great service very precise did a great job on my vehicle and was no headache. highly recomemeded

The owner's attitude was extremely rude and unprofessional. He acted aggressively, almost like a gang member, and even struck my car very hard. I would never recommend this place. read more

Reading these reviews and it's hard to believe that anyone had a good experience with this man. He was very unprofessional poor communication had my car for three months when he was supposed to have it for two weeks, and I got it back with more issues than it had when I gave it to them, I would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE. read more

My license plate fell off and I got so frustrated trying to put it back on myself. I brought it over to South Bay Auto Body and they immediately replaced all the screws and put it back on securely at no charge! They are the nicest and most helpful people ever! read more

South-bay Auto has been my go-to since moving to Boston some 8 years ago, not only for my vehicles but my peers as well... Danny always puts his best foot forward--and is very accommodating around the auxiliary details when getting your vehicle repaired (I.e. help with rentals and coordinating with insurance, etc.) This is where you get your car fixed like new every time... they set the bar high. I've used other shops in the past... this is where you want to go... "soup to nuts" these guys'll take care of you and provide a quality of service that is increasingly hard to come by these days. Five stars every time. read more

Amazing service!! This is the only place I will be taking my car to from here on out. The employees are honest and trustworthy, and the prices are fair. I'd recommend South Bay Auto to anyone. read more

Haven't yelped in years, but this place was just too good to not write a review. Danny and his guys are absolutely amazing!!! I managed to put a good dent into my trunk/bumper and didn't go through insurance (nothing was wrong with the other vehicle and I have too many points on my insurance). Thought it would be the end of my Goldie, but Danny worked it out so well I was happy to spend the money to get her fixed. Took slightly longer than expected, but no complaints here-I was kept in the loop the entire time and quite honestly, it was probably better for the world that I was off the road for a bit. I swear the car looks better now than it did before the accident. Would absolutely recommend this place 110% and they've got a customer in me now for life! read more

I have taken my 535xi bmw to Danny on two separate occassions. I am taking it to him for a third time in the coming week because of another mishap. A series of unfortunate events, you could say. There is no shop or person I would trust other than DANNY to work on my vehicle. The service at South Bay Auto is superb. Not only was my car done in a timely manner both times, but my car came back to me looking brand new, as if an accident had never occurred. Paint chips unrelated to my accident were repaired and my car was in the best shape it had ever been in. Everyone working at South Bay Auto is knowledgeable and an expert at their craft. If you have a BMW I suggest you take it here. Not only do they specialize in BMW repairs, but many of the people who work there drive BMWs so they especially take pride in bringing the car back to it's original beauty and state. I give DANNY and South Bay Auto 5 stars for the ease of transaction, pleasant and friendly staff and quality work done on my vehicle. Thanks, Danny! read more

Took my car over to South Bay Auto inquiring about repairs to front bumper and headlight on driver side (hit & run). A man who stated he was part owner came out to inspect the car while on the phone with the owner. He pointed out the obvious damages and without further detailed inspection, he said I would need more work done internally as well. He proceeded to chat with owner, gather my information and send pictures of the damage. The owner said he would contact me via email with the estimate. Later on in the day he had contacted me and we discussed the estimate which I thought was rather steep (1750.00 Also charged for parts I did not need). Ultimately I chose not to go with South Bay Auto because I felt as though the pricing (which by the way the owner did offer some discount) was not appropriate for the work I needed done. Now I am no professional mechanic but I am crafty and I know a lot more about cars than someone just looking at me would think I know. The fact I chose this place was because of some pretty good reviews. However I am rating this place accordingly because I would like for people to know of my true experience. The owner was definitely prompt which is why I rated 2 stars. On the other hand, I went to another auto body shop that is pretty reputable in the Dorchester area and at no cost they heated the bumper and buffed the scratches out and fixed the light. Soon I will upload photos and write an amazing review on how they did! If you choose to go to South Bay Auto, please read over your estimate whether paying out of pocket or through insurance. I hate to say it but some Auto Mechanics are just scammers. Even if you go through insurance there is a threshold at which a certain amount can affect your policy! Good luck to all.. Great work, great customer service, and a roof that's nice and reapired. They'll take good care of you.

