This is a completely honest locksmith. They charge fairly and they're service is great. They helped correct a problem caused by another locksmith. They wee very generous with their time and advice. Due to their effort, I managed to get the overcharged bill from the other locksmith reduced considerable. The manager Guy is the best. See him for an honest appraisal. read more

Great customer service. They had keys that Home Depot didn't have. Fast, open 24 hours. Doesn't get much better than this!

I came to SOS locksmith to copy my keys and was thoroughly impressed by the operation at SOS locksmith. Guy (the owner / operator of the store) really runs a full fledged security business and can give you excellent advice on security and keeping things safe. As a previous reviewer said - this is a completely honest locksmith. They charge very fairly and service is great. I highly recommend SOS locksmith for all of your security needs. read more

SOS is right. I called this company late one night after I admittedly lost my keys. They promptly responded but unfortunately the locksmith who showed up proceeded to take my lock out completely and wedged his backpack in my door. Told me it would cost me $695 unless if I "did him a favor". At this point I was just scared so I told him to take $200 in cash and leave. EVENTUALLY he left after I told him I would not do him any sexual favors in return. I am left with no lock in my door. Luckily I have a bolt so I am ok for the night. I am not blaming the company but this man needs to be fired for the safety for other young women. read more

These folks are great. So well staffed and solved my problem immediately. And yes, everyone had a mask. Also, it was about a third of the price I had expected to pay to saw my bicycle lock. Visit these folks. read more

SOS Locksmith is the best!! They're a company absolutely dedicated and committed to customer service. I've had multiple events where I've forgotten or locked my keys, and they're my #1 go to to help me out in a jam. All the guys are courteous and helpful. I recommend SOS all the time! read more

We were so lucky to have found Guy with SOS Locksmith in an emergency. He was helpful, professional and honest. Context: We rented a vacation rental through Airbnb. Our host went on an extended vacation to the Himalayas, so we couldn't get a hold of him in a timely manner. As I was making calls to friends and hotels in Williamsburg, my friend knocked on one of the units in the building to ask for the Superintendent's contact info. He found Guy instead, who was SO helpful in a stressful situation. Thank you, Guy. You saved our first visit to NYC from being a disaster. :-) read more

THEY MAKE KEYS!!!! quick easy hardware store, carries just about everything! Super helpful staff

This place is the perfect example of a well run customer focused local small business. The people who work here really care and want to help you solve your lock and key issues. They went above and beyond - including refusing to accept payment - until we got it all working. I can't say enough good things about SOS - so much better than a big box chain. Go and patronize SOS, they've earned it. read more

These guys are so nice and always do a great job. They follow up, quote accurately and inexpensively, and are all around nice guys. I wish there were more locksmiths like this by my apartment! read more

Literally these guys are my heroes!! I desperately needed a key made for me at 6 pm on a Friday. I ran up to the two owners as they were literally locking down the store for the weekend and they reopened the store to quickly make my key even despite that it was a Friday night. Couldn't thank them enough - they were both so nice, quick and helpful. Not to mention it was so reasonable! Would 100% return for future stuff :) read more

Arguably the best price for making medical and multi lock keys. Also very nice people.

This review is for 2 services: locksmith and key making. Locksmith: Lost the only full set of keys to my apartment somehow (I know, I should have had another set with someone or at work, but never got around to it; and my super only had 1 key, not both, due to my negligence). I had two locks on my door: one plain, one deadbolt. After turning my purse practically inside out and going back to work to double check they didn't fall out at my desk, it was getting late and I had to call a locksmith. This locksmith was closest to my apartment. He arrived pretty quickly ($45 nighttime service call - reasonable, I think). All in all, the service took less than 20 minutes. My only gripe is how expensive this all came out to be, but maybe that's just how it is?? He took only a few minutes to drill out the two cylinders (top deadbolt $75, bottom $85). Then to replace the top cylinder was another $85. $85?!? Stop right there: I chose not to replace the bottom lock with him because I know that a cylinder costs no more than about $20, so I wasn't trying to come out my pocket any more than what I had to. This all came out to $315.81 with taxes, and that still didn't include replacing all the locks!! He was willing to cut some sort of deal on replacing the 2nd lock, but my super replaced it for free the next day when I purchased the cylinder, and I'm sure whatever deal he was going to give me wasn't going to total out to $20 for replacement. If this is a decent price, then people, let me know, and I will amend my review. Key making: A+ The next day, I decided to make a few sets of copies of my keys so I didn't have to go through this again. The guy was so quick and nice enough to create full keychains of each set instead of just giving me a bunch of keys to figure out (although, I don't know if all locksmiths do that, since I obviously don't make many copies of my keys). I was in and out in less than 10 minutes Epilogue: I found my original "lost" set of keys a few days later read more

Don't waste your time anywhere else. These guys are the best. See I didn't know any better - thought all locksmiths were the same. I mean it should be a simple deal right? WRONG. I came 2 minutes before closing desperately needing copies of an elevator key. Will and Will (the A team) immediately identified my key type, had it in stock and got 4 copies made in less than 3 minutes. I was out of there before 6:03pm. Amazing. Especially since the place I was at before told me I needed to pre-order and will take 2 days. Yep. On a side note, do not waste your time at Mr.Locks at 400 2nd ave. read more

I'd give negative stars if possible... staying at a friend's apartment and the lock apparently froze so the key broke off. It was 25° and 2:30 a.m. I stated exactly what the issue was, and they said it would be $125 to open the door and $45 for the service call. They sent a young, inexperienced hack and as soon as he showed up, he said it would be an additional $200 for a new lock and keys as they have to drill the lock out to open the door (obviously a detail they intentionally left off when we spoke). We haggled, I finally agreed upon $195 for everything, to which the woman then said "plus $45 service fee." I agreed, though feeling like they were totally taking advantage of a crappy situation. He also tried to convince us the top lock needed to be drilled out because it must be locked also. Long story short, 3 hours later he STILL did not have the door open, had totally bent the door and accidentally drilled the threads to the lock cylinder, making it impossible to get a new one in. I said we were calling someone else. He disappeared for about 10 minutes and we thought he'd left, but then he came back with another guy. This guy said he could get it open immediately (but couldn't). Then, the new guy I called showed up and I told them that. They high tailed it out of there, passing the new guy in the stairwell and exchanging words in Hebrew. The new guy literally opened the door in 30 seconds, and had a new lock replaced in 15 minutes. I'd say the new guy was our hero except... Here's the weird thing... When guy #1 was having trouble, he called a few people for help. One of which, my husband noticed the name on the phone was Rami. When I spoke to guy #2 on the phone, he said he didn't work for anyone else, he was a privately owned company. The new guy's name turned out to be Rami. The company sticker the new guy pulled out of his pocket to put on the invoice had an entirely different company name than the one I called. We ended up paying $150 more than the original quote, but it was after 6 a.m. At that point... moral of the story is, the whole thing is a racket. If in this situation again, I'd prob call MonKeys as he doesn't seem to be part of the same crew. Who knows... read more

I ended up at SOS coincidentally, as they were one of the few authorized Schlage locksmiths and I had a somewhat obscure (as i learned before going to SOS when no one else could help me) request requiring a replacement to only the inside of my Schlage lock set and medeco deadbolt. Guy (the owner) was incredibly helpful in making sure he got exactly what I needed, and problem solving to figure out the best way to do what I wanted. While often people just say no and give up, Guy was willing to take the time to explain the options we had and figure out an elegant solution. Thanks! I will be back! read more
