Big Panda under new ownership. The service is shitty and the Asian lady there is rude AF! Don't waste your money and find another spot

11.09.25 stopped by here today with a friend for a late lunch early dinner. saw this place on…read moretiktok and food review channels, so i had to try it out myself. first impressions, once i got to the parking lot, i thought, oh this might be that good, for it looked like a mexican restaurant from the outside, however once stepped inside, its a whole different appearance, very nice, very clean and peaceful. so this place, as seen on tiktok and food review channels, as well as advertised outside, boasts an all you can eat seafood buffet. once i stepped inside, i looked around before being seated, to see where the buffet table was, and i didnt see any. after being seated, i asked the waitress, where is the buffet table, and/or how does this work. the waitress mentioned, you just order what you want from the buffet menu and they bring it to you. i think this is a great idea, i dont have to get up, nor fight other customers on the last of any items. the waitress mentioned to me, since today its not busy there is no time limit, however, when they are busy, there is a 2 hour limit, and with the order of the buffet, there is one complimentary premium order of either 1 lobster tail or 1 cluster of snow crab. so i began my order with a house salad with ranch, and a seafood gumbo. i appreciate that the salad was made fresh, everything clean and crispy, the seafood gumbo however, was a bit of a let down, it was runny and was not served with white rice as it normally is at other seafood places. next i ordered from the boiled menu, shrimp head off, crawfish and a lobster tail, as the complimentary premium order, cooked with garlic butter. for everyone out there that is used to normal seafood, especially cajun seafood, make sure you order some dry seasoning or at least the cajun seasoning for the boil to cook in, the garlic butter boil, was very plain, and i was expecting to feel some kind of spicy burn, however none, just a bit of garlic flavor, with the buttery oily taste. the shrimp was a bit over cooked, however was edible. crawfish was ok as well, however, all were small crawfish. and the lobster tail was a bit overcooked as well, and somewhat small than the normal lobster tails that are served at other places. next i ordered some fried headless shrimp and an order of sole fish. again the shrimp was a bit over cooked, and the sole fish was freshly cooked as well, for it was blazing steaming hot every time i bit into it. the tarter sauce, i dont know what it was, for there was no taste, tasted more like i was dipping the fish into mayo, and the cocktail sauce for the shrimp, tasted like ketup. to drink i had a water and a sweet tea, water tasted fresh like good clean water, and the sweet tea was really good, nice and sweet just how i like it. this is a good place to try once, however, it wasnt good enough for me to say, 'i cant wait to go back.' there are other places that i know are way better, that i cant wait to return to, to have some great seafood. for this place, i say keep trying, maybe someday, this place could maybe compete with the big boys.

Not enough variety in the menu, which is disappointing. There are too many other seafood…read morerestaurants in the area where you can get many more types of fish (not just catfish), and almost every other place has more variety and choices of dishes (including the inexpensive seafood restaurants in our area.) The food is okay, but should be much better considering the price of their meals. There are fast food seafood places close by that are much better, and you'll spend much less money to eat there. It took longer for our food to get from the kitchen to our table than I would have expected, and we weren't even there at a very busy time. I would therefore expect it to take a really long time to have your food served if you went there at a time when they are much busier, such as during your lunch hour, or during the height of the dinner hours. The decor and ambience are petty good in this former Red Lobster location in Pasadena, Texas, but what diners really care the most about is the menu selection and quality of the food, as well as a reasonable price (both of which are disappointing for this Aquabite Cajun Seafood restaurant.) Restaurants from this chain that are located inland (such as the one in San Antonio) are probably more popular, since they are not close to any ocean. But here on the Gulf Coast of Texas, seafood lovers are used to (and expect) much better. My opinion of this restaurant is even more negative due to the fact that, when we ate there, I paid there with my credit card, and shortly after eating there, that card started getting many HUGE fraudulent charges on it, and I strongly suspect that my credit card information was stolen there. After I paid, our waitress disappeared with our credit card for a very long time before returning it. I believe that it was then that either the waitress or somebody else in the restaurant (most likely someone who worked there) stole my credit card information during that long period of time that my credit card was out of my sight. Credit card payments are safest when the waitress/waiter uses a card reader/payment processor that is nearby, and within your sight, OR paid via a tablet computer belonging to the restaurant that is set up to make payments on. I had to go through the hassle of cancelling my credit card account (after the fraudulent charges were made on it) and then changing all of my credit card billing information at all of the places that I normally pay through automatic credit card payment. After reviewing all of the other places that I had used that card at recently after this visit, I feel very strongly that Aquabite is where my credit card information is stolen. So, less than average food, overpriced for what it is, not the fastest service, and questionable safety for credit card payments are all very good reasons not to go back to this restaurant (and we never will again.)
