Philly Jack Hoagie (with chicken and onion petals)

Honestly, I really wanted to like this place, (despite the reviews) but the food just didn't do it for me. Everything looked decent, but the flavors were super bland--like they forgot the salt and spices altogether. Nothing was terrible, just really underwhelming. The vibe of the place is super casual and low key. The bartender who waited on us was attentive but wasn't very friendly. But if you're going mainly for the food, it might leave you a little disappointed. Not the worst meal ever, but definitely not memorable.

The Black Jack's Burger

This may be the best burger in North Carolina. A thick, freshly made hamburger patty, cooked to order. Served with BBQ sauce, Pepper Jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. This is a flavorful burger with lots of add ons available. They offer a variety of burgers or build your own. Comes with chips, but you can choose hand-cut fries, pub chips, onion rings, etc. Very casual atmosphere. Good selection of draft and bottle beer. One of our favorite restaurants in this mountain town.

The baby and I mean BABY wing!

We come to this area once a year. I've brought friends and family each with various tastes. We have always thought it to be decent until this time. We sat outside which was nice. The service was slow to start, but picked up after we made mention that we were ready to order. My husband got the 6 wings to start. The wings were sooooo small it looked like baby bird wings. Seriously! 4 wings would equal 1 regular wing. I ordered the chicken Gyro. Lacking is all I can say. I should have taken a picture so you'd believe me. Cold chewy chicken cut into tiny pieces, diced onion, diced tomatoes, and olives. There was more pita than there was filling. The fry up charge is 4.99. ‍ I got the fry's and it was the best part of my meal. Of course they took the sandwich off my bill and the server was kind about it. I was not mad at her. HOLD PLEASE.....then the owner/manager comes out to question me! I explained the the sandwich was not worth $15 buy the fry's were good however, the ranch was like water. I used to work at a place where the owner questioned the customers about their meal and it was always embarrassing. The worst thing you could ever do is try to convince me that what you served me was good when I didn't like it. I won't be back.....

We walked in and were told to sit wherever we'd like to. Someone greeted us right away and came to take our drink order. We decided on a French fry basket for an appetizer since fries/pub chips don't come with entrees. A bag of potato chips is included in lieu of fries. My husband & I both ordered burgers. We weren't asked how we wanted them cooked and we also weren't asked which kind of cheese we wanted, so we both forgot to mention it and apparently by default cheese is not included on the burgers. We also ordered wings at the same time. My burger was pretty good, although a bit overcooked, and I was hoping for fresh guacamole but it tasted a lot like the kind you buy at the grocery store. The wings ended up coming out about 20 minutes after our burgers, but she kindly took 30% off the bill because of that. I think their kitchen must be pretty small because they weren't packed but everything was kinda slow to come out. This place is a bit expensive for what you receive, in my opinion. However, the ranch is something to write home about!! It's my favorite kind, when you can tell it's house made and a tad bit loose/watery.

Awesome outside seating and dogs are welcome outside. Right on the main drag Jefferson Ave. Voted Best Burgers according to a sign, the smell made us stop and the Cali burger did not disappoint. Kayla was our server and she did a fantastic job, she was sweet and hustling to take care of the Labor Day Monday crowd. We loved the outside vibe of a busy downtown.

Walked in here after a day of shopping and was pleasantly surprised with all the cool decorations. They even had a jukebox that you could pick songs from your phone on. We were told to sit wherever and the waitress came over rather quickly and took our order. I didn't know if I wanted a burger or their "famous" wings, so we got both. The burger only came with a side bag of chips (should be a crime) so we had to get an appetizer order of fries. The fries were relatively bland and just overall had a weird texture too them. Burger came out and was extremely overdone and dry. Bacon on the burger was decent and I was happy they used fresh Jalapeños and not pickled ones. I had finished my burger and the waitress came out and said the wings would be another 10 minutes. It ended up being about 20 and I just asked for a box as I was no longer hungry. I ended up trying one before we left and it was halfway decent but nothing to write home about. Average food at best, service and environment was decent. I'd probably try another place if I come back to this area

The staff was incredibly friendly and we were very happy to see them bring out a water bowl for our pup. Love to see business being dog friendly!!! The service was prompt and food was piping hot and fresh. Everything we tried was delicious. I had the trout (figured there was a lot of trout fishing around so it should be good) and we split the sweet potato bites. Didn't try any of the beers as it's not part of the current diet but we plan on coming back to do so.

