I had hit some feature that stopped the window from working normally. Another time I had a small scratch and he fixed that on the spot for me without charge. Most recently, I rear-ended someone right near the shop and he was my first stop. He said to bring it to him the next day and he'd asses the damage with my insurance company and take care of everything in a timely manner. Great, all-American, honest men working at this place. I came in needing a new bumper for my Chevy Cruz, and they coordinated really nicely with me and my schedule. They even stayed open for me on Saturday morning so I could pick up my car in time to have it for work on Monday. Going through my insurance with them was really easy too. Just make sure you have all your paperwork with you and you know how they'll get paid (insurance sending them the money or you being reimbursed later etc) and you're all set. read more

Southie Auto is the best place I ever bought my car to. My husband recently had his 2019 Land Rover Velar damaged and the vehicle left the scene unknown. I never thought we would get the parts especially during Covid for the vehicle and was worried about the service but Wow. The Velar was done fantastic and looked brand new and the service was exceptional. I even brought my own Mercedes SUV which was dented a few months ago to Tony and it looks wonderful. Hubert is awesome! Fantastic job! My car was hit by another when I was making a U-turn. There was a huge dent on the quarter panel. The liability was 50-50 and I had to pay for the repair on my own since I didn't have full-insurance. I first went to another body shop. They said that the repair would cost $3000 and took 2 weeks, which was higher and longer than what I expected so I said no. A few days later one friend recommended this shop and gave me Hubert's contact information. Then I visited the shop, and asked Hubert about the pricing. It turned out the parts would cost more than $900, and he said the total cost, including the quarter panel and the bumper, would be $2600. Guess what, I accepted it. In about only one week, they told me that my car was ready for pick-up. Much to my surprise, not only did they repair the quarter panel/bumper, but also fixed the minor scratches on my car. Hubert charged my only $2500 in the end, but I insisted leaving $100 as the tip. read more

This place provides top level engineering. My car makes noise whenever (and only when) I hit the brake, not the usual brake squeaking noise, but a "click-click" metallic thud. This has been more than a month and it worries me. I took it to the dealer. Dealer says "this is normal, drive more and it will go away". A month passed, same thing persists, and the noise got louder. So I went to Southie. The owner (Tony?) took the driver seat and started to reproduce the problem. I sat next to him. He heard the noise immediately, (while the dealer guys couldn't even notice the sound even after I pointed out), then he tried to locate the source. Here is the best part: I was talking to him, but he was like "hey! shut up! I am trying to focus!" :) He lifted my talking-ban after driving two rounds around the block, and decided to examine starting from the underneath of the driver's seat.... And he found a small bottle of water stuck under. So every time I brake, the bottle squeaks and pops back, thus making the click and thud. Ta-da! Of course he wanted to kill me for such a stupid problem. I wanted to kill myself too. He refused to take any charge even though it took half hour for an expert like him to find out. He won the fight of who-gets-the-bill and instead of killing me, he gave me a hug. I don't want to quote the famous "Handyman's Invoice" story here but, Tony, if you are reading this, I still think the correct way is to make a charge. I know this is minor issue but... I 100% recommend this place! I called on Monday with a hunch that I needed a front wheel bearing replaced and they said to bring it in Weds AM. I came in Weds AM, and they totally respected my opinion, confirmed my suspicion, and had my wheel bearing replaced within an hour and a half!!! And for a totally reasonable price - exactly what they quoted me on the phone, and less than what I thought I'd have to pay after researching online (the parts are never the worst part of the cost....). I can't praise this place enough. I took Big Red (2001 Jeep Cherokee) in for some repairs to the brakes and exhaust system. Not only were they up-front and honest, but the prices were reasonable and their work was done quickly. I showed up without an appointment on a saturday morning after calling only to confirm they were open. Upon arrival, they greeted me in the lot. I explained what was going on, was told to stand by my phone and I'd have a call back shortly with an estimate. I walked down to the redline and by the time I got to downtown crossing (only 25 minutes later) Southie had called back with a detailed estimate for all the work. I had nothing done and it didn't cost me anything. I was visiting Boston from NYC when my 16 year-old car started producing a grinding noise. Noise came from the rear wheels when the car was in motion. I'd just had the tires replaced last week. Maybe the last shop screwed something up doing that? I dropped off my car early on a Saturday morning at Southie with anticipation that my brakes would need to be replaced but an assumption it would, of course, be something more serious. The mechanic eyeballed the rear wheel rotors and guessed it was the brakes. I was told I'd get it back by the end of the day, provided the parts arrived in a few hours. That was a surprise in itself. I'd been worried I wouldn't be able to drive back to NYC on Sunday. In the short amount of time it took to walk from the shop to my hotel in the Seaport area, I'd received a call that my car was ready for pickup. I wolfed down a complimentary breakfast, then walked back down to Southie. "There's your problem," the mechanic said, pointing to a worn out, warped dust shield on the garage floor. "I'd like to charge you, but, well..." He handed me my key and wished me safe travels. I said thanks and hit the road again. read more

