    Tempeh tacos

Cute little restaurant! They have beautiful bathrooms, outdoor and indoor seating. Dogs are welcome.. and treated to great service as well! There were so many selections on the menu I wanted to try. Sadly I had to choose just one. I ordered the tempeh tacos ... they were soooo good. Every bite. I'm sure I'll be back!

A lot of the brunch places which open early were already full, but when I popped into this place around 11, it was not (yet). They had a patio and an indoor area, which were not all that different in temperature, but notably the patio allows dogs. The menu here offers ample options for all diets. I still felt a bit lame ordering a salad called the "Veganista", but when it came I took one look at it and thought "that is what food is supposed to look like". The greens tasted fresh, and my overflowing plate included fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, some tempeh, and a couple of slices of spiced avocado toast. If there are any food groups not represented there, it's probably not something you should be eating. It all mixed together rather delightfully and made for a good start of the day. You certainly don't have to be vegan to eat here, but if you are and you want to eat somewhere where your non-vegan friends will be looking longingly at your plate, this is the place.

    Tomato soup and grilled cheese

$16 for a half cup of tomato soup/grilled cheese is a robbery, respectfully. Staff is really nice though.

    Curry

This place is great! The Garam Masala Yellow Curry was absolutely fantastic--rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The burgers were also delicious! On top of that, the service was friendly and attentive. If you're in Boone, this spot needs to be on your list!

Watauga Burger- cooked perfectly and flavorful! Jalepeno, ginger, and cilantro margarita tasted and smelled fantastic! There was a bit of a wait, but the beautiful and patient bartender ( Manager or Owner?) allowed us to sit at a hightop table and serve us there. All 4 of us loved our meal, drinks & service! Highly recommend!

We wanted healthy and colorful, and we got it! Wonderful lunch patio with dog after morning hike. Had Souper Special and Santa Fe salad. Great vibe and service!

Food quality / price (value) rating 10. The atmosphere is eclectic, and they have a wonderful outdoor seating area. The menu is a wide ranging mix of extraordinarily well chosen dishes, all of which have unique twists you won't find anywhere else! I had the Grilled Cheese Extraordinaire with bacon that came on a perfectly grilled locally baked bread. It was quite likely the nest grilled cheese I've ever had. A cup of spicy homemade sweet potato corn chowder came with it, and was a perfect accent to go with the grilled cheese. They have a full bar and a wide variety of canned and bottled beers. Their specialty cocktails include several unique and original recipes, including a special method that freezes water at the bottom of the cocktail glass where it remains while you drink your cocktail - very clever and original. We finished our meal with a couple of house made blueberry sugar cookies that were fantastic! The manager, Carrie, was very attentive answering our questions and informative regarding the food and its preparation and local sourcing. Our server, Kacya, was also attentive with the service we were given. The prices were right, and the portions were generous. This restaurant deserves a rare rave review.

I feel bad giving this really cute restaurant 3 stars. but the problem is the food! The restaurant is so cute and I think the menu is great. I love how there are so many healthy options. They also have a beautiful porch. I can see why people like it here! However, I think the food is really low effort compared to the price. The chips we got were *actually* just cold Tostitos chips straight from the bag. I was actually shocked lol. I would at least buy restaurant style chips. Or even warm them up! The entrees were fine but not good enough to fix my opinion. Also, the desserts come from the freezer (they bought them from a bakery and froze them). And that's totally fine! I just didn't get that impression from the menu.

    Watagua burger and salad

Staff, food and drinks amazing. Quick service over all and no complaints on anything! Wait time was no time on a Saturday after 1.

This sums up the attitude. Am I a customer or a visitor to your basement bar. " Bad Bi*#ches run this s*#t". Are you kidding me ?

Dori and I were looking for lunch one day while visiting Boone, and ended up in FARM, mainly due to visiting Boone Belles right next door. What was an accidental encounter turned in a fantastically spiritual experience. Like all my write ups, I am giving my opinion based on the type of restaurant, service level expectation and the price. The business model is to feed everyone who walks in whether you can pay for it or not. You can eat for free, pay $10 (or as much as you like), buy food tokens to leave in the token jar (passing on a meal) or work off your food in the kitchen or helping out... again as much or little as you want. The atmosphere is what your would expect in a cafeteria with folks servicing you off the line. The food is fresh farm to table and you only pay $10 for your meal, of which they have few options and basically tell what you can order. ... the food for the price was exceptional. There were folks from all walks of life from well off families to homeless folks off the street. The tables are tight and few in number, but not so much to be instructive. They are close enough to do one of my favorite things, meeting people and hearing their stories. So eat, meet and move on to make room for others. You really can miss it if you do not know it's there...look for it tucked away between Boone Belles and the Horton Hotel. In summary, if you are looking for a different dinner adventure, a good meal for services and price, and want to do some good in the world please check out the FARM Restaurant.

