I cannot even express how FANTASTIC they are! I went to SIX Hardware & Locksmith places looking to make a copy of those high-security Medeco keys- all epic fails. On a whim, I came across monKeys doing a google search and decided to make the trek into the city. I wish I'd gone to them first because they did an absolutely FANTASTIC job duplicating the key and it worked FLAWLESSLY when I tried it on my lock at home. The locksmiths were SO very kind, patient and worked quickly! I HIGHLY recommend monKeys for all your key needs....especially with issues involving the Medeco keys! True lifesavers! THANK YOU!!! read more

4.5 This was fast and affordable. They were nice as well. Exactly the experience I wanted to have for a matter such as duplicating a key.

I had gone in to make a copy of my key. In and out in a jiffy. Prompt and courteous and efficient Of course a small space with limited key chain options but that is not the point of this place read more

If you say your open it might be a good idea to be open during those hours. Arrived at the store it was closed and when I called the number they were unhelpful read more

I wasn't sure if they were still open and copying keys (finding that is next to impossible in NYC) but after getting someone on the phone I learned they were so I got down there before heading to a lunchtime event I'd signed up for. I figured I'd need to drop them off and come back but he got it done in a flash. It was pricer than when I got copies in my neighborhood but that guy only takes cash and the new front door key is bigger so I thought the other guy might charge more for it so it'd be best to use a credit card and get it done pronto to avoid another trip in an already busy day. I'd definitely come back though I don't live in this area. read more

I was there to copy all of my apartment keys. The man tried to way over charge me, until my fiance on the phone was shocked with the price and asked where i was getting the keys copied. Then it was a more reasonable (ish) price, IF the keys would have worked. None of the keys worked. Very frustrating. I now need to get the keys copied somewhere else. Waste of time and money. read more

This place was over priced, and the staff was not very friendly or accommodating. Actually, the price of the key I needed done was outrageous. read more

Don't come here if you expect the place to be open for their posted hours. Came 2:20 on a Friday they had a sign up saying be back at 2:30. nothing, nobody answering the phone and nobody inside. Came to Manhattan earlier than I needed to in order to stop here before an appointment. stood around in the rain and nobody came ended up having to leave empty handed read more

Thank you it was a nice and quick service, highly appreciated , Technician came in 25 minutes and opened my car, it was in a city so price and eta was perfect read more

I came across monKeys by chance going to an appointment, and it was a good happening. Returned today, I was well greeted and accommodated. I'm mad I didn't get the name of the man who assisted me, but he did was professional and didn't hesitate to compliment my nails -- saying he noticed them the moment I came in the store. He was quick and the prices were very reasonable for Midtown. Thank you for your service and location. read more

Made three Medeco keys perfectly at a good price. A great and proper NYC institution.

This place is great! Such quick service and the tech is super friendly. The prices are great in comparison to other locations. Totally recommend. read more

Quick, easy, no chit chat. Exactly what you expect when getting a key made. Reasonable pricing as well.

The locksmith arrived at my apartment promptly and did a great job of changin my lock within minutes. Most importantly, unlike other places I called and who sent locksmiths over to my place for an estimate, I was not given some outrageous and absurd estimate to change a lock that takes mere minutes to install. I would hire monKeys again. read more

Excellent experience all around from monkeys they were able to help me out and change the locks for a tenant occupied unit promptly and professionally over Easter weekend. I appreciate their responsiveness when no one else would answer my call. The tenants are happy and it was actually more affordable then my regular locksmith. Looking forward to using in the future read more

Monkey locksmith did a great job we called same day and they came in an hour to change a door handle and add a lock to it ! Awesome job by mike highly recommend price was fair especially for speed of job and response time he was in and out in 15 minutes read more

This was my second time using this service. Mike changed two sets of locks for me. Fast and efficient. I would highly recommend using them!

My son's car factory reset the key fobs after a dead car battery. They have a baby due any minute. Car lot was gonna charge several hundred dollars plus a tow. This man was at their house quickly and was super nice! Also charged a fraction of the dealership! Highly recommend! read more

Super unreliable, went to copy a key that I needed desperately and the guy in store says the person who does it is on a job. They take my info down to call me, after some time I call and the person who copies keys is going to be gone whole day.. what's the point of having a store not be able to fully function read more

Copy of keys Very affordable Very professional They also had a lot of apartment accessories read more

Absolutely saved the day. Very efficient, responsive, and very nice -- I was out of town and they were still able to get the lock changed so my kid could get into the apt (thanks to my great doorman as well!). We will definitely using them for all our locksmith needs! read more

Very quick and efficient. Came right on time. Not very costly either. Highly recommended

Great store, the best place in a city to make a key, young guy on a front desk was very professional and friendly. Highly recommend it to everyone!!! read more

