My first experience was good 6 weeks ago. My key was stuck in the lock, unable to be moved. Isaac was sent over, and for $200+ he got me into my apt. He changed a barrel, so I was still able to use my keys. Fast forward to 6 weeks later. Same issue. My key was stuck in the lock. Thought I'd call Sullivan again, since I thought they should stand by their work. This was a different experience. Here are the pros and cons. Note, this time they sent David. Pros: He was over within 25 minutes. He had a lock and plate set to fit my double layer metal door. Cons: He started drilling though the metal door without putting down a plastic sheet to protect my marble floor. (I had to ask him to stop, so I can find 2 large plastic bags to fit under the door to protect the floor and keep it clean from large and tiny metal shards) He was on his cell phone every 5 minutes. I had to ask him to please focus on getting the work done, as by now, it was 9:00pm, and he had been there since 7:30pm. On the wall, where the bolt fits into a metal slot, called a door strike, he drilled the door strike to accommodate the strike and left it with completely jagged metal edges. It seemed OK with him, since no one was going to put their finger into this 3" gaping hole. I showed him some tools I had and gave him a bit to sand down the edges. I had to ask him to clean-up after himself. After he was done, he took the 2 large bags to what I thought was the garbage chute, but I later saw the 2 bags, outside, blowing around on the driveway next to where he parked. Not sure where the metal shards went. I still have tons of tiny metal shards, spread in nooks and crannies on the floor in between tiles, and strewn everywhere, after sweeping, vacuuming, using wet paper towels and repeating numerous times. Still can't walk around barefoot. Seems the lead guy, Arthur, is super-nice and accommodating...too bad it was not he, that came to fix the lock. Careful who you get. read more

I decided to upgrade my front door hardware, buying a Schlage "smart" keypad deadbolt and matching door handle. New York has no shortage of options for locksmiths, and Yelp makes it super easy to get quotes with its online quoting function. Arthur responded quickly, asking me to text him the photos. He received them, then called me immediately to discuss my job. He was friendly and professional, matter of fact. Although my job wasn't urgent he came to my house around an hour after he and I spoke. Arthur truly went out of his way to make sure the new hardware fit, and that the door would open and close without impediment (to ensure that the door could be both locked, and unlocked, remotely, which is one of the biggest selling points of the Schlage "Connect" line of deadbolts). I also have never written a review on Yelp, this is my first. The level of service given by Arthur / Sullivan Locksmith was excellent and I would highly recommend them. You certainly hear of a lot of bad stories regarding locksmiths, but all his excellent reviews on yelp are reflective of the care and level of service given by Arthur. Arthur was very professional, polite and did a fantastic job replacing my existing door lock with a lot of after care. He came at the designated time and was punctual and early. He was transparent about the costs too which were very competitive. He is part of a family run business on Sullivan Street and it shows in that there is a lot of care in what he does and how the company presents itself. I called Arthur a few days ago because I once again locked myself out. I asked how long it would take for him to get there and he said he'll be there ASAP. He was parked illegally in front of my apartment less than five minutes later. I could tell it meant a lot for him to get to me quickly, probably because I sounded distressed. He got me in my apartment in less than 10 minutes and kept everything completely in tact. He said the door to my actual apartment might be tough to get into because it was sort of broken but pretty much immediately after that he got me in. I called up another locksmith company prior to calling Sullivan's and I was very unsatisfied with the customer service and tone of voice of who I spoke to. So, I decided to call Sullivan's and it was the complete opposite experience. Here is the story. We were robbed in May. Sullivan Locksmith was the only company I could find in a short period of time. We then proceeded to speak on how much the job will cost. They told me 500. They charged me 650. However, after a brief discussion on the business ethics, they only charged me 500. All was well, but now, it is September. The locks do not work literally do not work. They have been giving us issues for the last week, today they just do not work, and now, they will charge us an additional 250 for new barrels and 100 for labor. This is a pure insult to my intelligence. I highly say run the other way. There many other options in the area. read more

I had an electronic lock installed in a door in a school. Arthur did an amazing job. The price was extremely reasonable. I had multiple scheduling conflicts, and there was literally only 1 time when I was available. I changed dates multiple times, and he was able to accommodate for everything. I was locked out my own apartment. So I came across Sullivan Locksmith. The guy who answered the phone call was really nice. He quickly sent Arthur, and he came with in 20 minutes. I hired sullivan locksmith to replace two locks in our office they first requested that we email them a photo and gave us a discount for two locks later when the locksmith arrived he was able to fix one of the broken locks for no charge and still gave us a new lock for the discounted price. Saturday evening the lock broke on my security gate and I was stuck outside my apartment in the pouring rain. I spoke to the locksmith down the street who told me unsympathetically that it would be over $100 for the house call and the diagnostics and more for whatever the problem was.
