the Northeast. It wasn't bad, though it seemed more like an imperial stout. My sandwich choice was the Cowboy, with ground elk at its core. It was a good choice too, and the accompanying fried onions and melted cheese complemented the meat well. I ordered the burger medium, but I think I'd go for medium rare if I could go back in time. The medium option wasn't bad, but I think a little less heat and a little more moisture would only make things better. I kept things simple with the side item, going for the fries which were of the thinly sliced McDonald's variety, not bad but nothing remarkable. The server covering my table was pleasant and prompt, though soft spoken so I occasionally had to ask her to repeat herself amidst the music and noise. I wouldn't call any of these selections a bargain, but the prices didn't veer too far from what you'll find in many burger joints. All in all, not an earthshaking experience, but a place I'd be willing to go back to. 3.5 stars.

We started with the pickled board, and it was just fun. A little bit of everything: pickled veggies, cucumbers with those pretty curls of onion, pimento cheese, bread, pork rinds, a little tomato jam. It felt like a Southern snack platter put together by someone who actually cares about balance and flavor. I ordered the pickled salad with chicken, and it was right up my alley. Fresh greens, great textures, pops of color, and the chicken was nicely seasoned and grilled. The dressing had that bright, tart thing going on that makes you want more of it. I would absolutely get this again. My husband got the Cassie salad, and while he said it was "fine," even he admitted everything was fresh and well done. The vibe here is relaxed, cozy, a little rustic, the kind of place that feels local in the best way. For a casual lunch in Boone, it hits the spot. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here. Skip to the end to see my rating scale…read more There are a few choices for breweries in Boone and Appalachian Mountain is a really good one. Mama and I each got a flight and we were both able to find one or two that made us want a full pint. They have a good variety of styles to pick from, so anyone should be able to find something that suits their taste. They have a generous amount of outdoor seating as well as a stage where they host live music. Dog friendly too, which is a big check in the box for us.