Yikes. So far I wasted my time attempting to go this locksmith twice in two days. Google business listing says 24 hours, I show up at 4:30 the first day, business is locked down. I show up the second day at 4:45 locked down. I'm going to hazard a guess and say this business likely didn't survive covid and they are closed permanently, as I'm not sure how you could keep a business model afloat that closes at 4:00 PM or earlier. This is also an epidemic that's happening across NYC, it seems business owners are far too inept to update their hours on google business. It is a very simple step and can save customers so much time. I will update this if I find the business is actually open at some point. read more

After going to my favorite big locksmith for keys today. I found they no longer had the equipment or access (physisicaly) to the blanks to cut my keys. This place was around the corner from madison slightly hard to find. However mr MonKey had no issues and plesently cut the keys I needed. Ill be back thank you Mr. MonKey read more

Extremely fast (less than a minute to make a working copy of a mail key), friendly, and helpful. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

I would strongly recommend monKeys Locksmith! The proprietor was friendly, helpful and extremely quick. I walked out with the shop with two sets of new keys, including both door and mail keys, in probably 90 seconds. Very reasonably priced too. read more

I didn't use the service of monKeys locksmith, but did have an interaction with their business. I called them up and explained my situation (I was locked out). I wanted to know how much it would roughly cost to fix the entire problem, and the guy said over the phone he couldn't give me a quote until he saw the problem, and would have to send someone over. I then asked him what if the problem couldn't be fixed, or if I decide not use their service after getting an official price quote, and the man on the phone told me that to come down to do a house call, even just to look at the problem, would cost $125 dollars. My house is only a 10 minute drive from this place, or a 27 minute walk, so I'm not sure how that distance comes out to a $125 price tag, and for no work done either. This places seems like a huge rip, and I'm glad I didn't utilize their services. read more

Absolutely one of the best locksmiths. Keys made expertly and promptly at a fair price by the friendly and knowledgeable owner. The best!

Thank you so much to Oscar for making a copy of the key that I needed. I have been struggling to find a decent place and I'm so glad that I came across this company. So if you are looking for a decent place with a friendly stud - THIS IS IT! 5 stars read more

I went to monKeys to get 3 keys made. The service was professional and friendly. The job was done quickly (maybe 1-2 minutes) and worked flawlessly. The cost was very reasonable ($9/3 keys). If needed, I would come here again or recommend friends or family to this business. read more

monKeys saved the day! They fixed a jammed pocket door that had an incorrectly installed lock. A few other locksmiths said they wouldn't be able to do it, and monKeys did the job for much cheaper than other companies that quoted me. They were quick and professional. I highly recommend. read more

Mike helped us with our lock fix. And kindly showed me how to fix the lock next time if I have the same problem. Recommend

I found Monkeys locksmith in yelp and made a few key copies there. I was surprised about how fast it was done. And both keys worked well. Highly recommended read more

These guys don't "monkey" around! (I bet they've never heard THAT before.) I needed 5 keys made, and I was out of here in no more than 5 minutes. At $2.50 each, and at this kind of speediness of service, you can't go wrong. One of the keys was a brolic-looking one, and was $4 to make, but the guy even offered to copy it into a different size to maintain the pricing. Really appreciated the extra mile, and glad to bring all my key making business here. read more

I forget his name but he is THE KEY MASTER. After trying multiple places and failing to get a specific key made he was able to do it! He has been making keys for 48years and he made my key in 2 seconds. Amazing craftsman and god among men! read more

Is it weird if I say this locksmith shop is a gem? I was sent here on Tuesday afternoon to get copies made of some office keys. Prior to this afternoon I've always had a mild hatred of locksmith shops in general, perhaps because I've only ever found myself at them after losing keys or finding myself locked out of the house half naked. Monkeys has changed my perspective though, to the point where I was actually smiling as I left the tiny store. Now who finds happiness when copying keys? The man (the owner?) who made the keys was friendly, outgoing, and honest. He even made me LOL at one point, which is rare for me at 4pm on a work day. He was super speedy too, as in he cranked out 7 keys in just a few minutes. These plus a squiggly keychain cost me $36. Now I don't actually know how much key copies cost at other places so I can't do a price comparison, but the service was stellar so I'm giving this 5 stars! read more

I bought 2 electronic, push button locks for my apartment. This morning the guy from Abbey Locksmith came over and gave me a price of $1,000.00 to install them. You heard right...One-Thousand-Dollars. And that's just for the installation. I already had bought the locks. So a friend tells me to call MonKeys Locksmith....which I did. The guy comes over in an hour, installs both locks, and charges me $180. Let The Buyer Beware. read more

Phenomenal service! They were actually closing and they opened back up for me to make a few copies for a key. That's world class service, going the extra mile. NOTE: Their store is actually located on the side of 265 Madison on 39th st. read more