My wife had the pot roast, which is excellent. I had the meatloaf, which hands-down is the best meatloaf I've ever had. It was not greasy, it was not slathered in ketchup. It had a great flavor, and there was even a little char around the edge of the meatloaf, which gave it added texture that is just phenomenal. Fun fact: there are two locations about a block away from each other. One is the restaurant where you can get all of their beers, and a full menu. That is where we went. The other one is the brau haus, which is basically mostly beer and some food, I.e. pizza.

Mama and I each got a flight and we were both able to find one or two that made us want a full pint. They have a good variety of styles to pick from, so anyone should be able to find something that suits their taste. They have a generous amount of outdoor seating as well as a stage where they host live music. Dog friendly too, which is a big check in the box for us. It might have just been the holiday rush, but I always figure "busy means good," so my expectations were high--and The Local didn't disappoint. We started with the nachos; they were delicious, though I do wish they came with a bit more meat. For mains, the burger was outstanding--probably one of the best we've had in the entire area. We also ordered the Brazilian steak, which was cooked perfectly and came with great plantains. The quinoa with tofu was good, too, though it was a little dry and would have been perfect with a sauce. The service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and refilled my water at least four times without me asking. Great ambiance and an all-around good experience. Definitely worth the wait!

They did not skimp on toppings. Staff was friendly, food was good, only complaint is it was very dark inside, and surprisingly loud in the restaurant, I can't imagine being there with live music, I assume it would be impossible to have a conversation.

Title: First (and last) visit to Cascade Draft House - rude bartender ruined it…read moreWe walked into Cascade Draft House on a sunny Friday early evening--first time, just my husband and me, excited to try local beer. Another customer handed us a menu, but it took forever for the bartender to come over. When he did, we said it was our first visit and asked for help. He suggested a couple options, poured two samples for my husband. He walked off to help another ( no biggie) I didn't care for his sample choices. I took a minute to decide, I picked mine and when the bartender brought my samples, I thanked him, he snapped, "You need to hurry up and pick one." We were floored. My husband asked if me he really said that. When he came back we ordered two of the same beer. My husband approached him calmly about his rude comment. The guy shot back, "You've had like six samples already," (4) then added, "The more samples, the more dishes I have to wash." Like we're the problem for ordering in a brewery. He laughed and joked with regulars outside--chatting, pouring beers--but treated us like we were wasting his time. We he brought our beers my husband approached him again and he said " I'm not trying to be a dick". My husband said "oh it must be busy", the bartender replied yes it's busy and I can't do orders and run the cards all at once. This is a no brainer job, as I've done it before, it doesn't get easier unless you're paid to sleep. Place wasn't even busy: eight at the bar, a party of five out back, three tables came in after we ordered. The atmosphere was relaxed, smiling and joking. Not us. We ordered a total of three beers (the dishes!) I watched this guy waste more beer by pouring it, not paying attention to what he was doing. The four samples we had didn't even create 1/4 of a cup. A woman came over to cash us out she was warm, friendly. While we were there she kept glancing over like she knew something was off, she might've heard his rude comments. The beer was very good out of Kingsport Tn, but we won't go back. The Pinnacle area has Kickback Jacks and Monroe's that also have great beer specials. Not to mention the other places downtown that serve drinks. That bartender's lucky we stayed--only because we didn't want to cut our day short, my son was with us and was enjoying some time walking around downtown area. Zero tip, I feel bad if they have to split tips at the end of the night. One bartenders rude, uncalled for, unacceptable behavior ruined it for others. I'm in Bristol once a week, have my favorite coffee shop, shopping area, a place to go for a cold one is now still in the works. If you're new, skip this place. The beer might be good, but the attitude's poison.