Only got minor paint work done (for a scratch) and a couple of estimates over the course of a few years (one a few years back, and one more recent). Overall, however, they made a solid impression - competent and straight forward. Also the estimates were about 25% less then other shops and I had shopped around a bit. Update: went back again in August 2014 for a complete fender replacement and paint job on an older Honda where someone side swiped me. $225 for parts and labor included and 1 day turnaround and looks great. I really like this place. A+ read more

I'd definitely recommend this place. Bert is just a nice guy and he always gives me a reasonable price. Last year I broke my tail light and the dealer wanted to charge $200 - Bert did it for $75. Getting the side mirror on my boyfriend's car fixed now and the dealer quoted $400 and suggested we go somewhere else to paint it. Bert offered to paint it and quoted us $360. We just picked up the car and he said he actually got it done for cheaper! Total cost: $160! Woo-hoo! He and his team are fast and I haven't been disappointed. read more

Whenever my car is in an accident I can always count on South Bay Auto to repair the damages efficiently and tactfully. My car has been hit over six times, and each and every time I call Danny and he tells me to bring it in whenever I can - I honestly never go anywhere else. Thank you for being diligent and for returning my car back to me in excellent shape! read more

After I got into a car accident in January, I took my car here to get fixed based on the good reviews and close proximity to my apartment. At first everything seemed great, Danny returned my calls when I left voicemails and was always friendly. But then things started going a bit down hill. I stopped getting phone calls with updates and found myself having to consistently call and ask what the status of things were. In addition, originally I was given an estimate of getting my car back in about 2-3 weeks - I didn't end up getting back until the beginning of March, when it had been there for six weeks, almost seven. I recognize it takes time to order parts, other projects come that require more attention, etc. My biggest issue was that I was told my car would be ready on multiple occasions, and then when I showed up, I was turned away for one reason or another without my car. A few times the wrong rims were sent - fine, that happens, but then I started getting told that they were waiting to do the alignment. I finally had to insist that I pick-up my car because we were moving out of state. When I did, I was told everything was fixed and fine... The body work done to my car was great - very well done, no complaints there. However in the process of fixing the body of my car, it is clear the team tampered with/did not properly fix other parts of my car, which have now caused serious damage: 1. Probably most importantly is that since getting my car back from this shop, whenever it rains heavily, the front seats become absolutely soaked - seats and the floor. Yesterday I got into my car after work, and the floors were soaking wet. The passenger seat floor had a puddle of water. Before taking my car to this body shop, I have NEVER had this problem. I'm not sure if they didn't put weather stripping back on the door after they painted it or what, but it is a serious problem. The car now constantly smells and the people we brought it up are concerned that is has molded, meaning the carpet has to be entirely replaced. 2. Probably equal important is that the alignment on my car - which was one of the reasons I had to wait to get my car - was never done. Whenever I go over 50 mph, the wheel on my car shakes uncontrollably. 3. The most interesting thing I noticed after getting my car back from the shop was that the buttons for my electrical sunroof were no longer working/had been switched. The button I would normally push to open the sunroof doesn't work. The only way to get the sunroof to open is to press the same button you would push to get the sunroof to tip up. Hmmm... What is most baffling about this is that none of the work my car needed was electrical, it was all body work. So, why if the team only performed body work on my car, is an electrical thing all out of whack. To be clear, since getting my car back from South Bay Auto, I have not gotten into any other sort of car issues that would cause the issues I outlined above. Not even a flat tire so I cannot help but wonder what the team at South Bay Auto did/did not do my car. By the time I was begging to pick it up, it had been there for nearly 7 weeks. And when I did pick it up, I was told everything on the car was fixed. I'm not sure what happened here, but let me tell you, it ain't good.... read more

South Bay Auto - After taking my car to South Bay Auto, this is what my passenger side floor looks like every time it rains. Completely soaked and smells. - Body Shops Near Me - Dorchester, Massachusetts