I took my car over to Southie Auto Service last week after getting side swiped a couple of weeks ago, and I will never go any other car repair shop as long as I live in Boston. Not only are the guys running this shop real nice, but they accepted me despite having a pretty full lot, got my car fixed up in just a couple days, and handled all the insurance BS (They helped me replace a part that Geico didn't originally include in their assessment) with ease. As an added plus, especially for people that work long hours during the week, they are open until around noon on Saturdays (a lot of auto shops arent open at all). Obviously, the less times I have go to this place the better, but if I do need work done, I will not hesitate in taking my car over to these guys... read more

I recently was told by my Jeep dealership that my wrangler needed about $600 dollars worth of work done to it for things that I didnt even bring in Jeep for, problems that I was not even aware of, nor did I think they even existed, luckily a friend of mine goes to Tony for all of his Jeep problems, and recommended I stop by before I tell the dealership to go ahead and work on my car. NEEDLESS TO SAY, the dealership was trying to just charge me for things that didnt necessarily need to be worked on. My car got hit by a plow while I was out of the country for my wedding. In the middle of all our crazy blizzards, Geico couldn't find a tow company that would come get the car. I've been here once for auto body work based on positive Yelp reviews. The low cost compared to other auto body shops in the area was also a contributing factor. I can say that I'm pleased, but still a little weary. When I went back to pick my car up the paint job wasn't perfect, I pointed out several dings and blemishes. They offered to fix it up and it was ready later the same day. I must say the final result looks awesome, but I wish they had done it right the first time. I recommend this place, but with caution. I gotta say - I was skeptical when I saw a 5 star auto body/repair shop but these guys are the real deal! I just moved to the city and I decided to bring my car in to fix some bumper & paint damage, as well as with an issue coming from what I thought was the transmission . A quick ride with Tony and he was able to figure out that it was something way less problematic than that, and he figured out a separate issue that I was struggling with that I didn't even come in for. Prices were reasonable and it was done sooner than the estimated repair time. The car is way quieter and it rides much more smoothly. It doesn't feel like a crap car anymore. As all of the others have said, this is a great shop. I brought my Lexus in for some minor paint work (but in a difficult place that would require repainting the whole fender) and they took the time to say it wasn't my paint at all, but the other car's bumper marks, and then they used some rubbing compound and took it out. Good as new!! And they wouldn't take any money at all for it!! These guys are honest, know what they are doing (they can paint even the more expensive cars - I saw their painting booth) and are very reliable not to run up your bill (when in my case they truly could). I read a few good reviews about Southie Auto and decided to stop by and check it out. Tony (owner) immediately put me at ease, and explained how the process works with insurance, rental car, etc. Being that this was my first accident, I wasn't really sure how this works. Tony personally walked me through the process, and was extremely professional and friendly as well. I picked my car up this morning and it looks good as new, they even hand washed it! These guys are TOP notch! I hit some ice last winter in my brand new car and swiped the side of my bumper and fender against a pole. Needless to say, it left me with a crunched fender and a lot of paint transfer. The issue was purely cosmetic , so I took my time to find a good Auto Body Shop since the car was new. After looking at reviews and receiving quotes from several different places, I settled in on Southie Auto Service; they had the best reviews and by far the cheapest quote (by about $400). The guys there are extremely personable and go above and beyond to make sure you have the best service possible. I was told they would need 2 days to do the repair, but they were able to turn it around in less than 24 hours. They stayed late on Veterans day to get the work done (and many of the guys are Veterans). I wish I had pictures of my car before the work was done so you could see the damage from the pole. After the work these guys did, my car looks brand new again. I cannot thank these guys enough and will be referring everyone I know to them.
