I get why these reviews are low--I realize a lot of people hate on Panera. I don't get the hate on the brand but I do get why this location has low ratings. My order was missing onions, which comes standard on the toasted frontega chicken sandwich but that's not why the review isn't great. We ordered a kids grilled cheese--the sandwich is best described as taking bread and throwing it into a microwave to melt the cheese. The bread wasn't toasted, it was just warm and felt wet. The service was okay--there was a guy behind the counter who didn't greet us so we didn't know if he was ready for our order or what. It was confusing. read more

Not sure why this location has so many poor reviews. It may partly be due to the area - most places I've visited locally have also had bad reviews. And I'm not seeing a reason for them, while visiting. This Panera was busy, and the service was quick and efficient. The server seemed to assume that I was very familiar with them. I'm not. This is my 4th or 5th time ordering at a Panera, and there is a fair amount involved. She was friendly, tho. I ordered a Mediterranean sandwich. It was good. There isn't much to it. Ordered a couple salads at lunch on 3/12/22. Place was basically empty (cold and a little snowy kept the crowds out today). The kids working barely acknowledged and we're just playing around the whole time. Order two salads totaling $26+ (one with extra chicken). Bowls were barely half full. My order with extra chicken had, literally, four small slices of chicken. Is this the way Panera operates now? Raise the prices and cut portion sizes in half? Or, we're these kids just lazy, too concerned about socializing, and half assed the order? Either way you won't get my business again with service and portions like this at ever increasing prices. Always an avid Panera goer - this Boone location is always pretty standard, fast and consistently good. Often very busy due to the college traffic. It can sometimes result in a hard time finding a seat and can be loud (but is that normal for Panera?) Today at 3:30 I visited the Boone location and stood at the counter for 5 minutes while I watched 4 employees walk by without acknowledging me. Walked down to the drink counter to find some help, no luck. Finally walked out of this establishment for the last time. It is inexcusable to ignore customers. I have been to Panera Bread in Boone, N.C. twice in the last three weeks. Many problems existed with cleanliness, food quality and staff morale. In one of these visits a late 20/early 30-something year old man working there was being difficult and haughty with his fellow workers. When he left while I was waiting for my food the staff was relieved to see him leave. I know restaurants are having major staff issues this year in this college town; however, Panera Bread would be better off opening fewer hours and having the needed staff during those hours. Also, it is wise to not have a staff person who 'poisons' the atmosphere for fellow workers. This restaurant was one of the best and most pleasant places to eat in in the past. Now it is worse than many of the fast-food places. That is saying something especially at their prices. I can't recommend anyone go there now. read more

The restaurant was not clean. The seats are worn out and some ripped. My kids wanted ham and cheese but they no longer serve ham! How can a sandwich place not have ham! I ordered the Turkey Avocado BLT. They didn't have any bacon! My husband got the BBQ sandwich. They didn't have any onions! Something is very wrong at the Boone Panera. They have no bacon, no basil and no croutons. The last one got me laughing, they're a bread store! How can you not have croutons? I went to Panera bread to simply order my meal and mind my business. An older grouchy woman named took my order and was nothing but rude to not only me but to her fellow employees. I don't know if she's a manager but if so she certainly isn't someone who would make me feel inspired to go to work and be the best version of my self. This is a decent meal. About what you would expect from a Panera bread. The food was prepared quickly even though the restaurant seem d packed when we arrived. Among our group we had two different types of soup, a Cuban sandwich, and Mac and Cheese. All of our meals were good, but nothing you would rave about to your friends. I got a sandwich to go. The food was prepared quickly - that's a plus. On the other hand, when I opened the wrapper it was clear that the sandwich was prepared with no thought about what it would taste like. The mayo was very thinly spread and on only part of a bread slice, there was a small piece of avocado in one corner, a chunk of turkey on another part, a dollop of bacon bits strewn around, and one thin slice of tomato on top of the piece of turkey. In short, the sandwich was dry and tasted bad in spite of the ingredients being fresh. When I paid $7.50 for half of a sandwich, it should have been better than this. I've never had bad food at a Panera before! Perhaps this store's manager can encourage the people constructing the food to take a few more moments and give a little more attention, so the food actually tastes good. read more

First of all, let me say that I am a very tolerant person. I can't remember ever writing a negative review. But in this case I was compelled after a week has passed. My husband and I ordered the broccoli soup. We were told it wouldn't be ready for 2 hours. This was Sunday at about 3:00. We selected a different kind and chose our second choice of the "choose two." I ordered a turkey avocado BLT sandwich. My husband ordered the strawberry fruit salad. When we sat down at our table, I didn't have any avocado on my sandwich or bacon. I had to make two trips to the serving line before they got my sandwich right. I actually waited at the counter for the corrections while my soup was getting colder by the minute while several servers stood and talked about other things without attending to my request. A server said she would have to see if they had bacon. I was given broken up crumbs of bacon that weren't meant for a sandwich. My husband's salad was as dry as dust. It had no dressing on it as many of their salads usually do. We purchased drinks... another surprise! There was no iced teas available. There was about a cup of icky looking iced coffee. So I decided to get a Diet Pepsi. The liquid came out clear. I asked a male worker about it thinking he would refill the machine. He just looked at me from behind the counter and said, " I guess it's empty." I got a regular Pepsi. I wondered what a diabetic would do? By the way, our soups were getting colder before we had our other surprises! There were no napkins ANYWHERE! I asked and a guy turned around to the hand washing station for employees and tore off one small section each for me and my husband of brown paper towel. The reason I got up for a napkin was that the booth seat had liquid dropped on it. We were told by a worker that sometimes their delivery trucks don't come. No one seemed to care about the mistakes. They should have informed us that they had basically no drinks and other problems when we ordered. I am willing to bet that they didn't think we'd miss two ingredients on the sandwich. We will never eat at this location again! I was very polite. BUT this was ridiculous! It seemed that there was no leadership. There were 5+ people working the food, and 2-3 other taking orders. Everyone in a moderately long line was waiting patiently only to be told by the cashier that they would only take "to go" orders because there were no tables. The only person who was pleasant during our visit was the one who took our order. She smiled & was genuinely happy. The girl mopping gave glares that could kill. The girl draining the teas grunted at us as we asked if we could have some tea. Wow, that's crazy. I thought y'all closed at 9! Oh wait, that IS when you close! Apologies for being a paying customer, but just remember that paying customers are what makes your paycheck. Smiling, being semi-decent & even the slightest bit pleasant towards customers might be a little easier with that thought in mind. Also just to note, I work in food service. One of the nicest things about Paneras is the atmosphere. Great place to chillax, sip coffee, read the paper or surf the Internet. Their food is tasty, too. A bit pricy for a breakfast; but, the quality of their egg soufflés are worth it. The salads and sandwiches are delicious, as well. Food is nicely prepared and not served with plastic forks or knives. It is also a great place for conversation with family and friends. read more