I had first heard about them from a friend who did a complete makeover of his Merc there and it was impressive. So when my Merc's front bumper got damaged, I requested a quote. The price was reasonable and Danny promised to get the work done in much less time than the other shops. Did a great job with my front bumper. Also touched up on minor work even without my suggesting so. I was initially skeptical of doing any work besides the Merc dealership I go to. But I am blown away by their exceptional customer service!!! I would definitely recommend and go back to this place in future if my car needs any work. read more

I agree with many of the others who've yelped about SBA: Danny and his South Bay Auto team get the job done. He's an honest, personable guy, tells you the facts, not merely what you might want to hear, and that's admirable. Worked with me and the specific repairs I wanted done to my 1998 Volvo and his team delivered, even going so far as to throw in a free wash and some license plate nuts into the mix. Though I hope NOT to have to resort to SBA in the near future--because that would mean...another accident--I highly recommend them if your car needs to be fixed. read more

I had a great experience with South Bay Auto during a stressful time (dealing with an insurance claim, getting my car fixed). Danny and everyone else at this shop are very friendly and did an amazing job with my car. I am very satisfied with the work that was done and with the price. Thank you, thank you!!!!!!! I recommend this place for sure. read more

Dropped my car off to get some body work done. They did a Fantastic Job. Answered the phone anytime I called and I got my car back the day they said it would be ready. They work with Enterprise who will pick you up...pleasant bonus. Again, well taken care off. I recommend them 100% read more

worst auto body shop ever. Owner told me the car should be done in two weeks i didn't get my car back until a month later which is terrible. The owner is very unreliable. while fixing my car he left the states twice and was unresponsive. One of the worst shops you can honestly go to. read more

This place is a total disaster! First, they don't return your phone calls and they can't keep their promises. I dropped off my car on Thurs and left a voicemail on Monday to ask when my vehicle will be ready. Comes Wed and they never returned my phone. So I called on Wed and the owner Burt answers the phone with an annoying voice and said your car will be ready by Thurs at 3pm. Now Its 5pm on Thurs and I never hear from the shop so I call them and they say your car will be ready by 530pm. I specifically told the owner, Burt that I need the car by Thurs bc I will be out of town. Anyways...I sat at the shop waiting for my car until 7pm, watching the guys rush to put the front bumper on my car. This place is horrible. Poor communication and time management. Also their work is not great, they use cheap parts. I will never return!! Don't recommend it to anyone!!!! read more

I brought my Audi S5 to the shop for repairs after I was hit by a teenage driver. The first thing that I immediately noticed was the outstanding customer service. The shop owner Danny took the time out to explain what was damaged on my car and what he would do to repair it. He even had one of the shop guys drive me home instead of me having to wait for an Uber. My car was repaired back to new condition in just 3 days!!! I highly recommend this auto body to anyone who is looking for great customer service and quality body work. read more

Went there twice to get an estimate for a damage done by a mechanic. Twice they sent me away with no estimate. What a waste of my time.

Danny and the South Bay Auto team are absolutely fantastic and highly recommended. I do not know much about cars and went to South Bay Auto with a bit of hesitation despite praises from my car dealer. Danny always answered his phone politely and promptly and carefully explained the process of repair. He was very knowledgeable about the work that was needed and also kindly reduced the cost of extra body work I wanted for my car. Repair was completed within 8 working business days and Danny gave me updates when I called midway to check on the status of the repair. The best part of this whole process was that my 10 year old car with 100k+ miles emerged as good as new. There were no hidden fees or surprises-- just really wonderful people at South Bay Auto and their great work! Thank you so much for making this a pleasant experience. read more

Danny and the South Bay Auto team are AMAZING! I was in an accident and had major damage to my car. Danny was very professional and incredibly responsive throughout the entire process. The team repaired it quickly and it looked better than when I bought it. They fixed every dent/bump/scratch, the color was matched perfectly and they even detailed it!!! I have and will continue to refer others to take their car to South Bay Auto. read more
