Came here with a friend for their birthday and was not expecting much but I was surprised how delicious everything was. The service was excellent waiters don't check up much but it is self service so everything needed is provided and open to grab. The vibes we nice and warm lots of older people but nice and comfortable for the family. Will definetly be coming back, I recommend the salads.10/10 read more

I had a great time! For as long as a I lived in Pasadena i dont know why I never tried this place. Its basically just a buffet for build your own salad and so many soups to choose from! They also do have other side items that were really good! This place has been here forever so it is just a generic cafeteria setting but hey it's still a nice time and maintained. I grew up in Pasadena and used to bring my kids here 7th grade and younger. We left in 2004 to Dallas. I'm visiting family in the area and shopping near here today and I started feeling nostalgic and HAD to come in solo. It is still the SAME feel as it was in 2004. FRESH salad ingredients. Taco/nacho bar. Chili n all the fixins. Hot soups. GREAT service with SMILES from the young people (that's a BIG DEAL to me these days!) and when I got a whiff of the fresh baked breads and saw the Strawberry shortcake, it just gave me all the feels :D it's worth the extra few dollars 8 years later ;) AND you can sign up before you get here on their website and get $3 off your first visit. Cleanliness and Freshness are at the top of the list for this spot. Service is usually pretty consistent with being quick and available when needed. I appreciate the selection of soups and salads that are offered along with many other options incase you get tired of either. read more

