I went to three places to have a mailbox key copied before Access Locksmith. The first place told me they could make the copy, however the key did not work. The next place told me they weren't sure, but would refund me if it didn't work. They had to refund me. Finally, Home Depot told me they definitely couldn't make the key, but Access Locksmith could. Great and Quick ,friendly customer service. They were actually recommended to me by the Honda Auto Dealership. I only had one key to my Van so I needed another. The dealer could not fulfill, so I went there. YEY! They quickly made me 2 more keys . They've oviously been in business for a good long while. I called Access after seeing all the good reviews on yelp. I wanted to have a high security deadbolt installed on my door, the apartment I moved into didn't have one. When I called to schedule the appointment, I asked how much it would cost and they me it would be $258.50 for the lock to be installed on a metal door. I asked if they took credit cards and he said yes, so I scheduled and appointment for 10am on Saturday morning. At 10:20 no one had come yet, so I called them. The guy called me at 10:45 and said that he got hung up and was going to come to me next, in about 30 min. I had another appointment so I told him we had to reschedule. He agreed to come the following Saturday at 10. Saturday comes and they guy is late again. He shows up just before 11 after calling me 3 times because he couldn't remember the address. It was disrespectful of my time and totally unprofessional. When he finally arrives and installs the lock he tells me it's going to be $295.00 plus a fee for the visit and he wanted to charge me 3% additional because he didn't have a way to take a credit card. Really??? I asked them if he took credit cards when I made the appointment and they said yes. Summary: unorganized, unprofessional, and hidden fees If you don't want the runaround, pass on these guys. It seems they are only able to handle copying keys. read more

I have had many issues with locksmiths in the past. Sometimes a key is cut that doesn't match what I want, sometimes what looks like the right key is not a good match... this is none of those. Every single time I have gone to Access Locksmith, my keys are done expertly and perfectly. I no longer even have to bring my original as a backup when testing the copy for the first time, because they are that good! Awesome service, definitely cheaper than the home depot down the street. No lie, these guys had every lock available. Have I gone back? Yes! Will I go back again? Without a doubt! These guys were fast and helpful and made sure I had the necessary keys that I needed prior to leaving. They even made sure to explain how multi-lock works and how you'll need a specific card to duplicate. I just happened upon this spot and with perfect timing because it just so happened I needed a couple of keys cut. It is a little hole in the wall but they cut my keys and made 3 copies of each in under a minute. They're crooks. Recently I was robbed at work. My handbag with everything in it, including my cellphone, address book, keys and wallet was stolen. By the time the police finished the report it was late. Before leaving work I searched for local locksmiths. Access Locksmith's site said there was a 10% off discount for first time customers I called for an estimate, described what needed to be done and was told it would cost $315.00. As their locksmith was removing my top lock I asked him to confirm the estimate. Casually he told me it would cost more double what I'd been quoted. He said it would cost $800.00 to remove and replace 2 apartment door locks. No joke. $800.00 was not only ridiculously exorbitant. It was 150% more than double what they told me. He said if I didn't want to pay it he'd stop working and I could pay him $65.00 for the service call + $185.00 for the partial removal of my top lock. I was stunned. I asked about the 10% off discount for 1st time customers. He flatly told me there were no discounts. He charged me $770.00 - to remove and replace 2 locks on my apt. door, (the top lock was a plated Medico lock). 2 locks - $770.00. At that point I had no choice. None of my neighbors were home. Since my cellphone and address book were in my stolen bag, I had no way of contacting anyone, and no money on me. Plus he made it clear he wouldn't leave unless I paid him the money I "already owed" him. His work was o.k. But they are crooks. Overcharging like that was both incredibly predatory and dishonest. If I'd be given an accurate quote I would not have used this company. I was like being robbed twice that night. There are dozens of reputable locksmiths in NYC. Stay away from Access. read more

Rene was very friendly over the phone and charged an extremely reasonable price. We originally had a 2 pm appointment but called to let me know he was running 15 minutes behind. Not only did he show up only a few minutes late, he apologized profusely for being late! He was able to get me back into the apartment within minutes, and was extremely friendly during the entire process. Never once did he mention having to drill and replace the lock, like some other locksmiths would suggest to make some extra money. They gave me an accurate estimate of what the fee would be and told me they would send someone to do the job the next day. Although they told me he would arrive in the afternoon, I was delighted to find that the person came much earlier (around 11:00 am). His name was Terry and was very polite.