I tried to go back this year, and am so appalled by the customer service (or lack thereof) that I will now give it 0 stars, so settled for two since I can't do two and a half. Yes, the food and ambiance were wonderful in 2025. I tried to book another afternoon tea party and called a month and a half in advance. This was to celebrate multiple birthdays with a group of busy moms so wanted to get it on the calendar. No one called me back despite the voicemail saying that we would hear back "promptly." I left two more messages in a span of two, three weeks and still nothing. I even emailed, no response. Finally, a friend stopped by in person and was told that the cafe would be short staffed the weekend we wanted the reservation for so the manager needs to see if there are enough people working before confirming. Okay....but why wouldn't you call back to tell me that? Our requested reservation is tomorrow and I still have not heard back from anyone. This is abysmal customer service. As mentioned, food was good but not good enough to treat potential customers like this. Hard pass from now on and will not go back or recommend. *Editing to respond to Victoria -- those were the dates I called and left voicemails. Perhaps there was a phone issue on your end, but I did not even get a missed call. My friend who stopped by in person spoke to a manager. She had to go by twice due to the manager not being available the first time. I also did not get an email response.

This was one of very few small businesses that had yet to reopen when we visited. So we wanted to stop in and show our support by buying some gifts and a cup of tea. Still in the process of reestablishing, their new space is coming along nicely. Lots of pretty jewelery, trinkets, crystals, various gifts and even a small selection of plants. It appears that multiple talented artisans sell their work here. I've wanted a Rose of Jericho for a long time, but had resisted buying one so far. There are reports that much of what is available on the market has been poached from wildlife. But when one of the owners noticed my interest in them, he told me how when they were finally allowed to come back after the hurricane, they opened the door to their flooded shop to see all the Rose Of Jerichos alive and floating in the water. "I knew right then that we were going to be ok." I was sold and will cherish mine, with this sentiment attached. I also bought myself a new little Pilea for my Fairy Garden, some beautiful earrings, and a handful of gifts for my loved ones. I snagged a hot tea as I paid for purchases and then used their clean restroom before we headed out into the wilderness for the day. This seems to be another favorite amongst the Appalachian Trail pack, and I can see why. Im looking forward to coming back later in the season and seeing their progress in rebuilding.

Their bartenders are, to a person, superlative. Haley, Lexi, and Emily (still in-training, though…read moreshe has more-than-ample experience) were all professional and delightful this Boonerang weekend. If only the establishment would spring for cable during the World Cup, my experience of The Social as a "sports bar" would've been unparalleled compared to the other pretenders who decided the U.S. Open was the only "sport" worth airing. If I'd only come for wings and such, I'd've had no notes. But guys, your salads are culinarily (and decidedly) confused. My burrata was delivered atop a spiral of beefsteak wedges, nestled among wild greens, with zero seasoning, which is a hate crime when it comes to tomatoes; golden beets would've elevated it considerably, normally without much consideration... however. I'd thankfully chosen to add salmon, which was cooked to perfection, saving the dish. Haley suggested salt and pepper, which was a clutch move. Given the pleasant part of my previous experience, the salmon salad I ordered two nights later was even more discombobulated. Emily asked what kind of dressing I'd prefer, and I managed to avoid recoiling from the options provided: bleu cheese, ranch, thousand island... and then, finally, a cilantro-lime vinaigrette - the only suitable option. Instead of a deep plate, this was served essentially as a "bowl" that one might receive from delivery, only in a ceramic vessel. "Crispy" garbanzo beans (?!) were in one section of the plate, worse green olives than came with my martinis in another, four sad cucumber slices and pickled red onions in yet another, and in the saddest section, under-cooked yellow beets - half-run through a mandoline to make matchsticks, only still-connected at one end into slices to make Hell-deemed beet sporks. Again, all atop mixed greens, which are commonly available, even at Wal-Mart. I didn't deign to more than glance at my neighbors' plates, for fear I'd take even more offense, but the people making food at The Social are either under-staffed or inexperienced, as being unserious would likely wash out if anyone were to pay attention. Regardless, management is to blame for such disappointing experiences, and not their cooks, and certainly not their bartenders. Do better by Boone, and stop reinforcing the notion that standards are somehow lower in the High Country. Don't make me go to Macado's when I visit again next year.
