Texas Size Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese
    Jason C.

I remember when Ernie's was in the shopping center over around Burke and Pasadena Blvd maybe? Went there as a kid with the family. Hadn't been in almost 30 years but found them and had to go. Ridiculously good service! Everyone was super nice and friendly. I don't get back to Texas much so of course I went for the chicken fried steak, but saw many other delicious meals go by. See ya next time Ernie's!!

Never disappointed! The food is great and plentiful. You definitely get your bang for your buck. Staff is super friendly and the place is always clean. Great specials all week long.

I've been to Ernie's several times over the past year and I have not been disappointed yet. The servers are attentive, the food is hot, and I have seen Ernie hustling about each time I've been there. My hubby and I met for lunch. I got the table for us and our server was awesome. Drinks and rolls were delivered asap. They only wait I had was on my husband who got stuck behind a wreck. Anyway, I ordered the Palm Springs Chicken with green beans and mixed veggies, and my hubby ordered the Blacked Yucatán Chicken with okra and mashed potshots. I loved my chicken, it was hot and the cheese sauce was awesome. My sides were good, but I wish the server had mentioned that the mixed veggies were essentially more green beans but with a few other veggies. But that's my only complaint. I also feel the need to give Ernie some major props. Ernie's been a Pasadena name as long as I can remember, and I'm old enough to remember his first restaurant. He took a ho-hum location that's been several different restaurants that couldn't make it, and turned it into another Pasadena staple. The place is always packed! Also, more big props to Ernie, he is ALWAYS on the floor. I've seen him pick up trash, seat customers, and check on tables. How often do you see the owner seat customers? Not often. He hustles about making sure everything is running smoothly, and I think that's awesome. More owners should do that. If you're looking for a good lunch restaurant I say you definitely try Ernie's.

Lunch spot with the steam table diner type food that blows expectations out of the water. Large portions to meet the slightly higher prices. The service was quick and correct, even split the meal I had with my wife into 2 portions.

These guys are only open for lunch and I suggest getting there early. My friend and I arrived at 11am on the dot and we were the only ones there, within 15 minutes there wasn't an open table. You are met at the front door by a taxidermy lion and an arch of elephant tusks, which I found odd because the don't really match the rest of the decor. Most of the menu is chicken related, I got the BBQ Teriyaki Chicken. Chicken topped with a sauce and mushrooms. For my sides I got fried okra and mac and cheese. My first bite of the chicken was cold, I asked the server if it could be warmed. It came back fresh from the microwave. Honestly, the chicken just tasted like chicken with BBQ sauce on it. When I go to a restaurant I enjoy getting items that I couldn't cook myself. The mac and cheese was runny, I am still shocked I didn't spill any on myself. The okra and yeast rolls were great.

Randomly found this in between the airport and our hotel via yelp and I'm so happy we did. You can tell it's a local hot spot and its reputation speaks for itself. The inside is "small" but enough to sit at least 20-30 ppl. They have kiosks to order, you take your number and they call out your name when your order is ready. I was really impressed with the amount of items on their menu and know if I lived anywhere close my bad would be wide and my blood pressure high. The workers were very kind as well, I made a change in my order nearly 5mins after I ordered and they were gracious in accommodating my request which I very much appreciated. We had: Strawberry cheesecake Açaí bowl - 10/10 - it was perfect in every way. Bits of cheesecake, granola, strawberries and a drizzle of honey. This bowl alone could feed two people and three wouldn't be a stretch. I also had a strawberry vanilla soda type drink that I wish I got a larger size of because it was so good. Think a float without the thickness, it was refreshing and unique. Caramel Pecan Dream - wow 10/10 - it was so RICH and the consistency was amazing. The little bits of pecans were the perfect contrast to the creaminess of the shake itself. Burger and sweet potatoes fries - 10/10 - they do classics well too, no real notes but it was delicious.

(Like the bread & butter is good but, not something I personally would go out of my way for) Good service, i don't have any complaints there. Hostess was nice & server was nice. We had to switch tables because the booth we 2st were seated at was poorly cleaned. We asked for a another. We were moved. The gentleman that took our out was very attentive & kind. I had steak tips, they were overcooked. My sister had bourbon glaze salmon & shrimp, salmon was overcooked, my kids & neice had Alfredo pasta & tenders, they had no complaints so I was fine. Maybe try again when they have all Fryers working or when they have better non-furred food options.

I ordered "The Convention" breakfast which was "Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Breakfast Potatoes and Buttermilk Biscuits" - it came with literally 20 tiny sausage patties and biscuits total. So one tiny sausage and biscuit per person. I didn't count the bacon but it was a similarly stingy portion. No one had more than two pieces. The eggs were bland. The potatoes were actually good. But overall, it was so embarrassing to have the food show up and it be these tiny trays of hardly any food for over $400. I would have been better off ordering individual dishes for each person from a local restaurant. I thought with the high Yelp and Google reviews I saw, this would be a safe bet! I also ordered a 20 mini pastries for $3.25 each which were like pastries you get at a 7/11. At least if you are overcharging, let the food be good and not like you unwrapped pastries from a Costco haul. Worst of all was the coffee which was watered down and disgusting. Everyone threw theirs out so I just dumped it. What an utter waste of money. Also they only sent 8 cups with the coffee even though the breakfast was for 20. Stingy and bland all around. If you are catering for a small group, please save yourself the trouble and embarrassment and just order takeout from a local restaurant. I wish I took pictures of the spread but I was just too upset. All I took was the coffee which you can tell even from the picture was watery. ***The menu listed the items but didn't say only 1, 1oz piece of bacon per person - that's absolutely absurd for a normal breakfast portion. Who would cater one piece of bacon per person?