My husband and I decided to stop there for lunch, when we paid, the casher would always ask us if we wanted to leave a tip.....we always yes. Everything was good...we sat down had our meal, but the only thing was our waiter (didn't get his name) never checked on us. It really wasn't that busy, maybe he was new I don't know but we decided not to leave the tip. We always enjoy eating there, it's one of our favorite restaurants to stop. Thank goodness this one in Pasadena is still thriving with passionate ownership and an equally passionate customer base that loves -- and supports -- this wonderful, healthy restaurant concept. Just walking into this restaurant, putting together my salad, with the special fettucine parmesan corn pasta and tuna skroodle in its own separate plate, surrounded by at least two delicious soups, puts a huge smile on my face. "If you can make it in Pasadena, you can make it anywhere...." to almost quote the lyric from an iconic song. I don't know why we always forget about this place. The restaurant and buffet tables are exceptionally clean. The salads and fixins are ALWAYS fresh. You could be good on your diet and eat an excellent salad or you can be "bad" and eat the other foods. Besides the salad they have cold salads, fruits, desert, ice cream and a small taco bar. Oh don't forget the different types of soups. Today they had my wife's favorite: cheddar broccoli. I stuck with 2 large helpings of California salad. Price for adults is okay, but price on Tuesday for kids is great! (2.99). So great eating out for summer. Salad bar is great but the hot stuff like nachos, ground beef tacos, pizza, and soups are ok not the best tasting kind. I am so sad about the recent experience I had at Souper Salad. I was a huge fan of this restaurant until my last Visit. I can no longer go there unfortunately. Over 2 years ago, I had weight loss surgery. Souper Salad was the only place I could go where I could get a buffet and it was healthy. And I love soup! I was hesitate to go there after my WL surgery because I knew that I could not eat very much. However, we had family in town who wanted to go there. When we arrived, I asked if I could just get some soup to go because I had had WL surgery and could not eat a whole buffet. The manager was SO nice!! She said that I could always get the kids meal when I came in because she had a lot of WL surgery patients who would come in and could just eat a little. She said she wanted to make sure she gave her customers a good meal. So, because of her kindness, we went there ALOT! When they opened up after being closed by the pandemic, we went there once a week so she could keep the doors open. That was a huge worry for her. Fast forward to last Tuesday. I was shopping and wanted a bite to eat that was healthy. I stopped in and was deciding whether to get some soup to go or the kids buffet. I really wasn't hungry, so I told the cashier that I would have the soup to go and would like to eat it there because I could not eat a lot. The shift manager said,"We don't allow anyone to eat to go inside the restaurant". I told her that I have seen others do that and she immediately said that her daughter was the new owner and there were new rules. I told her that I just usually get the kids meal because I had WL surgery but today I just felt like soup. So, I told her that I guess I would get the soup and go eat it in my car. She then asked me if I had a card. I asked her, "A card for what?" She said, "For your surgery." I told her that I have been going there for 2 years and we don't carry a card. She said (again), " Well, my daughter is the new owner and things have changed." I told her that I guess I won't be going there anymore then. Again! She emphasized how her daughter is the new owner and she had changed things! I saw the manager's business card so I took one so I could contact her. She immediately said, "That's just the general manager"! I was taken aback by that statement. Her rudeness really was not necessary. To be honest, I could tell because I guess word of mouth has gotten around because it was lunchtime and there was hardly anyone there. So, I am wondering if the food has changed, also. I got the small veggie soup (my favorite) and a breadstick. The breadstick was stale as though it was a leftover from the day before or had been out too long and there was not a cracker basket like there was before. The soup was still good. I am really wondering with bad customer service now and the changes that they will shut down soon. I know a lot of us who have had WL surgery would go eat there because of the good, fresh food and we didn't have to pay the full price just to get a cup of soup and a few bites of salad. It's really sad that the new owner cannot see beyond making a buck and realize that customers keep places open. By the way, I did email the general manager to let her know my experience and have not received any email back from her. So, that pretty much tells me everything I need to know. I love all you can eat salad buffets because I can eat a lot of salads. Plus it's salad so it's healthy yo. Of course they offer other things like baked potatoes and pizza and soup and tacos and desserts but truly I get mostly salad because they have everything you could possibly want to put in a salad! They also have cold pasta dishes and there's this one Alfredo type one that I just love! I don't even know the name of it but I do like it! It's not super cheap but it is all you can eat, and we usually get water to drink so that's cheap and healthy! The people are pretty friendly but I've never been knocked off my feet with amazing customer service either. Of course it's not on the same level as a nice restaurant so I'm ok with that. It's a salad restaurant. I have a vegan wife. Of course I would end up at this place. The food is good. I love their cornbread and the chocolate pudding! Use the pudding as a dip for the cornbread even. The salad options are good. This place reminds me of salata fused with cici's pizza but you have a waiter. You pay at the counter when you walk in and then you have unlimited trips to the buffet. Price wasn't bad. I payed about $22 for my wife and myself. The wait staff is friendly. They pick up your plates once your done with them and bring out your drink order initially once you sit down. They have soups also. They have vegetarian soup options but no vegan soup options (their veggie soup has cream) Good place. My wife and I both like Salata more, and this is a little farther out of our way. I've always loved Souper Salad and I'm so glad that this location has survived through these tough times. The restaurant was very clean when I visited. There were servers that served you whatever you wanted on the salad bar as well as the potato, soup, nachos, etc bar. Everything is unlimited. Tables were spaced apart. Drinks were served in styrofoam cups and I asked for plastic utensils and received them. All servers were extremely nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this location to others as long as they keep up the good service and food. read more

I've been here on 3 different occasions and one thing is always constant. The food is really good. The vegetables are always fresh and selections of hot food are always at a good temperature. But I have some major concerns the restrooms are usually not bad but not exactly good either. My last visit yesterday the restroom was just plain NASTY! We brought it to the attention to the person at the front, she said thanks but I never saw an employee visit the restroom to address the issue. Next, I left a small amount of cash on the table and went to the bar to grab another plate. When I returned my drinks were there and everything else was gone. The waiter had picked up to the money. I'm not sure how he knew it was intended to be his tip... I always thought the tip came at the end of a meal. If you want good fresh salads it's a good place to go. read more

But the best part is the friendliness of all the staff and employees that goes beyond the normal. I went here to enjoy a salad and some soup but when I went there I was disgusted by how they were not practicing six feet at the buffet line and tables. Then this old lady was getting impatient with me when I was trying to tell her what I want on my salad. However, it doesn't stop there I waited 5 whole ass minutes for my silver wear and drink order. Then the server finally came but they were coughing all the way up to my table and proceed to cough as they were talking to me. Then when they left I saw my spoon looked dirty so I asked for a new one and thank goodness that one was clean. Well this chain has changed quality since I used to work for them. Salads are ok, but beware some grit at times when chewing. The soups are a sad disappointment.
